Verizon 7 Megabits per Second High Speed Internet Now Available to More Than 3.4 Million Homes in U.S.Service Offers Dedicated Ultra-Fast Downstream Connection Speeds; Provides Residential and Small-Business Customers Valuable Alternative to Cable Modem
NEW YORK, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 3.4 million consumers in parts of 20 states and the District of Columbia can now order Verizon's ultra-fast High Speed Internet service. Introduced in January to 400,000 qualified lines, Verizon has significantly expanded its broadband offer, which more than doubles the download speed of the company's next-fastest offer, and provides an appealing alternative to cable Internet.
Verizon's aggressive expansion of the service allows more qualified households to benefit from a downstream connection speed of up to 7 megabits per second (Mbps) for as low as $42.99 a month when ordered with an annual service plan.
"Our 7 megabits per second Internet service delivers considerable speed and a compelling option over cable Internet," said Susan Retta, vice president-broadband solutions for Verizon. "Many people are looking for faster broadband speeds for productivity and efficiency reasons, and they want to avoid the shared neighborhood model used by cable companies that can slow download speeds.
"This high-speed broadband is now available in many small communities, in addition to urban and suburban areas across the country," she said.

Verizon Wireless Expands Wireless Broadband Service in Washington and Warren CountiesWireless Customers Can Now Access the Internet at Broadband Speeds and Download Music, Videos and Games to Their Phones
GLENS FALLS, N.Y., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless announced today it has expanded BroadbandAccess, its wireless broadband service, in Washington and Warren Counties, giving local customers access to the latest high-speed business and entertainment services on their wireless phones, laptop and desktop computers, and PDAs.
Customers living in and visiting the area can now access their e-mail, corporate data, the Internet, and more at broadband speeds -- in their homes or on the road. They can also view and download video clips on their phones, download music onto their handsets over-the-air, play 3D games, and send large data files at faster speeds as the company continues to expand the next generation of its high-speed wireless broadband network across Upstate New York.
The company has added CDMA 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) technology to sites in the following areas:
Chestertown Lake Luzerne
Fort Ann Salem
Granville Warrensburg
Greenwich Whitehall
Kingsbury
"Verizon Wireless is focused on providing the best customer experience, and a major part of that commitment is making sure we continue to have the best, most reliable network," said Marquett Smith, president of Verizon Wireless' Upstate New York region. "Instead of merely offering wireless broadband service in metropolitan areas or near major airports, we're committed to giving our customers the ability to access the Internet, corporate data and premium entertainment content at broadband speeds throughout the Glens Falls/Lake George area and Eastern New York."
Verizon Wireless' wireless broadband network now stretches from Buffalo east through Rochester, Syracuse and Utica/Rome to Albany; north through Glens Falls and south through Poughkeepsie to the New York City area; Binghamton west through the Elmira/Corning/Hornell area to Olean; and in the Ithaca area. The entire Upstate New York EV-DO network is now Rev. A capable, meaning customers can enjoy even faster speeds than before when both downloading and sending large files on the company's broadband data network.
BroadbandAccess provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps, translating to being able to download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint(R) presentation or a large PDF file -- in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds.
"Our enhanced BroadbandAccess service gives our customers three key advantages in wireless communication: speed, mobility and security," said Smith. "With these advantages comes an increase in productivity and bottom-line business benefits."
The company's high-speed network also enables its V CAST multimedia services, offering customers the ability to download full-song tracks from a library of over 3 million tunes, play cutting-edge 3D games and stream video clips straight to their handsets with top transmission speeds. With content updated daily, customers can watch dozens of on demand videos, including breaking news, weather, sports highlights, and the hottest entertainment clips.
BroadbandAccess is available for $39.99 monthly access for 50 MB of data usage, or $59.99 monthly access for 5 GB of data usage with a new one- or two-year agreement. BroadbandAccess service also is available as an integrated option on select notebook and laptop computers. LSU Healthcare Network in New Orleans Named a Recipient of the Microsoft HealthVault Be Well FundPhysician Group To Provide Southeast Louisiana Patients Online Medication Information in the Event of Disaster, Developing National Model
NEW ORLEANS, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Louisiana State University (LSU) Healthcare Network today announced it has been selected as a recipient of the Microsoft HealthVault Be Well Fund. Be Well Fund recipients were chosen from nearly 200 proposals and announced at the second annual Microsoft HealthVault Solutions Conference on June 10 in Bellevue, Wash.
LSU Healthcare Network, the multi-specialty physician practice comprised of more than 500 faculty members of the LSU Health Sciences Center and LSU School of Medicine, will use the Microsoft grant to implement a system enabling tens of thousands of New Orleans-area patients and their doctors to go online and download their active medications, medication history and allergies. In the event of another disaster like Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans in August 2005, patients who are evacuated from the region without their medical records could log onto their Microsoft HealthVault account to access their medication information and ensure they receive appropriate short-term care. This vital medical information would then be available to the patient wherever treatment is provided, dramatically improving the quality of care and saving millions of dollars wasted on redundant care that might be necessary if their records were lost.
Participating patients need not have a LSU Healthcare Network physician but must have a Microsoft HealthVault account and their physicians must use free, web-based electronic prescribing, or "e-prescribing," technology from Allscripts to transfer information into their personal health records. LSU Healthcare Network, Microsoft and Allscripts hope that the program will establish a model that other cities threatened by natural disaster can implement to protect their citizens' health in an emergency.
"We are honored to be chosen as a recipient of the Be Well Fund to establish a model that cities across the United States can use to help mitigate the health impacts of natural disasters," said Frank Opelka, MD, Chief Executive Officer of LSU Health Network. "With an accurate personal health record populated with clinically relevant data derived from Allscripts ePrescribe and using an enabling technology like Microsoft HealthVault, patients can take their medical records with them wherever they go, no matter what potentially catastrophic conditions occur."
As the physician staff of the primary "safety net" clinics in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette, LSU Health Network serves the neediest patients in Southeast Louisiana, the region hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. In a broad-ranging response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed over 250,000 of LSU Health Network's paper medical charts and displaced thousands of its patients and providers, LSU Health Network is deploying an Electronic Health Record from Allscripts in their own clinics across Southeast Louisiana. The physician group also is leading the deployment of free, web-based electronic prescribing -- Allscripts ePrescribe(TM) (formerly known as eRx NOW) -- to all physicians in the state as the regional sponsor of the National ePrescribing Patient Safety Initiative(TM) (NEPSI(TM)), a coalition of technology and healthcare companies led by Allscripts and Dell, and co-sponsored by Microsoft and others.
"Microsoft is pleased to provide LSU Healthcare Network with seed funding to help ensure the people of New Orleans have online access to their vital health information whenever they need it, even in the event of a natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina," said Peter Neupert, corporate vice president, Microsoft Health Solutions Group. "Innovative provider organizations like LSU and companies such as Allscripts are playing a significant role in delivering on the promise of connecting health information and bringing healthcare into the Internet Age."
Allscripts Chief Executive Officer Glen Tullman commented: "Our vision has always been to provide physicians with the right information at the right time, improving quality and reducing costs, while at the same time connecting physicians to all of the most important healthcare stakeholders. With Microsoft's new HealthVault technology, we can now realize that vision and connect physicians with the most important stakeholder in healthcare, the patient! We applaud the continued leadership of Dr. Frank Opelka and his team and are proud of our strong partnership with Microsoft."
Mr. Tullman and Dr. Opelka are the co-chairs of NEPSI (http://www.nationalerx.com/), whose other sponsors are Aetna, Cisco Systems, Fujitsu, Google -- the coalition's Search Sponsor -- Horizon BCBS of New Jersey, NaviMedix, Quest Diagnostics, Sprint Nextel, SureScripts, Wellpoint, and Wolters Kluwer Health. The coalition supports the delivery of Allscripts ePrescribe free of charge to any licensed prescriber in America.
The Microsoft HealthVault Be Well Fund is designed to stimulate not-for-profit research and development across a broad range of health disciplines that have the potential to significantly improve health and wellness outcomes.

Brad Garrett Looks for Love OnlineNew Online Reality Series Begins Taking Video Applications Today
CULVER CITY, Calif., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Emmy Award-winning actor Brad Garrett kills two birds with one stone -- producing and starring in his first original online series and looking for love -- with his new reality series, Dating Brad Garrett.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080424/LATH509LOGO)
The ten-episode series will follow Garrett on blind dates with 10 lucky ladies, chosen from applicants who submit their own original videos online for a chance to make a love connection and be part of the show. Beginning June 12, women can upload their video applications at Crackle.com, (http://www.crackle.com/datebrad), where a panel of Garrett "experts," including his ex-wife and urologist, among others, will review the submissions and decide which applicants will spend a night on the town with the comedian.
"An online dating show seemed like a logical choice given that I'm in the midst of a mid-life crisis, and adverse to pain, which makes getting my ear pierced out of the question," said Garrett. "And since I'm not picky about my choices, I hope women of all sizes, shapes and colors will be compelled to submit their videos."
The series will premiere this fall on Crackle.com, YouTube, AOL Video, Hulu, Verizon Wireless' V CAST Video service, AT&T Wireless, and direct to Sony BRAVIA TVs via BRAVIA Internet Video Link.
Brad Garrett stars as Eddie Stark, one-half of a long-married couple, in the Sony Pictures Television original comedy series 'TIL DEATH for FOX, now heading into its third season. For nine seasons, Garrett portrayed Ray Romano's big brother Robert on the highly-rated series "Everybody Loves Raymond," earning him three Emmy Awards and five Emmy nominations.
Garrett's voice-over work includes voicing Gusteau, the late French culinary genius, in the Academy Award winning animated film, "Ratatouille;" Bloat the blowfish in "Finding Nemo;" Easter Island Head in "Night at the Museum;" and Dim, the rhinoceros beetle, in "A Bug's Life." In 2002, Garrett's portrayal of Jackie Gleason in the critically acclaimed CBS film, "Gleason," earned him an Emmy Award nomination and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for his role. Garrett's additional credits include: Disney's hit comedy, "The Pacifier;" Warner Bros.' "Music and Lyrics," with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore; and the Broadway production of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple."

FCC Policy on Wireless Termination Fees Better Than Inconsistent State Regulation, Verizon SaysCompany Executive Tom Tauke Lists Suggestions of Customers and Consumer Organizations at FCC Hearing on ETFs
WASHINGTON, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon told the Federal Communications Commission Thursday (June 12) that both consumers and the competitive wireless industry would fare better under an FCC-set national policy on early termination fees (ETFs) than under the confusing patchwork of inconsistent regulations and legislation being proposed in numerous states.
Testifying before FCC commissioners at a hearing on the fees consumers agree to pay if they terminate a cellular phone contract early, Tom Tauke, Verizon executive vice president of public affairs, policy and communications, said the wireless marketplace is functioning well and that his company acted early to expand consumers' options.
"The bottom line is this: We listened to consumer concerns, and adjusted our policies," Tauke said. "Customers can choose to purchase products and services with or without contracts that feature early termination fees based on their individual needs. And they have many choices -- both from Verizon Wireless and our competitors -- to meet their wireless needs."
But, given the alternative of inconsistent state regulations, he suggested a list of ETF-related changes -- many of which Verizon has already adopted -- for FCC consideration, if the agency plans to take action.
"Faced with the prospect of multiple state policies on this issue, Verizon believes that appropriate federal action to establish a national policy is preferable," Tauke said. "In an attempt to address consumer concerns about ETFs and to avoid confusion about multiple policies, we suggest that the commission consider adopting a set of national guidelines for ETFs for wireless services to ensure that consumers nationwide have the benefit of a consistent set of standards governing ETFs."
But he warned that any rules "not be overly prescriptive" and that the FCC "should be careful that the rules about ETFs not have the unintended consequence of taking one of the most popular consumer options off the table." That option is customers' ability to choose a term contract to avoid potentially higher upfront costs.
"Verizon Wireless offers our customers a number of payment-plan options to meet their communications needs, some with ETFs and some without," Tauke said. "Our experience is that -- whether it's the convenience of pricing stability, bundled services, or the discounted rate on the newest devices or services -- many customers prefer the benefits of one- or two-year contracts that feature ETFs."
Customers who don't want bundled services or a contract and value flexibility instead can buy a wireless device at a retail store and connect it to a network provider that supports the device, or choose a service provider with a pay-as-you-go option. "Some options feature contracts, others do not," Tauke said. "Regardless, it is the consumer who chooses, and all of those choices are the result of consumers telling the marketplace what options work best for them."
Tauke said customers and consumer groups had suggested a number of ideas, some of which have been adopted already by Verizon: reasonable ETFs: complete and proactive presentation of information about ETFs; opt-out or trial periods for new contracts; pro-rated ETFs; and no ETFs for contract renewals, unless there is additional economic benefit, such as a new device.
"While we continue to question the necessity of all of these provisions, we nevertheless believe that an FCC-adopted national policy for wireless ETFs that is consistent with this framework is workable for the wireless industry, and Verizon is prepared to support such a policy," Tauke said.
Verizon Communications Inc. , headquartered in New York, is a leader in delivering broadband and other wireline and wireless communication innovations to mass market, business, government and wholesale customers. Today's new release leverages the core strength of the NetSuite Wholesale / Distribution Edition-launched in April 2006-and is a natural progression of NetSuite's leading role in delivering Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business suites designed to address the specific requirements of vertical industries. NetSuite's offering for manufacturing, initially aimed at the light manufacturing sector, is also the latest example of how NetSuite's SaaS-based business management technology has evolved to address more complex processes in industries long dominated by on-premise vendors such as SAP. The company's rapid move into manufacturing comes at a difficult time for SAP, as they have struggled to deliver their own on-demand offering, Business ByDesign, to address customer requirements in their core market. NetSuite for Manufacturers now gives SAP customers and others an option they can purchase and deploy without delay. For more information about NetSuite for Manufacturers, please visit http://www.netsuite.com/manufacturing.
Manufacturers Have Varying Challenges
Light manufacturing businesses typically overlap with wholesale / distribution and span a huge spectrum of categories from apparel to furniture to small electronics. Regardless of which category a light manufacturer is in, the challenge has always been the management of the bill of materials, assembly build and work order process for both production orders that add to general stock levels, as well as special orders built uniquely for one customer. Software traditionally used by mid-market light manufacturing companies encompasses dozens of on-premise silo applications-one for accounting, one for customer relationship management, one for work orders, one for inventory management, one for warehouse management. The list goes on. This fragmented approach can add large IT cost, introduce a high rate of errors throughout the business process, provides little visibility on available-to-promise inventory, and decrease business efficiency and accuracy.
Enterprise Power at Lower Total Cost-of-Ownership
NetSuite for Manufacturers provides companies with essential visibility into the key build processes that light manufacturers need to compete effectively in the market. Since NetSuite's delivery model is SaaS and all functionality and data is within one system, the total-cost-of-ownership is greatly reduced and light manufacturers gain the following benefits:
-- Greater insight into production processes - from inventory, to
assembly, to demand based replenishment;
-- Real-time visibility throughout the entire organization - from sales
to warehouse operations to invoicing;
-- Minimal integration hassle - NetSuite provides one system to manage
the end-to-end business life-cycle;
-- Cost savings - reduced IT costs, reduced labor costs and reduced
errors;
-- Reduced risk - instant information can help reduce time to respond to
change;
-- Stay competitive in the ever competitive global economy for light
manufacturers.
Powerful Functionality Key to Light Manufacturers
NetSuite adds a myriad of important functionality that is key to running a light manufacturing business. The new features unveiled today include:
-- Assembly Management - building on NetSuite's core strength in
inventory and warehouse management, assembly items have been extended
specifically for light manufacturers which enable companies to more
effectively manage component quantities and multi-level assemblies.
Assemblies are closely tied with work orders and allow for multi-level
assemblies to be built one level at a time, or all at once.
-- Work Orders - new work order capabilities allow light manufacturers to
readily manage the build process for production work orders to
replenish standing inventory levels of finished goods or special order
work orders built to exact specifications for a particular customer.
For example, a furniture light manufacturer may have standard sized
wood or glass-top dining tables they build on an on-going basis, but
they may also offer custom-sized dining tables as a special order for
individual customers.
-- Bill of Materials (BOM) - any build process requires a bill of
materials that outlines what components are required to successfully
build the finished good. BOMs are tightly coupled with both
assemblies and work orders and cover the components required for a
single assembly plus all the components required by a particular work
order. Assembly instructions can also be included in the printable BOM
in PDF format.
-- Demand-Based Inventory Replenishment - light manufacturers can now
dynamically set re-order points and preferred stock-levels for both
components of assemblies as well as finished goods based on a variety
of factors including average lead time, historical or seasonal sales
demand, and number of days from supply to stock. Work orders drive the
demand for components as they are completed, thereby automating the
replenishment of source materials and components.
"Today's launch of NetSuite for Manufacturers validates our strong commitment to vertical industries by delivering functionality designed to drive greater efficiencies and competitiveness," said Mini Peiris, NetSuite's VP of Product Marketing. "NetSuite enables manufacturers to automate complex business processes without the cost and complexity of cobbling together multiple business applications, and numerous spreadsheets. As a result, customers can stop wasting precious resources and start focusing on increasing customer service levels, cutting costs, and growing their businesses."
Pricing and Availability
NetSuite for Manufacturers is available now at $999 per month and $99 per user per month.

NetSuite Developer Partners Leverage Power of NetSuite Business Operating System to Meet Needs of ManufacturersOmnify Software, Configure One, SPS Commerce and SuiteCommerce Extend NetSuite Using NS-BOS to Provide Product Lifecycle Management, Configurators, EDI Gateway
SAN MATEO, Calif., June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NetSuite Inc. , a leading vendor of on-demand, integrated business management software suites for the mid-market enterprise and divisions of large companies, today announced the latest product extensions to NetSuite built by NetSuite developer partners using the NetSuite Business Operating System (NS- BOS). These new ISV-built solutions are focused on meeting the specific needs of manufacturing companies and the availability of these solutions was timed to coincide with today's unveiling of NetSuite for Manufacturers (please see separate product news announcement). The NetSuite ISV partners include Omnify Software, Configure One, SuiteCommerce, and SPS Commerce. For more information about NS-BOS, please visit http://www.netsuite.com/NS-BOS.

"These partners illustrate the power and flexibility of NetSuite's platform," said Per Jacobsen, NetSuite's Vice President of Product Management. "Whether building new vertical solutions, or extending, customizing, and delivering specific industry processes, the NS-BOS development platform enables our partners to focus their energy on building their solutions and business, and not on delivery. This helps them to rapidly expand into increasingly dynamic and vertical markets with best-of-breed functionality."
In today's dynamic market, companies require solutions designed for their specific business. At the same time, ISVs and developers are looking to transition their applications to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to reduce infrastructure costs and allow customers to take advantage of the numerous benefits that SaaS applications offer. NS-BOS delivers the SaaS development platform that addresses these two growing market trends. By building on and extending the core of NetSuite, NS-BOS increases ISVs speed-to-market. This is because every vertical application can interact with and leverage the core ERP / CRM / Ecommerce functionality of NetSuite and related data managed by the suite. This way, developers can focus on their vertical differentiation rather than spending time on "horizontal" functionality such as quote or order management.
Omnify Software, Configure One, SuiteCommerce, and SPS Commerce are a few of the many NetSuite ISVs and VARs who are taking advantage of the power of NS-BOS to offer industry-specific solutions that span a range of applications- from product lifecycle management to configurator-based quoting and sales. The following are highlights of their most recent NetSuite-based solutions:
Omnify Software (http://www.omnifysoft.com/) -- Delivers a business-ready Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution that offers visibility into the entire product development process by providing a single, secure location to manage the product record including: component data, bill of material, engineering change, documentation, project, quality/CAPA, training records, and compliance information.
"Becoming a member of the NetSuite BOS Developer Program bolsters Omnify's commitment to partnering with complementary technology vendors," said David Whitney, vice president of strategic sales for Omnify Software, based in Andover, Mass. "Integration between Omnify and NetSuite benefits manufacturing customers by automating the flow of product information between Omnify and NetSuite to eliminate manual data entry, improve change management processes and ensure that manufacturing always receives current and accurate product data."
Configure One (http://www.configureone.com/) -- Designed for manufacturing companies who produce highly configurable or customized products, such as in assemble-to-order or engineer-to-order environments. The solution prevents the selection of incompatible options, enabling a guided-selling process with images and help links while allowing the dynamic creation of bills of material based on pre-defined rules.
"Our product and NetSuite complement each other very nicely, and we're excited about becoming a NS-BOS Developer Partner," said Mike McDonnell, Vice President of Product Development for Configure One, based in Oak Brook, Illinois and Essex, England (UK). "Manufacturing companies such as Satcom Resources can now create configurations and proposals within NetSuite using our Concept Product Configurator and readily convert the proposals to a NetSuite sales order once the business is won. In addition, Concept can also automatically create new items and generate bills of material on-the-fly, all within NetSuite."
SuiteCommerce (http://www.suitecommerce.com/) -- Delivers an online product configurator allowing manufacturers to let their customers self-service order more complex products online. In addition, SuiteCommerce delivers a set of NS-BOS based advanced Ecommerce capabilities, including product reviews and integrated Google Analytics.
"By leveraging the NS-BOS platform, we've been able to rapidly build a broad range of advanced ecommerce applications useful to manufacturers, who increasingly require a direct web connection to their channels and customers," said Diego Terra, CEO of SuiteCommerce, based in Miami, Fla. "Relying upon NS- BOS allows our company to focus on building our business and not delivery."
SPS Commerce (http://www.spscommerce.com/) -- Offers market-leading B2B integration & EDI outsourcing services for seamless connections to supply chain trading partners. NetSuite solutions, including NetSuite for Manufacturers, are pre-wired for SPS' network of more than 1,200 trading partner relationships. SPS integrates trading partner information with NetSuite's order management, fulfillment and promised delivery dates to the customer. These streamlined communications help manage manufacturing production flow, providing end-to-end visibility from raw material delivery to finished goods.
"Manufacturers are looking to streamline their systems while improving their ability to support and sell products to their customers," said David Novak, Executive Vice President of Business Development at SPS Commerce. "The strategic partnership between NetSuite and SPS Commerce has delivered an integrated on-demand solution that enables manufacturers to meet the complex and growing requirements of trading partners using NetSuite. This one-system approach, made possible with NS-BOS, helps make trading partner communications more accurate, timely and automated."
NS-BOS Momentum
Since its launch in February 2008, NS-BOS has attracted more than 1,000 ISVs and developers, who have created over 60 applications, built on NetSuite, across 15 vertical application areas. NetSuite Business Operating System (NS- BOS) delivers a platform for customization and vertical application creation that includes:
-- Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Infrastructure -- Third parties developing
applications on NS-BOS will host those applications on NetSuite's
multi-tenant, on-demand architecture.
-- Complete Suite -- By including the NetSuite application within the NS-
BOS application development environment, developers can embed the
industry-leading ERP / CRM / Ecommerce suite within their applications.

STMicroelectronics Introduces STM8S Microcontrollers, Bringing Advanced 8-bit Core and Platform Scalability to Industrial ApplicationsNew robust and reliable 8-bit MCU family combines STM8 processing power, on-chip true EEPROM, software and pin-out compatibility, plus peripherals common to families including the STM32
GENEVA, June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- STMicroelectronics , a world leader in microcontrollers, has added new 8-bit MCUs using its next-generation STM8 core, by introducing the STM8S family specified for the industrial temperature range. The new MCUs combine the core's high speed, performance and code efficiency with versatile peripherals, including a number of specific features for robustness and reliability. Integrated memory, including true EEPROM, simplifies emulation. The STM8S family lowers system cost and development time and increases performance in industrial and appliance applications.
The 8-bit STM8 core has a 32-bit memory interface and three-stage pipeline, achieving 20 MIPS peak processing performance at 24MHz. A stack pointer and 16-bit index registers enhance manipulation of tables, and the core's 16 Mbytes of linear memory address space streamlines paging operations above 64 Kbytes. In addition, improvements to stack-pointer operations, supplemental addressing modes and new instructions boost support for C programming and real-time performance to increase code density and processor efficiency.
"The 32-bit STM32 and 8-bit STM8 families are the foundations on which our microcontroller portfolio will grow, to address the majority of current and future market needs," said Jim Nicholas, General Manager of ST's Microcontroller Division. "This new STM8 family of 8-bit microcontrollers ticks all the boxes, in terms of performance, peripherals and reliability, to offer a leading-edge solution for industrial and appliance applications."
Alongside the advantages of the STM8 core, the STM8S family includes large on-chip Flash memory with variants from 4 Kbytes to 128 Kbytes. The integrated EEPROM delivers performance comparable to external EEPROM, with real-time read-while-write capability and minimum 300,000 write-cycle durability.
Developers using the STM8S family can take advantage of software and package-in-package compatibility within the family, as well as peripheral compatibility throughout ST's MCU families including the 32-bit STM32 series. This compatibility promotes platform design and provides access to a large catalog of functions including 16-bit advanced control timers with configurable modes, capture/compare functions, PWM controllers, and interfaces including U(S)ARTs, SPI, I2C and CAN 2.0B. Other integrated features save footprint and component count in industrial applications, including an accurate internal 16MHz RC oscillator saving the need for an external clock source, Power On Reset (POR) and Brown-Out Reset (BOR) eliminating external reset circuitry, and high current-injection immunity saving the need for external protection.
In addition to specific features for reliability and robustness, such as dual independent watchdogs, a clock security system, complementary copy of configuration option bytes, and EMS reset, the STM8S family also includes in-application programming and in-circuit programming, as well as single-wire debug using the industry's most advanced in-circuit-debugging module. In addition, four low-power modes help developers implement responsive power management schemes in applications such as home appliances and personal-care equipment, battery-operated devices, power tools, HVAC equipment, motor controllers and circuit breakers. The supply voltage range from 3.0V to 5.5V also simplifies development and eases upgrading of legacy designs.
The STM8S development environment supports high-end emulators that include complex functions such as code profiling and coverage, as well as low-cost debugging tools offering free IDEs and free 16-Kbyte versions of C compilers. Numerous reference examples in firmware, together with a dedicated library compliant to class B of the IEC60335 standard, are included to help developers meet the certification process for new safety regulations.
The STM8S family is available in a wide range of package styles including 32-pin to 80-pin LQFPs, 20-pin to 48-pin QFNs and a 20-pin TSSOP. Prices begin at less than $1.00 in the LQFP32 package with 32 Kbytes of on-chip Flash, in quantities of 10,000 pieces. The STM8S family is currently sampling to lead customers -- wider sample availability will follow shortly.

Comcast Cable's Eastern Division, Cell Phones for Soldiers and ReCellular Team Up to Connect Troops With Their Families This Father's Day and Year-RoundCell Phones for Soldiers to Turn Donated Phones Into 18 Million Calling Card Minutes for U.S. Troops
OAKS, Pa., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Comcast Cable's Eastern Division announced a partnership with Cell Phones for Soldiers to make it easier for service members overseas to call home without calling collect. Comcast has collected nearly 300 older cell phones from employees throughout its Eastern Division, and has committed to donating up to 1,200 within the first year of the partnership. The phones will be sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each donated phone -- enough to provide an hour of talk time in pre-paid calling cards to soldiers abroad.
The Cell Phones for Soldiers program works to turn old cell phones into more than 18 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas. To do so, Cell Phones for Soldiers expects to collect 25,000 cell phones each month through a network of more than 10,000 collection sites across the country.
"Comcast is pleased to help provide opportunities for service members overseas to stay connected with their friends and families during special occasions like Father's Day and throughout the year," said Michael Doyle, president of Comcast Cable's Eastern Division and founder of CN8, The Comcast Network. "Comcast employs hundreds of veterans and service members throughout its footprint, and we are pleased to add this to our growing roster of public service programs and initiatives to support troop members and their families."
Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded by teenagers Robbie and Brittany Bergquist from Norwell, Mass., with $21 of their own money. Since then, the registered 501c3 non-profit organization has raised almost $2 million in donations and distributed more than 500,000 prepaid calling cards to soldiers serving overseas.
"Cell Phones for Soldiers started as a small way to show our family's appreciation for the men and women who have sacrificed the day-to-day contact with their own families to serve in the U.S. armed forces," said the teens' father, Bob Bergquist. "Over the past few years, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of others -- but as more troops continue to serve overseas and for longer assignments, there is a continuing and growing need to expand our efforts."
Through increased fundraising efforts, the Bergquist family hopes to raise more than $9 million in the next five years to fund new programs, such as providing video phones and prepaid service to allow soldiers abroad to see and speak with their families on a regular basis.
"Americans will replace an estimated 130 million cell phones this year," said Mike Newman, vice president of ReCellular. "The majority of these phones either discarded or stuffed in a drawer -- most people don't realize that the small sacrifice of donating their unwanted phones can have a tremendous benefit for a worthy cause like Cell Phones for Soldiers."
Approximately half of the phones ReCellular processes are reconditioned and resold to wholesale companies in more than 40 countries around the world. Phones and components that cannot be refurbished are dismantled and recycled to reclaim materials. This year alone, ReCellular expects to recycle one million pounds of scrap phones and accessories, and it works with recycling partners to reclaim materials from virtually every component donated, including:
-- Gold, silver and platinum from circuit boards
-- Copper wiring from phone chargers
-- Nickel, iron, cadmium and lead from battery packs
-- Plastic from phone cases and accessories
-- Paper and cardboard from shipping materials used for donations
ReCellular has supported more than 2,000 national and local charities since pioneering its Charity Cell Phone Donation Program. In 2007 ReCellular raised $8 million for charities such as Cell Phones for Soldiers.
"One of the founding principles of ReCellular is to build a successful business that is both socially and environmentally responsible," added Newman. "It is a great honor and privilege to support such a worthy and inspiring effort as the Bergquists' Cell Phones for Soldiers, and we are delighted to see companies like Comcast joining in the campaign."
Partnering with Cell Phones for Soldiers is just one of the many ways Comcast shows its support for America's troops. From signature "Get Local" programs like Troop Greetings ON DEMAND, a service that allows military personnel stationed overseas to send special holiday greetings to their loved ones back home, to military-focused investments, volunteerism and programming, Comcast helps connect service members and their families to what matters most in their lives. Most recently, Comcast's Eastern Division made military service graduations from the Air Force, Naval Academy and West Point available to its Digital Cable subscribers through its Local Video ON DEMAND service, allowing customers to watch at their own convenience from home, with the ability to pause, fast-forward and rewind.

March Networks Corporation (the "Company") - Notice of Cancellation of AIM Listing
OTTAWA, June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Company hereby notifies that, following a review of the Company's AIM listing by its Board, the Company has decided to cancel the admission of its common shares to trading on AIM with effect from 7.00 a.m. BST on 11 July 2008 (the "Cancellation Date"). The last trading day on AIM will be 10 July 2008.
Given the Company's Canadian focused shareholder base, the Board concluded that the additional costs incurred in maintaining a second listing on AIM were inappropriate. Due to the relatively low number of the Company's shareholders holding shares on the Depositary Interest register and the low volume of trading in shares on AIM, when compared with the regulatory and financial commitment required to maintain an AIM listing, the Board of the Company considers it in the best interests of the Company to seek a cancellation of its shares from trading on AIM. The relatively low profile of the Company on AIM, together with its low level of trading and the costs and inconveniences associated with an AIM listing, result in the Board's opinion that such a listing cannot be justified.
The Company will still be maintaining its listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange ("TSX") and shareholders wishing to trade the Company's Common Shares after the Cancellation Date will be able to do so through that market. Shareholders should not therefore be materially prejudiced by the proposed cancellation of the AIM listing.
Depositary Interest holders should, within 90 days of receiving notice from the Company's UK transfer agents Computershare Investor Services PLC ("Computershare") of the termination of the Depositary Agreement, submit in the normal manner a "CREST Withdrawal form" and notify Computershare how they wish to deal with their shares. If the shares are to be held through a CDS Broker you will need to supply the CDS Deposit Reference of your agent in Canada.
Upon cancellation of the AIM listing, your Depositary Interests will be transferred into a certificated holding unless you have submitted a CREST Withdrawal form as mentioned above.
We encourage you to migrate your holding from AIM/Crest to TSX as soon as practical.
Shareholders are advised to consult their stockbroker, bank manager, solicitor, accountant or other independent professional adviser for the procedure to follow to transmit their shares to the Canadian shareholder register, or to contact Computershare Investor Services PLC, the Pavillions, Bridgwater Road, Bristol BS13 8AE, United Kingdom, Telephone: +44 (0) 870 702 0000, http://www.computershare.com/ web.queries@computershare.co.uk for the procedure to follow. AT&T and Nonprofits Launch Educational Campaign to Keep Consumers Safe OnlineCampaign Will Promote Internet Safety Via Studies, Education and Programs for At-Risk Youth
SAN ANTONIO, June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In recognition of National Internet Safety Month, AT&T Inc. today announced a collaboration with nonprofit advocacy organizations to promote a safe online experience for consumers. AT&T also encouraged parents to be involved in their children's online activity, including wireless devices and computers. As the nation's largest broadband and wireless provider, AT&T has a long-standing commitment to protect consumers online and safeguard their Internet experience. The company offers parental controls for various communications modes such as Surf Smart (Internet at home), Wireless Smart (mobile phone), Watch Smart (TV) and Talk Smart (home phone).
"June is an important time of year to raise awareness for consumers about creating a safe online experience," said Brent Olson, AT&T assistant vice president of Public Policy. "With kids out of school and more people spending time online, kids are more likely to be surfing the Internet and keeping track of friends and family on mobile phones and other hand-held devices, both wired and wireless, not to mention the familiar family computer. With today's convergence of technologies, we strongly encourage parents to understand and keep updated on their children's online and mobile phone activities and to educate them about the risks they face online and the measures they can take to protect themselves."
Along with the tools and services that AT&T provides to customers to help keep their families safe, the company is also supporting a number of critical outreach efforts that will help educate parents, children and communities about online safety. AT&T is working with the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI), the Internet Keep Safe Coalition (IKeepSafe), Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) officers and Enough Is Enough to provide the resources and educational opportunities necessary to inform consumers of all ages about the benefits and challenges faced online.
"We've taught our children to be wary of 'stranger danger' on the playground, but their wide use of the Internet and networking sites expands the dangers of a virtual playground that reaches into our homes," said U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean, who sponsored the U.S. House of Representatives resolution designating June as National Internet Safety Month.
AT&T supports FOSI -- an international nonprofit organization committed to providing innovative solutions for family online safety -- who will issue three studies focused on best practices in online safety education.
"FOSI works to promote the best online tools, which include tools for wireless phones with Internet capabilities," said Stephen Balkam, CEO of FOSI. "AT&T is committed to helping consumers and their families implement safe online practices, and their involvement, especially with Wireless Smart Limits, will strengthen our coordinated efforts for family safety."
Later this fall, with support from AT&T, the IKeepSafe coalition and DARE officers will launch an Internet safety program for children that will be provided in schools throughout the country. The online safety program will target children in grades one through five, with an emphasis on cyberbullying for fifth-graders. Programs also will be provided to parents and organizations in these communities.
"It's wonderful to collaborate on this project with AT&T, a company with a long-standing commitment to educate consumers about how to keep safe on the Internet," said Marsali Hancock, president of IKeepSafe. "AT&T is dedicated to reaching consumers with important Internet safety messages every day to protect consumers online and safeguard their Internet experience."
AT&T is also supporting a program through Enough Is Enough, an Internet safety organization dedicated to protecting children and families from the Internet dangers of pornography and sexual predators. The program targets at- risk youth, who have little to no parental supervision and are in an environment that makes them more susceptible to risky online behavior. The pilot program launches in Virginia in the fall, and the national rollout is next year. The organization will also distribute an online safety 101 kit for parents later this year, with tips and instruction from a variety of organizations and companies, including AT&T.
To help consumers have a safer online experience, AT&T offers a full library of supportive Internet safety and security tips and interactive safety games for kids, all available at http://www.att.com/safety. In addition, consumers can go to http://onguardonline.gov/ to review practical tips from the federal government and the technology industry to help them be on guard against Internet fraud, secure their computer and protect their personal information.

Microsoft Announces Alliance to Accelerate Consumer-Centered Delivery of Health and Human ServicesConnected HHS Framework will speed service delivery to most-vulnerable citizens.
WASHINGTON, June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today at the Government Health IT Conference & Exhibition an alliance of partners unveiled its work on a comprehensive, multivendor connected health and human services (HHS) technology architecture that is connecting disparate state and jurisdictional human services systems to give providers one comprehensive view into citizen/customer needs. The group supports today's release of version 2.0 of the Microsoft Connected Health and Human Services Framework, which presents a flexible, individual and family-centered approach for addressing the challenges that face HHS agencies, departments and programs as they respond to complex social needs and problems and deliver services to individuals and families in need.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000822/MSFTLOGO)
Launch partners include ACS, Atlanta; Avanade, Seattle; CGI, Fairfax, Va.; EDS, Plano, Texas; ESRI, Redlands, Calif.; Harmony Information Systems, Reston, Va.; IDV Solutions, Lansing, Mich.; MidTech Partners, Centennial, Colo.; Netsmart Technologies, Great River, N.Y.; Nets To Ladders, Austin, Texas; NWN Corp., Waltham, Mass.; Plexis Healthcare Systems, Ashland, Ore.; Saber Government Solutions (an EDS company), Portland, Ore.; Unisys, Blue Bell, Pa.; and VisionWare Ltd., Glasgow, Scotland.
"The extensive engagement of current and future partners in this framework will allow all of our state customers to provide a holistic approach to serving the citizens with whom they are engaging," said Bill O'Leary, executive director of HHS for the U.S. Public Sector at Microsoft Corp. "This group of partners is coming together to put a stake in the ground around connecting information technology and cross-agency processes so citizens are the beneficiaries of top-notch service."
Consumer-Centered HHS
Historically, HHS integration efforts have run into roadblocks, often requiring dramatic restructuring of organizations, ripping out and replacing large investments in technology systems, and transferring data ownership from host agencies. Many HHS agencies, departments and programs are disconnected, both in terms of information technology and internal processes. Multiple legacy systems that support services to the same individuals or families have often been built without reference to each other. Individuals and families, consequently, are forced to traverse programs from different entry points, providing largely the same personal information to receive components of services that address only some of their needs.
In response to these challenges, Microsoft, in working with industry partners and numerous HHS state and federal agencies, noticed the need for a connected HHS framework that links people, information, systems and devices to help expand access to care, improve quality of services and outcomes, and help protect the safety and well-being of clients and the community.
Enabling consumer-centered scenarios across government empowers caseworkers to have a complete case history on the individuals they are servicing. The Connected HHS Framework provides support for a systematic and leveraged road map approach to program enhancements so caseworkers can more rapidly gain insight to the multiprogram interactions that are common to the clients they serve -- not only in HHS, but across other agencies as well including justice, public safety and education, for example. The framework fosters an industry-standards-based shared-services model that facilitates efficient and effective reuse of business and technical functions common across the numerous stand-alone programs representative of state HHS agencies.
Through the new alliance, the group will combine industry-leading applications, information infrastructure and delivery expertise to accelerate the bridging of legacy program silos to better serve state and municipality constituencies across the country. The framework does this by detailing the core infrastructure requirements based on the Windows family of servers, tools and applications for integration, security, collaboration, reporting and analysis.
"While our Connected HHS Alliance partners are committed to the consumer-centered vision and supporting framework of delivering best-in-class shared services and commercial off-the-shelf-based solutions, they are also committed to working with each other as they produce new and consume existing key services required for integrated care," said Kevin Dolan, director of HHS for the U.S. Public Sector Alliance at Microsoft. "We welcome additional partners to join the Connected HHS Alliance to further accelerate this initiative."
Launch members and contribution samplings include the following:
-- ACS Government Healthcare Solutions has been meeting the challenges of
government healthcare programs for more than 30 years. ACS'
revolutionary Informed Health suite of health information exchange and
e-health solutions aligns with the Connected HHS Framework and uses
Microsoft technology and products. The Patient Data Hub accumulates
healthcare data about an individual or population. Real-time
algorithms analyze the shared data set and provide evidence-based
clinical decision support to each stakeholder -- physician,
pharmacist, patient, employer and payer -- improving healthcare and
saving money. ACS has experience implementing the Connected HHS
Framework in Missouri.
-- Avanade. As an example of a security-enhanced shared service
conforming to the Connected HHS Framework, Avanade has co-developed an
end-user provisioning and single sign-on system. The security
mechanism grants access to various systems, and authorizes users to
access applications via role-based security using a variety of
integrated approaches, including Active Directory Federated Services
(ADFS). This framework is being expanded to allow security-enhanced
and effective use of applications hosted within an environment by
consolidating the provisioning and allowing for management of the user
life cycle. This foundation, which meets HIPAA, ADA, and other federal
privacy and accessibility guidelines, also provides audit capabilities
and enables a user to sign on once, which consequently provides user
access to other approved systems without additional sign-on screens.
This security solution was first implemented in conjunction with EDS
in Kentucky with additional deployments in Alabama and Florida.
-- CGI uses proven approaches and experience gained working with more
than 40 state and local HHS agencies to deliver solutions for child
welfare, integrated eligibility and enterprise case management.
govMosiac, a comprehensive, government-specific reference model,
incorporates domain expertise tailored to HHS agencies. CGI's
infoSACWIS solution uses Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services to
deliver federal compliance and performance metrics for child welfare
in a user-friendly and timely manner. With CGI Mobile Worker, case
workers can capture information in the field, increasing data quality.
CGI also offers CAS version 5.0, a .NET-based fraud detection and case
management solution.
-- EDS' interChange Claims & Administrative Platform solution for
Medicaid Management Information Systems embraces the core technologies
and service-oriented architecture (SOA) that align with Connected HHS
Framework and Medicaid Information Technology Architecture 2.0
guidelines. The EDS "360-Degree Healthcare Continuum" places the
citizen at the center of program services to enable more complete,
effective and efficient service delivery for HHS. Within the EDS
model, governments connect previously siloed services and solutions to
optimize the distribution of knowledge, empower consumers, improve
performance and streamline business processes.
-- ESRI, a global provider of geographic information systems (GIS)
software, provides enterprise-level geographic data management,
spatial analytics and location-aware information presentation
solutions to thousands of HHS organizations. ESRI solutions help
agencies improve the accuracy and timeliness of geographically
relevant information used to inform the public, make policy decisions,
evaluate services and initiate emergency response. ESRI deployments
include West Nile virus surveillance in Pennsylvania, Advanced
Emergency GIS (AEGIS) at Loma Linda University Medical Center, a
vaccination stockpile in Nebraska, and a public health data and
emergency management information system in South Carolina.
-- Harmony Information Systems is a provider of Web-based information
management solutions for government and private human services
organizations. Harmony has long been aligned with Microsoft's
Connected HHS Framework and vision. Harmony's enterprise approach
automates and simplifies case management and financial management
processes and creates a centralized, comprehensive client view,
resulting in improved client outcomes, more efficient service
delivery, and compliance with key funding guidelines and requirements.
Harmony solutions have been implemented in Alabama, Virginia and
Washington, D.C.
-- IDV Solutions is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner that enables
organizations to make their data more actionable using best-in-class
data visualization and business intelligence technologies. The IDV
Visual Fusion Suite helps organizations engage with enterprise data in
an interactive, easy-to-use, Web-based environment that makes
information more accessible, understandable and contextual. Visual
Fusion has been deployed in numerous enterprise and government
organizations including Thomson Reuters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and the states of Alabama and
Michigan. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence uses IDV
software to report worldwide avian flu alerts and watches.
-- MidTech Partners is a technology integration services company with a
special focus on business process integration, portal development and
business intelligence. As a leading partner experienced with Microsoft
BizTalk Server, MidTech provides business process integration
solutions for the Connected HHS Framework. Examples include common
client-indexing teaming (with fellow Connected HHS Alliance partner
VisionWare) in Alaska and numerous health information exchange
projects that require deep integration with disconnected systems.
-- Netsmart Technologies. Netsmart provides enterprise software solutions
to more than 18,000 health and human services organizations, including
300,000 care providers and 38 state systems. Netsmart customers
include public health departments, mental health and substance abuse
clinics, psychiatric hospitals, private and group mental health
practices, vital records offices and managed-care organizations.
Netsmart's Connected Care initiative allows behavioral and public
healthcare providers to share clinical data electronically and provide
that clinical data to the consumer through a Web-based portal on
Microsoft .NET, helping them use technology as the catalyst to provide
their consumers and patients with high-quality, consumer-directed
care. Netsmart is planning to use the framework model to enhance its
patient portal via an interface to HealthVault, Microsoft's consumer
health records platform. In addition, a sampling of key Netsmart Vital
Records management deployments on Microsoft SQL Server include New
Jersey, Maryland, South Dakota, Nevada, Illinois, Florida, the Virgin
Islands, Nebraska, Ohio and Kentucky.
-- Nets to Ladders' customer relationship management (CRM)-based hosted
platform, Benefits Enrollment Network, streamlines access to public
benefit programs, including food stamps and Medicaid, by empowering
community-based organizations to screen and submit applications from
their constituents to state agencies much more quickly and accurately.
The United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta found that integrating benefits
into the screening tool increases collaboration among community
organizations and state agencies, which also benefit from the tracking
and accountability. Nets to Ladders' solution embraces the core
infrastructure of the Connected HHS Framework and is based on
Microsoft's connection-oriented transport service platform for
Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
-- NWN Corp. helps government HHS organizations connect the dots. Every
state and local government faces the same issue: how to weld a
fragmented, often aging tangle of human service systems and processes
into a simple, coherent set of services that meet constituents' needs.
Microsoft Connected HHS Framework makes this aspiration both
achievable and affordable for governments everywhere. NWN relies on
its extensive experience in HHS to help clients create a realistic
road map for achieving connected HHS. NWN solutions are deployed in,
Maryland, Alabama and Washington, D.C.
-- Plexis Healthcare Systems' solution family for benefits administration
provides a highly configurable, rules-based, widely scalable and
modular approach. The solution family, which leverages an SOA
supported by Microsoft SQL Server and .NET, is a true
connection-oriented transport service product within the Medicaid
Information Technology Architecture (MITA) 2.0 guidelines. Plexis
Healthcare Systems provides software solutions to more than 80
commercial healthcare plans, and supports government agencies such as
the Financial Service Center at the U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs in Austin, Texas.
-- Saber Government Solutions, an EDS company, has a rich history of
collaborating with Microsoft to deliver real solutions for customers.

of states are leveraging Saber and Microsoft technology to build
mission-critical solutions.
-- Unisys has a mission to help state governments create a connected
environment across all their HHS organizations to achieve high-quality
healthcare and reduced administrative costs. This mission aligns
closely with the Connected HHS Alliance. Unisys Health PAS, a
Medicaid-management information system designed for Medicaid and
state-run healthcare programs, provides a feature-rich, flexible,
scalable enterprise solution with best-of-breed commercial
off-the-shelf software integrated via a loosely coupled SOA. Internal
and external use of Web services supports Microsoft's connected HHS
environment vision. Health PAS is deployed in West Virginia and is
being implemented in Idaho and Maine.

agencies and organizations through enabling unique identification to

The Connected HHS Framework is informed by existing enterprise architecture concepts and principles documented by the Enterprise Architecture Committee of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers and the Federal Enterprise Architecture project sponsored by the federal Office of Management and Budget. Both initiatives define complementary business and technical dimensions. They also focus on comprehensive specifications of enterprise business processes and performance objectives, and on enterprise technical guidance that emphasizes standards, reuse of common components and an overall architecture that can be implemented in whole or in parts.

Raytheon Delivers 1,000th Tomahawk Block IV Cruise Missile to U.S. Navy
TUCSON, Ariz., June 12, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company achieved a significant production milestone with the delivery of the 1,000th Tomahawk Block IV cruise missile to the U.S. Navy.
"Tomahawk Block IV provides the Navy with an array of enhanced capabilities to support land-based operations in the global war on terror and across the spectrum of warfare," said Capt. Rick McQueen, the U.S. Navy's program manager for the Tomahawk weapon system. "The Navy's receipt of this 1,000th Tomahawk Block IV builds on a legacy of providing the commander with a powerful weapon to shape the battlespace."
Tomahawk Block IV's innovative technologies provide an expanded array of operational capabilities while dramatically reducing acquisition, operations and support costs. Tomahawk Block IV employs a two-way satellite data link that enables a strike controller to flex the missile in flight to preprogrammed alternate targets or redirect it to a new target. This targeting flexibility includes the capability to loiter over the battlefield and await a more critical target.
"The Tomahawk program continues to evolve to provide the U.S. Navy with the capability to project precision firepower across the breadth and depth of the battlespace," said Harry Schulte, vice president of Raytheon's Air Warfare Systems product line. "The delivery of the 1,000th Tomahawk Block IV missile builds on Raytheon's continued leadership in providing the warfighter with innovative systems that set the standard in precision strike capabilities."
Raytheon Company, with 2007 sales of $21.3 billion, is a technology leader specializing in defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world. With a history of innovation spanning 86 years, Raytheon provides state-of-the-art electronics, mission systems integration and other capabilities in the areas of sensing; effects; and command, control, communications and intelligence systems, as well as a broad range of mission support services. With headquarters in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon employs 72,000 people worldwide.
Note to Editors:
The Tomahawk Block IV was first delivered to the fleet in May 2004. Tomahawk Block IV builds on the legacy of the Tomahawk Block III missile that has been used more than 1,900 times in combat. Its combat-proven legacy includes Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

NetSuite Developer Partners Leverage Power of NetSuite Business Operating System to Meet Needs of Manufacturers
LONDON, June 12 /PRNewswire/ --
- Omnify Software, Configure One, SPS Commerce and SuiteCommerce Extend
NetSuite Using NS-BOS to Provide Product Lifecycle Management, Configurators,
EDI Gateway
NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), a leading vendor of on-demand, integrated
business management software suites for the mid-market enterprise and
divisions of large companies, today announced the latest product extensions
to NetSuite built by NetSuite developer partners using the NetSuite Business
Operating System (NS-BOS). These new ISV-built solutions are focused on
meeting the specific needs of manufacturing companies and the availability of
these solutions was timed to coincide with today's unveiling of NetSuite for
Manufacturers (please see separate product news announcement). The NetSuite
ISV partners include Omnify Software, Configure One, SuiteCommerce, and SPS
Commerce. For more information about NS-BOS, please visit
www.netsuite.com/NS-BOS.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20021024/SFTH024LOGO )
"These partners illustrate the power and flexibility of NetSuite's
platform," said Per Jacobsen, NetSuite's Vice President of Product
Management. "Whether building new vertical solutions, or extending,
customizing, and delivering specific industry processes, the NS-BOS
development platform enables our partners to focus their energy on building
their solutions and business, and not on delivery. This helps them to rapidly
expand into increasingly dynamic and vertical markets with best-of-breed
functionality."
In today's dynamic market, companies require solutions designed for their
specific business. At the same time, ISVs and developers are looking to
transition their applications to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to reduce
infrastructure costs and allow customers to take advantage of the numerous
benefits that SaaS applications offer. NS-BOS delivers the SaaS development
platform that addresses these two growing market trends. By building on and
extending the core of NetSuite, NS-BOS increases ISVs speed-to-market. This
is because every vertical application can interact with and leverage the core
ERP / CRM / Ecommerce functionality of NetSuite and related data managed by
the suite. This way, developers can focus on their vertical differentiation
rather than spending time on "horizontal" functionality such as quote or
order management.
Omnify Software, Configure One, SuiteCommerce, and SPS Commerce are a few
of the many NetSuite ISVs and VARs who are taking advantage of the power of
NS-BOS to offer industry-specific solutions that span a range of
applications-from product lifecycle management to configurator-based quoting
and sales. The following are highlights of their most recent NetSuite-based
solutions:
Omnify Software (www.omnifysoft.com) -- Delivers a business-ready Product
Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution that offers visibility into the entire
product development process by providing a single, secure location to manage
the product record including: component data, bill of material, engineering
change, documentation, project, quality/CAPA, training records, and
compliance information.
"Becoming a member of the NetSuite BOS Developer Program bolsters
Omnify's commitment to partnering with complementary technology vendors,"
said David Whitney, vice president of strategic sales for Omnify Software,
based in Andover, Mass. "Integration between Omnify and NetSuite benefits
manufacturing customers by automating the flow of product information between
Omnify and NetSuite to eliminate manual data entry, improve change management
processes and ensure that manufacturing always receives current and accurate
product data."
Configure One (www.configureone.com) -- Designed for manufacturing
companies who produce highly configurable or customized products, such as in
assemble-to-order or engineer-to-order environments. The solution prevents
the selection of incompatible options, enabling a guided-selling process with
images and help links while allowing the dynamic creation of bills of
material based on pre-defined rules.
"Our product and NetSuite complement each other very nicely, and we're
excited about becoming a NS-BOS Developer Partner," said Mike McDonnell, Vice
President of Product Development for Configure One, based in Oak Brook,
Illinois and Essex, England (UK). "Manufacturing companies such as Satcom
Resources can now create configurations and proposals within NetSuite using
our Concept Product Configurator and readily convert the proposals to a
NetSuite sales order once the business is won. In addition, Concept can also
automatically create new items and generate bills of material on-the-fly, all
within NetSuite."
SuiteCommerce (www.suitecommerce.com) -- Delivers an online product
configurator allowing manufacturers to let their customers self-service order
more complex products online. In addition, SuiteCommerce delivers a set of
NS-BOS based advanced Ecommerce capabilities, including product reviews and
integrated Google Analytics.
"By leveraging the NS-BOS platform, we've been able to rapidly build a
broad range of advanced ecommerce applications useful to manufacturers, who
increasingly require a direct web connection to their channels and
customers," said Diego Terra, CEO of SuiteCommerce, based in Miami, Fla.
"Relying upon NS-BOS allows our company to focus on building our business and
not delivery."
SPS Commerce (www.spscommerce.com) -- Offers market-leading B2B
integration & EDI outsourcing services for seamless connections to supply
chain trading partners. NetSuite solutions, including NetSuite for
Manufacturers, are pre-wired for SPS' network of more than 1,200 trading
partner relationships. SPS integrates trading partner information with
NetSuite's order management, fulfillment and promised delivery dates to the
customer. These streamlined communications help manage manufacturing
production flow, providing end-to-end visibility from raw material delivery
to finished goods.
"Manufacturers are looking to streamline their systems while improving
their ability to support and sell products to their customers," said David
Novak, Executive Vice President of Business Development at SPS Commerce. "The
strategic partnership between NetSuite and SPS Commerce has delivered an
integrated on-demand solution that enables manufacturers to meet the complex
and growing requirements of trading partners using NetSuite. This one-system
approach, made possible with NS-BOS, helps make trading partner
communications more accurate, timely and automated."
NS-BOS Momentum
Since its launch in February 2008, NS-BOS has attracted more than 1,000
ISVs and developers, who have created over 60 applications, built on
NetSuite, across 15 vertical application areas. NetSuite Business Operating
System (NS-BOS) delivers a platform for customization and vertical
application creation that includes:
-- Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Infrastructure -- Third parties
developing applications on NS-BOS will host those applications on
NetSuite's multi-tenant, on-demand architecture.
-- Complete Suite -- By including the NetSuite application within the NS-
BOS application development environment, developers can embed the
industry-leading ERP / CRM / Ecommerce suite within their
applications.
-- SuiteFlex -- For development and customization specific to a single
customer or an entire industry using everything from point-and-click
tools to SuiteScript programming language -- based on industry
standard JavaScript -- for the development of new applications that
run within the NetSuite environment.
-- SuiteScript D-Bug -- The first Platform-as-a-Service code debugger
enables real-time code validation and testing against the complete
NetSuite application, enabling faster iterative development.
-- SuiteBundler -- Breakthrough technology which allows for the delivery
of ISV-built vertical solutions to SaaS customers in a packaged,
repeatable manner -- just select and inject -- eliminating time-
consuming, error prone overhead costs of re-coding.

NetSuite Enters SAP's Core Market With New On-Demand Vertical Suite for Manufacturers
LONDON, June 12 /PRNewswire/ --
- NetSuite Expands Lead in Vertical Suites by Leveraging Core Strength In
Wholesale / Distribution to Tackle Demands of Light Manufacturing
NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), a leading vendor of on-demand, integrated
business management software suites for the mid-market enterprise and
divisions of large companies, today announced a new vertical suite for
manufacturing companies. NetSuite for Manufacturers, which includes new
functionality for Assembly, Work Order and Bill of Materials, takes aim at
SAP's core market and seeks to exploit the prolonged delay of SAP's Business
ByDesign product roll-out, providing mid-sized manufacturers with an
integrated on-demand solution they can put to work today.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20021024/SFTH024LOGO )
"NetSuite has been offering vertical suites for the wholesale /
distribution industry for a while with a proven track record," said Bruce
Richardson, Chief Research Officer, AMR Research. "Manufacturers have been
longing for SaaS offerings to build better overall total cost-of-ownership.
Until this release from NetSuite, there haven't been any broad SaaS product
offerings that include financials, CRM, Ecommerce and manufacturing. The
on-demand suite approach-pioneered by NetSuite-could prove to be a major
market accelerator."
Today's new release leverages the core strength of the NetSuite Wholesale
/ Distribution Edition-launched in April 2006-and is a natural progression of
NetSuite's leading role in delivering Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business
suites designed to address the specific requirements of vertical industries.
NetSuite's offering for manufacturing, initially aimed at the light
manufacturing sector, is also the latest example of how NetSuite's SaaS-based
business management technology has evolved to address more complex processes
in industries long dominated by on-premise vendors such as SAP. The company's
rapid move into manufacturing comes at a difficult time for SAP, as they have
struggled to deliver their own on-demand offering, Business ByDesign, to
address customer requirements in their core market. NetSuite for
Manufacturers now gives SAP customers and others an option they can purchase
and deploy without delay. For more information about NetSuite for
Manufacturers, please visit www.netsuite.com/manufacturing.
Manufacturers Have Varying Challenges
Light manufacturing businesses typically overlap with wholesale /
distribution and span a huge spectrum of categories from apparel to furniture
to small electronics. Regardless of which category a light manufacturer is
in, the challenge has always been the management of the bill of materials,
assembly build and work order process for both production orders that add to
general stock levels, as well as special orders built uniquely for one
customer. Software traditionally used by mid-market light manufacturing
companies encompasses dozens of on-premise silo applications-one for
accounting, one for customer relationship management, one for work orders,
one for inventory management, one for warehouse management. The list goes on.
This fragmented approach can add large IT cost, introduce a high rate of
errors throughout the business process, provides little visibility on
available-to-promise inventory, and decrease business efficiency and
accuracy.
Enterprise Power at Lower Total Cost-of-Ownership
NetSuite for Manufacturers provides companies with essential visibility
into the key build processes that light manufacturers need to compete
effectively in the market. Since NetSuite's delivery model is SaaS and all
functionality and data is within one system, the total-cost-of-ownership is
greatly reduced and light manufacturers gain the following benefits:
-- Greater insight into production processes - from inventory, to
assembly, to demand based replenishment;
-- Real-time visibility throughout the entire organization - from sales
to warehouse operations to invoicing;
-- Minimal integration hassle - NetSuite provides one system to manage
the end-to-end business life-cycle;
-- Cost savings - reduced IT costs, reduced labor costs and reduced
errors;
-- Reduced risk - instant information can help reduce time to respond to
change;
-- Stay competitive in the ever competitive global economy for light
manufacturers.
Powerful Functionality Key to Light Manufacturers
NetSuite adds a myriad of important functionality that is key to running
a light manufacturing business.
"Today's launch of NetSuite for Manufacturers validates our strong
commitment to vertical industries by delivering functionality designed to
drive greater efficiencies and competitiveness," said Mini Peiris, NetSuite's
VP of Product Marketing. "NetSuite enables manufacturers to automate complex
business processes without the cost and complexity of cobbling together
multiple business applications, and numerous spreadsheets. As a result,
customers can stop wasting precious resources and start focusing on
increasing customer service levels, cutting costs, and growing their
businesses."
Pricing and Availability
NetSuite for Manufacturers is available now at 600 pounds per month and
60 pounds per user per month.

Alcatel-Lucent Shows How to Transform Communications Networks to Enable Carriers to Deliver a Personalized Experience for CustomersCompany will showcase leading transformation technologies and services at NXTcomm 2008
PARIS, June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced its plans to demonstrate how it is leading the way in enabling the transformation of communications networks at the NXTcomm 2008 trade show, which runs June 16-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Alcatel-Lucent, in booth number 3116 in the South Upper Hall of the convention center, will showcase its technologies, software and services that enable service providers to transform their networks and business - a critical issue as they seek to deliver secure, personalized applications and services to their customers while managing their expenses.
Alcatel-Lucent will showcase its integrated approach for end-to-end transformation, which is based on a comprehensive portfolio of innovative solutions designed to help service providers benefit from new and existing business models that exploit the ability of advanced broadband networks to deliver profitable growth. This transformation will make it possible for service providers to offer their customers a variety of new voice, video, data and multimedia capabilities that can be available on any screen, any where and any time based on the individual customer's personal preference. These solutions are part of Alcatel-Lucent's objective to address the challenges service providers and enterprises face as they address changing end-user expectations and behavior, new business models and market dynamics. The demos and subject matter experts will explain how the technologies, solutions and programs can help carriers transform their networks, services and business.
A key theme of the Alcatel-Lucent booth is how the company's solutions help carriers monetize IP calls/sessions before, during and after the call or session. The goal is to enable service providers to create value from each session by removing the barriers or frictions between domains to create always-on services that grow the top line, drive organizational efficiency and create business value.
Alcatel-Lucent will help service providers capture more intelligence in the network, enabling better overall service to customers and partners and that helps create tighter subscriber and third-party loyalty.
Demonstrations
At NXTcomm, Alcatel-Lucent will highlight its unmatched end-to-end portfolio of technology and services, focusing on technologies and services that deliver a personalized user-centric experience. Among its demonstrations and presentations, Alcatel-Lucent will feature:
In-Building Wireless
This solution provides opportunities for operators to expand their revenue stream as Alcatel-Lucent channel partners. The Unified In-Building Wireless offer can help operators in key vertical segments and markets including hospitals; commercial buildings; public places: mass transit, malls, airports and stadiums; universities; manufacturing / warehouses; and residential buildings.
Geographic Messaging Platform (GMSP) - The demonstration showcases the NXTcomm Eos Award-winning GMSP, which is a next-generation location-driven platform and set of applications that leverage the advanced functionality of today's mobile networks and devices, enabling mobile social networking and mobile marketing applications built on top of the patented platform. The applications deliver content when opted-in users enter a certain location. GMSP was invented by Bell Labs, commercialized within Alcatel-Lucent Ventures, and will become part of the award-winning Messaging Suite in Alcatel-Lucent's applications portfolio.
Targeted Advertising - Applying an end-user advertising scenario, the demonstration will showcase both the network and application features that enable the network to intelligently use subscriber data to push more targeted advertising content to end users. The solution provides a means to deliver the correct ads to the correct viewer at the right time, improving both the number of ads that can be sold and the value of each ad. It also ensures that the ad placement does not disrupt the carrier network and generates additional revenue by selling "user action" data to advertisers. Data could be derived from a single source, such as users clicking on a TV menu to "get additional information", or from multiple sources, such as visiting a web site within a short interval of viewing an ad on TV. The solution enables the management of advertising campaigns that bring specific types of viewers to the advertisers and ensures subscriber anonymity to safeguard consumer trust.
IPTV / Mobile TV - This demonstration shows how a user experiences entertainment across the three screens - TV, mobile, PC, and how content can be shared across those screens whether they're at home or on the go - providing a simple, personal and predictable experience.
Unlimited Mobile TV - Alcatel-Lucent's Interactive Mobile TV solution delivers 3G users personalized content, live and on-demand TV and "made for mobile" TV channels featuring a rich media player, an electronic programming guide (EPG), smart navigation and fast channel changing - as well as video and audio quality optimized for mobile handsets. Users enjoy personalized rich media for interactive, personalized and contextual video services (e.g., voting, quiz, personalized information or purchase) as well as seamless access to associated services (e.g., "one-click purchase" of ring tones, video clips, ring-back tones, and video greetings).
This solution also integrates User Generated Content web services, which can be shared over Mobile TV. In addition to the 3G service, Alcatel-Lucent's Mobile Interactive TV also provides efficient mobile broadcast technologies, such as DVB-H or DVB-SH, in addition to 3G.
Service Focused Transport - A comprehensive portfolio of packet optical and IP networking solutions will be showcasing next generation triple play and mobile services.
Telecom Meets Web 2.0 - A focus on NGN IP Networks, leveraging telecom and web 2.0 that includes a live demo of the Class 5 VoIP/Portal and wireline video telephony and Facebook.
Service Delivery and Assurance - The fast pace communications market demands that providers introduce new blended lifestyle services and applications faster, and with less risk and cost. Alcatel-Lucent's Service Delivery and Assurance solutions streamline real-time creation, charging, and activation of multi-session, personalized services, leverage common inventory and catalogs to create blended end-user services involving components such as presence, payment-type, video applications, and more. Integrated service assurance and customer care ensure quality and make trouble management faster, increasing efficiently and driving down costs.
IMS Converged Communications - This demonstration shows how the Alcatel- Lucent IMS Solution enables operators to expose the information and capabilities of their network to the web and thus efficiently compete with new entrants from this domain. This demonstration also highlights IMS end-to-end integration: how a complex network can be successfully pre-integrated and tested in an external lab. This demo showcases that Alcatel-Lucent IMS Solution enables mobile operators can progressively extend their mobile offer across their entire customer base with PC calling.
Boosting Broadband with IMS and SS7 - This live demonstration of the Alcatel-Lucent 5060 IP Call Server shows how service providers can transform their voice core network to compete more effectively by introducing broadband services in new markets (e.g., xDSL, PacketCable 2.0, WiMAX, Femto), and retire legacy TDM switches while maintaining basic POTS services. Also the Alcatel-Lucent 5074 Signaling Defense Solution enables providers to defend their vital SS7 network against new forms of attack and disruption caused by SMS spam, hackers, and interconnected networks.
Services - A comprehensive services portfolio including network design, integration operation and maintenance, as well as managed networking, managed communications services will be covered in an interactive presentation in the theatre in Alcatel-Lucent's booth.
In addition to the demonstrations, Alcatel-Lucent will also have several speakers at NXTcomm presenting on a range of topics:
