Siemens PLM Software Adds Support for the European Reach Regulation to its Teamcenter SuiteTeamcenter Enables Product Manufacturers to Ensure REACH Compliance and Reduce Costs through Streamlined Requirements Management

PLANO, Texas, May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced it has added support for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation, the new European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use, to the integrated compliance management capability of its Teamcenter(R) software portfolio. Teamcenter enables organizations to streamline the tracking of chemical substances required for REACH compliance by making these requirements an integral part of the product development process.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070904/SIEMENSLOGO )

"We are committed to partnering with our customers to stay one step ahead of evolving regulations like REACH," said Steve Bashada, vice president of Teamcenter Applications, Siemens PLM Software. "With Teamcenter's new REACH regulation support, companies can easily collect, compile, aggregate and analyze information describing the chemical constituents of its organization's products, thus ensuring compliance and avoiding REACH-related supply chain disruptions."

    Holistic approach to compliance management

The REACH regulation was introduced in June 2007. It is considered the strictest law to date regulating chemical substances and will impact product manufacturers in aerospace, automotive, high-tech and electronics, apparel, and other industries throughout the world. The REACH regulation requires all chemicals that are imported into the European Union in quantities greater than one metric ton per year to be tested for health and safety and registered with the European Chemicals Agency located in Helsinki, Finland. For product manufacturers, this means that some parts and materials they buy may become more costly or restricted based on how they are used in their products. The REACH regulation also restricts the use of so-called substances of very high concern (SVHC) in products. The SVHC list is expected to ultimately include 1,500 to 3,000 substances. The REACH regulation requires companies to be prepared to disclose information about the SVHC in their products within 45 days of the request.

Integrating REACH regulation support into a company's complete lifecycle process is consistent with Teamcenter's holistic approach to compliance management. With Teamcenter, REACH regulation requirements can be gathered and tracked up front in the product development process. As the product evolves, Teamcenter tracks substance information from the bill-of-materials (BOM) and generates reports of the quantities of each substance contained in the BOM. Organizations are then able to actively track all substance information as part of the product development process and maintain full traceability of the impact of any changes to the root source as they move forward.

By helping ensure REACH regulation compliance, Teamcenter eliminates the supply chain disruptions, delays and costs associated with compliance management. In addition to its new REACH regulation support, Teamcenter facilitates compliance with a wide range of environmental regulations governing businesses throughout the world including ELV, RoHS and WEEE directives.

REACH support is part of the Teamcenter environmental compliance solution which was developed through a partnership with Synapsis Technology, Inc. The solution is powered by EMARS(R) software, Synapsis' industry proven system for environmental compliance management. Synapsis provides supply chain and high- tech electronics industry-specific knowledge and software add-ons that complement the capabilities of Teamcenter.

American Greetings Offers Simple Reminders on How to Stay Protected This Mother's Day

CLEVELAND, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- American Greetings Corporation , in response to potential email scams that typically occur during major holidays, is providing the public with some helpful tips to ensure the safe receipt of their Mother's Day online greetings.

Celebrating Mom through online greetings is a popular trend. In fact, Mother's Day ranks among the top five holidays in terms of e-cards sent from the American Greetings family of Web sites. To be sure that you avoid any potentially harmful e-mails, Dan Miller, vice president of Product Management at AG Interactive, a division of American Greetings Corporation, offers the following suggestions:

-- Be cautious: If you have any suspicion that the e-card you have received is fraudulent, do not open the e-mail, and do not click on any links within the body of the message if you do. Legitimate e-mails will always give you the option to pick up the e-card by typing in the address of the Web site, rather than clicking on the link. -- Make sure you recognize the sender's name: The name of the sender should always be visible in the subject line of the e-mail, or within the e-mail itself. If you do not recognize the sender's name or the sender's name is not visible, proceed with caution. -- Be sure to look for the Web site: The Web site should be identifiable in one or more of the following areas: the "from" field, the subject line or the body of the e-mail itself. If no site is listed, or you do not recognize the site, proceed with caution. -- Do not follow any links with a simple IP address: Sometimes the IP address is hidden beneath the link and can only be seen by positioning your cursor over the link or right clicking on the link to view properties. The link should start with the domain of the Web site (i.e. http://www.americangreetings.com/ ) and not a series of numbers commonly referred to as an IP address.

Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile Program Moves Forward to Serve Warfighters

ORLANDO, Fla., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a series of successful reliability characterization tests, Lockheed Martin received U.S. Government approval to continue development and production of the Joint Air-To-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM). During the recent tests, the stealthy standoff cruise missile demonstrated its capabilities across a wide variety of targets -- including hardened, underground bunkers and air defense systems.

"Thanks to the leadership of Secretary Young and Secretary Payton and their commitment to candid communication with the industry team, we have successfully demonstrated JASSM's reliability and validated the need for the world's first stealthy, standoff cruise missile," said Chris Kubasik, executive vice president for Lockheed Martin Electronic Systems. "As a result of this effective government-industry collaboration, U.S. and allied Warfighters will have access to a weapon that will allow them to neutralize an enemy's defenses and defense infrastructure in an anti-access environment."

Recertification allows JASSM Lot 7 production to proceed at the company's award winning manufacturing facility in Troy, AL. The Air Force-Lockheed Martin team will produce a weapon that remains extremely cost-effective for the nation's taxpayers, particularly when its unique capabilities are taken into account.

"The system's performance in this latest test series was outstanding," said Randy Bigum, vice president of Strike Weapons at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. "We're eager to move forward with this program and to meet our commitments to both the U.S. Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force."

JASSM is an autonomous, long-range, conventional, air-to-ground, precision standoff missile designed to destroy high-value, well-defended, fixed and relocatable targets. It is integrated on the B-1, B-2, B-52 and F-16 aircraft. Future platforms include the F-15E, F-35 and RAAF F/A-18. A 2,000-pound class weapon with a penetrator/blast fragmentation warhead, JASSM cruises autonomously in adverse weather, day or night, using a state-of-the-art infrared seeker in addition to the anti-jam GPS to find a specific aimpoint on the target. Its stealthy airframe makes it extremely difficult to defeat.

The recertification approval also paves the way for continued development of the longer range JASSM-ER system. The extended range variant has over twice the range of the baseline missile. As a result, aircrews and their aircraft are kept well outside the lethal range of an enemy's air defense systems. While still being compatible with the B-1, B-2, B-52, F-15, and F-16, JASSM-ER will maintain the same outer mold line, reliability, survivability and lethality of the baseline JASSM missile.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin employs about 140,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The Corporation reported 2007 sales of $41.9 billion.

Six Identity and Security Management Solutions Optimized for Use with SAP Solutions

Novell identity and security management solutions for use with SAP solutions deliver extensive business benefits for customers. Today, more than 700 enterprises worldwide are using Novell identity and security management solutions with their SAP applications. With Novell, SAP customers can achieve dramatic reductions in the overall cost of provisioning and can demonstrate to auditors a complete, provable chain of policy-based and compliant decisions about who should get access to what.

Novell offers six solutions integrated to fit seamlessly into the SAP enterprise solution-based environment:

-- Novell Identity and Security Management for Small and Medium Enterprises: Prepackaged add-on identity and security solution to quickly enable security and user management for small and medium- sized enterprises. This solution leverages Novell best practices, thus greatly reducing IT overhead by lowering the cost and time spent on deploying and implementing identity and security management software. -- Novell Enterprise Security Monitoring for SAP Solution-based Environment: Novell is the only vendor to offer identity-enabled security and information event monitoring for SAP solutions. Novell Sentinel(TM) provides monitoring, event correlation, policy validation, auditing and reporting and analyzes identity and access activities across enterprise systems to automate data gathering. Novell Sentinel helps ensure the infrastructure is operating in accordance to SAP business policy, the enterprise is enforcing its compliance objectives, and both IT and application managers are immediately alerted to potential security risks. -- Novell Identity Management for SAP Solution-based Environment: Novell Identity Manager provides identity provisioning, integration and synchronization between disparate systems. Created, deleted or modified user accounts in SAP Human Capital Management are automatically propagated across all SAP applications and other enterprise applications, reducing the amount of time and money administrators spend performing the same task several times. Identity Manager also enables revoking of user access rights across every SAP application with a single action so access to corporate resources can be modified or deleted appropriately when responsibilities change or an employee leaves the organization. -- Novell Access Management and Identity Federation for SAP Solution- based Environment: Novell Access Manager(TM) enables consistent, enterprise-wide access policy enforcement, including robust Web access management, Web single sign-on and identity federation across SAP applications. -- Novell Enterprise Single Sign-on for SAP Solution-based Environment: Providing comprehensive single sign-on for SAP applications and streamlined access to corporate resources while improving security compliance, Novell SecureLogin reduces the number of passwords users are required to remember, enforces the use of stronger passwords and enables users to reset lost or forgotten passwords. -- Novell Physical and Logical Security Convergence for SAP Solution- based Environment: This solution ensures government and corporate compliance mandates are met and increases security by enforcing building, location and system access based on SAP business policy. Building access control is integrated into the SAP enterprise solution-based environment to manage access to buildings as part of overall user management.

"Our industry-leading identity and security management solutions make it easier to automate, validate and enforce IT controls in real-time," said Jim Ebzery, senior vice president of Identity and Security Management at Novell. "By integrating our identity and security management solutions with the SAP solution-based environment, we are uniquely positioned to help enterprises fully leverage the governance, risk and compliance capabilities of SAP solutions. With Novell, SAP customers can improve operational efficiencies by managing vital provisioning, access control and monitoring functions, as well as link business policies directly to user provisioning software."

AT&T Stands Ready, Helps Prepare Customers for Forecasted 'Active' Hurricane Season

ATLANTA, May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- With a "more active than average" Atlantic hurricane season predicted for 2008, AT&T Inc. has announced that the company is prepared to respond quickly if a storm strikes. To help customers prepare, too, the company is providing important communications tips for use before, during and after a storm.

"The Southeast has been tested by hurricane seasons in the past, and we have demonstrated our ability to respond time after time," said Harry Lightsey, president -- Southeast region of AT&T. "We realize the important role that communications play in an emergency situation, and that's why we have invested billions of dollars to toughen our networks and our disaster recovery capabilities. Furthermore, AT&T employees have always demonstrated a commitment to serve their neighbors and their community, even when their own homes were damaged," said Lightsey.

"AT&T has built the most technologically advanced wireless network in the country," said Steve Sitton, president of AT&T's wireless operations in the Southeast. "The wireless services we offer can help keep our customers connected during emergencies in a variety of ways including voice communications, video applications and text messaging. We have continued to improve the reliability of our wireless services in hurricane-prone areas by installing more backup generators at critical sites, moving facilities to less vulnerable areas and improving our recovery efforts. We are committed to keeping our customers connected, and we have taken steps to ensure our wireless networks are ready," said Sitton.

Millions of residential and business customers depend on AT&T for critical voice, data and video communications as well as entertainment services. AT&T is committed to delivering the highest levels of service quality and reliability for customers under all circumstances.

A critical element of AT&T's efforts to maximize network reliability is the company's ability to swiftly respond when disaster strikes. AT&T monitors and maintains its networks 24/7 and conducts readiness drills throughout the year to ensure that the networks and personnel are ready to respond in a moment's notice.

Network preparations include: -- Adding capacity to the wireless network to accommodate increased call volume. -- Testing the high-capacity backup batteries located at every cell site. -- Maintaining a robust backup power plan, which includes deploying extended battery life and portable generators, and maintaining existing fixed generators. -- Topping off generators with fuel at cell sites and central and field-level switching facilities. -- Using natural gas in some of the permanent generators to eliminate the need to refuel. -- Staging generators in safe locations for their immediate deployment once a storm has passed. -- Elevating switches critical to network operations above expected flood levels. -- Protecting physical facilities against flooding. -- Preparing the following for deployment in the wake of a storm: -- Mobile cell sites -- Mobile command centers -- Emergency communications vehicles -- A self-sufficient base camp, complete with sleeping tents, bathrooms, kitchen, laundry facilities, on-site nurse and more than 10,000 meals ready to eat (MREs), plus more -- Hazmat equipment and supplies -- Equipment-trailers to provide infrastructure support and mobile heating ventilation and air conditioning -- Internal and external resources for initial assessment and recovery efforts

AT&T offers the following recommendations for consumers and small business owners in preparation for this year's hurricane season.

Consumer Tips: -- Have a family communications plan in place. Designate someone out of the area as a central contact, and make certain that all family members know whom to contact if they become separated. Most important, practice your emergency plan in advance. -- Be sure you have a "Hurricane Phone." It's a good idea to have a wireless phone on hand and at least one corded (landline) telephone that is not dependent on electricity in case of a power outage. Cordless telephones usually have receivers that are electrically charged, so they won't work if you lose your power. -- Program all of your emergency contact numbers and e-mail addresses into your mobile phone. Numbers should include the police department, fire station and hospital, as well as your family members. -- Keep your wireless phone batteries charged at all times. Have an alternative plan to recharge your battery in case of a power outage, such as charging your wireless device by using your car charger or having extra mobile phone batteries or disposable mobile phone batteries on hand. -- Keep your wireless phone dry. The biggest threat to your device during a hurricane is water, so keep your equipment safe from the elements by storing it in a baggie or some other type of protective covering. -- Forward your home number to your wireless number in the event of an evacuation. Because call forwarding is based out of the telephone central office, you will get incoming calls from your landline phone even if your local telephone service is disrupted at your home. In the unlikely event that the central office is not operational, services such as voice mail, call forwarding, remote access call forwarding and call forwarding busy line/don't answer may be useful. -- Track the storm and access weather information on your wireless device. Many homes lose power during severe weather. If you have a wireless device that provides access to the Internet, you can watch weather reports through MobiTV(R) or AT&T Mobile TV or keep updated with local radar and severe weather alerts through My-Cast(R) Weather, if you subscribe to those services. -- If you have a camera phone, take, store and send photos -- even video clips -- of damaged property to your insurance company from your device. -- Take advantage of location-based mapping technology such as AT&T Navigator, available on some wireless devices, to seek evacuation routes or to avoid traffic congestion from downed trees or power lines. Small Business Tips: -- Set up a call-forwarding service to a predetermined backup location. Set up a single or multiple hotline number(s) for employees, employees' families, customers and partners, as appropriate, to call so that all parties know about the business situation and emergency plan. For this to be most effective, maintain an updated contact list, including mobile and home phone numbers and e-mail addresses, for all employees. -- Protect hardware/software/data records/employee records, etc. Routinely back up these files to an off-site location. Use a generator for supplying backup power to vital computer hardware and other mission-critical equipment. Prearrange the replacement of damaged hardware with vendors to ensure quick business recovery. -- Outline detailed plans for evacuation and shelter-in-place plans. Practice these plans (employee training, etc.). Establish a backup location for your business and meeting place for all employees. -- Assemble a crisis-management team and coordinate efforts with neighboring businesses and building management. Be aware that disasters affecting your suppliers also affect your business. Outline a plan for supply chain continuity for business essentials. Maximizing Service During and After a Hurricane: -- During an emergency, more people are trying to use their phones at the same time. The increased calling volume may create network congestion, leading to "fast busy" signals on your wireless phone or a slow dial tone on your landline phone. If this happens, hang up, wait several seconds and then try the call again. This allows your original call data to clear the network before you try again. -- Try wireless text/short messaging service (SMS). During an emergency situation, text messages will often go through quicker than voice calls because they require less network resources. All of AT&T's wireless devices are text messaging capable. Also, if you have a wireless data device such as an Apple iPhone or a BlackBerry(R) smartphone, you can use its messaging capabilities to communicate. Depending on the call plan, additional charges may apply. -- Keep non-emergency calls to a minimum, and limit your calls to the most important ones. If there is severe weather, chances are many people will be attempting to place calls to loved ones, friends and business associates.

ACS Expands National Dental Initiative to LouisianaBaton Rouge children to benefit from free dental screening on May 6, 2008

DALLAS, May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS) is expanding its national Dental Outreach Initiative to Louisiana to aid the state's school children. The program is now available in seven states and the District of Columbia.

ACS will launch the initiative by sponsoring a free dental education and screening for children on Tuesday, May 6, at Forest Heights Elementary School, 7447 Sumrall Drive, Baton Rouge, starting at 1:00 p.m. Since the ACS Dental Outreach Initiative was launched in Georgia in 2004, more than 26,000 children have received dental education.

The program, conducted in partnership with The Dental Clinic of Dr. Crear and Associates, provides free dental education and screenings to underserved children. ACS is launching the initiative in Louisiana with a goal of educating and screening approximately 2,000 children. Along with Baton Rouge, ACS plans to sponsor multiple screenings in other Louisiana schools in the upcoming 2008-2009 school year.

"As corporate residents of Louisiana, we are concerned about the health and well-being of our neediest children," said Christopher T. Deelsnyder, ACS senior vice president and managing director, Government Healthcare Solutions. "Together with our partners, we hope to teach these children that practicing good dental hygiene will have a profound impact on their health for years to come."

ACS' more than 200 employees in Louisiana provide state government services such as managing the Medicaid CommunityCARE Primary Care case management program, processing child support payments, and operating the Louisiana Customer Service Center for family support programs. Additionally, ACS operates the 311 non-emergency services system and Emergency Medical Services billing services for the city of New Orleans.

The ACS Dental Initiative provides free dental screenings and education seminars on dental hygiene by licensed professionals. To reinforce what they learn during the seminars, students receive a gift bag containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, t-shirts, and dental education material. In addition, children receive a screening evaluation and a recommendation report to share with their parents or guardian.

For many children, the ACS Dental Initiative screening will be their first dental check-up. In fact, the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) state that children from low-income families are less likely to see a dentist regularly, and suffer twice as many dental cavities as their peers. In addition, pain and suffering due to untreated disease lead to problems in eating, speaking and paying attention in school. The ADA and the AAP also note that 51 million school hours are lost each year as a result of dental-related problems.

"The ACS Dental Outreach Initiative is our way of reaching into communities throughout the state to help Louisiana children have not only healthy smiles, but healthy futures as well," said Deelsnyder.

Along with Louisiana, the initiative benefits children in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, and the District of Columbia.

ACS, a global FORTUNE 500 company with 63,000 people supporting client operations reaching more than 100 countries, provides business process outsourcing and information technology solutions to world-class commercial and government clients. "We have experienced a lot of momentum over the last 18 months, and we are excited that our clients share our enthusiasm, which we feel is represented by the record number of attendees at our conference this year."

    Eagle Version 9.0 (V9.0)

Eagle's latest version of its software, V9.0, which will be available later this month, is one of the most anticipated highlights of the event. Many of the sessions are focused on educating users about the latest version, and guests can view the new functionality in action in the Product and Partner Pavilion where kiosks and booths are set up to offer demonstrations. While the focus of V9.0 has remained on improving usability and workflow, the version also offers new functionality across all Eagle solutions.

    Data Management Highlights

In V9.0, Eagle's data management solution has been enhanced with improved usability across the workflows providing easier maneuverability. It also offers a redesigned rules editor for more intuitive interaction. New features include the ability to handle multi-leg swaps for derivatives, a pricing option for direct access to pricing information and the ability to modify the system so users can readily access audit information.

    Investment Accounting Highlights

V9.0 offers significant functionality around the processing and settlement of derivatives. AVIATION WEEK's Ares Blog Spurs Questions in Dutch ParliamentInterest in AviationWeek.com defense channel shows rapid 339% growth in past year

NEW YORK, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- A post on AVIATION WEEK's Ares defense technology blog about Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program cost changes is causing debate in the Dutch parliament. Labor party Member of Parliament and defense spokesperson Angelien Eijsink has quoted Bill Sweetman, editor-in-chief of Defense Technology International (DTI), to fuel questions around the Netherlands' plans to purchase JSFs.

Following Lockheed Martin's April 8 announcement that estimated JSF acquisition costs had dropped by $981 million, Sweetman assessed that the fighter program had "dodged the incoming Nunn-McCurdy missile that everyone had predicted ..., (but) savings are mostly in the medium-to-far future while the increases are here and now." To confirm calculations reported by Sweetman and better understand the impact these changes will have on Dutch participants, Eijsink submitted a series of questions to the Dutch ministers of defense, economic affairs and finance and the state secretary of defense, requesting nationally relevant and specific estimates for the JSF program's immediate cost increases and potential long-term savings. For more information, read Sweetman's May 1 post on Ares at http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/blogs/defense/index.jsp?plckController=Blog&plc kScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&plckPostId =Blog%3a27ec4a53-dcc8-42d0-bd3a-01329aef79a7Post%3a413ac5fe-26c6-49ae-8934- 1bcebafbe12d. While this is the second time in less than two months that the Dutch parliament has shown interest in AVIATION WEEK's blogs, they are not the only ones tuning in. AVIATION WEEK's defense channels have shown a 339% increase in average monthly page views in 2007 vs. the prior year, with the greatest traffic increase and views on its defense technology blog, Ares (http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/blogs/defense), but also driven by the DTI Ezine and defense video gallery.

Postilion Solutions Selected by Loves Travel Stops & Country Stores to Centralize Fleet Card Authorization and Store Transaction CapturePostilion delivers integrated processing and payment switching for card transactions at the pump and purchases in convenience stores

NORCROSS, Ga., May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Postilion, a leading global provider of integrated solutions for payment processing and self-service banking and a division of S1 Corporation , today announced that Loves Travel Stops & Country Stores will deploy Postilion solutions to enable the company to centralize fleet card authorization and transaction capture.

Loves chose Postilion solutions because they are able to streamline its authorization and transaction capture process by integrating payment for fuel at the pump with traditional retailing, despite the complexity of the travel industry and the range of fleet cards used to purchase fuel. This is done via a central open-systems payment switch running Postilion, rather than at the store level.

"Given our current goals for growing our stores by 15 locations a year and the increasingly tighter margins on fuel purchases, it was imperative that we find new ways to streamline our transaction processing," said James Xenos, Vice President and CIO, Loves. "The Postilion Forecourt and POS Payments solution and the Postilion Payment Switching solution enable us to further control the payment transaction authorization and settlement process, which in turn reduces our costs and improves our customers' overall experience at the pump and in the store."

Pierre Naude, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Postilion Americas, said, "We are delighted that Loves has joined the Postilion family of customers and will be taking advantage of our solutions to integrate payments at the fuel pump with the convenience store. This reduces transaction processing time and the in-store hardware footprint."

Postilion solutions are known worldwide, for their flexibility, security, regulatory compliance, and high application availability.

McAfee, Inc. and Microsoft Showcase Joint Network Access Control Solution for Defense CustomersIntegrated Solution Provides Enhanced Endpoint Security for Defense Networks; on Display at DISA Customer Partnership Conference

ORLANDO, Fla., May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DISA CONFERENCE -- McAfee, Inc. , is demonstrating its new Network Access Control solution, integrated with Microsoft Windows NAP (Network Access Protection) technology, an endpoint policy enforcement platform for Windows Server 2008. The offering, which helps protect private networks from being accessed by unauthorized systems and devices, is being showcased by McAfee (Booth #532) and Microsoft (Booth #881) at the DISA Customer Partnership Conference in Orlando, FL.

"Our first priority is to secure government data, at all levels, on all operating systems," said Mike Carpenter, senior vice president of McAfee's Public Sector. "We're proud to provide this deep integration of our threat protection with the latest Microsoft platforms to deliver the best possible protection for our Defense customers."

The offering will provide extended endpoint health check tests for the native Microsoft platform, covering hundreds of software applications and Windows patch levels. This approach leverages current large DoD investments in McAfee and Microsoft solutions deployed under programs such as the Host Based Security System (HBSS).

"Security is a core pillar of Microsoft's focus on Trustworthy Computing and it is fundamental to the Microsoft platform and our value to customers," said Greg Bateman, Manager of Microsoft's Joint Defense Agencies Team. "Through this partnership with McAfee, we can significantly increase DoD's IT security in an era of increasing threats and network attacks."

In addition to expanded health checking for systems and devices attempting to access controlled DoD networks, the Microsoft and McAfee offering consolidates network-wide endpoint enforcement onto a centrally managed console using McAfee(R) ePolicy Orchestrator(R). By adding more than 600 health checks, proactively authenticating and remediating out-of-policy devices and giving customers the ability to create customizable assessments against mandated security policies, McAfee adds significantly to the complete protection of mission-critical Defense systems, including classified networks. Several major agencies within the Department of Defense are currently piloting the new offering.

New AT&T-Branded DECT 6.0 Cordless Phones Featuring Improved Talk Range Now Available in Stores2008 AT&T Product Lineup Offers State-of-the-Art Antenna Technology and Maximum Call Clarity for Superior Performance

BEAVERTON, Ore., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced American Telephones, which manufactures AT&T-branded telephones under a license agreement with AT&T Intellectual Property, today announced availability of its 2008 cordless phone lineup, featuring new Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) 6.0 phone systems with state-of-the-art antenna technology for maximum range and interference-free clarity.

    (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080505/AQM050)

"With this proprietary antenna technology added to our DECT lineup, consumers will enjoy an additional 45 percent of open field talk range and a 15 percent better in-home calling range for cordless phones today -- an overall improvement over other DECT phones on the market," said Matt Ramage, vice president, product management, at Advanced American Telephones. "This innovative offering continues the tradition of highly reliable, best-in-class performance that consumers have come to expect from AT&T cordless phones."

Taking DECT Technology to a New Level

With state-of-the art antenna technology, the new AT&T DECT 6.0 cordless phone family gives consumers the ultimate freedom to roam throughout their home. Independent Wyle lab studies found that the new AT&T phones provided up to a 190-feet range around or outside the home, compared to the 160-feet range offered by competing DECT phones. These new phone systems, including the SL82118, SL82218, SL82318, SL82418 and SL82518, come bundled with up to five handsets and range from $59.95-$129.95 -- making them perfect for every budget and household.

For further flexibility, the AT&T DECT systems are expandable with up to 12 handsets and feature a sleek design with a simultaneous off-hook feature, enabling more than one system handset to be active on a call.

    Solutions for the Desktop

In addition to DECT 6.0 models, the 2008 AT&T product lineup features three new systems ideal for the home, small office or home study. The new TL74108 and TL76108 are 5.8 GHz corded/cordless phone systems, featuring Digital Spread Spectrum frequency-hopping technology that provides long range, top sound quality and high security. The TL74108 and TL76108 are loaded with value-added features, highlighted by the convenience and security of a corded base along with the flexibility of a cordless handset.

For example, the TL74108 features dial-in-base speakerphone, call transferring and is expandable up to four handsets. The TL6108, expandable up to eight handsets, features 7-party conferencing, two-line operation and two individual voice mailboxes. Both of these phone systems only require a single phone jack that allows consumers to plug in expandable handsets into a wall outlet without worrying about a phone jack.

Ideal for a home study, the EL42208 cordless phone offers a sophisticated, sleek design and operates on 5.8 GHz analog technology. It features any-key answering, on-hook dialing and table/wall mounting capabilities.

The new AT&T phones can be purchased online at http://www.telephones.att.com/ and at most major retail stores nationwide.
