Attention Mobile Shoppers: AT&T's MEdia Mall 2.0 Coming SoonMobile Application Portal Has Generated More Than $1 Billion in Sales Since Opening in 2004
SAN ANTONIO, March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Highlighting its commitment to bring the universe of mobile applications and content to consumers, AT&T today unveiled plans for a redesigned MEdia Mall, the company's one-stop shopping destination for mobile content. Since launching on AT&T mobile handsets in December 2004, millions of customers have visited MEdia Mall to load up on ringtones, games, videos and other applications -- generating more than $1 billion dollars in sales and helping spawn a wave of innovation among an ever-growing mobile developer community.
AT&T's MEdia Mall 2.0 is designed to be the ultimate source for personalizing your AT&T wireless phone. Like its predecessor, MEdia Mall 2.0 will feature more than 90,000 choices from more than 115 different content providers, including the new top-selling game, Guitar Hero 3. MEdia Mall 2.0 shoppers are just a click away from even more content with millions of additional full track songs, available from Napster Mobile and eMusic. From the "Ringtones" page, customers can click on the "Full Track Music" link to shop for music from capable handsets.
The storefront will be expanded on an ongoing basis, giving more developers an opportunity to reach the 70.1 million customers of America's leading provider of wireless services.
The grand opening of MEdia Mall 2.0, powered by software developer UIEvolution, is slated for next month on AT&T capable handsets, but the company is currently giving customers an opportunity to preview MEdia Mall 2.0 with an online mock-up of the mobile storefront at http://www.att.com/mediamall2 .
One of the cool new features of the enhanced MEdia Mall 2.0 is the ability to preview ringtones on a handset before you purchase it -- a capability that was previously only available from AT&T's Web site. Because more than 90 percent of AT&T customers purchase their mobile content directly from their phones, having the ability to "try before you buy" is a more friendly way to shop.
"We want to make MEdia Mall 2.0 the one-stop shop for customers who want to explore the universe of mobile content and applications," said Mark Collins, vice president of Consumer Data for AT&T's wireless unit. "By remodeling our mobile storefront, we're giving customers more choices and helping developers reach an ever-growing number of mobile consumers."
AT&T works with developers to create unique versions of applications and content that work with AT&T's wide variety of devices. Counted individually, including multiple versions of the same application designed for different devices, there are nearly 10 million pieces of mobile content and applications available on MEdia Mall.
In addition to previewing ringtones, customers will also be able to view screenshots of games and graphics before purchasing. The new and improved MEdia Mall 2.0 also offers customer purchase recommendations, providing a well-rounded customer experience.
Want to learn more about the ways that MEdia Mall 2.0 will put the hottest ringtones, graphics, games and more right at your fingertips? Visit the preview at http://www.att.com/mediamall2.

Wal-Mart Gives Consumers A Green Thumb This Spring With Eco-friendly Outdoor ProductsRetailer announces program to recycle millions of tires into rubber mulch
BENTONVILLE, Ark., March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Just in time for spring, Wal-Mart announces a program to create rubber garden mulch from recycled tires, a step in the company's ongoing commitments to reaching its zero waste goal and providing access to affordable eco-friendly products. The Majestic(TM) rubber mulch mini nuggets hit Wal-Mart store and Sam's Club shelves this week, joining a variety of eco-friendly products already available for the spring season.
More than 2.5 million tires will be recycled by Wal-Mart in 2008 to manufacture the eco-friendly garden mulch that is ideal for landscaping and covering play grounds, pools and pond areas. The rubber mulch is available in red or black, is non-toxic and latex-free, inhibits weed growth and does not compact or blow away, making it a great alternative to traditional mulch for environmentally conscious gardeners.
"We know consumers want to make the most of their time at home this spring and summer, and we want to provide them with product offerings that help create a safe outdoor family environment at the best value," said Andy Barron, senior vice president and general merchandise manager for Wal-Mart. "Our process of recycling millions of used tires into rubber mulch products is yet another way to help our customers live better while also helping the environment."
As consumers prepare to enjoy more time outdoors, Wal-Mart offers everything families need to create a fun and eco-friendly environment to celebrate spring and summer at home at a great value. From garden supplies to outdoor furniture to organic foods, Wal-Mart is the one-stop shop for consumers to prepare for a "green" spring season.
With planting season quickly approaching, Wal-Mart makes creating an environmentally conscious garden simple with several products. The Majestic rubber mulch joins rubber garden edging and tree rings already available at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club -- all made from 100 percent recycled tire rubber. In addition, gardeners can find environmentally safer pesticides and plants in biodegradable pots.
Families also can create an Earth-friendly outdoor entertaining haven beyond the garden with products like Forest Stewardship Council certified outdoor furniture. Barbeques and backyard picnics also can benefit the environment by incorporating organic fruits and vegetables, and all natural and organic meats available at select Wal-Mart Supercenters.

STMicroelectronics Completes Miniature Serial EEPROM Families with New 128Kbit and 64Kbit IntroductionsComprehensive, footprint-compatible families save space and cost, ease scalability
GENEVA, March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- STMicroelectronics , a world leader in non-volatile memory technology, today announced it is the first to offer a complete serial EEPROM portfolio from 2 Kbit to 128 Kbit in both I2C and SPI versions, with all family devices benefiting from space- saving Micro Leadframe (MLP) package technology. Three new devices in the 2 x 3 x 0.6mm MLP8 package now allow designers to choose from footprint-compatible devices at any required density, saving space, cost and development time.
The M95128 is the first 128-Kbit SPI device to reach the market in the MLP8 package size. As a further benefit, the device has a sub-3µA stand-by mode, allowing its use in energy-sensitive battery-powered products. The four- wire SPI interface supports communication at up to 2 Mbit/s, and also allows software-based write protection, in addition to standard protection implemented in hardware.
The 64-Kbit M24C64 and 128-Kbit M24128 complete ST's family of I2C devices in the MLP8 package, which the company first announced in March 2007. The built-in I2C interface supports 400-Kbit/s Fast Mode communication, operating as a slave on the I2C bus. Both devices reduce current draw to below 1 micron A in stand-by mode, to help extend battery life in portable and handheld products.
With their small size, high performance and wide range of capacities, this family of devices is ideal for applications including Bluetooth headsets and modules, wireless LAN adapters, portable media players, cellular handsets and smart phones, camcorders and digital still cameras. From a system designer's point of view, the operating voltage range is compatible with virtually all ASICs and chipsets. The M24C64 and M24128 are even specified to operate with power supplies as low as 1.7V.
Other valuable features include: a write-control input, byte- and page- write modes, random and sequential read modes, self-timed programming cycle and automatic address incrementing. Device lifetime is greater than one million write cycles, and data retention more than 40 years.
All of the devices in the I2C and SPI families, in the MLP-8 package and spanning densities from 2 Kbit to 128 Kbit, are available now. The M24C64-FMB6TG is priced at $0.24 in quantities of 1000 units, the M24128-FMB6TG at $0.34, and the M95128-RMB6TG at $0.48 in the same quantities.

Dow Corning Online Calculator Helps Manufacturers Identify Energy and CO2 Savings from Proper Lubrication
MIDLAND, Mich., March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- With just a few keystrokes on a new online tool from Dow Corning Corp., manufacturing plant managers can estimate their energy and emissions savings if they lubricated their equipment properly.
"A typical large manufacturing plant can have more than 80,000 lubrication points, any of which can create drag and friction, meaning more energy is needed and more emissions are created," said Phil Grellier, Dow Corning global solutions development manager. "The wrong lubricant, or the correct lubricant applied in the wrong manner, can be highly inefficient and even halt plant operations. With so much at stake, making sure that the equipment is properly lubricated is critical."
When users enter the number and types of equipment, such as motors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors and fans, and other variables such as the kilowatts needed to run them, the hours per day and days per year into the Dow Corning Molykote(R) Energy Savings Calculator, they are shown potential reductions in kilowatt hours, carbon dioxide emissions and the associated cost savings.
"The calculator can help manufacturers meet environmental sustainability goals and fulfill their commitment to innovative, energy-efficient solutions by understanding where they may be wasting energy," Grellier said.
The Molykote Energy Savings Calculator is available online at http://www.dowcorning.com/content/molykote/energysavingscalculator.aspx.

SAN FRANCISCO, March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Interop(R), the leading business technology event, produced by TechWeb (formerly CMP), today announced the addition of Energy Camp at the 2008 Las Vegas event. The one-day "unconference" style gathering designed to open up the conversation around sustainable solutions and methodologies for IT will take place on Monday, April 28th. Energy Camp is a collaborative "unconference" -- a gathering where attendees program discussion topics of their choice into an event's agenda -- that's dedicated to the reduction of IT's global carbon footprint. For the first time in Interop's history, audiences are invited to join this forum where all of the industry's stakeholders will gather together to discuss the growing impact of today's energy costs on IT's bottom line, and the overarching importance of energy conservation and utilizing greener IT solutions and methods. The one-day, all-day, program, happening on Monday, April 28th, will be lead by James Governor, co-founder and principal analyst of RedMonk and author of the Greenmonk.net blog, a community dedicated to the use of open source and social software methods and approaches to improve the environment and encourage good behaviors. "The 'unconference' model ensures an intimate focus on one of the most critical issues the industry is facing today: sustainable IT, delivering another piece of the big picture for our audiences at the forefront of the discussion."
"Getting to the unvarnished truth about what works and what doesn't and figuring out what solutions really deliver on the promise of energy savings is a difficult task," said Interop's Executive Conference Director and TechWeb blogger, David Berlind. "At Energy Camp we're going to get the conversation between all the stakeholders rolling. Not only will IT professionals come away with concrete action items and the beginnings of a long term plan, they'll have an opportunity to give feedback to the solution providers who've created all the noise in this space."

Country Music Stars Help Play MPE(TM) Spoof 'Mac vs. PC' Ads in 'Play MPE(TM) Single vs. CD' Spots Debuting at the Country Radio SeminarJoe Nichols, Jimmy Wayne and Julianne Hough Guest Star in Play MPE(TM) Spots
NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Announced from The Country Radio Seminar: Destiny Media Technologies (BULLETIN BOARD: DSNY) is pleased to announce that the radio and recording industry's global standard for secure digital distribution of pre-release music to radio, Play MPE(TM), has teamed up with some of Country Music's hottest young stars to spoof the now infamous "Mac vs. PC" ads, in its "Play MPE(TM) Single vs. CD Single" campaign. The new ad spots preceded the "New Faces Showcase" at the Country Music Seminar in Nashville, TN on Friday, March 7th.
The ad spots play off the characterization in the original Apple commercials, portraying the CD Single as the stodgy and antiquated Poindexter to the hip, young trendsetter of The Play MPE(TM) Single. The humorous sketches make light of the issues that come along with traditional CD distribution, including skipping, pirated copies and shipping problems, much to the chagrin of the oblivious CD character.
Celebrity guest appearances include Jimmy Wayne from Big Machine Records, Joe Nichols from Universal Records South singing his chart topping single "It Ain't No Crime," and Mercury Records Nashville's newest singing sensation and "Dancing With The Stars" winner Julianne Hough.
"The Country Music industry has supported Play MPE(TM) as the sole digital delivery service of choice," said Dean Ernst, VP Operations. "This year we felt we could have some fun with our version of the Apple ads with 'Play MPE(TM) Single vs. the CD' commercials at the annual Country Music Seminar. We are extremely grateful for the time and support of these artists and labels who helped us put together the ad spots."
About Play MPE

Nectar Debuts Enterprise Session Management SolutionSolution Delivers Enormous Telecom Cost Savings, Unifies disparate telephony platforms
ORLANDO, Fla., March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- VoiceCon Booth 1105 -- Nectar Services Corp., an IP communications and management services provider, wholly- owned subsidiary of Juma Technology Corp. , today officially debuted its Enterprise Session Management platform (ESM). The nectar/ESM solution provides carrier-class functionality, intelligent call routing and connects disparate phone systems to deliver enormous benefits to multi- location, enterprise customers.
The nectar/ESM platform employs carrier-class routing and session management functionality using a simple and intuitive web-based application.
With the solution, hundreds or even thousands of disparate PBXs are transformed to a unified enterprise telephony platform with intelligent call routing, revolutionary business continuity features and dramatic carrier- service cost reductions.
These interconnection capabilities, combined with the nectar/ESM interface, provides for global visibility and management of all voice traffic from the Nectar web portal.
"This solution completely changes how large enterprise customers handle telecommunications," said Albert Rodriguez, Vice-President of Product Management for Nectar. "Our nectar/ESM platform has the ability to interconnect disparate, hybrid PBX and IP PBX deployments while initiating policy based routing and capacity on demand. This intuitive interface enables our clients to take full advantage both carrier-class services and IP telephony."
"The nectar/ESM platform delivers tremendous value to large enterprise organizations as they transition to IP-convergence and unified communications," said Anthony Servidio, CEO and Chairman of Juma Technology, Nectar's parent company. "Our solution truly adds comfort to clients looking for the best solution and delivers a team of professionals with the know-how and experience to guide enterprise customers through this entire process."
A Smooth Transition to VoIP with nectar/ESM
The nectar/ESM platform enables businesses to accelerate their transition to VoIP without discarding existing telephony infrastructures. The solution interconnects disparate systems and locations using SIP or H.323 based gateways to create a unified architecture; preserving telecom investments while providing the benefits of IP telephony.
Intelligent Call Routing, Centralized Resources Provide Enormous Cost Savings
With carrier-class call routing and session management capabilities, the nectar/ESM solution provides enormous cost savings on telecom expenses.
"On-Net" Calling with nectar/ESM provides enterprises with the ability to move calls between offices using the corporate WAN. This dynamic "on-net" capability bypasses all inherent metered toll charges from traditional carriers.
Best Decision Routing enables enterprise organizations to adopt policy based routing to leverage cost, quality and business rules for all inbound and outbound calls routed by ESM. The nectar/ESM platform allows for the mixture of different carrier rates, cellular bypass and on-net calling, which enables calls to be placed using the most cost-effective route even when entering the PSTN or Cellular networks. Different Quality of Service (QoS) policies based on business requirements can be used to override cost when quality is more important.
Trunk Reduction is achieved by the centralization of dial tone access and capacity on demand. These resources are now shared throughout the organization to optimize utilization and drive down monthly recurring expense.
Branch Solution Delivered by nectar/ESM
The nectar/ESM platform solves a specific problem for branch offices and retail chains. Communications between branches and chains remains archaic, because of the stand-alone systems supporting each location. With nectar/ESM, hundreds of locations can now be unified without large upfront equipment expenses. This enables communication between the branches to improve customer support and centralizes resources to eliminate over-trunking. ESM allows calls to be centrally routed to and from branch locations assuring that customers are connected to the best resource regardless of the number dialed.
Global Enterprise Terex Corp Recognizes Benefits of nectar/ESM
Nectar has been working closely with Terex Corporation , a global manufacturer of capital equipment to pilot the solution, which brings together a unified view into their interconnected PBX and IP PBX systems, as well as Best Decision Routing and quality assurance capabilities.
"At this point in our engagement, the Nectar solution has already demonstrated great value to our global company," said Robert Mays, Director of Global Infrastructure of Terex Corporation. "We are extremely pleased with the solution's interoperability, which has delivered on a promise of unifying disparate PBX systems, and will soon enable a truly converged, global telecom network for our company once fully deployed."

"Our technology allows companies and government agencies to proactively find malicious insiders intent on doing harm, while also protecting well-intentioned employees from doing bad things by accident, or from bending the rules. If malicious incidents are found, we provide the visual forensics for investigations and evidentiary proceedings."
Other new SureView 6.0 enhancements include new diagnostic reporting for agent health status, agent summary information notifications and new filtering options to identify specific agents and health conditions.
SureView 6.0 improves investigation workflow by enabling users to filter events by status on the SureView dashboard and maintain user-defined filters throughout a session, allowing events to be filtered by event ID on the events page. It also introduces a data import-export tool that allows operators to select data to be exported from the central database and imported to another database. These new features allow customers to export and later delete specific data for review by selected investigators throughout an investigation. The SureView agent was also hardened to secure it against tampering, removal from a monitored workstation, or from being shut down.
CoreView is a network appliance-based insider threat protection solution that provides visual analysis of all content transfer and communication activities as they occur on the network. CoreView 6.0 enhancements include new support for IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) to provide comprehensive context for e-mail, new archiving capabilities that store event data collections, improved data indexing, and new diagnostic reporting for network collector health, communication, and performance statistics.
