Global Contact Services Automates Do-Not-Call Request Handling with UCN inContactExisting UCN Long Distance customers selects inContact/ IVR to automate their DNC process
SALT LAKE CITY, April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Long-term UCN long distance customer, Global Contact Services (GCS), a leading provider of integrated customer acquisition and customer care solutions for major corporations throughout the United States, deployed UCN (BULLETIN BOARD: UCNN) inContact(R) in order to solve a single IVR problem, then discovered the hosted ACD product can help the company expand its business model beyond outbound services into new inbound services.
Founded in 2001, GCS is an expanding company that supports a range of Fortune 100 companies with outsourced inbound and outbound teleservices and customer support. The company employs approximately 1,500 service reps at 12 sites across the country. The company is in the process of expanding within the United States, and generally locates its facilities in small, rural areas where it can make a positive difference in the local community and economy.
Said Paul Jarman, CEO of UCN: "We are pleased that significant outsource businesses, such as Global Contact Services, are recognizing the value of the inContact hosted solution. This win demonstrates two great things for UCN: our ability to sell inContact into existing long distance accounts and our increasing momentum in the outsource vertical."
The Problem
GCS's existing platforms were primarily outbound predictive dialer solutions with very limited inbound IVR and messaging capabilities, explained Ron Rowan, managing director for GCS. As a result, GCS was saddled with a tedious manual process for handling do-not-call (DNC) requests. What Rowan needed was an automated DNC request handling system.
The Solution
Using the inContact IVR self-service feature, which can be integrated with an external database, GCS is able to automate the DNC process, which is to say the process of taking a request to remove an individual's name from a call list. When a person calls in, they hear a prompt, then enter their phone number on their keypad. The new automated system captures that information and uses it to update GCS call tables.
"Prior to inContact, employees had to field calls, then manually key in 40,000 numbers per month," recalled Rowan. "With the new automated system, the team has not only saved time and money through automation, we have greatly increased the accuracy of our DNC information by eliminating human error."
GCS was familiar with UCN as its long-time provider of long distance services. "The stability of the UCN telecom lines and the high level of service we have received from the company has been a very nice fit for us," said Rowan. Because of this positive experience and the fact that the inContact inbound services are pre-integrated with the voice network GCS was already using, the decision was easy.
Rowan described the implementation of inContact as "smooth and seamless, taking only seven days." This enabled his team to meet a tight deadline for shutting down and shipping back decommissioned hardware to its previous vendor.
Business Benefits
Building on the success of the DNC processing experience, GCS is currently exploring additional uses for UCN solutions to extend its business offering, including:
-- Creation of an automated tool to augment and streamline the company's
niche insurance sales division.
-- Implementation of the inContact/ACD service in order to secure new
business by offering inbound services.
"We found inContact to be extremely flexible, robust and easy to work with. Our staff was actually able to handle our own adds and changes to the call flow a short time after implementation," said Rowan. "The UCN sales and support teams have been phenomenal to work with."
Rowan added that UCN's approach of offering training classes over the web was highly efficient and effective for him and his team. "The fact that we didn't have to take one of our top IT people, one of our operations folks or myself out of the mix for three days of training really helped our productivity, allowing us to focus on our business and our customers."

CANAL+ Group Stays in Sync With Customers Via Informatica Data Integration PlatformLeading French pay-TV company using Informatica PowerCenter and PowerExchange to synchronize back-office and front-office systems for enhanced customer responsiveness
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Informatica Corporation , a leading provider of data integration software, today announced that the CANAL+ Group, a leader in the French pay-TV market, has implemented the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform and Informatica PowerExchange mainframe access software to help optimize its customer relationship management (CRM) processes. In synchronizing changes to customer data across its operational and CRM databases in near-real time, the Informatica solution provides CANAL+ customer care officers with access to fully up-to-date information, thus enhancing the company's ability to deliver exemplary customer service to more than 8 million subscribers.
Growing quickly in a competitive marketplace, CANAL+ sought to streamline access to information for its customer service centers by improving the performance and reliability of data exchanges between its back-office IBM mainframe and front-office Siebel CRM application. Instead of relying on expensive-to-develop and hard-to-maintain COBOL routines to strengthen these exchanges, CANAL+ selected PowerExchange, which uses advanced changed data capture (CDC) techniques to automatically and non-invasively capture all updating actions to the legacy mainframe databases as they occur. PowerCenter then integrates the updates into the Siebel database so that customer-facing personnel are able to consult consistent, timely and accurate views of each subscriber.
"The Informatica solution has definitely helped propel our customer service project forward and, as such, has been an important factor in our success," said Pierre Gressier, director Information Systems at the CANAL+ Group. "Rather than spending hundreds of development man-days extracting all the data modifications from our legacy system and sending them to Siebel, we have been able to install a product that seamlessly synchronizes the data from our old to our new system in almost real time. We have also gained a solution capable of handling our seasonally fluctuating volumes, and which can evolve to accommodate future developments in our customer care environment."
CANAL+'s Informatica solution currently handles between 50,000 and 200,000 daily updating actions. The entire solution was implemented in under five months: a fraction of the time that an in-house developed COBOL-coded solution would have required, and at a much lower cost. Changes to the legacy DB2 databases are captured by PowerExchange in a manner transparent to the mainframe's operation. The changed data is sent to a Windows server on which PowerCenter operates where it is transformed and mapped to the Siebel system for immediate use. Looking ahead, with this "customer information hub" in place, the Informatica solution provides CANAL+ with the flexibility and scalability to capture, transform and synchronize data across multiple systems, with the resulting data then delivered as needed in batch, change, or real-time modes.
"The CANAL+ Group's use of Informatica underscores the benefits of accurately synchronizing back-office data into front-office systems so that it can be leveraged on demand to drive business growth and customer satisfaction," said Brian Gentile, CMO of Informatica. "Informatica's data integration platform provides organizations with a secure, flexible and full- featured foundation for developing and managing data synchronization efforts that include on-premise and off-premise or outsourced data sources, no matter how complex the environment.

Superconductor Technologies Inc. (STI) Wins $4.7 Million U.S. Air Force Contract
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Superconductor Technologies Inc. ("STI"), a leading provider of high performance infrastructure products for wireless voice and data applications, announced today it was awarded a contract from the U. S. Air Force to develop Semiconductor-Tuned High Temperature Superconducting Filters for Ultra- Sensitive Radio Frequency Receivers (SURF). The funded contract amount is $4.7 million.
Upon successful completion of the initial contract, the U.S. Air Force has an option to extend the contract for the delivery of a prototype rack- mountable system incorporating a reconfigurable, ultra-fast tuned filter. If exercised, the value of this contract extension option is $5.4 million and would be recognized over 12 months.
"We are executing on our company strategy to extend our technology to new applications with existing customers, as demonstrated by this U.S. Air Force contract win," said Jeff Quiram, STI's president and chief executive officer. "Most importantly, this contract moves us much closer to our corporate goal of achieving significant product sales to the US government, moving STI beyond its historical role as principally a provider of contract R&D services."
"The SURF program, which builds on an STI proprietary approach to tuning filters, will incorporate semiconductor-tuning of High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) filters to enable microsecond tuning speed, while also reducing size and cost," said Dr. Bob Hammond, STI's senior vice president and CTO. "This unique approach will minimize tuning speeds, a primary limitation of today's tunable HTS filter technologies for most military applications."
The U.S. Air Force conducts research, development, test and evaluation, and provides the acquisition management services and logistics support necessary to keep U.S. Air Force weapon systems ready for war.

MCLEAN, Va., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- USA TODAY turns 25 years young this September, and to continue the celebration, The Nation's Newspaper will look back at the Top 25 NFL Draft Moments of the Last 25 Years.
The famed 1983 NFL draft class - stocked with talented quarterbacks - was the first covered by USA TODAY. Plenty of surprises since have made the NFL draft one of the sports calendar's most anticipated weekends. This year's NFL draft is this weekend.
Every Monday for 25 weeks, USA TODAY will offer an exclusive color page of Top 25 anniversary memories - 25 lists over 25 weeks designed to spark conversation and debates. USA TODAY's interactive online environment at USATODAY.com offers readers not only the chance to debate each list, but will post reader's choices as well.
The Top 25 conversation continues today with the Top 25 NFL Draft Moments of the Last 25 Years. Twenty-five highlights - and lowlights - over 25 years. Here are the top 10:
1. FUMBLE!!!!
Houston bypasses Heisman Trophy-winning RB Reggie Bush with the top
pick of 2006 to take defensive end Mario Williams. Bush helps New
Orleans to its first NFC championship game. Houston finishes 6-10.
2. Passing by the rest
QB Dan Marino is bypassed by 22 teams, falls to Miami with 27th pick
of '83. John Elway (1st), Todd Blackledge (7th), Jim Kelly (14th),
Tony Eason (15th) and Ken O'Brien (24th) are QBs taken ahead of
Marino, who sets many passing records.
3. Leafing through time
Indianapolis takes QB Peyton Manning first overall in '98; San Diego,
next up, takes QB Ryan Leaf. Manning is a perennial All-Pro and Super
Bowl champ. Leaf - 14 TD passes, 36 INTs total.
4. Just saying 'no'
Future Hall of Famer Elway vows never to play for the then-Baltimore
Colts, who take him with the No. 1 pick of '83. They trade his rights
to Denver, where Elway plays in five Super Bowls and wins two.
5. The Brady hunch
New England taps eventual two-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady in sixth
round of 2000, 199th overall pick and behind QBs Giovanni Carmazzi,
who never plays, and Spergon Wynn (1 TD, 7 INTs total).
6. Can it, Philly
Philadelphia fans boo choice of QB Donovan McNabb with second pick of
'99, preferring Heisman-winning RB Ricky Williams. Philly gets to one
Super Bowl, four NFC championship games in a row.
7. Ricky don't lose that #
New Orleans breaks the bank for Williams, trading loads of top picks
to Washington to take him. Williams, last with Miami, plagued by drug
violations, hopes to play in 2007 after a year's suspension.
8. Bo knows Bo
Tampa Bay takes RB Bo Jackson with No. 1 pick of '86 despite his
refusal to join them. After playing baseball, he joins the then-Los
Angeles Raiders. A hip injury cuts short his career.
9. Offensive bust
Green Bay takes offensive tackle Tony Mandarich, dubbed "best
offensive line prospect ever" by Sports Illustrated, with second pick
of '89. Mandarich is pilloried as perhaps the greatest bust.
10. Time's up!
Minnesota, trying to work a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, exceeds
15-minute allotment in the first round with the seventh pick of 2003.
Jacksonville swoops in, grabs QB Byron Leftwich, whom the Ravens
coveted. Carolina also makes a pick before Minnesota gets its bearings
and takes defensive tackle Kevin Williams at No. 9.

Dong Thap Selects Motorola's Wireless Broadband Solution for Its Provincial E-government Network in VietnamWi4 Fixed Canopy(R) network will allow voice, data and video services over a single wireless broadband link
DONG THAP, Vietnam, April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola, Inc. today announced that the Dong Thap People's Committee has selected Motorola's wi4 Fixed Canopy solution for its e-government network. A combination of point-to-point and point-to-multi point wireless broadband network systems will connect provincial offices and administrative agencies in Dong Thap.
The Dong Thap Canopy deployment will support the triple play service set of high-speed Internet, Voice over IP (VoIP) and video calls over a single broadband platform. Besides the physical system, ongoing technical support will be provided by Motorola via E&T Company, an authorized Canopy solution provider, to ensure the smooth running of the network.
The wireless broadband network will be deployed in phases with 10 local government departments being covered in the first phase. By mid-2007, the network will be expanded to cover 30 departments and agencies as well as 10 remote districts.
Currently, communications between the Dong Thap People's Committee and local agencies and districts are done through 64 Kbps dial-up connection or expensive 64 Kbps leased lines.
"Deploying Motorola's Canopy wireless broadband network will allow Dong Thap government officials to communicate seamlessly and achieve central administration across the province," said Mr. Le Minh Hoan, vice chairman of Dong Thap People's Committee. "With Canopy, we will be able to respond more efficiently to the needs of the people," he said.
Demonstrating the network's triple play capabilities, Mr. Hoan launched the e-government network via a wireless videophone enabled by Motorola's wireless broadband system. He added: "We were amazed at Canopy's ability to scale up and out while supporting multiple services at affordable prices."
Mr. David Knapp, general director of Motorola Vietnam, said he was pleased to see Motorola's network solutions being deployed not only in large cities but also in rural areas. "Canopy is an excellent alternative to wired broadband solutions like cable and DSL," he said. "This is especially so in provinces like Dong Thap where large distances between offices make the cost of installing copper lines economically prohibitive."
Beyond this deployment, Mr. Knapp said Motorola and its partners will continue to work with other local enterprises, municipalities and carriers to enable wireless broadband communications throughout Vietnam.
Motorola's Canopy solutions are part of the company's MOTOwi4(TM) portfolio of innovative wireless broadband solutions and services that creates, complements and completes IP networks. Delivering IP coverage to virtually all spaces, the MOTOwi4 portfolio also includes wi4 WiMAX, wi4 Mesh, and wi4 BPL solutions for private and public networks. A portion of the revenue on this contract was recognized in 2006.

Autonomy Chosen to Modernise Education at Holland's Delft University of TechnologyAutonomy's Virage Rich Media Solution Delivers e-Learning Innovation to University
CAMBRIDGE, England and SAN FRANCISCO, California, April 23
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Autonomy Corporation plc , a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that one of Holland's leading technical education institutions, the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), has selected Autonomy's Virage solution to deliver a new, pioneering approach to e-learning. In line with the Dutch government's support of innovation, TU Delft will now use Virage's Rich Media Management software for the searching and structuring of its digital teaching material.
The college's new website, http://www.collegerama.nl/, has been developed for both students and lecturers at TU Delft to provide online video recordings of classes. With Collegerama, students can follow, search and review various classes, lectures and research presentations online. Additionally, lecturers and students can now download, process and upload educational material themselves. The system satisfies the new learning requirements encouraged by the Dutch government, whereby teaching material is provided digitally wherever possible, thus optimizing remote knowledge sharing and knowledge exchange. Students with an internet connection now have access to teaching material regardless of time or location.
"Students are used to an efficient and effective digital environment and expect this from educational instruments," said Leon Huijbers, Head of the Aula Congress Centre & Multimedia Services at TU Delft, "Thanks to Virage, students no longer have to spend hours searching for relevant information and can find the classes they want more quickly. Autonomy also prevents 800 lecturers from having to index the content themselves."
TU Delft is using Virage's Rich Media solution to automatically link metadata to all uploaded files on Collegerama.nl. The Virage technology analyses, encodes and indexes audio and video material from various sources and automatically allocates metadata to those files, removing the need for manual tagging. Virage understands the context of files, so that if a student enters the search term 'solar energy', for example, the Rich Media solution will also find related documents such as information on 'green power'. TU Delft uses Autonomy's Virage to let users search within the database for digital material; consisting of lectures by professors, PowerPoint presentations and other study material. Virage automatically gives metadata to the video and audio material in the Collegerama database so that the professors do not have to do this themselves, a timely and often inaccurate manual task.
Mike Lynch, chief executive officer of Autonomy commented, "We are delighted that TU Delft has chosen Virage technology in its initiative to modernise learning and enhance access to education."

2. Reason for Revision
Net sales forecast is close on original forecasts.
We now forecast for the first quarter costs around 16.6 billion yen. It could fall below 17.5 billion that we expected because mainly the cost of sales and US marketing cost might be under spent. As the result, operating income forecast is 18.2% above original forecasts.
Net income forecast is 47.4% above original forecasts due to higher than expected mainly non-operating income including interest income, etc.
In summary, as a result of this revision, compared to the previous forecast of the first quarter, there are all increases of 0.4% in net sales, 18.2% in operating income, and 47.4% in net income, respectively.
