comScore Releases Top U.K. Web Rankings for February 2008

    LONDON, March 25 /PRNewswire/ --

    - Valentine's Day Drives Traffic to Flowers, Gifts & Greetings Sites

    - New Firefox Browser Helps Mozilla Organisation Grow to More than 3 Million Visitors

comScore, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its February rankings of the largest and fastest-growing Internet properties and site categories in the U.K. based on data from the comScore World Metrix audience measurement service.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080115/COMSCORELOGO)

Online visitation figures traditionally dip slightly in February, since the shortness of the month means that there are fewer days on which visits can be recorded. Nonetheless, Valentine's Day helped drive a strong increase in traffic to the Flowers/Gifts/and Greetings category, which grew 28 percent from January to nearly 7 million visitors in February. Auto manufacturer, career resources and e-cards categories also experienced gains.

Uptake of its new Firefox Internet browser drove visitors to the Mozilla Organisation, which experienced a 48-percent increase to 3.1 million visitors. Fish4Sites grew 24 percent to 3.3 million visitors, driven largely by a jump in visitors to careers resource property, Fish4jobs.

Motorola Expands Canopy(R) Portfolio With New 400 SeriesOFDM-based Access Points and Subscriber Modules provide high performance, scalability, and ease-of-use to extend coverage and expand services

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola Inc. announced today that it is extending the reach of its field-proven Canopy wireless broadband system with the introduction of the 400 series of access points and subscriber modules in the 5.4 GHz spectrum. Based on Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology, which provides improved near-line of sight (nLOS) and non-line of sight (NLOS) coverage, the Canopy 400 series allows service providers and enterprise network owners to extend broadband network coverage into urban areas where obstructions and foliage have limited system expansion.

By leveraging OFDM technology in the access and backhaul layers, the Canopy 400 series significantly enhances overall network performance and reach. The modules offer higher throughputs, up to 21Mbps, and extended range, accompanied with GPS synchronization to mitigate self interference. The Canopy 400 series modules, part of the MOTOwi4(TM) Fixed Point-to-Multipoint portfolio, are now available in Europe, Middle East and Africa and soon in Latin America. North America availability is pending final FCC certification.

With these capabilities, service providers can offer applications such as high speed data transfer, video surveillance, Voice over IP (VoIP), and gaming to subscribers who were not previously reachable. Enterprise network operators can also benefit from this series of products to extend connectivity to urban areas and business parks where line of sight is not always available or for inexpensive backhaul access.

"The Canopy 400 Series allows us to expand our network in environments not previously possible and do so cost-effectively, providing more revenue to our bottom line," said Stig Petterson, CEO and Technical Manager, Totalnett AS, a Norwegian Wireless Service Provider. "We now have the ability to reach underserved customers with an economical, reliable solution."

The Canopy 400 series AP and SM products easily integrate to existing Canopy networks and exhibit the same ease of deployment and reliable operation as the rest of the Canopy portfolio. Many of the Canopy accessories can also be used with this new series of products.

"Meeting the needs of a wide variety of customers can be challenging. The introduction of the Canopy 400 series is an additional option in our wireless broadband portfolio enabling service providers to reach more end users," said Phil Bolt, Senior Director, Motorola Wireless Broadband Engineering and Product Management. "This new offering is one more way in which Motorola maintains the commitment to providing reliable, high-quality wireless broadband solutions at a low investment."

The Canopy(R) 400 series is a component of the wi4 Fixed family of broadband solutions, part of the MOTOwi4(TM) portfolio of solutions for public and private networks which also includes wi4 Mesh, wi4 Indoor and wi4 WiMAX.

Bioscience Company Chooses Microsoft Dynamics AX to Improve Support for Compliance With Industry RulesPURE Bioscience picks Microsoft technology over competitors for its ease of use, scalability and manufacturing capabilities.

REDMOND, Wash., March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Microsoft Corp. today announced that PURE Bioscience has selected Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 to speed and integrate its business processes, helping to support the company's compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and with the requirements of numerous regulatory authorities, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States. Microsoft Dynamics AX is a comprehensive business-management solution for midsize and larger organizations that offers a high degree of scalability, customizability and full industry-specific functionality. It helps optimize and centralize supply chain processes and improves real-time visibility into operations.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000822/MSFTLOGO)

PURE Bioscience, headquartered in El Cajon, Calif., develops and markets technology-based bioscience products that provide nontoxic solutions to numerous global health challenges. As a public company, PURE needed to remain compliant with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. It also sought a way to produce its financials more rapidly because its growth would move the company into the category of an accelerated Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filer during 2008.

PURE had been relying significantly on legacy systems and spreadsheets for financial operations, but management saw a need to both integrate its data and find advanced technology for automating its processes to help manage the significant growth and increased complexity that the company anticipated.

The company evaluated a number of enterprise resource planning solutions to support its manufacturing and financial requirements, including FourthShift Edition for SAP Business One, before selecting Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.

"We chose Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 for multiple reasons," said Michael L. Krall, CEO of PURE Bioscience, "including ease of use, the Microsoft look and feel that employees are accustomed to, the ability for the company to grow with the solution, the ability of the solution to handle process manufacturing, favorable scalable pricing for a medium-sized business, well- defined validation methodologies, speed to go live, and the ability to continue to meet our SEC reporting obligations as we transition out of the small-business reporting category."

Working with PURE, Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Advanced Systems Integration Inc. of Lake Forest, Calif., will implement Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 Advanced Management Edition with additional source code that allows customization of proprietary processes and procedures that could not be met by any other solution.

"The ability to purchase and add modules, such as Production II or Shop Floor Control, in the future as we grow played an important part in our decision," Krall said. "The new system will be integrated seamlessly with other Microsoft products that PURE has been using, including the 2007 Microsoft Office system, Windows XP Professional, SQL Server 2005 and Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition."

"We expect Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 to enhance our ability to manage the anticipated growth in our bioscience technology across multiple industries and applications, both within the United States and internationally," said Andrew J. Buckland, CFO at PURE Bioscience.

PURE Bioscience foresees the following benefits from its implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0:

-- Support for growth. One of the primary objectives of the implementation is to provide PURE with a technology that will allow for management of considerable growth. -- Industry-specific requirements. In addition to financial-related regulatory compliance, Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 will support processes that enable PURE to meet regulatory reporting obligations to the U.S. EPA and to maintain its FDA Current Good Manufacturing Practices certification for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 ensures data integrity and transparency using security features while reporting variances and communicating material events. -- Improved reporting. Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 will enable the company to produce statutory accounting and management information more rapidly than before, helping it to remain compliant with regulatory reporting while allowing management to make business decisions that are more timely and effective. -- Time savings. Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 will significantly shrink the time needed to produce financial reports, supporting the company's needs for faster reporting as it becomes an accelerated SEC filer. -- Accuracy of data. Instead of relying on spreadsheets and multiple systems and processes, PURE will take advantage of the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 capability to integrate many routines into one, eliminating repetitive data entry and thereby increasing accuracy. -- Better planning. Both business planning and resources planning are expected to improve with PURE's new Microsoft technology. -- More efficient supply chain management. Previously, supply chain management was largely a manual process for PURE. Now it will be automated to a large extent, providing the company with the capability to support the larger and more complex manufacturing processes that it anticipates.

"PURE Bioscience is realizing the value that Microsoft Dynamics AX brings to businesses in helping them meet the specific needs of their own industries," said Michael Park, corporate vice president for U.S. Dynamics Business at Microsoft. "As the manufacturing and regulatory environments become more complex, Microsoft technology is simplifying and integrating processes to enable businesses to accelerate their growth and fully employ their competitive advantages, while helping to ensure they remain compliant with government and industry regulations."

    About PURE Bioscience

PURE Bioscience (PURE) develops and markets technology-based bioscience products that provide non-toxic solutions to numerous global health challenges. Its proprietary high- efficacy/low toxicity bioscience technologies represent innovative advances in diverse markets and lead today's global trend toward use of "green" products while providing competitive advantages in efficacy and safety.

CHICAGO, March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Open Text(TM) Corporation , a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), today announced that RedDot, the Open Text Web Solutions Group, has released its Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Document Management Integration.

A successful Web strategy includes the ability to deliver content in context to all visitors. Whether the business initiatives encompass employee productivity on an intranet, customer or partner communication via a secure extranet, or managing localized sites for a strong global strategy; content is the crux of how these goals can be achieved. "As part of our strategic leadership in bringing new solutions for the Microsoft platform to the market, we are pleased to add this integration enhancement to our portfolio of leading content management and delivery solutions," said Daniel Kraft, President, RedDot, the Open Text Web Solutions Group.

RedDot's integration solution embraces the SharePoint Server 2007 technology by offering value-added features and benefits that include:

Users can link documents via the publishing system to any online target with secure and controlled access from any location. - Access different document versions: Administrators can select a specific version of a document to publish with granularity to access previous or minor versions as well. - Publish document attributes and metadata from SharePoint Server 2007: The descriptive attributes and metadata of a document help to drive personalization and a rich online user experience. Web content editors can publish document metadata to any online target for classification, search or interactive user insight.

As organizations look to invest in SharePoint Server 2007, this integration release will help them create, access and publish assets out to the web with ease, with the added benefit of being able to extend their technology investment.

Overstock Enhances Car Shopping PortalSite Now Includes: Clearance Lot, Innovative Graphing Tool

SALT LAKE CITY, March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Through newly formed partnerships, it is now possible to access more than 3.5 million used and 200,000 new vehicles though the website of Overstock.com, Inc. at http://cars.overstock.com/. The site has also just introduced two new features to help shoppers easily find discounted vehicles available in their local market.

Clearance Lot(TM) Highlights Local Bargains Overstock's Clearance Lot algorithmically filters and sorts cars with the best prices located within a customer's local market, highlighting the greatest discounts for customers looking for a vehicle at a bargain price. Shoppers can save time and be among the first to learn about great deals in their area by opting to receive weekly e-mail updates of new Clearance Lot specials. Graphing Tool Enhances Used-Vehicle Searches The site displays an innovative graphing tool that illustrates search results for available used-vehicles, allowing customers to compare mileage and price. Shoppers can then refine their search results by variables such as engine size, vehicle color and other specific features, such as a navigation system. The graphing tool then arranges the data in a scatter plot graph that shows shoppers not only the numbers of used-vehicles that match their search criteria, but also plots the search results based on price and mileage, making it easy to spot the best deals quickly.

The redesigned Overstock Cars site eliminates the traditional negotiation process that many customers find uncomfortable. "Shoppers receive a written quote of discounted and guaranteed price," said Overstock Senior Vice President Jacob Hawkins. "In addition, Overstock Cars monitors the entire sales process for the customer to confirm that dealers deliver on their promises."

The site is now more consistent with the Overstock shopping site format, navigation layout, and price display. "During the last year we have paid careful attention to shopper feedback and adjusted the site accordingly," said Tyler Anderson, Director of Overstock Cars. "The new site is designed to make locating a car as easy as possible for bargain hunters and those simply looking for a better car-buying experience."

Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne added, "We see this as a natural extension of our business model: working to make it easy for consumers to find the best prices on everything they want quickly, easily, and with one unified experience."

Vimicro Launches Latest Video Processor for Laptop Embedded Cameras

Lowest Power Consumption, Smallest Size of Any Other Vimicro Processor for PC

    and Laptop Camera

BEIJING, March 25 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vimicro International Corporation , a leading fabless semiconductor company that designs advanced mixed-signal multimedia products and solutions, today announced the launch of its latest Web camera processor, VC0343, targeting laptop embedded applications. With Vimicro's accumulated rich experience in Web camera processor design, VC0343 can not only reduce the power consumption and the package size of a chip, but also has excellent compatibility and design flexibility.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070528/CNM014LOGO )

"The market for laptop embedded camera modules is rapidly growing," said Dr. Mike Yu, Vice President of Vimicro. "The design of VC0343 is optimized specifically for the requirements of laptop embedded camera modules. Some excellent features such as low power consumption and compact size are very suitable for laptop embedded applications, making the camera module an essential component for the standard configuration of a laptop."

As a result of the new design, VC0343 can significantly reduce the power consumption and the package size of a chip. The lower power consumption makes the laptop's battery life longer and reduces the camera module's heat. Therefore, the camera can provide stable and clear video without the sensor's hot noise which is generated by the working camera. VC0343's compact size (6.5 x 5mm) allows the camera modules to be easily embedded into laptops' LCD panel and keeps the laptop slim.

VC0343 has outstanding performance on compatibility and design flexibility. VC0343 is able to work well with the latest operating systems and PC hardware platforms. Having adopted OTP (One Time Programmable ROM) and Firmware Patch technologies, VC0343 offers great flexibility for manufacturers to design the camera module. The OTP technology enables VC0343 to upgrade the Firmware easily. Vimicro's innovative Firmware Patch technology allows the camera module manufacturers to make partial modifications to the firmware through external EEPROM memory even after OTP replication is completed.

The quality of VC0343's output video stream upholds the high standards of Vimicro's Web camera processor. With the integrated CMOS sensor interface and programmable sensor master clock output, VC0343 can support the CMOS sensor with resolution of up to 2 Mega pixels. Furthermore, VC0343 is fully compliant with the USB 2.0 High-Speed (HS) protocol and the USB Video Class (UVC) 1.0 standard. With powerful image processing capabilities and high-speed transmission performance, VC0343 can provide smooth and clear video, and bring a new and enhanced experience to laptop users.

Verizon Targets Online Schemes, Sluggish ComputersNew Internet Security Weapon Attacks Online Fraud While Tune-Up Tool Helps Improve PC Performance

NEW YORK, March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Users of Verizon Online's Verizon Internet Security Suite (VISS) can now be safer and more productive than ever before as the company adds a fraud protection and a PC Tune-Up tool to the popular online protection service. The new features are available at no additional charge to VISS subscribers.

March is Fraud Protection Month, and Internet service providers, consumer advocates and industry experts are reminding Internet users that identity thieves are stalking the Web. The addition of a fraud protection feature makes VISS one of the most comprehensive Internet defense plans on the market today.

The new fraud protection feature shields Internet users from a common online threat known as phishing. The feature proactively alerts users when they unknowingly attempt to access fraudulent Web sites that aim to steal important personal information. If the tool detects a phishing site, a warning is displayed and the page is blocked. Users can bypass this warning by entering their security password. To ensure the most complete and up-to-date list of phishing URLs, the service's list of fraudulent Web sites is compiled from multiple sources and updated 24 hours a day.

"Nobody wants to become an identity thief's catch of the day," said Michael Cai, an analyst with Parks Associates and an outspoken advocate of online fraud protection. "Yet in nearly a third of all cases, online users open phishing e-mails luring them to fraudulent sites seeking their banking or other personal information. To date, the lack of consumer education and ineffective protection tools have been to blame for the increase in online fraud threats.

"By offering users a comprehensive method of protecting themselves against phishing attacks, Verizon is addressing a common online fraud issue that has affected over 30 million Americans," Cai said.

Bill Heilig, vice president of Verizon Broadband Solutions, said, "Now reaching epidemic proportions, phishing attacks continue to increase in number year over year, costing Americans billions of dollars. Verizon offers a safer experience online by providing consumers with more ways to shield themselves from these attacks." New subscribers of VISS will get the new features immediately, while existing VISS subscribers will be upgraded by the end of April or can download the feature right away via http://www.verizon.net/VISSUpgrade. To learn more about the urgency of fraud protection, visit http://newscenter.verizon.com/kit/security-suite to read an article by Michael Cai.

PC Tune-Up Tool Optimizes Online Performance

To further enhance consumers' online experience and to improve personal computer performance, Verizon also has added a PC Tune-Up feature to its security suite. The PC Tune-Up can speed Web browser performance, as well as e-mail and virus scans. It quietly runs in the background and automatically performs tune-ups on a regularly scheduled basis.

The tool provides: -- Disk Defragmentation - Speeds access to files and programs. -- Drive Cleanup - Removes clutter and repairs drive problems that can slow PC performance.

In addition to the new fraud protection and PC Tune-Up features, Verizon's Internet Security Suite includes:

-- Anti-virus - Helps protect against known malicious viruses, worms and Trojans by detecting them, removing them and cleaning the affected files. The service runs in the background and blocks incoming virus attacks and related threats, including e-mail. Updates occur every three hours and are transparent to the end-user. -- Anti-spyware -- Offers powerful, up-to-date protection that automatically detects and eliminates a broad range of the spyware and tracking software that inappropriately tracks personal information and is widely responsible for degrading PC performance and online access. This service acts as a preventive step against the installation of hidden programs in a customer's system and can detect and remove more than 60,000 kinds of spyware. -- Firewall -- Acts as a shield to automatically block unauthorized intrusions, malicious hackers and other hostile attempts to access customers' computers. The Firewall is an easy-to-use, yet powerful defense for both dial-up and high-speed connections. -- Parental control -- Allows consumers to monitor and manage Internet usage by determining the types of content and specific sites that may be accessed. Parents can also define appropriate Internet usage and schedules, and block access to non-permitted Internet Web sites. -- Pop-up/ad blocker - Helps ensure a browsing session that is faster and less cluttered by blocking online ads such as pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, animations and tile ads. -- Privacy manager -- Scans all outgoing communications for sensitive or identifying information to help prevent its release without user consent. It also provides control over cookies and how much information Web sites record about browsing habits. And it has a cleanup utility feature that allows users to automatically remove traces of data left behind by Internet Explorer, MSN Explorer and Windows. -- Content management -- Enables small-business customers to increase employee productivity by controlling the time of day and day of week for Internet access as well as ensuring users do not receive or have access to sites not intended for them.

While some security products appear daunting to install and update, the Verizon Internet Security Suite offers a simplified download and then operates in the background to protect Internet users on several different fronts. Verizon Wireless Expands Wireless Broadband Network in Pennsylvania to Beaver CountyHigh-Speed Network Gives Verizon Wireless Customers Access to Fast Wireless Internet, E-mail, Mobile Music, Videos, and More

WARRENDALE, Pa., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless announced today that it has expanded the national rollout of its high-speed wireless network to portions of Beaver County including the towns of Darlington, Industry and Shippingport, and west along State Route 68 from Industry to the town of Midland.

"This is a vital area with dynamic, tech-savvy business people, students, visitors, and residents who want to stay connected," said Roger Tang, president -- Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia region, Verizon Wireless. "The launch of our broadband network here provides our customers with access to the very latest wireless technology."

With the wireless broadband network now available, Verizon Wireless customers in the area can enjoy two prime services:

-- BroadbandAccess, the enhanced high-speed wireless service that equips Verizon Wireless' business customers with a truly untethered mobile office experience, enabling them to wirelessly access their calendars, the Internet, e-mail, and critical business information residing behind their companies' firewalls; and -- V CAST, a consumer-oriented multimedia service that gives customers access to the most comprehensive selection of downloadable music, high-quality videos and the coolest 3D games found anywhere. BroadbandAccess

Based on Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) network technology, BroadbandAccess provides mobile workers with the ability to access their corporate information as if they were attached to this data via a high-speed wired connection but with the freedom of true mobility. Developed with a range of users in mind, the service enables large enterprises, small- to medium-sized businesses and mobile professionals to conduct business anytime, anywhere in the BroadbandAccess coverage area via a secure, true high-speed data connection.

With BroadbandAccess, business customers, residents and visitors to the area can expect average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. That means they can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint(R) presentation or a large PDF file -- in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds.

BroadbandAccess also enables Verizon Wireless customers to download files approximately 10 times faster than customers of wireless service providers that use different broadly deployed network technologies. Furthermore, customers who travel outside the enhanced BroadbandAccess coverage area with an EV-DO device will switch seamlessly to the company's NationalAccess service.

"Our enhanced BroadbandAccess service gives our customers three key advantages in wireless communication -- speed, mobility and security," Tang said. "With these advantages comes an increase in productivity and bottom-line business benefits."

    V CAST: Video and Music

The company's wireless broadband network also enables its V CAST multimedia services, which offer customers the ability to download full-song tracks, play cutting-edge 3D games and stream video clips straight to their handsets with top transmission speeds. With content updated daily, customers can watch dozens of on demand videos, including breaking news, weather updates, sports highlights, and the hottest entertainment clips.

With V CAST Music, Verizon Wireless has built a massive full-song mobile music store that contains more than 2.8 million songs -- from well-known as well as independent artists -- that customers can download over-the-air, directly onto their V CAST Music-enabled wireless phones.

    Investment

The multi-million dollar expansion includes the installation of high-tech wireless hardware and software in wireless transmission sites throughout the region. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $44 billion since it was formed -- nearly $5.5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. Nearly $1.4 billion of this investment was spent in Pennsylvania since 2001. In 2007, the company invested nearly $236 million in its Pennsylvania network improvements.

Verizon Wireless was the first national wireless provider to commercially launch a high-speed wireless broadband network in the United States. These communities in Pennsylvania are the latest to be added to the coverage.
