"The VON Magazine Innovator Awards recognize the Internet Communications industry's best and brightest companies, and we're pleased to include Sonus Networks as a winner," said Bill Sell, Publisher, VON Media Group. "Companies like Sonus should take pride in their accomplishments as they represent the future of IP communications."
"We are committed to advancing innovation within our customers, and this drives us to constantly develop new solutions. It is a great privilege to receive the VON Magazine Innovator Award, as it validates our ability to provide market leading, innovative IP-based solutions," said Vikram Saksena, chief technology officer Sonus Networks. With its comprehensive IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution, Sonus addresses the full range of carrier applications, including residential and business voice services, wireless voice and multimedia, trunking and tandem switching, carrier interconnection and enhanced services. Sonus' vision of next-generation communications entails the real-time delivery of advanced voice and multimedia services, while optimizing the network to provide required safety and traditional call features.
The ceremony announcing the VON Magazine Innovator Award winners was held at Spring VON.x, in San Jose, CA on March 18th in the VON Theatre on the Expo floor. Also at the show, Sonus expert Bob Bradley will be participating on a panel discussing the current and future threats against IP-security as well the solutions network operators and enterprises can implement to ensure the best possible protection from threats. The panel will take place on Thursday, March 20 at 3:00 pm PT.
About IMX 2.0
IMX 2.0 enables network operators to embrace a Web-based model for application development; specifically, the ability to develop new applications quickly, rollout to a test audience, and scale as consumer demand validates the application. This process represents a dramatic shift from traditional telecom application development, which was resource and time intensive, and as a result, limited experimentation. For test applications that do show promise, IMX 2.0 is a carrier-grade platform that supports high levels of scalability and delivers applications over Sonus' field-hardened IP core.
IMX 2.0 is designed and built to enhance privacy while providing operators with the control they expect and require. When combined with Sonus' Network Border Switch, operators are able to securely deliver advanced IP-based features across network boundaries. Together, this advanced software helps carriers future-proof their networks. The ability to securely connect networks and deliver next-generation applications to the consumer or enterprise worker will allow the deployment of services more quickly with lower operational expenses and faster time-to-market.
IMX 2.0 supports a broad range of applications and devices that are interoperable with Sonus' platform today, while providing a robust foundation for the support of wireless and video applications. This simple, easy-to- manage platform was designed specifically to address network operators' most pressing business needs and provides support for the combination of traditional and advanced voice services in a highly secure IP framework.

ATLANTA, March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. announced today that the company plans to invest more than $120 million in the Georgia network in 2008 to expand wireless coverage. The planned investment will bring AT&T's three-year network investment in Georgia for wireless and wired services to nearly $1.5 billion.
AT&T plans to add more than 80 new cell sites in the state and will expand high speed third-generation (3G) coverage in the Columbus and Savannah markets. AT&T also provides 3G services in Atlanta and Athens.
"Our goal is to provide high-quality coverage and the ability to communicate wherever you are and however you want," said Cliff Minor, vice president and general manager for AT&T's wireless operations in Georgia. "Customers rely on us for exceptional service, and this investment is a testament that being the best communications and entertainment company for our customers is paramount."
AT&T has delivered dramatic changes in Georgia since introducing the 3G wireless broadband network in Atlanta in 2006. This year, AT&T will expand its current 3G network on more than 200 sites in the Atlanta area.
The planned expansion of the service area around Columbus, Savannah and other areas by the end of 2008 will bring AT&T's 3G wireless services to nearly 350 leading U.S. markets, including all of the top 100 cities.
The AT&T 3G wireless network delivers typical download speeds ranging from 600 to 1,400 kilobits per second (Kbps). AT&T's 3G wireless network allows customers to use their 3G handsets to quickly access feature-rich wireless content, including videos, games, pictures, music, entertainment, news and weather, through MEdia Net, the company's mobile Internet portal. AT&T's 3G customers also can take advantage of Video Share, a first-of-its-kind technology in the U.S. that allows users to share live video during a wireless call. Additionally, the AT&T 3G network offers AT&T LaptopConnect mobile customers faster speeds for their laptops and the ability to send and receive large files or access to the Internet, their company's intranet or corporate e-mail from anywhere within the 3G network.
"We're committed to the state of Georgia," said Sylvia Anderson, president of AT&T Georgia. "AT&T's investments will have a positive impact on economic development at both the state and community levels, in addition to the benefits that our customers will receive."
AT&T's wireless network is based on Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) technology, the most open and widely used network platform in the world. The company is already establishing a path to develop a 4G network. AT&T plans to roll out the nation's first High Speed Packet Access (HSUPA) network by midyear, which will provide even faster capabilities to HSUPA-enabled laptop users and allow them to send large files and take advantage of the latest interactive Internet and business applications.

"The UEWR at Thule builds on the radars that we've already deployed to Beale Air Force Base, Calif., and Royal Air Force Fylingdales, U.K., and will add significantly more surveillance coverage for the U.S. missile defense mission."
The Missile Defense Agency awarded Raytheon IDS the UEWR Thule contract in April 2006. As the prime contractor, Raytheon will integrate new electronics, computer hardware and mission software to upgrade the existing two-faced, phased-array antenna facility at the remote site. Raytheon will also support integrated tests of the Thule UEWR, performing both missile defense and legacy missions.
Developed by Raytheon IDS, the UEWR continues Raytheon's 30-year heritage of Ultra High Frequency phased-array radars. The UEWRs add missile defense capabilities to the Raytheon-developed PAVE PAWS and Ballistic Missile Early Warning System radars, while continuing their missile warning and space surveillance missions, which are performed by U.S. Air Force Space Command. The radar is a key sensor for the Missile Defense Agency's Ballistic Missile Defense System, providing target detection and tracking to protect the U.S. and other nations from ballistic missile attacks.
Integrated Defense Systems is Raytheon's leader in Joint Battlespace Integration providing affordable, integrated solutions to a broad international and domestic customer base, including the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, the U.S. Armed Forces and the Department of Homeland Security.
Raytheon Company, with 2007 sales of $21.3 billion, is a technology leader specializing in defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world. With a history of innovation spanning more than 85 years, Raytheon provides state-of-the-art electronics, mission systems integration and other capabilities in the areas of sensing; effects; and command, control, communications and intelligence systems, as well as a broad range of mission support services. SAN ANTONIO, March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Going on a trip? Whether it's a spring break cruise to the islands or a business meeting in Hong Kong, AT&T has you covered. With the largest international footprint of any wireless provider, only AT&T Inc. customers can make and receive calls in more than 200 countries and on 75 major cruise ships. AT&T also offers e-mail and Web browsing capabilities in more than 145 countries.
Among the countries in which wireless data coverage is available, AT&T customers can access the high speed EDGE network in more than 95 countries and ultrafast 3G data service in more than 60 countries, including Japan and South Korea. AT&T customers can also keep in touch with family and friends while at sea with wireless service on 75 cruise ships worldwide, including Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruise Lines.
During peak travel season, which begins with spring break and runs through summer vacation into early fall, many tourists and business people travel to Europe, and many will be traveling to the Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, this year.
Because AT&T's wireless network operates on GSM technology -- the world standard -- customers can easily connect around the globe by using the same phone and wireless number they use at home. With "plus" dialing, a feature unique to GSM technology, callers simply dial +, followed by the country code and phone number. To call back to the U.S., for example, callers need only dial +, the country code, 1 and the 10-digit phone number from anywhere overseas.
"The ability to use AT&T service around the world not only makes international travel easier and more convenient, it also provides our customers with the peace of mind that comes from knowing they can still be reached by family, friends and business colleagues on the same wireless number they use at home," said Bill Hague, executive vice president of International for AT&T's wireless unit. "AT&T is the only wireless carrier in the world that can connect customers in more than 200 countries."
Complementing its industry-leading international coverage, AT&T also offers customers the broadest array of world phones among U.S. wireless service providers. With 49 quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) devices available, such as the Nokia 6085, the BlackBerry(R) Curve 8310 and the LG Shine, AT&T now offers several devices that also work in Japan and South Korea, where a 3G device that operates on 2100 MHz frequency is required -- a significant benefit to customers because one device now works truly everywhere around the world. Livingston, Wyoming and Steuben County Residents to Benefit From Verizon Wireless Network ExpansionInvesting to Stay Ahead of Growing Demand for Wireless Calling, Data Access, and Music
ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents in Livingston, Wyoming and Steuben Counties, Verizon Wireless has expanded its network with new cell sites in Geneseo and Perry, and the addition of EVDO Revision A technology -- the technology behind the company's high-speed wireless broadband network -- to cell sites in Dansville and Cohocton.
-- The new site in Geneseo improves coverage along Route 20A between Avon
Road and Route 390, and along Route 390 between exits 7 and 8.
-- The new site in Perry improves coverage along Route 39 from Keeney
Road to Chapman Avenue, and Route 20A from Coe Road to Keeney Road.
-- The addition of EVDO Rev. A technology to the Dansville and Cohocton
sites enhances BroadbandAccess service in the area.
This network expansion is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services. Verizon Wireless has invested nearly $44 billion since it was formed -- more than $5 billion on average every year -- to increase coverage and capacity and to offer customers the most reliable service available in the nation.
Services include wireless data services such as picture messaging, text messaging, V CAST and V CAST Music, ESPN MVP and BroadbandAccess, the company's high-speed wireless broadband network geared toward mobile professionals and business customers. It provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second (mbps), and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.
Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the fourth quarter of 2007 as the company added 2 million new customers. Verizon Wireless is the leader in wireless customer loyalty, reporting the lowest customer turnover (highest customer loyalty) rate in the industry -- 1.2% in the fourth quarter -- for the 13th consecutive quarter.
The company's "nation's most reliable wireless network" reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the "Can you hear me now" national advertising campaign. These engineers drive nearly 100 specially equipped vehicles over 240,000 miles on average each quarter on Interstate, US and state highways, as well as major roads and surface streets. Test vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than 750,000 voice call attempts and more than four million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.
Last year, Verizon Wireless introduced its 30-day Test Drive, an industry first that lets customers experience its network virtually risk-free for 30 days. If customers are not satisfied with their experience and take their number to another carrier, Verizon Wireless will refund their money for calls, equipment, activation fee and taxes. Supply Chain Integrator Switches to Microsoft Dynamics AX From Oracle for Major Cost SavingsPACCESS anticipates savings of $1 million over five years in total cost of ownership, with faster and easier reporting than with previous technology.
REDMOND, Wash., March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Microsoft Corp. today announced that PACCESS, a global supply chain integrator based in Portland, Ore., has selected Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 as its enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, replacing an Oracle 11.0.3 system that had become very expensive to maintain and too limited in its ability to meet the company's needs. Microsoft Dynamics AX is a comprehensive business-management solution providing midsize and larger companies with end-to-end, industry-specific functionality, enabling them to do business across locations and countries.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000822/MSFTLOGO)
PACCESS chose Microsoft Dynamics AX because it allows many disparate systems to be unified under one core application at a lower total cost of ownership. These factors were crucial to PACCESS, a global service company whose paper, packaging, and sourcing divisions integrate procurement, logistics, distribution, and fulfillment services to meet their customer's specific supply chain needs.
Previously PACCESS faced expensive upgrades to its Oracle system, which it had modified repeatedly to meet its business process requirements. Scaling the system was very costly. "We tried to add five users, but we would have had to pay Oracle $365,000 because of a license-model change," said Nina Palludan, vice president of IT for PACCESS. "The five-year total cost of ownership for Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 was more than $1 million less than Oracle's, even though we already owned the Oracle software. Actually rebuying the Oracle e-business suite would have cost less than upgrading our current licenses."
Furthermore, training costs for employees were far lower with Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 than they would have been with the Oracle solution. The Microsoft solution uses a very familiar interface, similar to that of the Microsoft Office system. Employees intuitively understand how to use and navigate through Microsoft Dynamics applications. Therefore personnel need not be pulled away from their work for training sessions. With minimal instruction, they grasp Microsoft Dynamics functionality easily as they work, avoiding downtime.
PACCESS, working with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Hitachi Consulting Corp. of Dallas, Texas, implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0. The new technology integrated seamlessly with the other Microsoft applications the company was using, including Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server databases, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and the Microsoft Office system.
"The overall lower cost of ownership with Microsoft Dynamics AX will allow us to focus our resources more effectively and bring more service to internal and external customers," Palludan said.
Beyond the cost advantages, PACCESS anticipates gaining a number of other important benefits:
-- Improved reporting. The company had found it difficult to retrieve data
from the Oracle system for employees and partners efficiently. Now
PACCESS can empower users to retrieve data, through built-in report and
query tools, alerts, favorites and SQL Report Writer. With Microsoft
Dynamics AX, PACCESS can now generate a customized report in hours
instead of the weeks previously required to obtain even a standardized
report.
-- Ease of use. Microsoft Dynamics AX is much more intuitive than the
company's previous system, with an environment similar to that of
Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Office applications. With a
centralized page containing customized capabilities and information for
each category of employees, based on their roles, most users will be
able to work with their applications from one screen in Microsoft
Dynamics AX.
-- Integration of data. Whereas PACCESS had previously been drawing its
information from a number of sources, the Microsoft solution allows it
to bring together all its key information into one database,
eliminating the many versions of documents that it had to sort out
before. Everyone now will have access to the same up-to-date
information that they can trust to be accurate and timely.
-- Support for growth. Because Microsoft Dynamics AX is easy to scale and
easy to use, it can grow as the business expands, enabling PACCESS to
roll out new features and functions around the globe as they are needed
in the future.
-- Better planning. PACCESS had been using Microsoft Office Excel
spreadsheets for its scheduling. Microsoft Dynamics AX allows it to
adopt a more full-featured master planning module that will produce
more accurate forecasts, procurement and delivery across the company
and its supply chain.
-- Supply chain management. PACCESS is implementing improvements in its
own supply chain, and Microsoft Dynamics AX will produce the results
the company needs in this endeavor, including more accurate forecasts
and logistics planning, cost savings on materials and freight, and a
degree of visibility across the entire supply chain that was not
possible before with multiple, nonintegrated solutions.
-- Industry-specific requirements. PACCESS found Microsoft Dynamics AX to
be the only technology able to handle, in one solution, the detailed
requirements for offering products and services spanning many
traditional industrial boundaries.
-- IT support and management. The very strong IT staff at PACCESS gains a
functionally powerful ERP technology with a state-of-the-art
development environment that will add significant value to the company.
"Global companies are finding ways to simultaneously save money and advance their processes with the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics AX," said Michael Park, corporate vice president for Microsoft's U.S. Dynamics business. "Companies that seek new business management systems are looking for solutions that are simpler to use, less costly to own and easier to scale than their existing solutions. Around the world, companies are finding these benefits in Microsoft Dynamics AX, an ERP solution designed for growing businesses."

How Do You Spell 'Restaurant'? This Easter You Don't Need to Know
CARY, N.C., March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Does the word "restaurant" have two "e's" or one? Where does that "u" go? When searching online for the best local restaurants for Easter dinner, you may not take the time to check your spelling. Luckily, DexKnows.com(TM), Dex's comprehensive, feature-rich local online local search site, is there to help.
"While most people still refer to the widely used Dex print Yellow Pages directories for information on local businesses, thousands also use DexKnows.com to search for restaurants around particular holidays, such as Easter and Mother's Day," said Jeff Porter, vice president, DexKnows.com. "With all of those searches, it's inevitable there will be misspellings. DexKnows.com is both smart and fast enough to provide pinpoint information on the businesses that people want, regardless of how terms are spelled."
The most misspelled search term on http://www.dexknows.com/ during 2007 was the word "restaurant." People typing the term into DexKnows.com used many different variations, including "resturants," "resturant," "restarants," and "restraunts." Regardless, DexKnows.com successfully provided users with thousands of accurate and complete restaurant-related business listings.
Included with the listings is additional information that will help people determine which restaurant is right for them. People can view user-generated ratings and reviews to see if the local steak house received five stars, how the service is at the Italian restaurant down the street, and whether that critically acclaimed new Chinese restaurant lives up to the hype. Consumers can also use DexKnows.com's comparison tools to see which establishments have the most convenient locations and hours -- as well as those that accept reservations. Other enhanced features include itinerary planning, mapping and more.
People who do not want to worry about misspellings of any kind can also still turn to the original search tool -- Dex's print Yellow Pages. Consumers in the 28 states that Dex serves can use the print directories to find detailed information on local restaurants and more. The combination of print directories and DexKnows.com provides consumers with a powerful combination of tools for all of their local search needs.

New Survey Finds Gaps in U.S. BroadbandIndustry professionals dissatisfied with broadband availability and definition
NAPERVILLE, Ill., March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sixty-five million Americans depend on broadband services for work, education, entertainment and communications. But too many other Americans have no access to broadband services, according to a new telecom industry survey.
Aggravating the country's broadband gap is the current Federal Communications Commission (FCC) definition of broadband, 200 kilobits per second. At that rate, it takes longer to download a movie than to watch it. The survey, commissioned by Tellabs, reflects responses from 451 readers of leading U.S. telecom publications.
Expanding broadband availability
Respondents strongly support expanding broadband availability in the United States, especially in under-served rural areas. The lack of broadband availability, whether due to geographic or economic reasons, hurts productivity.
* 89% think lack of broadband access hurts an individual's educational,
productivity and employment potential.
* 81% think America should use some of the current Universal Service Fund
to expand rural broadband.
* 79% think where you live should not dictate broadband availability.
* 77% think economic status should not determine broadband availability.
"I find this survey of the telecom industry's perspective stimulating and insightful," said Ron Westfall, research director at Current Analysis. "A more accurate definition of what broadband is only helps elevate the debate and better frames the serious challenges we face. And whatever industry solution is eventually worked out, it's obvious the telecom industry will have a central role to play in further expanding access and the services that run over broadband access."
Redefining broadband
Industry professionals called for a new definition of broadband. An overwhelming 94% of respondents said that the current FCC definition of broadband does not deliver a true broadband experience. In fact, 84% of respondents feel that a better definition of broadband is a service that can deliver high-quality streaming video.
Broadband plays a critical role in U.S. productivity, innovation and economic growth. The United States ranks 15th globally in broadband penetration measured against population, according to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
* 84% think that the United States trailing so many other nations in
broadband penetration is a serious problem.
* 93% think broadband is essential for continued Web 2.0 innovation.
"We already have the technology and the business infrastructure to take America's broadband capabilities into the next generation and make this country the world leader in the provisioning of ultra high bandwidth services," said Joe Savage, president of the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Council. "Indeed, the deployment of these services is already under way, with more than 2.5 million American homes now connected directly into high speed fiber networks. But we need to ensure that national, state and local policies encourage, and do not inhibit, every community's progress toward the high bandwidth future that is so important to our economic competitiveness."
"Broadband is crucial for keeping America competitive educationally and economically," said Dan Kelly, executive vice president for global products for Tellabs. "There's no reason why the United States should trail other countries when it comes to broadband penetration. Our industry sees the clear need to expand broadband availability for all Americans."

Most Home Announces Launch of Wireless Realty(TM) Consumer EditionInnovative new service provides consumers with mobile real estate search capabilities, and agents with new source of high-value leads
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Most Home Real Estate Services Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Most Home Corp. (BULLETIN BOARD: MHME) and a leading provider of wireless solutions to the North American real estate industry today announced the launch of Wireless Realty(TM) CE (Consumer Edition), an innovative consumer wireless service that enables home buyers to search Multiple Listing System (MLS) information from the convenience of their mobile phone. Wireless Realty CE debuted at MarketLinx's Tempo Users Group Meeting in Laguna Beach, California on March 18, 2008. The new on-demand mobile service is available to consumer markets through real estate boards, associations, and MLS's across North America.
"We're incredibly excited to be launching our new consumer wireless service," said Jim Secord, president of Most Home Real Estate Services. "The cell phone is quickly becoming tomorrow's desktop PC. It's the most interactive and frequently used device of all time. We're in the infant stages of a mobile revolution called mobile search and it's fueled by a growing consumer appetite for on-demand information. Consumers want information fast and they want results that matter, from wherever they are. Wireless Realty CE provides a mobile consumer gateway to real estate information direct from the most complete and up-to-date source, the local MLS."
Powered by the real estate industry's most widely adopted mobile search platform, Wireless Realty CE allows consumers to search all active listings -- anytime, anywhere -- from their web-enabled phones and quickly retrieve real-time MLS data. Searches can be initiated by location, street address, agent name, or MLS number. With a single click, the home buyer can connect instantly with the listing agent via phone or email, generating a source of market-knowledgeable, high-value prospects for real estate professionals.
By providing a convenient and intuitive service for consumers to access property data and connect with REALTORS(R), real estate boards and associations can empower the new mobile consumer to take more control over the information gathering stage of the real estate transaction and have more focused and productive interactions with their REALTOR(R). DealerTrack Announces Stock Repurchase Program
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DealerTrack Holdings, Inc. today announced that its board of directors has authorized a stock repurchase program under which DealerTrack may spend up to $75 million to repurchase its common stock.
"Our Board's decision to authorize this repurchase program reflects our ongoing commitment to the enhancement of shareholder value as well as our confidence that the current market price levels do not appropriately reflect the intrinsic value of the company," said Mark O'Neil, chairman and chief executive officer of DealerTrack. "We believe that our strong financial position with more than $220 million in cash as of December 31, 2007 will allow us to implement this program prudently, while continuing to invest in the growth of our business," Mr. O'Neil concluded.
Stock repurchases under this program may be made on the open market, through 10b5-1 programs, or in privately negotiated transactions in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations. The transactions may be made from time to time without prior notice and in such amounts as management deems appropriate and will be funded from cash on hand. The number of shares to be repurchased and the timing of repurchases will be based on several factors, including the price of DealerTrack's common stock, legal or regulatory requirements, general business and market conditions, and other investment opportunities. The stock repurchase program will expire on March 31, 2009, but may be limited or terminated at any time by the Board of Directors without prior notice.
The company had approximately 42.6 million shares of common stock outstanding as of February 1, 2008.
