ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Performance Technologies , a leading developer of communication platforms and systems, today announced the beta release of the AMC335, an intelligent synchronous four-port WAN, AdvancedMC(TM) module. Designed for embedded engineers seeking to provide communications connectivity in a small form factor, the AMC335 can be easily integrated into the company's recently launched MicroTCA(TM) offerings that include the award-winning 1U MicroTCA chassis, the MTC5070, and the highly integrated, ready-to-use Advanced Managed Platform(TM), the AMP5070.
The AMC335 is a fully programmable communications subsystem that is capable of sustaining high data rates for a variety of protocols that are used in synchronous data communications. The architecture of the AMC335 capitalizes on the intelligence of the Freescale(TM) MPC8270 Quad Integrated Communications Controller (PowerQUICC(R) II), which enables it to act as an optimized communications controller. The module is ideally suited for use in creating flexible and efficient radar gateways, radar recorders, protocol converters, serial gateways, and front-end I/O elements as well as many other communications devices that require RS232, RS422 (RS449/EIA530), and V.35 connectivity.
The AMC335 is fully supported by NexusWare(R), the company's CGL 4.0 Registered Linux(R) OS and development environment, as well as a complete set of installable WAN communications protocols.
"The AMC335 and our suite of NexusWare WAN protocols including Radar Receiver/SBSI, HDLC, X.25, TADIL-B, Asynchronous Data Transfer, and Frame Relay, are compatible with operating systems that include Linux(R), Windows(R), or Solaris(TM)," said Steven Wigent, senior product manager for Performance Technologies. "This allows us to provide design teams with another powerful AMC-based building block for their applications requiring a serial-based, I/O communications module."
Electronic system architects and design engineers needing advanced, compute-intensive MicroTCA solutions can meet with Performance Technologies representatives at the upcoming MicroTCA Summit in Chantilly, VA (May 28-29, 2008, booth 302) and the MicroTCA Conference in Munich, Germany (June 3, 2008).

The Codie Awards holds the distinction of being the only peer-recognition awards program of its kind in the industry, providing a unique opportunity for companies to earn the praise of their competitors. "We are excited to bring this feature to our digital cable customers throughout New England," said Randy Waddell, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Comcast's NorthCentral Division. "We are committed to delivering our customers the ultimate TV viewing experience and the addition of AnyRoom technology is yet another feature that allows them to view their favorite programming, whenever and wherever they want to watch."
How AnyRoom On Demand Works:
-- The "Saved Programs" list is shared among all digital cable boxes
within a household registered to the same account, allowing On Demand
movies or shows to be selected in one room and then viewed in another.
It also allows customers to watch the same program from two or more
different digital boxes simultaneously.
-- To continue watching or to restart a program in another room, customers
can simply go to the "Saved Programs" folder on their On Demand Main
Menu and select the desired program. The program will resume where it
left off.
-- All On Demand programs more than 19 minutes in length are included in
the AnyRoom feature. Any free, premium channel or paid program can be
watched during the "rental window" of the program on any TV in the home
that has a digital cable box.
-- All program titles that are saved on one digital box will be displayed
in the "Saved Programs" list on other digital boxes throughout the
home. Parents are encouraged to regularly confirm that their Parental
Control locks are in place as appropriate on each digital box
throughout the home. Information about Parental Control features can
be found at http://www.comcast.com/parental_controls or by calling the
dedicated parental control hotline at 1-866-781-1888.
AnyRoom On Demand is one of several features that enable customers to watch programs on their own terms. Earlier this year, Panasonic and Comcast announced the industry's first Portable DVR/DVD player powered by tru2way(TM) technology at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show. The Comcast/Panasonic co-branded AnyPlay(TM) Portable DVR (P-DVR) will allow Comcast customers to record programming at home and take it with them wherever they go. The P-DVR will be available beginning in early 2009.
Comcast's growing On Demand library offers access to more than 10,000 titles every month available any time customers want to watch them -- with the ability to fast forward, rewind and pause selections. In March, Comcast announced it surpassed its seven billionth On Demand view, including more than one billion in New England alone, since 2003. Comcast customers will have access to more than 1,000 high definition choices by the end of 2008, and beginning next year, Comcast plans to offer more than 6,000 movies a month On Demand, with more than 3,000 in high definition.
For more information on AnyRoom On Demand or to order Comcast digital cable service, customers can call 1-800-COMCAST or visit http://www.comcast.com/.

TI intermediate bus PWM controller increases energy efficiency over entire load rangePower supply controller supports half- and full-bridge topologies, achieves up to 97-percent efficiency
DALLAS, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on its portfolio of advanced pulse-width modulator (PWM) power management controllers, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) introduced today a power supply controller for unregulated output voltages that achieves up to 97 percent system efficiency in an intermediate bus architecture. The controller allows intermediate bus architecture power systems to combine the highest amount of energy savings, high power-density and low system costs in telecom and data communication systems with multiple downstream point-of-load conversions. See: http://www.ti.com/ucc28230-pr.
The integrated UCC28230 PWM controller supports both the half-bridge and full-bridge topologies and reduces overall size and the need for external components. Designers can set the operation to work in a fixed volt-second or fixed frequency mode, which reduces the size of the transformer.
The UCC28230 has a start-up frequency control feature that limits output inductor ripple current, allowing the use of a smaller, inexpensive inductor. The UCC28230 implements load-dependent dead-time control to improve efficiency over the entire output load range. It also has 1-D output that shorts the primary-side winding, which keeps the self-driven synchronous rectifiers under control during start-up and shut-down and through transient conditions. Additionally, the UCC28230 provides state-of-the-art protection features, such as input under-voltage lockout, thermal shutdown protection and cycle-by-cycle over-current protection.
Device flexibility allows additional use
The UCC28230 includes a precision 5-V reference voltage output for general-purpose voltage biasing. In addition, the UCC28231 includes a precision 3.3-V reference voltage output for the same purpose. For added flexibility, the controller can be paired with TI's UCC27200 dual high-side, low-side driver to drive MOSFETs for half- and full-bridge topologies. For more information on the UCC27200, see: http://www.ti.com/ucc27200-pr.
The UCC28230 intermediate bus controller can also be used in high-voltage applications such as DC/DC transformers, and it serves as a downstream converter when paired with TI's UCC28070 interleaved PFC controller. For more information on the UCC28070, see http://www.ti.com/ucc28070-pr.
Pricing and availability
Samples of the UCC28230 are available today from TI and its authorized distributors with production quantities scheduled for availability at the end of June 2008. The UCC28230 comes in thermally-enhanced 3 mm x 2 mm SON-12 and TSSOP-14 packages. Suggested resale price is $1.20 in quantities of 1,000 units.
PCIM Europe
TI is demonstrating the UCC28230, May 27-29 at PCIM Europe, booth #329, hall 12, Nuremberg, Germany. TI is also demonstrating software based digital power implementation using the TMS320F28x 32-bit digital signal controller and TI's ADS7869 converter to drive up to 10 DC/DC point-of-load channels.
In addition, TI will showcase a presentation on power management solutions and techniques for increasing the overall energy efficiency of a system from the AC line to the point of load.

Verizon Wireless Reminds Business Customers That Wireless Can Play a Vital Role in Disaster Preparation Plans
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless works year-round to prepare for natural disasters or other emergencies, so business customers can rely on its wireless network to keep them and their employees connected, productive and competitive -- even when the unexpected strikes.
"Wireless communication is especially important when disaster strikes -- whether a natural disaster, community emergency, or an emergency affecting a single business," said Jack Plating, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Verizon Wireless.
Verizon Wireless offers the following tips for businesses to consider before operations are interrupted:
-- Maintain an updated contact list, including mobile and home phone
numbers and e-mail addresses, for all employees.
-- Identify an alternative number or voice mail where calls can be
forwarded if your office is closed or employees are evacuated. Set up a
hotline number for employees, employees' families, customers and
partners to call for updates on the business situation and emergency
plan.
-- Make sure every employee knows how to use text messaging to
communicate. Text messages are more likely to get through, especially
when wireless networks are overwhelmed just before, during and
immediately after a natural disaster like a hurricane landfall or
tornado warning.
-- Equip key employees with laptops with Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess
service. When office computers or servers are destroyed by fire or
under water, or when electrical power is knocked out to your office,
Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess service enables businesses and mobile
professionals to conduct business anytime, anywhere in the
BroadbandAccess coverage area via a secure, high-speed data connection.
-- Be truly mobile by making sure company mobile phone and BroadbandAccess
users have chargers that can be plugged into auto cigarette lighters
for all their devices. When there's a widespread power outage,
business people can power their devices in their cars.
-- VZ Navigator(SM) (Version 4) is a Verizon Wireless service that can
provide enhanced directions to help drivers navigate around traffic
jams and other delays that can occur in weather-related crises such as
floods, hurricanes or wildfires.
Other general business continuity planning tips include:
-- Inventory critical equipment and applications, and assess any
vulnerability. Determine the best location for these services to help
reduce catastrophic outages and ensure rapid recovery response time.
Alternatives in addition to wireless backup range from physical
relocation of equipment to outsourcing.
-- Build redundancy to support critical operations. A combination of
diverse network routing, in addition to wireless data capabilities, and
the ability to duplicate mission-critical applications is essential to
communications and the continuity of business operations.
-- Train and educate your employees. An organization is only as good as
its people. Design an effective distributed work business model and
ensure employees have the training and tools to do their jobs -- either
in the office, on the road or at home. Perform skills set assessments
to understand staffing requirements necessary to support continuous
operations.
-- Review, test and refresh -- continuously. Once a plan has been
developed, it must be reviewed, tested and refreshed. A business
continuity plan is a living document and a critical business asset.
Plans should be routinely updated and tested throughout the year.
Verizon Wireless' reputation as the nation's most reliable wireless network is supported by industry-leading redundancy and maintenance measures. Verizon Wireless currently has more than 200 business continuity/disaster recovery plans in place, covering all of the company's critical business functions to help keep customers connected and operating during any kind of emergency. The Verizon Wireless business continuity team conducts emergency drills throughout the year to increase the company's response capabilities.
Verizon Wireless' emergency response capabilities have been tested and proven during many difficult situations including the wildfires of 2007 and 2008, recent tornadoes in the Midwest and South, flooding in the Northwest, and the extraordinary hurricane seasons of 2004 and 2005. The Verizon Wireless network in Florida withstood the impact of eight hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 and delivered top performance compared with other communication networks that were more adversely affected.

Lockheed Martin EQ-36 Counterfire Target Acquisition Radar Successfully Completes Critical Design ReviewNew 360-Degree Radar Contracted By the U.S. Army Ready to Move into Production Phase
SYRACUSE, N.Y., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockheed Martin recently completed a successful Critical Design Review (CDR) for the Enhanced AN/TPQ-36 counter-fire target acquisition (EQ-36) radar. The completion of this final design step, on schedule, clears the way for the program to move into an initial production phase for five radar systems.
The U.S. Army's new EQ-36 radar will provide the capability to detect, classify, track and determine the location of enemy indirect fire such as mortars, artillery and rockets in either 90-degree or 360-degree modes. EQ-36 systems will replace aging TPQ-36 and TPQ-37 medium-range radars, which only operate in limited 90-degree modes. The value of this acquisition could exceed $1.6 billion.
"It's about the Soldier. We're very much aware that the Army is in critical need of these systems in theater, right now," said Carl Bannar, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin's Radar Systems line of business. "The sooner we get these EQ-36 systems into the field, the sooner we can start saving lives."
The EQ-36 program remains on a fast track. In January 2007, Lockheed Martin received a contract award for approximately $120 million from the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office - Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors to provide the Army with five EQ-36 radars within 36 months. Lockheed Martin will deliver the first two EQ-36 systems to the Army by summer 2009; the third and fourth by fall 2009; and the fifth by early 2010.
In November and December, a prototype EQ-36 radar, built by industry partner Syracuse Research (SRC) under an Army Technology Objective, was tested in full 360-degree counter-fire mode against mortars and rockets at the U.S. Army's Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona. During the tests, which were specifically designed to evaluate the radar's ability to meet U.S. Army requirements, the EQ-36 prototype successfully located the firing positions of both rocket and mortar launchers in 360-degree mode. Live fire testing was conducted over a seven-day period without a single false alarm.
In October 2007, the EQ-36 program completed a successful Preliminary Design Review and Lockheed Martin and SRC debuted the EQ-36 prototype at the Association of the U.S. Army's Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
Headquartered in Bethesda, MD, Lockheed Martin employs about 140,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The Corporation reported 2007 sales of $41.9 billion.

REDMOND, Wash., May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Microsoft Corp. is adding no-cost Microsoft Exchange Labs e-mail for students and alumni to its Live@edu online communication and collaboration applications tailored for educational institutions. Live@edu with Exchange Labs gives students and alumni access to a reliable and security-enhanced e-mail experience similar to what they may use in the workplace, while university IT administrators can benefit from additional security features and simplified deployment. By bringing proven technologies to current education systems, Microsoft is helping IT administrators build closely connected infrastructures and create exceptional experiences for students and educators.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000822/MSFTLOGO)
Microsoft Exchange Labs Benefits IT Administrators, Students and Alumni Alike
Live@edu now offers institutions the option of giving their students and alumni an Exchange Labs inbox. Live@edu offers the following benefits to universities and students:
* Reliable communications. Universities can provide students with
hosted e-mail, featuring up to 10 GB inboxes and 20 MB attachments.
Students can also access their e-mail, contacts and calendar from
Outlook Web Access and Microsoft Office Outlook, as well as from
Web-enabled mobile phones, similar to what they may experience in
the work force.
* Building blocks for collaboration. Additional Live@edu services that
can be used for on-campus collaboration include shared calendars
with free/busy lookup between students, student directories with
administrative control to create distribution lists, and the ability
to add faculty and staff who are using Exchange on-premise to
student directories.
* Additional security. Live@edu with Exchange Labs also now allows
message tracking to confirm urgent e-mail was delivered, and content
filtering, which gives administrators the ability to block e-mail
with objectionable content.
* Institution identity. Schools can deepen the relationship with
students and alumni through an e-mail inbox with the school's logo,
a custom theme created by the institution and a school-branded
e-mail address that students can keep after they graduate.
"Having secure and reliable communications with our students is important to us," said Russell Wood, IT director at Hinds Community College. "Microsoft Live@edu gives students an e-mail experience similar to what they will use when they graduate and gives the IT administrators more control over message security."
Worldwide Momentum for Microsoft Live@edu Increases
Microsoft Live@edu, which also includes Windows Live Hotmail, Microsoft Office Live Workspace and Windows Live SkyDrive online storage, helps students manage their studies, share information and photos, collaborate with other students and faculty on projects, and stay connected easily with friends and family on campus and after they graduate.
As Microsoft continues to assist universities in better meeting their technology demands in an increasingly Web-connected world, institutions are signing up for Microsoft Live@edu around the world, from Japan to South Africa to Brazil to the United States. Since the launch of Live@edu in March 2005, thousands of universities, colleges and schools in 86 countries have enrolled in the program, and momentum continues to grow as universities discover the numerous benefits of deploying Live@edu.
"Providing our students with communication services marked by the UNINOVE brand and identity has been a dream and aspiration for us for a long time," said Jorge Luis Romano, IT infrastructure manager at UNINOVE, a large university in Brazil, where more than 70,000 students now benefit from Microsoft Live@edu. "We considered several options and chose Microsoft's Live@edu solution because it overachieved all of our expectations at zero cost. We now have the tools to develop a collaborative community with our own identity without having to worry about infrastructure."
Another advantage universities have found with Live@edu is the ability to keep up with discerning students' technology needs. Because students are more technologically savvy than ever before, they expect their school environments to have rich, high-quality communications capabilities, like those they use in their social lives. Limited budgets and prolonged deployment cycles, however, have made it difficult and time-consuming for colleges and universities to provide students with innovative communications. With Live@edu's no-cost, Web- based technology, universities can now easily meet students' technology expectations and, in turn, focus on providing students with the education and experience they need to learn and grow. Universities' needs are as diverse as the students they attract, and Live@edu offers everything from basic e-mail to more sophisticated collaborative applications.
"Kagoshima University deployed Live@edu for its 16,000 users because of its operational excellence for managing large scales of e-mail and the value of comprehensive services, including SkyDrive," said Professor Masato Masuya at Kagoshima University in Japan.
"The way students use technology is constantly evolving. E-mail, social networking, IM and texting are now all part of their digital experience," said Anna Kinney, group product manager for Microsoft Live@edu. "Universities want to adapt to these changing e-learning dynamics, and Microsoft Live@edu innovations help ensure they are prepared for that challenge."
Representatives from schools around the world will visit the Microsoft campus June 23-24 for Live@edu World, a gathering for Live@edu customers and technology leaders to discuss how they are utilizing the Web-based applications in the Live@edu suite to connect their students, faculty, staff and alumni for greater communication and collaboration.
"We are excited to partner with educators from around the world who are bringing the power of the Web to their campuses; Live@edu gets better year after year because of their input," said Bruce Gabrielle, senior product manager for Microsoft Live@edu.

Synopsys Unveils New IC Compiler Router Delivering 10X Speed-UpZroute Brings Multi-threaded Routing and Advanced DFM Optimizations to IC Compiler Users
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Synopsys, Inc. , a world leader in software and IP for semiconductor design and manufacturing, today unveiled Zroute, a new multi-threaded router fully integrated into IC Compiler. Driven by leading-edge early users in the microprocessor, consumer, wireless and computer-graphics markets, Zroute has been developed from the ground up to take full advantage of the newest multi-core microprocessor architectures and to solve emerging design-for-manufacturability (DFM) challenges in IC design.
Zroute's modern architecture incorporates state-of-the-art routing technology, such as native support of soft rules to enable "lithography-friendly" routing and avoid manufacturing problems. By simultaneously considering the impact of manufacturing rules, as well as timing and other design goals, Zroute delivers high quality of results (QoR) and improved manufacturability. Zroute was developed to take advantage of modern multi-core compute platforms. Utilizing a combination of advanced routing algorithms and multi-threading technology, Zroute has shown a speed increase of more than 10X on customer designs running on quad-core machines.
"With its multi-threaded capability and its flexibility to dynamically support both on-grid and off-grid routing, Zroute is very well-positioned to meet our needs for faster design closure," said Michael Shiuan, vice president of Engineering at S3 Graphics. "In our trials, Zroute converged 3.3 times faster when single-threaded and achieved a 10X boost in performance when we used it with a quad-core platform."
Zroute is incorporated as a standard feature in IC Compiler, offering an alternate choice for routing technology which can be enabled by customers as required. Zroute was specifically developed as a concurrent optimization router to deal with future technical challenges. Rather than addressing these issues later in the flow, Zroute's strategy reserves routing resources for yield optimizations at each step of the flow, enabling their impact to be considered simultaneously with other cost functions. Additionally, Zroute is multi-threaded at each of its internal steps. Its routing engines have demonstrated near-linear scalability of runtimes as the number of threads increases, promising significant speed-ups for IC Compiler customers transitioning to four- or eight-core platforms and beyond.
"Zroute is an excellent example of Synopsys' investment in R&D to help our customers stay ahead of the technology curve. Anticipating future requirements, we set out to develop a new router that not only could address the emerging issues of DFM, timing, and other design goals, but could do it much faster executing transparently on the new multi-core processors," said Antun Domic, senior vice president and general manager, Synopsys Implementation Group. "Zroute has been very successful with early adopters, and we're looking forward to bringing this exciting technology to all IC Compiler users."
Zroute will be in limited production availability as a standard feature in IC Compiler in June 2008.
About IC Compiler
IC Compiler is Synopsys' comprehensive physical design solution. It provides superior results and faster time-to-results by extending physical synthesis to full place-and-route, and by enabling signoff-driven design closure. Older solutions have a limited horizon because placement, clock tree, and routing are separate, disjointed operations. IC Compiler's XPS technology breaks down the walls between these steps by extending physical synthesis to full place-and-route. IC Compiler has a unified, TCL-based architecture that implements innovations and harnesses some of Synopsys' best core technologies. It is a complete physical design system with everything necessary to implement next-generation designs, including physical synthesis, design planning, placement, routing, timing, signal integrity (SI) optimization, power reduction, design-for-test (DFT), and yield optimization.

ICOP Digital Announces Commercial Launch of ICOP LIVE(TM)New Internet-Enabled Live Streaming Solution for Crisis Management Now Available Nationwide
LENEXA, Kan., May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ICOP Digital, Inc. , an industry-leading company engaged in advancing digital surveillance solutions, today announced the commercial launch of ICOP LIVE(TM), a wireless, audio and video streaming solution designed to provide real-time situational awareness to first responders, emergency managers and crisis coordinators.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080527/CLTU016 )
"A key competitive differentiator of ICOP LIVE is its ability to live stream real-time audio and video to nearly unlimited viewers simultaneously. Furthermore, there is no need to load special software on the receiving devices," stated Dave Owen, Chairman and CEO of ICOP. "To our knowledge, there is not another live streaming solution available that has our unique capability to positively influence the outcome of a crisis or crime-in- progress with this level of real-time situational awareness."
ICOP LIVE relays critical real-time information to multiple first responders before they reach the scene, as well as to those engaged in remotely monitoring an event or crisis in real time as it unfolds. The solution enables video to live stream to and from a first responder vehicle -- over wireless networks (including cellular networks, mesh networks, etc.). Moreover, law enforcement can live stream video from the ICOP Model 20/20(R)-W digital in-car video system installed in their vehicles to police headquarters and/or to multiple remote internet-enabled Windows(R) devices, such as smart phones, PDAs, laptops, desktops, etc. Further, the video can live stream to multiple authorized viewers simultaneously, all using secure protocols and without requiring special viewing software. High quality audio and video are recorded on the ICOP Model 20/20(R)-W (or ICOP Model 4000(TM) -- onboard digital recording system for mass transit) and stored on a local server for future use as unimpeachable evidence in court, if applicable, and/or for post- event analysis.
Beginning in March 2008, ICOP conducted a national beta test to affirm ICOP LIVE's functionality and user compatibility in real world applications of the technology. By involving agencies of varying size and scope serving a wide range of community profiles, ICOP garnered greater perspective on how first responder agencies, big and small, can best utilize the technology to confront and deal with crisis, crime-in-progress or other events that may compromise public safety. ICOP has successfully demonstrated how law enforcement can leverage the technology to gain real-time insight into local gang activity and other covert surveillance operations; to provide real-time surveillance of remote areas or of sites where suspicious activity has been reported; and to quickly escalate response to routine traffic stops or domestic disputes that have turned problematic, thus compromising officer and/or public safety, among other applications.
"By putting this technology into the hands of those it was designed to serve and allowing them to deploy it in ways they believe can best benefit their respective communities, ICOP gained invaluable knowledge that has allowed us to maximize our product positioning ... knowledge we are now putting to work to achieve rapid market penetration for this innovative technology," added Owen.
Over the past 12 months, ICOP has worked closely with its strategic marketing partners, Sprint Nextel and Strix Systems, to educate the public and private sectors on ICOP LIVE's value proposition to communities nationwide. ICOP will begin processing orders for ICOP LIVE effective immediately with shipments of related hardware and software expected to commence in June 2008.

Moving Tips for Consumers Include Negotiate AggressivelyTips, Tools and Advice For Consumers On The Move During National Moving Month In May
LOS ANGELES, May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interstate mover rate deregulation in 2008, combined with fewer consumers "on the move," has created a buyers market for professional moving services during National Moving Month this May. As a result, Move, Inc., the leader in online real estate and operator of Moving.com, recommends consumers negotiate more aggressively to lower costs and use the free moving tips and tools provided on Moving.com when planning their move this year.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080213/MOVEINCLOGO)
Services and tools provided free of charge to consumers at Moving.com include: Find a Mover; Find Moving Trucks; Find Moving Help; Find Self Storage; Boxes and Supplies; Free Credit Report; Move Planner; Salary Calculator, Local School Reports, City Reports, Compare two Cities, Rental Guides, and more.
"We recommend consumers leverage the convenience of Internet sites like Moving.com to locate professional movers and then shop rates aggressively to find the best pricing," said Anne Carroll, vice president of strategic partnerships at Move, Inc. "To win business during the high season kicked off every May by National Moving Month, some professional movers may even provide discounts on supplies, such as boxes and other related services."
Consumers unsure about what type of moving services they need can take an online quiz at Moving.com. After answering a series of short questions, they will receive a report to help decide whether full or self service assistance is necessary and what type of trucks are most appropriate. A handy chart compares the effort and cost involved in different types of moves, factoring in home size and timing.
"To help reduce stress over the cost of a move, consumers need to be sure to figure in every single item, including those in attics, basements, garages, sheds, closets and under beds," Carroll says. "We recommend consumer reach a complete understanding about costs with a professional mover ahead of time to avoid any surprises with the final bill."
Carroll recommends that consumers remember that quality is just as important as price in planning a successful move. At Moving.com, consumers are matched with prescreened, licensed and insured movers. Costs are higher or lower depending on shipment weight and distance since movers base their charges on shipment weight, current fuel costs, and other required services.
Effective January 1, 2008, the US Transportation Board announced the termination of mover rate agreements was necessary to protect the public interest, particularly the public's interest in reasonable shipper rates[1]. In compliance with the decision, the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) ceased all efforts to update, revise, maintain or program Bureau tariffs as of 2008[2].
Each year, approximately 19 million American households (42 million people) move to a new home, representing an average of 16 percent of the population or 115,000 people per day. In five years, nearly 80 percent of the US population will move.[3]

GibbsCAM Post Processors for Mori Seiki NMV Line ApprovedCollaboration Between The Two Companies Ensures That GibbsCAM Supports 5-Axis Programming
MOORPARK, California, May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cimatron Limited , a leading provider of integrated CAD/CAM solutions for the toolmaking and manufacturing industries, announced today that the set of its GibbsCAM(R) product's post processors that was developed for Mori Seiki's NMV line of machine tools has been validated by Mori Seiki. This collaborative effort between the two companies ensures that GibbsCAM's posted output supports the 5-axis simultaneous capabilities of these machine tools. As competitive pressures grow, the market demand for 5-axis simultaneous machine tools is also growing as they significantly reduce setups and improve overall part quality.
"Accurate post processors are still the Achilles tendons of today's advanced machine tools," explains Bill Gibbs, founder and CEO of Gibbs and Associates. "This is certainly the case when dealing with 5-axis machine tools. Working directly with Mori Seiki DTL, we were able to significantly reduce the time it took to develop the set of post processors for their NMV series."
The Mori Seiki NMV series of machine tools are high-precision, 5-axis control vertical machining centers. Using Mori Seiki's DCG(R) (Driven at the Center of Gravity) technology, vibration is controlled allowing for high precision at high speeds. DCG virtually eliminates vibration ensuring a high quality surface finish, outstanding acceleration performance and improved roundness. DCG along with Mori Seiki's DDM(TM) (Direct Drive Motor), Table-in-Table Construction and ORC(TM) (Octagonal Ram Construction) provide the NMV series with the power and stability required for today's demanding machining applications.
In addition to developing post processors for the Mori Seiki NMV line, Gibbs has also developed accurate machine models of the NMV8000 DCG and NMV5000 DCG for use with GibbsCAM's Machine Simulation capability. Machine Simulation allows program motions to be fully simulated to identify potential programming errors which would result in expensive machine tool crashes on the shop floor.

Once in silicon, the BIST capabilities provide the most efficient quality versus test time trade-off of any manufacturing test methodology, enabling the most cost efficient single-digit DPM (defects-per-million) quality levels in the industry. The BIST capabilities can also be coupled with desktop or ATE-based diagnostic tools for accelerated silicon bring-up and failure analysis activities, both key in meeting shrinking product windows.
Efficient Memory BIST
The latest release of ETMemory(TM) within the Dragonfly Test Platform continues to improve an already best-in-class embedded memory test solution, delivering the most efficient memory BIST and self-repair solution in the industry. Depending on test requirements of individual memories, the new solution can implement either a very compact fixed-algorithm BIST engine or a more versatile fully programmable BIST engine. The combined enhancements deliver up to 30% reduction in area overhead. Both engine types support a self-repair option and are fully integrated into all of LogicVision's automated diagnostic and yield analysis solutions. The Dragonfly test platform also includes VHDL language support for memory BIST.
Streamlined Logic BIST
The latest release of ETLogic(TM) within the Dragonfly Test Platform delivers several new enhancements and capabilities aimed at significantly improving ease-of-adoption. These include a new and more efficient RTL rule checking engine for easy adoption by RTL designers; up to 20% area overhead reduction through simplification of scan control logic; and the capability to combine logic BIST with legacy cores that only support traditional scan based testing including support for double-capture at-speed test.
Advanced Diagnostics and Characterization
Silicon Insight(TM)-desktop provides comprehensive at-speed SoC device-level debug and characterization using a PC laptop connected to a device performance board through a USB-to-JTAG cable interface. The latest release of Silicon Insight adds support for GPIB-based bench top equipment, enabling design and test engineers to perform voltage and frequency based characterization from a laptop PC. Silicon Insight now makes it possible to perform full device debug, diagnostics and characterization without the need to access or tie-up expensive automatic test equipment.
On the production floor, Silicon Insight-ATE now adds the option to perform automated production data logging, enabling design teams and their foundry partners to analyze detailed failure and performance data. The production data log can be used with LogicVision's Yield Insight(TM) tool to identify systemic yield limiting issues and help accelerate product yield ramps.
Availability
The latest enhancements to the Dragonfly Test Platform are in limited availability now and will be in full production in Q3, 2008.
