Guangzhou Global Telecom Inc. Receives Branch Business License in the Wuhan Province
GUANGZHOU, China, June 4 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Guangzhou Global Telecom Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: GZGT) , a mobile phone handset and pre-paid calling card distributor and mobile handset value-added services provider in the PRC, announced that it has received its branch business license in Hankou, Wuhan.
Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province. According to the statistics, the mobile users in Wuhan were approximately 3,549,200 at the end of 2006, approximately 45.81% of the total population of 7,000,000 in the city. The mobile users increased by 31.2% in 2006. According to statistics, the coverage of mobile users in cities of China is 93%, which is higher than that of Wuhan. As a result, the company believes that it has significant room to develop the business in Wuhan.
The Company is planning to seek cooperation with main telecom operators in Wuhan to achieve its quick expansion objective. The company is trying to co- operate or merge with local distributors or companies to maximize our distribution network. The company has already targeted several local retailers as potential partners.
"We are extremely excited about our company's prospects with the entrance into the Wuhan market. In the past two weeks we have opened two new markets for the company and we will continue with an aggressive expansion model to capitalize on our existing industry relationships as well as on the fast growing market segments that we operate in," stated CEO Li Yankuan.
"Following the establishment of the Zhengzhou Branch, setting up the Wuhan branch is the second phase of our expansion plan, taking the company into the other provinces in China. During year 2007, the company expects to set up more branches and retailer shops in China to bolster our distribution network. With branches located in different cities around China, the company can understand, with more precision, the market response for each product and services so that we may adjust it to satisfy our customers' need. Currently, most of our revenue is generated from Guangzhou and only one brand is distributing its products through our network into the whole China region. With the expanding network, we can persuade more handsets manufacturers to deliver products through our network. Furthermore, by developing a larger infrastructure, the company will be able to sell more value added services which will increase company margins and give us a competitive advantage over smaller companies in our market," concluded Li Yankuan.

Zarlink and 5V Technologies Demonstrate Collaborative Solution that Improves VoIP Voice Quality at COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2007- Zarlink voice processing technologies and 5VT SOC (system-on-chip) solutions showcased at COMPUTEX TAIPEI (TWTC Hall 3 - Booth #G558, June 5-9, 2007) - Reference design for IP phones with high-quality speakerphone capability available
OTTAWA, June 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. (NYSE/TSX:ZL) today announced that it is demonstrating its latest hands-free voice processing products with 5V Technologies Ltd., a fabless developer of complete SOC solutions for a range of applications in the broadband communications market, at COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2007 in Taiwan (TWTC Hall 3 - Booth #G558).
The Zarlink and 5V Technologies solution combines their respective voice enhancement and IP phone expertise to allow equipment manufacturers to rapidly evaluate and develop cost-effective IP phones sets supporting high-quality speakerphone capability. The solution integrates Zarlink's high-performance acoustic echo canceller technology and 5VT's cost-effective ARM9-based VoIP SOC (5VT13XX Series). This solution is available as a reference design for qualified customers.
Zarlink's ZL(TM)38004 voice processing platform helps solve quality concerns that have plagued voice-over-IP equipment. The platform is based on the same technologies currently deployed in telecom applications, where voice quality is an absolute requirement. This proven expertise allows hands-free and IP-based communication equipment manufacturers to ensure reliable voice performance.
The fully featured ZL38004 platform combines Zarlink's voice processor engine with dual channel wideband, CD quality codecs, on-chip memory and ZLS38502 firmware for speakerphones. ZLS38502 firmware incorporates unique noise reduction and echo cancellation techniques to allow equipment designers to overcome distortion, echo and double-talk issues that plague speakerphones.
"The combination of Zarlink's ZL38004 platform and the 5VT SOC device provides manufacturers with a ready-made solution that improves voice quality in VoIP phones," said Andrew Faulkner, director of Zarlink's Voice Processing product line. "Many of our target applications, particularly IP-phones, use ARM-based SOCs for packetization, VoIP SIP Stack implementation and to provide feature phone functionality. Unfortunately this often leaves too few MIPs for true full-duplex, high-performance acoustic echo cancellation. Combining 5VT's SOC solution with the Zarlink ZL38004 platform allows customers more easily design enriched feature phone sets with high-quality voice performance."
"Customers will benefit from 5VT and Zarlink's collective expertise - a proven and cost-effective VoIP SOC along with high-quality acoustic echo cancellation usually associated with higher-end, expensive VoIP phone sets - offered as a near-turnkey solution with direct support from both companies," said Jackson Chang, CEO, 5V Technologies Ltd.
Using the powerful 300MHz ARM9 processor with integrated peripherals specialized for CPE applications, 5VT has been recognized to be a ubiquitous chip supplier for applications including IP phones, VoIP ATAs, VoIP gateways, VoIP WLAN gateways, 802.11n WiFi AP routers and other IADs (integrated access devices). In production for over a year, the 5VT1310, 5VT1312 and 5VT1314 devices have enabled many cost-effective designs while maintaining reliable performance. Each device is tailored and packaged for a specific purpose.
IP Phone Reference Design
The Zarlink and 5VT solution is available as a reference design to qualified customers. The reference design outlines requirements for a basic IP phone with speakerphone capability. The design includes two Ethernet ports, along with an IP bridge supported by 5VT's SOC, expanded keypad and either a parallel or serial LCD module interface. The reference design can be easily modified to support feature-rich IP phones. For more information, please send an email to VoiceProcessing@Zarlink.com.

Jamaica Plain Residents to Benefit from Verizon Wireless Network ExpansionInvesting to Stay Ahead of Growing Demand for Wireless Voice, Multimedia and Internet Access
JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents in Suffolk County, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with a new cell site. The new site increases high-speed wireless data coverage and capacity along the VFW Parkway in Jamaica Plain.
This network expansion is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year, including nearly $318 million in New England in 2006 alone, to stay ahead of growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services. Since 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested $35 billion-on average $5 billion a year-into its national wireless network as part of its commitment to offer customers the most reliable service available, including wireless data services such as picture messaging, text messaging, BroadbandAccess high-speed internet and the company's exclusive V CAST service.
BroadbandAccess Revision A offers computer users the nation's most reliable high-speed wireless mobile broadband network, operating at average upload speeds between 500 and 800 kbps, and download speeds between 600 kbps and 1.4 mbps. V CAST brings video clips of TV shows, music on demand and other multimedia services to wireless phones over Verizon Wireless' high-speed EV-DO network.
Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the first quarter of 2007 as the company added 1.7 million net new customers and also reported the lowest customer turnover (highest customer loyalty) rate in the wireless industry.
The company's 'nation's most reliable wireless network' reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the "can you hear me now" national advertising campaign. Nationally, these test men and women drive nearly 100 specially equipped vehicles almost 1,000,000 miles annually on Interstate, U.S. and state highways as well as major roads and surface streets in high- population areas, based upon U.S. Census counts, to confirm that voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.
About Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless operates the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, serving 60.7 million customers. The largest US wireless company and largest wireless data provider, based on revenues, Verizon Wireless is headquartered in Basking Ridge, NJ, with 66,000 employees nationwide. for back-up power.
-- Keep phones, batteries, chargers and other equipment in a dry,
accessible location.
-- Maintain a list of emergency phone numbers - police, fire, and rescue
agencies; power companies; insurance providers; family, friends and co-
workers; etc. - and program them into your phone.
-- Distribute wireless phone numbers to family members and friends.
-- Forward your home phone calls to your wireless number if you will be
away from your home or have to evacuate.
The company also urges the following actions once a storm is on the way:
-- Limit non-emergency calls to conserve battery power and free-up
wireless networks for emergency agencies and operations.
-- Send brief TXT messages rather than voice calls for the same reasons as
above.
-- Check weather and news reports available on many internet-connected and
other wireless phones applications when power is out.
"We've seen first hand the need for reliable wireless communication before, during and after an emergency situation, which is why we work year-round to ensure that our network is ready," said Jeff Mango, president - Georgia/Alabama region for Verizon Wireless. "Because of our continued investment and preparation of our network across the state, we're confident we'll again provide stand-out reliability if severe weather strikes Georgia this year."
The Verizon Wireless network is built for reliability in emergencies, with battery back up power at all facilities and for additional reliability, generators installed at all switching facilities, and many cell site locations. The company also owns a fleet of portable generators that can be deployed to provide emergency power during extended power outages to those cell sites without permanent generators. *
Additional Verizon Wireless preparation for the 2007 hurricane season includes:
-- Verizon Wireless has invested $35 billion in the last seven years - $5
billion on average every year since the company was formed and more
than $6 billion in 2006 - to increase the coverage and capacity of its
national network and to add new services. These improvements fortify
Verizon Wireless' network to ensure operations during circumstances
such as the hurricane season.
-- Verizon Wireless is fully prepared to again quickly set up Wireless
Emergency Communication Centers* (WECCs) to serve residents and rescue
agencies in the area(s) in the greatest need.
-- The company has developed and practiced a comprehensive emergency
response plan, including preparing emergency command centers in the
case of a storm or crisis.
-- Verizon Wireless has a new Communications Store on wheels* ready to
roll. The 35-foot trailer will allow Verizon Wireless to maintain
retail operations in areas when company stores are not able to open or
when retail services are needed in areas where natural disaster
strikes, enabling customers to purchase the wireless phones and
accessories they need.
Verizon Communications' national wireline network of central office switching systems has backup power in the form of batteries and backup generators that automatically keep the switch running when commercial electrical power is lost. In addition, Verizon monitors traffic on the network around the clock, and can quickly manage calling and data traffic around problem areas. Much of Verizon's national inter-city network contains redundant and diverse routing so that customers can still make calls if one part of the network is damaged.

LSI Ships Industry's First 65nm Iterative Decoding Read ChannelsNew read channels increase data storage capacity and cut energy usage for computer HDDs
MILPITAS, Calif., June 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LSI Corporation today announced that it is shipping samples of new 65-nanometer read channels designed with iterative decoding. The new read channels increase the data storage capacity of hard disk drives (HDDs) in desktop computers and reduce power consumption by more than 20 percent in notebook computers, thereby extending battery life.
The LSI TrueStore(R) RC2500 for notebook and RC8800 for desktop applications are the industry's first available 65-nm read channels to use iterative decoding. Iterative decoding is the next generation of recording channel architecture that enables significant improvements in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for next generation of HDDs utilizing perpendicular recording technology. This gain in SNR increases the amount of data that an HDD can store.
The TrueStore RC2500 and RC8800 utilize similar firmware to maximize code reuse and integration and to leverage the industry-leading power consumption technologies across notebook and desktop volume applications. Low power consumption, especially in standby mode, is critical to battery life in notebooks and to higher reliability for desktop and digital video recorder applications. In addition, LSI has developed a new generation of test tools and techniques designed to deliver higher quality and improved reliability.
Ruediger Stroh, executive vice president and general manager of the LSI Storage Peripherals group, said, "The TrueStore RC2500 and RC8800 raise the bar in the industry for read channel performance by increasing storage capacity and reducing power consumption. These new read channels have been developed as part of the LSI total recording system design that includes a new 65-nm PHY, preamps, ARM(R) cores, hard disk controller IP. The system is designed as a whole to give HDD makers faster time to market, higher reliability, increased performance and lower overall power usage. No other company can offer the breadth of high performance storage IC products and storage systems that LSI delivers."
These two new innovative designs are built to be fully functional first silicon for high speed integration into Systems-on-a-Chip (SoCs) in 2007. LSI expects disk drive makers to begin shipping the new read channels in volume during the second half of 2008.
"Hard disk drive OEMs are hungry to increase the capacity per-platter of disk drives, but they have little appetite for power consumption," according to John Rydning, IDC's research manager for hard disk drives. "Solutions like the new LSI read channel technology that enable more hard disk drive storage capacity using less power will provide benefits for HDDs designed for both portable devices and datacenter applications."
A read channel encodes and decodes data and ensures the accuracy of all data read from or written to a, HDD. Read channels act as the linchpin of custom storage SoCs, which combine multiple functions, including hard disk controller, serial interface, processor, and memory on a single chip.
HDD manufacturers rely on LSI to deliver storage solutions that respond to a rapidly changing market while consistently establishing the industry leading standards in technology.

First Floating Point Digital Signal Controllers From TI Enable Greener Industrial ApplicationsTMS320F2833x DSCs Boost Performance 50 Percent and Simplify Software Development for Solar Power and Other Applications
HOUSTON, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Helping industrial control designers increase energy efficiency and system performance, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) today announced the industry's first floating point digital signal controllers (DSCs). The new TMS320F2833x devices provide 300 million floating point instructions per second (MFLOPS) performance at 150 MHz while providing the lower costs typically associated with fixed point processors. Simplified software development common to floating-point processors and the performance boost allows solar power inverters to more efficiently convert energy from photovoltaic (PV) panels, offers better power efficiency and performance to variable speed alternating current (AC) drives and provides greater performance for automotive radar applications. For more information on the new floating point F2833x controllers, see http://www.ti.com/f2833x.
Motor Control, Alternative Energy Look for Greater Efficiency and Performance
According to the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA), solar capacity will grow 397 percent to 5550 Megawatts from 2005 to 2010. The world's leading solar inverter manufacturers -- the majority of which use TI DSCs -- maximize their systems to peak efficiency through Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms and dynamic algorithm adjustments during various load conditions, including cloudy and low light days. F2833x controllers have the performance headroom to maximize these MPPT algorithms and dynamic adjustments while also integrating additional system features like data logging, power line communications (PLC) or inverter synchronization to the utility grid.
With the high integration and performance enabled by floating point F2833x controllers, robotics and computer numerical control (CNC) machines using AC induction motors will see both finer control and increased dynamic range. Systems designers using AC servo motors can now specify smaller, more energy efficient motors which, along with AC induction motors, IMS Research states, will drive an approximately eight percent yearly revenue growth for the industrial drive market. IMS Research also states that drives used in the AC induction motor segment are growing largely due to their ability to significantly lower the energy costs associated with running the motor. Demand for servo drives is linked to growth in precision applications such as machine tools, packaging machinery and semiconductor machinery, where the need for faster production cycles is leading to increased use of servo systems at the expense of mechanical ones.
New Controllers Increase Performance by an Average 50 Percent
The new F2833x floating point controllers will increase performance by an average of 50 percent over TI's previous leading digital signal controllers while operating at the same 150 MHz clock rate. Some algorithms, such as a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) used for complex calculations, will see a 200 percent improvement over an equivalent 32-bit fixed-point implementation. Overall system bandwidth is also increased with the addition of a six-channel direct memory access (DMA) controller that offloads the central processing unit (CPU) from servicing the ultra-fast, on-chip analog-to-digital converter (ADC) along with user-configurable 16- or 32-bit external memory interface and high-speed serial ports.
Simplified Development and Complete System Integration
Software developers typically begin creating algorithms in a floating-point environment for validation, and then convert the code to run on fixed-point devices. Now, however, developers can eliminate the weeks -- and often months - of time spent contending with scaling, saturation and adjustment of numerical resolution required in fixed-point implementations.
All F2833x controllers offer exceptional system integration for single-chip control applications from signal input to high-resolution control output. The on-chip 12-bit, 16-channel ADC operates at 12.5 mega-samples per second -- the fastest on-chip ADC operation of any digital signal controller in the industry today. The F2833x controller series features up to 18 pulse width modulation (PWM) channels, six of which include TI's unique high-resolution PWM (HRPWM) technology with 150 pico-seconds (ps) resolution. Communication interfaces include CAN, I2C, UART, SPI and TI's Multi-channel Buffered Serial Ports (McBSP).

Aruba Networks Receives Security Accreditation for U.S. Military Foxhole-To-Fortress Network Modernization ProgramWireless LAN and client-to-core security products approved by The United States Army Information Systems Engineering Command for use in the Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP)
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aruba Networks, Inc. , a global leader in secure mobility solutions, today announced that its wireless LANs and security solutions have been accredited for connecting the U.S. Army's new I3MP converged voice, data, and video network to wireless devices in tactical and garrison foxhole-to-fortress applications. I3MP is an enterprise information infrastructure modernization program for Army installations worldwide, and includes upgrades to voice, data, long-haul gateway, and enterprise management systems. Using accredited commercial off- the-shelf (COTS) products, such as Aruba's Mobility Controllers, access points, and client-to-core security solutions, the I3MP replaces antiquated and maintenance-intensive legacy systems with a state-of-the-art, secure, interoperable converged information system that provides primary communications during readiness, training, and deployment operations.
"The U.S. Army had a long list of very rigorous and demanding operational and security requirements for their wireless network," said Dan Brigati, Aruba's director of federal operations. "They needed a highly scalable, standards-based COTS wireless solution that met Department of Defense wireless network guidelines, was completely interoperable with existing clients and IT infrastructure, offered ultra high security, and would provide a seamless transition to the soon-to-be-mandated 802.11i standard. Aruba's solution met all of these requirements and was demonstrated to be scalable, interoperable, and secure. As a result the Army has constructed a wireless LAN template that allows for faster, less expensive, and better supported deployments worldwide using exclusively the tested architecture and accredited products."
The Department of Defense has demonstrated that wireless technologies can improve productivity but also have the potential to introduce security vulnerabilities. Left unmitigated these weaknesses can expose government information systems to attack, a situation that is especially worrisome when it limits a war fighter's ability to obtain secure access to critical information. To ensure that best security engineering practices and wireless network implementation policies are properly executed, the Department of Defense has established stringent guidelines for the design, implementation, and management of wireless devices and networks.
Aruba's client-to-core security solutions were designed from the ground-up to be secure, highly reliable, and support toll-quality voice, streaming video, and high-density data applications. "This accreditation validates that we accomplished our objectives and did so in one of the most demanding environments conceivable," continued Brigati. "Our centralized security and policy management proved both highly scalable and simple to use, and was completely effective in protecting sensitive cryptographic information. We look forward to working with The United States Army Information Systems Engineering Command as these advanced networks are rolled out in the field."
About Aruba Networks, Inc.
Aruba's user-centric architecture provides access to enterprise data, voice and video applications across wired and wireless LAN, WAN, and carrier networks without compromising security or mobility. Follow-me security and access policies are centrally managed and associated with users, not ports, and are enforced regardless of where users roam within or outside of the enterprise. Aruba's solution suite encompasses ArubaOS software running on a range of Mobility Controller hardware platforms, value-added application software modules including an enterprise FMC option, network management software, wired and wireless access points, and valued-added access point software modules including a secure enterprise mesh option for wire-free networking.
