CGI Insurance Validation Service Identifies Uninsured, High-Risk VehiclesStock Market Symbols GIB.A (TSX) GIB (NYSE)

TORONTO, April 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CGI Group Inc. (TSX: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB), a leader in information technology and business process services and a leading provider of solutions to the insurance industry, today announced the launch of its Insurance Validation Service (IVS). This service helps both government agencies and policing organizations in Canada identify vehicles that do not have insurance.

Incidents involving uninsured drivers result in the consumer paying higher insurance premiums and registration fees. As well, the health care system bears the costs incurred by individuals involved in an accident where no insurance coverage exists.

"The general public needs to be better protected when it comes to individuals who drive with no insurance coverage," said Randy Carroll, Chief Executive Officer for the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO).

IBAO has been involved in this project since its beginning and approached CGI to lend its expertise.

"IBAO is pleased to see CGI take the lead in developing a service which will arm the police and government licensing agencies with the best available information. IVS will empower authorities to act decisively and make informed decisions-which is in the best interest of all Ontario drivers," said Carroll.

The solution was refined after a number of pilot projects in Ontario and Atlantic Canada in 2007. These field trials included an evaluation conducted by RCMP National Traffic Service.

"This initiative is a great example of what can be accomplished when all stakeholders focus on addressing the issue" said Wayne Beck, Vice-President, Consulting Services at CGI. "Now that we have shown that the solution helps address this serious concern, we look forward to working with all parties to make this service available coast-to-coast."

With more than 4,300 professionals dedicated to the global insurance industry, CGI has deep insurance experience in both the Property and Casualty and Life industries. CGI has more than $300 million invested in insurance business and technology solutions which are used by more than 300 carriers. CGI clients include 75 of the top 100 insurance carriers. myPhotopipe.com Expands Online Offering of Photo Greeting CardsCompany targets $7.5 billion greeting card space with more than 300 new products

ATLANTA, April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- myPhotopipe.com, Inc. (Pink Sheets: MPPC.PK), a web-based online provider of digital photo processing and related services, today unveiled a new initiative to significantly expand its product offerings and presence in the photo greeting card segment of the $7.5 billion greeting card market. The Company expects to more than double the number of products offered via its online web portal, http://www.myphotopipe.com/.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080325/CLTU023)

During 2006, according to data from industry association PMA, over 9 million households used digital cameras to make photo greeting cards, spending more than $550 million. As in years past, owners of high-end digital cameras (8 megapixels or more) were almost twice as likely to make photo greeting cards as owners of lower resolution cameras. What prompted myPhotopipe.com's newly announced initiative was the sharp increase in sales of high-end cameras.

According to PMA data, demand for 8 or greater megapixel cameras grew at a rate of 977% in the fourth quarter of 2007, versus the same period in 2006. This translates into approximately 25 million new high-end cameras entering the US market in 2007. According to the PMA, better cameras correlate to better images. This, in turn, encourages the purchase of more photo cards, which have also benefited from an increasing demand among consumers for self-expression and the personalization of social sentiments.

myPhotopipe.com offered consumers 629 photo greeting card styles at the end of 2007. The Company is adding 256 cards under its newly created Designer Collection category and 60 cards under a new General Purpose category, and it will also expand all of its existing categories with a new line of primary colors.

"This is the single most important initiative we have undertaken since the launch of FolioPrints," noted Eric Casolo, Director of Digital Photo Tools for the Company. "In large measure it came about because of the convergence in data and trends. First there was the jump in sales of high-resolution cameras. Second, the whole social expressions segment of the greeting card market has doubled during the past two years. And of course, owners of high-end cameras are almost twice as likely to make photo cards as the ordinary digital camera owner. When we saw the sharp increase in demand for cameras with resolutions of 8 megapixels and higher, we felt compelled to act, so we accelerated our timetables and will continue on an accelerated pace for the next two months."

According to the PMA, photo greeting cards grew from 270 million units in 2005 to 550 million in 2006. Year-end data for 2007 is not yet available.

S1 Enterprise and Resource One Announce Partnership to Streamline the Payment of Employee IncentivesCombined Capabilities Tie Cross-Selling Behaviors to Compensation

NORCROSS, Ga., April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- S1 Enterprise, a division of S1 Corporation and a leading provider of multichannel financial services software, today announced a partnership agreement with Resource One, Inc. (ROI), a provider of software that enables financial institutions to measure employee performance and manage variable compensation plans. Under the terms of the agreement, S1 Enterprise will incorporate ROI's capabilities into its S1 Sales & Service application.

In 1984, ROI released the first version of the Motivator(TM) System, a solution used by some of the largest financial institutions in the United States. Earlier this year, the company released its latest version, Motivator XP 1.2, which is compliant with Windows NT, 2000 and XP and delivers web-enabled reporting and input.

"This partnership will help banks come full circle in their endeavors to improve cross-selling," said Mickey Newbury, ROI's president. "It's a three-part equation, starting with S1 Enterprise's sales and service solution that collects and consolidates multichannel data. From there, S1 Enterprise enables users to record and appropriately respond to customer comments about changes to their financial picture. The Motivator System adds the final piece, allowing institutions to measure and communicate sales results and pay employees for their success."

S1 Sales & Service, based on J2EE technologies, consolidates customer data from multiple channels on a common platform, allowing bank staff to view their customer relationships in real time. The system's built-in analytical capabilities enable bank employees to unobtrusively record customer comments about lifestyle changes -- marriage, home improvement plans, retirement and the like. Further, it delivers appropriate cross-selling messages to the bank representative and tracks desired behaviors such as making referrals, holding customer dialogues and closing sales.

"Banks typically have employees in a wide variety of roles, and they motivate and reward them based upon different plans, which can be complicated to manage," said William A. Proctor, senior vice president and general manager of S1 Enterprise's branch and call center business. "The Motivator System can quickly and accurately track dozens of plans covering thousands of people. Most importantly, it motivates employees by tying compensation directly to performance. We believe this addition to our S1 Sales & Service solution will bring tremendous value to our clients who are continuously looking for ways to increase both efficiency and wallet share."

RFMD(R) Unveils Line of Integrated Configurable ComponentsRevolutionary New Product Category Delivers Superior Combination Of Flexibility And Functional Integration

GREENSBORO, N.C., April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RF Micro Devices, , a global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance radio frequency systems and solutions, today introduced the first in a new line of integrated configurable components delivering unmatched levels of flexibility and functional integration to designers of radio systems.

The first products in this new category include RFMD's RF2051, RF2052 and RF2053. The innovative RF205x line of integrated configurable components integrate common radio frequency (RF) functions while retaining the flexibility designers require to develop radio systems that operate over a wide dynamic range and across a broad range of frequencies and channel bandwidths. The RF205x line of integrated configurable components are broadly applicable to multiple radio markets, including wireless repeaters, software defined radios (SDR), professional mobile radios and instrumentation and test equipment.

Highlights of the RF205x line of integrated configurable components include:

RF2051 -- Combines a wideband monolithic voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), local oscillator (LO) drivers, a fractional-N phase locked loop (PLL) synthesizer and two RF mixers -- Can be configured as a monolithic upconverter and downconverter, making it ideal for uplink and downlink chains in applications such as wireless repeaters and as self-contained frequency band-shifters RF2052 -- Leverages the configurable core of the RF2051 (integrated VCO, PLL and LO drivers) -- Combines a wideband monolithic voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), LO drivers, a fractional-N PLL synthesizer and one RF mixer -- Can be configured as either an upconverter or downconverter for applications requiring separate up and down conversion stages RF2053 -- Leverages the configurable core of the RF2051 (PLL and LO drivers) -- Combines LO drivers, a fractional-N PLL synthesizer, one RF mixer and utilizes an external VCO source

Each product in the RF205x line is able to generate a broad LO signal range (300MHz to 2.4GHz) and operate over a broad RF/IF range (100MHz to 2.5GHz). The LO, which consists of the VCO and PLL, has an adjustable loop bandwidth that is set by a passive or active loop filter, allowing designers to optimize performance in wideband and narrowband applications. Finally, each product offers an operational amplifier on-chip to eliminate the need for an external amplifier in active loop configurations.

The mixer linearity is programmable up to +18dBm, at which the mixer, PLL and VCO consume just 72mA from a 3-volt supply. For applications with lower linearity requirements, current consumption can be reduced, allowing radio designers to trade off performance and current. This is particularly important in applications requiring lower current consumption, including portable battery-powered devices.

Alastair Upton, general manager of RFMD's Broadband and Consumer Business Unit, said, "RFMD is committed to providing valuable innovations that support our customers' success. The unique system partitioning and functional integration of the RF205x line of integrated configurable components helps radio designers across multiple industries improve competitiveness by shrinking circuit board area, reducing risk and shortening product development time, thereby lowering the cost of implementation."

The RF2051, RF2052 and RF2053 are housed in a compact 5x5mm QFN package and samples are available immediately. For more information please see http://www.rfmd.com/RF205x.

Caliper Life Sciences Forms Alliance With Horizon Discovery to Provide Enhanced Solutions for Cancer Research Based on Isogenic Cell Lines- CDAS Expands Offering to Include Screening for Targeted Cancer Drugs Using Genetically-Defined In-Vitro Human Disease Models -

HOPKINTON, Mass., April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Caliper Life Sciences, Inc. today announced a partnership with Horizon Discovery Ltd. (Cambridge, UK) that expands Caliper Discovery Alliances and Services' (CDAS) oncology cell line and screening capabilities for testing single drugs and combination therapies. Through this alliance, CDAS now offers unique, genetically-defined, and isogenic human cancer cell lines that allow researchers to better identify and characterize personalized drugs targeted at a specific subset of patients.

Isogenic cell-line pairs, where one cell line contains a genetic alteration or mutation of interest and the other contains the normal gene, represent cell-based models that accurately portray specific human diseases in the context of their matched normal genetic backgrounds. The inclusion of isogenic cell-line pairs in the discovery process enables scientists to better understand the mechanism of action of lead compounds, directly identify patient-relevant compounds from large compound libraries, re-profile existing drugs for new therapeutic indications, assess the efficacy of drug combinations, and identify potential side effects earlier in the discovery process.

"The alliance with Horizon Discovery adds significant value to existing CDAS offerings and illustrates Caliper's commitment to providing accurate in vitro and in vivo models for oncology research," said David Manyak, Executive Vice President of Drug Discovery Services, Caliper Life Sciences. "The addition of Horizon's isogenic cell lines to our existing oncology cell proliferation panel, and the ability to correlate results from these isogenic cell lines to efficacy in specific patient populations, further solidifies Caliper's in vitro-in vivo-human (IIH) bridge. Access to these tools will enable researchers to enhance the success rate and reduce the cost of discovering targeted monotherapy or combination therapies that better treat disease with fewer adverse events."

Rather than being a single disease, researchers now understand that there are numerous forms of cancer, many of which are associated with specific genetic alterations among cancer patient subpopulations. The discovery of targeted or personalized medicines that treat patients with a specific genetic makeup is a long and difficult process. Using more predictive cellular models that better reflect the complexity of biological systems will accelerate and rationalize many aspects of the discovery process -- including target selection, lead-compound generation and identification of the most responsive patients for clinical studies. The availability of such models also enables molecular diagnostic findings to be incorporated into existing drug discovery processes.

"Our extensive panel of isogenic human cancer cell-lines is a key, previously missing, tool in understanding the link between drug behavior and patients' genetic mutations. Our partnership with Caliper allows us to greatly expand the reach of our cell lines to assist researchers that are focused on uncovering cancer therapies," said Chris Torrance, CEO, Horizon Discovery. "Together we aim to significantly accelerate the search for new and more effective targeted or personalized drugs."

    About Horizon Discovery

Horizon Discovery is a translational genomics company founded in June 2007 and is headquartered at the Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge, UK and with additional research laboratories in Torino, Italy. Horizon's goal is to convert new information on the genetic causes of cancer into laboratory models that will facilitate the discovery of drugs that target these defects. Central to this aim is Horizon Discovery's offering of isogenic cell-lines, which represent accurate models of defined cancer patient populations and their matched normal genetic backgrounds -- a missing link in the rational and efficient development of novel targeted anti-cancer agents. MicroStrategy Rated Top Performer in Web Deployment, According to Independent Business Intelligence SurveySeventh Consecutive Year MicroStrategy Customers Report Highest Web Deployment

MCLEAN, Va., April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MicroStrategy(R) Incorporated , a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence software, today announced that The BI Survey 7, a leading independent survey of the business intelligence (BI) software market, has found that MicroStrategy customers lead in Web deployment. For the seventh consecutive year, MicroStrategy customers are more successful in deploying BI via the Web than are customers using any other leading BI product.

Conducted by independent analyst Nigel Pendse and BARC, The Business Application Research Center, The BI Survey 7 compiled the BI experiences of nearly 2,000 respondents. The Survey found that MicroStrategy had the highest Web Deployment Rate of 79.2%, meaning 79.2% of MicroStrategy's customers reported that they have deployed BI via the Web to at least 50% of their users.

BI Product Web Deployment Rates (%) MicroStrategy 79.2 Cognos Reporting 66.3 Cognos Analysis 56.0 BusinessObjects 52.9 SAP BW 35.4 Hyperion Essbase 32.8 Crystal Reports 30.9

According to The BI Survey 7, BI applications deployed via the Web deliver greater business value and benefits than those deployed via client/server technology. Information reach is improved, and setup and maintenance costs are significantly reduced.

"Since the inception of this Survey, MicroStrategy sites have had the highest rates for Web deployment," said Nigel Pendse, author of The BI Survey 7. "The MicroStrategy product line was designed from the ground up for large scale Web deployments, rather than being converted from older desktop or client/server architectures as other vendors have chosen to do. This provides an advantage for MicroStrategy's customers, who report on far more data, to more users, and who are much more likely to be Web connected than those using other products."

"We are pleased that The BI Survey, once again, found that MicroStrategy customers have greater success in deploying BI via the Web than customers of other BI providers," said Sanju Bansal, MicroStrategy's COO. "The Web continues to be a highly effective delivery mechanism for deploying BI to large user populations. MicroStrategy's full-featured Web interface provides an intuitive array of one-click actions to make business users highly productive in their viewing and exploration of data."

MicroStrategy will host a one-hour Webcast, "Selecting BI Technology for Enterprise Success -- Lessons Learned from over 1,800 Companies' Experiences," on April 24, 2008, featuring Nigel Pendse and findings from The BI Survey 7. Entrust's Versatile Authentication Platform Addresses Critical Enterprise Authentication Needs With Wide Range of ChoicesLatest Release of Entrust IdentityGuard Adds Key Administrator Authentication to the Mix

DALLAS, April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- For enterprise authentication, organizations want to leverage more choices for remote access to desktops and web based applications, extending the need for a layered approach to security. Adding to its already extensive range of authentication choices, Entrust, Inc. has added critical administrator authentication support for Windows and Unix to its versatile authentication platform, Entrust IdentityGuard.

"Top enterprises, financial institutions and global governments continue to see the value in deploying a versatile authentication platform that is easy to deploy, simple for the end-user and cost-effective," said Entrust Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Conner. "That recognition has been the catalyst for the amazing growth and respect for Entrust IdentityGuard as it continues to serve as an affordable, flexible solution for security- conscious organizations seeking strong authentication for consumer and enterprise users."

Built on standards like Web services and Radius, Entrust IdentityGuard easily fits into an organization to protect critical enterprise assets. This includes the ability to protect remote access applications (e.g., IP-Sec and SSL VPN, Citrix); Web applications, including Microsoft Outlook(R) Web Access; and Microsoft Windows desktops. New to the product, Entrust IdentityGuard also can now strongly authenticate administrators accessing Microsoft Windows servers, both locally and remotely. Entrust IdentityGuard will introduce support for protecting administrator access to Unix servers, giving deploying organizations the ability to protect users and servers across a heterogeneous environment.

Entrust IdentityGuard is recognized as a benchmark for strong multifactor authentication and helps address a range of security and regulatory legislation requirements. Leading financial institutions, enterprises and government agencies have deployed the platform, including Expedia, Commerce Bank, Bank of New Zealand, Banco Santander Santiago, Goteborg University, Ministry of Economic Development of New Zealand, SCHUFA, Arbetsformedligen, Alaska Law Enforcement Information Sharing System, Vejle Amt, Aristex, Swedish National Labor Market Administration, Skanska and more.

Entrust IdentityGuard enables organizations to layer security -- according to access requirements or the risk of a given transaction -- across diverse users and applications. The platform's authentication options include username and password, IP-geolocation, machine/device, questions and answers, out-of-band one-time passcode (delivered via voice, SMS or e-mail), grid cards and a range of one-time-password tokens -- priced as low as $5 each. Entrust IdentityGuard also provides multiple methods of supporting mutual authentication, including picture and caption replay

A testament to the strength of the platform, SC Magazine, a well-respected IT security publication, named Entrust an industry innovator in a December 2007 feature for the development and growth of the solution. The accolade stated: "The key factor that makes Entrust and the IdentityGuard visionary is the ideology that multifactor authentication does not have to be complicated to manage or expensive to implement. With inexpensive custom-made grid cards and tokens that cost only about $5 a piece, we expect to see IdentityGuard in more places very soon."

The platform's risk-based authentication capability enables organizations to assess a level of risk to a transaction based on the Internet protocol (IP) address, and then decide to further authenticate the user if required. Although typically thought of in consumer environments, Entrust IdentityGuard also can provide risk-based authentication using IP-geolocation authentication for remote access environments. This offers organizations a transparent method to more effectively identifying users, with the ability to step up the authentication strength with a range of multifactor capabilities versus traditional one-size-fits-all solutions.

Entrust IdentityGuard can be deployed with Entrust TransactionGuard, Entrust's Zero Touch Fraud Detection solution, to provide organizations with a highly effective and comprehensive solution for risk-based authentication.

Broadcom Demonstrates 10 Gbps iSCSI Block Storage at 2008 Storage Networking WorldDemonstration Extends Broadcom(R) iSCSI HBA Functionality to 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controllers, Delivering over 400,000 IOPS over a Single Ethernet Port

ORLANDO, Fla., April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- 2008 SNW -- Broadcom Corporation , a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, today announced a demonstration of iSCSI host bus adapter (HBA) functionality on its 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) controller at this week's Storage Networking World conference. Broadcom(R) iSCSI HBA functionality has been integrated into its market leading NetXtreme II(R) converged network interface controllers (C-NICs), and is now available for 10 Gigabits per second (Gbps) applications.

Broadcom iSCSI HBA functionality enables on-chip processing of the iSCSI protocol (as well as TCP and IP protocols), which frees up host CPU resources at 10 Gbps line rates and enables an impressive 400,000 IOPS (input/output operations per second) over a single Ethernet port(1) while running on Microsoft(R) Windows 2008. This functionality provides extended performance benefits that meet the demands of bandwidth intensive applications requiring high-performance block storage input/output (I/O). In addition, Broadcom's 1 GbE C-NIC can deliver an industry-leading performance of 230,000 IOPS utilizing two 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Regardless of network speed, Broadcom iSCSI HBA delivers performance benefits not obtainable from alternative solution approaches.

Enterprise networks are well positioned to take advantage of iSCSI functionality since they are built on top of the highly familiar TCP/IP protocols and because of the ubiquity and effectiveness of Ethernet. iSCSI enables storage flexibility as it allows storage content to be accessed from an Ethernet fabric. The increase from 1 Gbps Ethernet to 10 Gbps Ethernet delivers increased storage performance levels not previously achievable and provides sufficient bandwidth to truly become a converging fabric that permits multiple types of high bandwidth protocol traffic to co-exist on the same network. As a result, a server can converge networking and storage onto the same network while lowering the total cost of ownership (TCO), or use a dedicated network for data and for storage, thereby using the same equipment for multiple purposes.

Broadcom's BCM57710 NetXtreme II 10GbE C-NIC will be demonstrated at Storage Networking World 2008 with full iSCSI HBA functionality. Announced in May 2007, the BCM57710 became the industry's first true single-chip, dual-port 10GbE C-NIC specifically designed for high volume servers. Successfully delivering a single-chip C-NIC supporting 10 Gbps rates, with no external memory or an additional dedicated HBA adapter required, the BCM57710 lowers the TCO for iSCSI-based storage networks and provides higher bandwidth and higher performance.

"iSCSI HBA functionality is a key component of our NetXtreme II C-NIC technology because it enables iSCSI storage access in a cost effective manner," said Vinod Lakhani, Senior Director and General Manager of Broadcom's High-Speed Controller line of business. "On-chip iSCSI processing frees up the CPU and allows a new level performance in today's servers, enabling value for both 1GbE and 10GbE networks. Broadcom's ability to provide iSCSI processing in a single-chip, low-power 10 Gbps solution will help accelerate the adoption of 10GbE in enterprise networks."

"HP ProLiant server customers have come to expect unmatched reliability and performance across our portfolio," said John Gromala, Director, ProLiant Product Marketing, HP. "By lowering CPU utilization through iSCSI offload, we are looking forward to reaching new levels of performance across our ProLiant line while helping make storage deployment much more cost effective."

    NetXtreme II C-NIC Information

Broadcom's NetXtreme II GbE controller chips were the first controllers in the industry to enable storage networking, high performance clustering, accelerated data networking and remote system management pass-through functions in a single, all-in-one solution at price points enabling the broad adoption of this technology. By deploying these functions over standard Ethernet networks, IT professionals can significantly reduce the costs associated with deploying and maintaining today's complex fabric infrastructure.

In today's enterprise network, a standard server is typically equipped with two Gigabit Ethernet controllers, and in some cases, with other storage adapters. To simultaneously run network, storage and clustering traffic at high rates requires multiple adapters and high amounts of CPU cycles. While running over a standard Ethernet network, Broadcom's NetXtreme II C-NIC technology frees the server's resources to perform their primary tasks, namely running application code, while simultaneously increasing performance. The NetXtreme II family of C-NICs enables IT professionals to simplify their systems by providing network, storage and clustering capabilities over existing and familiar TCP/IP and Ethernet infrastructures while boosting server performance.

Nearly One-in-Four Workers Admit to Making Up Fake Excuses for Arriving Late to Work, CareerBuilder.com Survey FindsHiring Managers Share Top Ten Most Outrageous Excuses

CHICAGO, April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- If the minutes on the clock seem to fly by in the morning as you frantically run around collecting your keys, getting your kids out the door and grabbing your bills to make it to work on time, you're not alone. According to a recent CareerBuilder.com survey, 15 percent of workers say they arrive late to work at least once a week, while nearly one-in-four of all workers (24 percent) admit to making up fake excuses to explain their tardiness. The CareerBuilder.com survey, "Late to Work," was conducted from February 11 through March 13, 2008 among 2,757 employers and 6,987 workers.

"Although flexible schedules are more common in the workplace these days, it is still important for employees to be mindful of their arrival times," said Rosemary Haefner, vice president of Human Resources for CareerBuilder.com. "Consistently showing up late can affect how others in the company view your work ethic and discipline, as well as affect your productivity."

While 43 percent of hiring managers say they don't mind if their employees are late as long as their work is completed on time with good quality, others are much stricter, and would consider terminating an employee if he or she arrives late several times a year.

When asked to identify the primary cause for coming in late, more than 32 percent of workers claimed traffic was the culprit. Falling back asleep was the reason cited by 17 percent, while 7 percent pointed to a long commute as the main cause. Other popular reasons included getting kids ready for school and daycare, forgetting something at home and feeling sick.

While the majority of hiring managers believe their employees' reasons for being late to work, more than 27 percent say they are skeptical of the excuses.

Hiring managers provided the following top ten examples of the most unusual excuses employees offered for arriving late to work:

    1. While rowing across the river to work, I got lost in the fog. 2. Someone stole all my daffodils. 3. I had to go audition for American Idol. 4. My ex-husband stole my car so I couldn't drive to work. 5. My route to work was shut down by a Presidential motorcade. 6. I wasn't thinking and accidentally went to my old job. 7. I was indicted for securities fraud this morning. 8. The line was too long at Starbucks. 9. I was trying to get my gun back from the police. 10. I didn't have money for gas because all of the pawn shops were closed. Survey Methodology

This survey was conducted online within the U.S. by Harris Interactive on behalf of CareerBuilder.com among 2,757 hiring managers and human resource professionals (employed full-time; not self-employed; with at least significant involvement in hiring decisions); and 6,987 U.S. employees (employed full-time; not self-employed) ages 18 and over between February 11, and March 13, 2008, respectively (percentages for some questions are based on a subset U.S. employers, based on their responses to certain questions). With a pure probability sample of 2,757 and 6,987, one could say with a 95 percent probability that the overall results have a sampling error of +/- 1.9 percentage points and +/- 1.2 percentage points, respectively. Sampling error for data from sub-samples is higher and varies. A full methodology is available upon request.

Latest Advance in Artificial Intelligence: Computer Wins a Game Against a Go Master

PARIS, April 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- During the Go Tournament in Paris, staged between 22 and 24 March 2008 by the French Go Federation (FFG), the MoGo artificial intelligence (IA) engine developed by INRIA - the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control - running on a Bull NovaScale supercomputer, won a 9x9 game of Go against professional 5th DAN Catalin Taranu. This was the first ever officially sanctioned 'non blitz' victory of a 'machine' over a Go Master.

More Complex Than Chess, More Possible Combinations Than the Number of Particles in the Universe

In 1997, a computer beat the then World Chess Champion, Garry Kasparov, for the first time. But the game of Go remained the exclusive preserve of Man. More complex than chess, with 10 to the power of 600 different possibilities - more than the number of particles in the known Universe - the game of Go is a remarkable school for strategy. So this latest officially-endorsed performance by INRIA and Bull represents a real achievement.

The victory was won as part of the 'IA-GO Challenge', in a so-called 9x9 game (played over nine lines and nine columns). Although Catalin Taranu beat the computer in a 19x19 configuration with a nine-stone handicap, the Go Master nevertheless rated the IA system as 'approaching Dan standard' in a performance that promises some formidable battles to come between man and machine.

"The software used in this victory - the result of a collaboration between INRIA, the CNRS(1), LRI(2) and CMAP(3) - is based on innovative technologies that can be used in numerous different areas, particularly in the conservation of resources which is such a vital issue when it comes to tackling environmental problems," explained Olivier Teytaud, Researcher at INRIA, MoGo team leader. "We are particularly delighted that, during the tournament, we were able to welcome researchers working in these areas who are interested in this technology, and we would like to thank the FFG and the tournament organizers for having given us the opportunity to learn more about these advances stemming from fundamental research."

"Over and above the intellectual and emotional challenge that is involved in designing a computer capable of facing up to the Grand Masters of Go, our collaboration with the MoGo team has helped us to make further advances in parallelization techniques. The users of our supercomputers will reap the benefits of this work in their own environments," affirmed Eric Monchalin, Director of High-Performance Computing R&D at Bull.

INRIA has an annual budget of 162 million euros, excluding VAT, 20% of which comes from its own research contracts and licences. Siemens Wins Process Automation Order to Modernize Bayer CropScience Facility

ATLANTA, April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a project valued at more than $1 million to modernize the automation system at the Bayer CropScience site in Institute, West Virginia, with Siemens SIMATIC(R) PCS 7 distributed control system (DCS).

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070904/SIEMENSLOGO)

Bayer CropScience is one of the world's leading innovative crop science companies in the areas of crop protection, non-agriculture pest control, seeds, and plant biotechnology. The migration to the PCS 7 DCS will enable Bayer CropScience to meet challenging scheduling requirements while modernizing two manufacturing processes at the Institute site.

"The timing of this project is critical to avoid disrupting production," said Vinay Devgon, head of engineering at the Bayer CropScience Institute site. "The ability to use a single integrated platform for DCS, batch, safety, and process simulation technology is the main reason we were able to meet our tight deadline. In addition, now we can do a rigorous S88 implementation and documentation of the batch process."

Kevin McDevitt, Siemens Project Management Office manager, says in addition to competitive pricing, Siemens was awarded the project based on the overall long-term value presented to Bayer CropScience.

"Siemens can deliver attractive lifecycle costs minimizing total cost of ownership because process automation modernization is a core competence of our team in the U.S.," says McDevitt, who is overseeing the project execution. "We provide this value by data mining the intellectual property of the installed system so that we can preserve the existing process know-how and extend it within PCS 7 by using the system's powerful engineering tools."

Devgon says another way Siemens adds value to the conversion project is by partnering with local systems integrator and full service engineering company Augusta Engineering. He says Siemens technology and global support combined with Augusta Engineering's local support was a significant reason for winning the project.

Scott Cloherty, Augusta Engineering's information and control systems manager, agrees a strong selling point was local, ongoing support. "With all of us working together, Bayer CropScience is getting an integrated and comprehensive automation system that is locally supported. We are available when they need us."

Charles S. Amorosino, Jr., TESOL's Executive Director, said "Franklin has a high reputation for being a leader in language learning technology. TESOL is pleased to be working with Franklin in this global spelling competition to advance English language education globally."

"For over twenty years since we invented the Spelling Ace(R) handheld, Franklin's products have helped a generation of youngsters with the thorny problem of spelling English words. With non-native English speaking learners exceeding native speakers, this project is a natural extension of what we do at Franklin, and awarding varying college scholarships to the finalists is our way of 'giving back'. With the youth of the world learning English outside of the United States and the Commonwealth countries, at an earlier and earlier age, this competition will bring excitement and fun to the learning process. We are fortunate to have forged a strong working relationship with TESOL, the preeminent global association for English language teaching," said Barry J. Lipsky, President and CEO.
