American Airlines Expands AA.com Diversity and Inclusion Information - Establishes LGBT, Women's Customer Advisory GroupsAirline Industry's Most Comprehensive Online Diversity and Inclusion ResourceCouncils Will Help Foster American's Diverse Segment Market Initiatives
FORT WORTH, Texas, April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines has expanded the diversity and inclusion information on its AA.com Web site, further enhancing the airline industry's most comprehensive online resource for such information.
American's commitment to diversity and inclusion can be explored within the site's "About Us" section, just one click from the home page. There, American provides specifics about its Diversity Leadership Strategy, Supplier Diversity program, Careers, and Awards and Recognition received for its inclusive culture and focus on diversity.
The Employees link leads to an overview of American's 15 Employee Resource Groups, which reflect a variety of communities within American's diverse employee population. Offering cultural guidance, as well as ideas to support the company's business initiatives, two representatives from each of these groups serve on American's Diversity Advisory Council.
"American's dedication to diversity leadership helps us to foster an environment where individuals' experience and perspectives are valued and to ensure that customers and communities receive service delivered by committed, passionate people," said Roger Frizzell, American's Vice President for Corporate Communications and Advertising. "This dedication also supports our ongoing program to identify minority-, women-, LGBT-owned, and small businesses to be considered as potential business partners for American."
In addition, building on its long history of marketing to key customer constituencies, American has established two advisory councils: one focused on women travelers, the other on Lesbian/Gay/Bi-Sexual/Transgender (LGBT) travelers. American was the first airline to develop specialty sales and marketing teams for these two important customer groups and for African-Americans and Hispanics, and has been the industry leader in establishing dedicated advertising budgets for African-American and Hispanic audiences. American also leads the airline industry by offering tailored travel information portals for women customers, http://www.aa.com/women, and for LGBT travelers, http://www.aa.com/rainbow.
Advisory Council members provide ongoing and ad hoc market feedback on American's position within their respective communities. They also offer input on market trends, community concerns and program concepts that promote growth within these customer groups.
"American as a company is recognized for its commitment to diversity, as we have long demonstrated through a wide variety of community, cultural and employee initiatives," said Frizzell. "These new advisory councils are a natural extension of that commitment. Council members are community leaders who will help American grow and sustain relationships within the LGBT and Women markets. The councils' ongoing feedback on specialized customer initiatives and marketing programs will be invaluable in guiding our planning and future outreach.
"These advisory councils, along with the enhanced information available online at AA.com, will definitely help to strengthen and grow our ties to these important audiences. This type of fully integrated approach is key in fostering our historically strong connection to our changing customer and employee base while pursuing a diverse segment marketing strategy that directly speaks to our business goals."
American Airlines was recently recognized as a Noteworthy Company for Diversity in DiversityInc magazine's annual rankings, adding to a growing list of accolades for American's industry-leading diversity initiatives. American is the only airline among the 75 top employers listed this year.

Current Technology's Celevoke Expands GPS Tracking System's Marketing Reach
VANCOUVER, British Columbia and NEW YORK, April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Current Technology Corporation (OTC BB: CRTCF) and MSGI Security Solutions Inc. (OTCBB: MSGI) today announced Texas-based Celevoke, Inc ("Celevoke") is participating in a series of Regional Heavy Equipment Theft Summits sponsored by, amongst others, FBI/LEEDA (Federal Bureau of Investigation/Law Enforcement Executive Development Association) and the NER (National Equipment Register). Celevoke recently presented its proprietary GPS Tracking System to Regional Summit participants in Arlington (Dallas/Fort Worth), Texas and will be featured at upcoming events in Los Angeles, CA (April 24) and Hartford, CT (May 21).
"This is an outstanding opportunity for Celevoke to present its proprietary Telematics Solutions to heavy equipment owners and operators, insurance companies and law enforcement officials," stated Celevoke Vice-president Brian Allen. "We believe Celevoke technology is superior to any in the industry. In the Arlington Summit, for example, we were able to demonstrate our features and benefits against more well known (at least for now) competitors such as LoJack."
The mission of the National Equipment Register is to increase the recovery rate of stolen equipment and reduce the costs associated with theft for owners and insurers. Members include insurance companies such as AIG, Chubb, Firemans and Travelers, and rental companies such as Hertz and United Rentals. LEEDA's membership includes more than 2200 law enforcement officials in the United States and 10 foreign countries.
"In addition to the recently announced significant channels of distribution we have successfully opened, we plan to avail ourselves of other meaningful opportunities to introduce our Telematics Solutions to equipment owners and operators in the United States and other countries around the world," concluded Brian Allen. "Further, we believe we will be in a position to report on our progress in Brazil within the next few days."
About Celevoke
Celevoke is poised to become a market leader in the projected $38.3 billion (by 2011) global market for Telematics (according to ABI Research), which is the integrated use of telecommunications and informatics. More specifically, it is the science of sending, receiving and storing information wirelessly via telecommunication devices. Celevoke has integrated Telematics and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) with sensing technology. This proprietary suite of hardware and software products enables users to remotely monitor, track, control and protect a wide variety of asset classes. Examples include people, automobiles and trucks, shipping containers and covert vehicles used for law enforcement and intelligence gathering in a global marketplace. In 2005, Celevoke acquired the assets of San Francisco based Televoke, Inc.; a telematics pioneer backed by Softbank Venture Capital, Cardinal Venture Capital, W.I. Harper Group and others, representing more than $15 million in funding. These assets provided the foundation for Celevoke's development of patented technology utilized today by Celevoke's many clients. Celevoke is a 51% owned subsidiary of Current Technology Corporation (OTCBB: CRTCF).

ID Media Collaborates With 4INFO to Offer Unique Mobile SMS OpportunitiesPartnership Generates a New Direct Response Value Model
NEW YORK, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- ID Media, the largest direct and digital media services company in the U.S., has recently formed a partnership with 4INFO, a leader in SMS publishing and advertising services and the largest SMS ad network in the United States. The relationship was developed to allow ID Media clients to exclusively test the viability of a new direct response, cost-per-response-based buying model for mobile SMS messages that will potentially target some of the 5 million active 4INFO users.
"We are very pleased to have ID Media test this exciting new mobile buying platform. We feel this program will truly benefit ID's clients and deliver positive results," says Zaw Thet, CEO, 4INFO.
4INFO offers real-time information related to stocks, sports and entertainment via traditional print, TV and Web ads. Users request this information by sending a text message (i.e. "Text any stock ticker symbol to 4INFO [44636]"). Then, an ad, typically 40 characters in length, is placed under the requested SMS content. The ad has several response options: click to call, click to WAP, click to email and SMS.
4INFO offers select inventory, sold on a CPM basis, with content derived from a range of key publishers, including NBC, TV Guide, MTV, USA Today, Evite, MySpace.com, NBA, E!, 1-800-Free411 and SayNow. By establishing this partnership, ID Media will be able to offer its clients the ability to evaluate the performance of different content, as well as geo-target for more accurate results. For this test, ID Media clients will only pay when a consumer responds rather than upon impression delivery. In addition to limiting financial risk in a new medium, they will be able to establish interactions rates and mobile call-to-sale conversion ratios.
"Strong mobile phone penetration combined with enthusiastic consumer adoption of text messaging has 4INFO well positioned in the new media marketplace. I love the fact that 4INFO offers great benefits to a user in the form of compelling content, which they opt-in or elect to receive. The Pearson Foundation and Nokia Announce the Mobile Learning Institute Earth Day ChallengeNew Digital Arts Initiative Includes First-Ever Global, Environmental Filmmaking Competition for Youth
ORLANDO, Fla., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pearson Foundation and Nokia today announced a global, environmental filmmaking competition that gives young people the chance to share their views on the earth's future and the importance of combating climate change. The Mobile Learning Institute Earth Day Challenge was announced at the opening of Jane Goodall's Global Youth Summit on Earth Day 2008 in Orlando, Florida.
During the Global Youth Summit, taking place April 19-25, Pearson and Nokia will provide the tools and empower young people to create and promote environmental videos as a kickoff to the filmmaking competition which begins on June 1, 2008 and ends on Earth Day 2009. The Mobile Learning Institute will host a series of workshops demonstrating the place of digital media in advocacy and public awareness. Working with Mobile Learning Institute staff and professional filmmakers, youth from around the world brainstorm, storyboard, film and edit environmental video pieces within teams. Beyond the Global Youth Summit, the Pearson Foundation and Nokia will extend their Mobile Learning Institute partnership to encourage youth to compete in the environmental filmmaking competition. This summer, the two organizations will host more than 20 local Mobile Learning Institute digital arts workshops in communities across the United States. In each community, young people nominated by their teachers will have the chance to create brief personal films that share their ideas while exploring firsthand the ways in which laptop computers, video production equipment, and mobile technologies are changing the ways we communicate. Their finished films will be entered automatically in the competition and will also serve as the cornerstone for a new environmental digital arts curriculum being developed by the Pearson Foundation for use by teachers this fall. For more information, visit http://www.earthdaychallenge.org/.
"The young leaders attending the Jane Goodall Institute's Global Youth Summit today share a passion for preserving the environment and developing a plan of action," said Mark Nieker, president of the Pearson Foundation. Live HD Performances From Metropolitan Opera New York Come to Cinemas in France via Eutelsat Satellites
PARIS, April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CielEcran, specialised in broadcasting cultural and sports events to large screens in France, is using capacity on two satellites operated by Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) for live, high-definition performance transmissions direct from New York's Metropolitan Opera to cinema complexes.
Following the success on April 5 of a live satellite broadcast of Puccini's La Boheme from the Metropolitan Opera to 17 cinemas across France, CielEcran is continuing on 26 April with a live HD transmission of "La Fille du Regiment" by Donizetti, with Natalie Dessay and Juan Diego Florez.
This new manifestation is the latest in a series of exceptional events transmitted to cinemas by CielEcran. Using Eutelsat satellite capacity for very high bitrate connections, CielEcran can enable the public to experience world-class international events with exceptional video and audio quality.
The performance of 26 April, including interviews with artists, directors and stage managers, will be filmed by 15 HD cameras with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Capacity on Eutelsat's ATLANTIC BIRD(TM) 1 satellite will transmit the signal direct from New York to the UK where subtitles will be added for the French audience. The DVB-S/MPEG-2 signal will subsequently be uplinked to Eutelsat's ATLANTIC BIRD(TM) 3 satellite whose high-power coverage across France enables direct reception by cinema complexes. Cinemas receiving the broadcast include two theatres in the Gaumont Marignan in Paris and 16 complexes in main cities and towns across France. CielEcran is collaborating on the opera transmission with the music radio station France Musique, part of the public service Radio France group.
"CielEcran is trailbreaking a new activity in France to deliver alternative HD content to large screens in cinemas and auditoriums," commented CielEcran Managing Director Marc Welinski. "These transmissions are only possible because of advances in digital technology, the availability of high-power satellites to transmit the HD signal and the increasing deployment in theatres of new HD projection systems."
Olivier Millies-Lacroix, Eutelsat Commercial Director commented "The enthusiastic response to the HD performance of La Boheme on April 6 confirms that there is a real market for alternative Out-of-Home HD transmissions on large screens. In this new digital media activity satellites have the key benefits of assembling quality, reliability and maximum flexibility."
Following the success of offering the experience of live world-class opera performances, CielEcran will be using Eutelsat satellite capacity to show six matches of the UEFA Euro 2008(TM) in June to 50 cinemas equipped for high-definition reception.

North Canton, Connecticut Residents to Benefit from Verizon Wireless Network ExpansionInvesting to Stay Ahead of Growing Demand for Wireless Voice, Multimedia and Internet Access
NORTH CANTON, Conn., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents in Hartford County, Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site. The new site increases wireless voice and data coverage and capacity along Cherry Brook Road, North Canton Road, Case Street, and the surrounding area.
Verizon Wireless has invested nearly $44 billion since it was formed to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services like BroadbandAccess and V CAST. Regionally the company has invested nearly $2.2 billion into its New England network, including over $292 million in 2007 alone.
BroadbandAccess offers computer users the nation's most reliable high-speed wireless mobile broadband network, operating at average upload speeds between 500 and 800 kbps, and download speeds between 600 kbps and 1.4 mbps over Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess with EV-DO Revision A network. Nationally, these test men and women drive nearly 100 specially equipped vehicles almost 1,000,000 miles annually on Interstate, U.S. and state highways as well as major roads and surface streets in high-population areas, based upon U.S. Census counts, to confirm that voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

Microsoft Opens the Floodgates for Streaming Applications
IRVINE, California and LONDON, April 22 /PRNewswire/ --
- Endeavors and Partners to Offer Microsoft Office on a Rental Basis
Endeavors Technologies, the pioneer in application streaming and
virtualization technology, and its parent company, Tadpole Technology plc,
today announced support for the Microsoft program amending the Service
Provider License Agreement (SPLA). The new program allows service providers
to stream Microsoft Office for delivery through a Software-as-a-Service
(SaaS) model.
"We've anticipated this change and are pleased that Microsoft now has a
date for allowing service providers to stream Microsoft Office," said Peter
Bondar, CEO at Endeavors. "We have completed proof of concept programs with a
number of providers and have been waiting for the amended SPLA program to
roll out new services. Through our partnerships with Partner Advantage and
others, we are poised to take advantage of the new business opportunities on
day one. We applaud Microsoft in taking this bold step."
Partner Advantage and other service providers will use Application
Jukebox as the platform to stream and virtualize Microsoft Office so it can
be offered through a SaaS model. Application Jukebox enables service
providers to introduce flexible licensing models for Microsoft Office and
other Windows applications, improve the efficiency of software rollouts,
ensure that subscribers stay up-to-date with the latest versions and
guarantee license agreement compliance.
"The potential for using software that is metered, rather than purchased
outright is huge," said Mat Clothier, managing director of Partner Advantage
Ltd. "In the future most applications will be paid for as they are used,
often as part of a monthly contract, in a similar manner to mobile phone
services. We have been preparing for this market for some time and have the
complete solution available today, based upon Application Jukebox, Endeavors'
leading-edge application virtualization and streaming product."
About Application Jukebox
The Application Jukebox family of products contain three key components.
Application Jukebox Player sits on the client to create the virtual
application environment and provides user authentication and application
license enforcement. Application Jukebox Server controls and delivers
applications, provides usage monitoring and logging, plus group, user and
application level administration. Application Jukebox Studio allows ISVs and
IT administrators to create a streamable, virtualized "appset" from standard,
Windows-based applications that is then published to the server.
Two versions of Application Jukebox are currently available. Application
Jukebox SaaS Edition features usage metering and a kiosk mode to support a
pay-as-you-go model for application rental, plus portals that provide an
easy-to-use environment for service providers and ISVs to create a custom
application landing site. Application Jukebox Enterprise Edition supports
Active Directory and offers user and group monitoring, as well as extensive
tracking and support for cost-effective license management.
About Endeavors Technologies
Endeavors Technologies creates, develops and markets innovative
application virtualization and streaming technologies that allow servers to
stream pc-based applications to client computers where they are subsequently
executed. These "next stage" technologies replace thin client computing
paradigms. Application virtualization and streaming enables organizations to
reduce the total cost of ownership while improving service levels,
simplifying the management of computers and improving security and
reliability. This innovative application distribution methodology provides
companies with new revenue opportunities while reducing IT costs and
increasing user productivity. Endeavors Technologies is a pioneer and thought
leader with eight patents granted and 25 pending, including the first patents
granted for streaming applications. Endeavors Technologies provides its

Majesco Entertainment Ships 'Wild Earth: African Safari' for Wii(TM)
EDISON, N.J., April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today on Earth Day, Majesco Entertainment Company , an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, announced it has shipped Wild Earth: African Safari for Wii(TM) to retail outlets nationwide. Wild Earth promotes environmental awareness by teaching players about more than 30 different species of exotic animals within their natural African habitat.
In Wild Earth: African Safari, players assume the role of a photo-journalist on assignment in Africa's Serengeti National Park. Throughout the game's 11 missions, adventurous photographers seeking out award-winning pictures can cruise the Park by land or air to investigate the bold hyena in a midday thunderstorm or observe the gentle giraffe grazing in the valley. While seeking the perfect picture of cheetahs, rhinos, lions, zebras and many more species, players must refrain from getting too close to the animals or disrupting the natural landscape; if they do, the Impact Meter will rumble the Wii Remote(TM) and make it harder to snap a steady picture.
Two new features exclusive to the Wii version include a cooperative multiplayer mode that allows up to four friends to either drive or shoot photographs, and a Safari Arcade Game mode where gamers can play from the animals' perspective in 11 games using intuitive gestures with the Wii Remote. In addition, an inspiring soundtrack from world music label, Talking Drum Records, lends an atmospheric backdrop to the game.
Developed by Super X Studios, Wild Earth African Safari is rated E for Everyone, and is now available for a suggested retail price of $29.99. To find out more and watch the gameplay trailer, please visit http://www.majescoentertainment.com/.

Siemens PLM Software Delivers the Next Big Breakthrough in Digital Product Development with Synchronous TechnologyPLM Industry's First History-Free, Feature-Based Modeling Technology Enables Up to 100 Times Faster Design ExperienceSiemens Accelerates CAD Technology Breakthrough, Integrates Synchronous Technology into Product Announcements
PLANO, Texas and HANNOVER, Germany, April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced the next big breakthrough in digital product development with synchronous technology, the PLM industry's first-ever history-free, feature-based modeling technology, that provides users with up to 100 times faster design experience than ever before.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070904/SIEMENSLOGO )
Launched via a global webcast in conjunction with Hannover Fair, Siemens PLM Software's new patent-pending technology combines the best of constraint-driven techniques with direct modeling, and is being integrated into the company's next versions of NXTM and Solid Edge(R) software.
"Siemens recognized the huge potential of synchronous technology during the due diligence process of acquiring UGS," said Anton Huber, CEO, Siemens Industry Automation Division. "Knowing that the digital model is at the heart of our shared vision to unify the product and production lifecycles, we have worked together to accelerate this breakthrough in CAD technology. The digital model impacts every phase of the PLM process and is key to delivering innovation faster than ever before. This technology will fundamentally change the way manufacturers design products and enable them to accelerate their innovation process, ultimately driving increases in top line revenue."
"This new synchronous technology is indeed a breakthrough," said Jack Beeckman, PLM manager, Liebert Corp. "It marks a new era in modeling that allows an engineer the freedom to be an engineer. With an instantaneous modeling experience, this is going to change the way people think about using CAD. More importantly it's going to change the way CAD enables them to think about 'what' they want to model, and not 'how' they want to model."
First-Ever History-Free, Feature-Based Modeling
The technology is the first-ever design solution that simultaneously synchronizes geometry and rules through a new decision-making inference engine. It accelerates innovation in four key areas:
-- Fast idea capture: Synchronous technology captures ideas as fast as the
user thinks them, with up to 100 times faster design experience.
Designers can devote more time to innovation with new techniques that
provide the efficiency of parametric dimension-modeling without the
computational overhead of pre-planned dependencies. The
technology defines optionally persistent dimensions, parameters and
design rules at time of creation or edit, without the overhead of an
ordered history.
-- Fast design changes: The technology automates the implementation of
planned or unplanned design changes to seconds versus hours thorough
unparalleled ease of editing, regardless of design origination, with or
without the presence of a history tree.
-- Improved multi-CAD reuse: The technology allows users to reuse data
from other CAD systems without remodeling. Users can succeed in a
multi-CAD environment with a fast, flexible system that enables them to
edit other CAD system data faster than they can in the original system,
regardless of the design methodology. A technique called
"suggestive selection" automatically infers the function of various
design elements without the need for feature or constraint definitions.
This increases design reuse and OEM/supplier efficiency.
-- New user experience: The technology provides a new user interaction
experience that simplifies CAD and makes 3D as easy to use as 2D. The
interaction paradigm merges historically independent 2D and 3D
environments, providing the robustness of a mature 3D modeler with the
ease of 2D. New inference technology automatically infers common
constraints and executes typical commands based on cursor position.
This makes design tools simple to learn and use for occasional users,
driving downstream use to manufacturing engineering and the shop floor.
"While there have been important advances in 3D design technology over the years, designers have not been able to create persistent features without the computational overhead needed to re-compute models from the construction history," said Chuck Grindstaff, executive vice president of Products, Siemens PLM Software. "Traditional parametric modeling serially applies rules to geometry, helping to automate planned change but not addressing unanticipated engineering changes. History-less modeling concentrates on geometry in an unconstrained manner, but sacrifices intelligence and intent. Direct editing minimizes the need to understand a complex history but does not address features.
"Our new synchronous technology incorporates the best of constrained and unconstrained techniques to deal with change in an extremely powerful and efficient manner. Applying the right technique to the job at hand, enables dimension-driven modeling to reach its full potential, generating tremendous productivity gains over traditional methods."
"Synchronous technology breaks through the architectural barrier inherent in a history-based modeling system," said Dr. Ken Versprille, PLM Research Director, CPDA. "Its ability to recognize current geometry conditions and localize dependencies in real time, allows synchronous technology to solve for model changes without the typical replay of the full construction history from the point of edit. Depending on model complexity and how far back in the history that edit occurs, users will see dramatic performance gains. A 100 times speed improvement could be a conservative estimate."
Availability
The patent-pending technology was jointly developed between Siemens PLM Software's NX and Solid Edge organizations. Siemens PLM Software's synchronous technology will be implemented in the next versions of both Solid Edge and NX as a proprietary application layer built on its D-Cubed(TM) and Parasolid(R) software. The next versions are scheduled for launch on May 21 at the annual Siemens PLM Software Analyst and Media Conference in Boston.

Microsoft Releases Latest Microsoft Security Intelligence ReportCompany finds use of malicious software increasingly motivated by financial gain.
LONDON, April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Microsoft Corp. today released the fourth volume of its Microsoft Security Intelligence Report (SIR) at Infosecurity Europe 2008. The report focuses on the second half of 2007 and uses data derived from a range of tools running on approximately 450 million computers worldwide to provide an in-depth, global view of software vulnerabilities, software exploits, malicious software and potentially unwanted software.
(LOGO: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000822/MSFTLOGO)
The latest SIR shows the fewest number of security vulnerability disclosures across the software industry since the second half of 2005, along with a rise in malicious and potentially unwanted software, which demonstrates a continued use of malware as a tool for targeting computer users for profit.
More specifically, the second half of 2007 showed a decline in new security vulnerability disclosures by 15 percent and a decrease in total vulnerability disclosures by 5 percent for all of 2007. Vulnerabilities are weaknesses in software that allow an attacker to compromise the integrity, availability or confidentiality of that software. The data also reveals a 300 percent increase in the number of trojan downloaders and droppers -- malicious code used to install files on users' systems -- illustrating that the malware category continues to grow in popularity among attackers.
The report also shows a 66.7 percent increase in the number of potentially unwanted software detections -- programs that may impact user privacy or security by performing actions the person may not want -- between July 1 and Dec. 31, with a total of 129.5 million pieces of potentially unwanted software found on users' systems.
"The SIR provides us with a chance to share with our customers and industry partners what we're seeing in the threat landscape so we can all help ensure users are better protected and work toward a more trusted Internet," said Vinny Gullotto, general manager of the Microsoft Malware Protection Center. "This latest volume supports our position that today's threats continue to be motivated by monetary gain, and it also gives us a solid view of vulnerability and exploit trends."
The purpose of the SIR is to keep customers informed of the major trends in the threat landscape and provide valuable insights and security guidance designed to help customers make better, more informed decisions with regard to products, technologies and resources. The latest report builds on previously gathered data, but also includes new sections focused on issues of security breach notifications, spam and phishing, Internet safety enforcement, and the storm worm -- a highly visible, continually updating and adapting trojan dropper.
Based on these and other key findings from the report, Microsoft recommends all interested parties use the data, insights and guidance contained in the report to better assess and improve their own security practices. Active steps Microsoft recommends include the following:
-- Check for and apply software updates on an ongoing basis, including
updates provided for third-party applications.
-- Enable a firewall.
-- Install and maintain up-to-date anti-virus and anti-spyware programs
that provide increased protection from malicious and potentially
unwanted software.

The nature of the contract and the Japanese corporation were not revealed because of a confidentiality agreement.
VIASPACE has a license from Caltech to commercialize the SHINE real-time inference engine software technology with the exclusive rights for most major applications including defense applications, homeland defense, maritime security and diagnostics/prognostics. Carl Kukkonen, CEO of VIASPACE, commented: "We are pleased to begin this new effort in pursuit of several solutions for this major customer. Our customer's identity needs to be protected at this point in order to provide them with the competitive advantage they are seeking by partnering with VIASPACE. We believe that our sensor data fusion and SHINE inference engine technologies will play a key role in their new generation of 'smart' products."
Kukkonen continued, "VIASPACE believes that SHINE has broad reaching capabilities in areas such as diagnostics and prognostics, medical systems, manufacturing and plant management, finance and even video games."
About VIASPACE: Originally founded in 1998 with the objective of transforming proven space and defense technologies from NASA and the Department of Defense into hardware and software solutions that solve today's complex problems, VIASPACE benefits from important patent and software licenses from Caltech, which manages NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Open Text Launches Transactional Content Processing SolutionNew TCP Solution Manages High-Volume Business Transactions, Integrates with SAP Solutions and Puts Content in the Context of Business ProcessesTransforms Business Operations, Increases Agility, Improves Customer Service
CHICAGO, April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Open Text(TM) Corporation , a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), today announced the launch of a new, fully integrated solution for Transactional Content Processing (TCP) that helps enterprises optimize workflow in high-volume, mission-critical business processes, such as invoicing, order or claims processing and customer request handling, to dramatically increase productivity, reduce costs and transform business operations.
Through familiar intuitive user interfaces, this advanced Open Text TCP solution delivers comprehensive functionality for managing transactional content, such as paper documents, email or electronic forms, within the context of business processes. Available now, the solution allows companies to significantly accelerate and optimize high-volume, content-centric processes. This leads to cost savings, greater company agility, and greater compliance with external regulations and internal retention policies.
"Business processes that get initiated by incoming content and externally via e-mail or online forms are becoming increasingly important in industries with large numbers of customers, partners or suppliers," said Michael Cybala, Director of Program and Product Management, TCP Solutions at Open Text. "By offering a fully integrated solution that capitalizes on our content management expertise, we are making it significantly easier than ever before for enterprises to streamline and optimize even their most massive and complex transaction processes."
There are numerous and varied applications for transactional processing solutions that are well suited for Open Text TCP. Since these applications often replace repetitive, time-consuming paper-based and manual processes, enterprises are moving forward with deployments even during uncertain economic times. One example of a non-traditional application is a truck manufacturer that uses TCP to capture information about vehicle test records, driver's cab records, and axle assembly parts lists using mass import functionality.
Rapid Implementation and Swift ROI
Open Text TCP is completely integrated with Open Text Content Services, including Enterprise Library Services and Enterprise Process Services. The new solution enhances and extends Open Text's Business Process Management (BPM) and Production Document Management (PDMS) products. Since this functionality is now available as part of an integrated overall solution, customers can expect shorter implementation times and faster return on investment.
In any transactional system, there are five distinct phases that need to be addressed and automated. Open Text TCP encompasses all five as follows:
- Capture - Open Text TCP provides a full set of inbound channels and
mechanisms to capture information including imaging, content pipelines
and Web services. It can handle all incoming electronic information
such as e-forms, faxes and print streams.
- Process - The solution provides a highly scalable business process
component that can manage complex processes simultaneously according
to business rules. It also provides business activity monitoring and
analytics.
- Access - Open Text TCP provides the flexibility to display
transactional content and process information to end users in
comprehensive case-centric views with data pulled from multiple
sources. Content can also be assembled into self-service portals.
- Integrate - Information for a particular business process often
resides in multiple systems, spanning ERP systems (from SAP, Oracle or
other vendors), email systems, document management systems and custom
applications.
- Preserve - Transactional content is generated in huge volumes, much of
which represents documents of record. TCP uses Open Text's Enterprise
Library Services as a foundation that enables organizations to manage
retention schedules and compliance rules for business content.
From the Digital Mailroom to Customer Self Service
An increasingly large number of value-added and compliance-relevant business processes are initiated through incoming information such as online forms for credit applications, faxes, and letters with notification of claims cases or e-mails with customer complaints. Open Text TCP offers a digital mailroom that allows incoming customer complaints, for example, to be automatically compared to customer data from SAP or Oracle systems and then forwarded for processing to appropriate employees or teams. All information on processing status is also available to other departments such as a call center in the form of a virtual customer file, so that responses can be competently and authoritatively answered.
Combined with Livelink ECM - Shared Document Access, the digital mailroom can be expanded into a self-service portal for customers, partners, and suppliers. Once credentials have been issued, these external users can view relevant information independently and, for example, compare orders with deliveries or track the processing of a claims case. For internal service employees, the corresponding information is available in comprehensive customer, supplier or partner files. This raises the service quality for companies while simultaneously lowering overall operating costs.
LiveLinkUp Europe 2008
Open Text TCP is being launched in time for the European conference LiveLinkUp Europe 2008. For more information on the event being held on April 22 in Dusseldorf and April 24 in London, please visit: http://livelinkup.opentext.com/europe/2008/
