BPL Global's Transformer Monitors Key to Prestigious Edison Award Won by Arizona Public Service

PITTSBURGH, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- BPL Global, Ltd. (BPLG), a smart grid technology company dedicated to leading the transformation of energy and information delivery, announced today that their Serveron(R) Transformer Monitors are an integral part of the Arizona Public Service (APS) Edison Award-winning Transformer Oil Analysis and Notification system (TOAN). APS received the prestigious Edison Award on June 16, 2008 at the Edison Electric Institute's annual conference held in Toronto, Canada for their TOAN system, a landmark system that monitors major power transformers in near-real-time.

Power transformers, which either step-up or step-down the voltage of electricity to enable its transmission and distribution, represent the single largest asset class for generation, transmission and distribution companies other than the power plants themselves. On-site, on-line transformer monitoring is a proven solution enabling electric utilities to manage transformer assets more reliably, operate them with a greater margin of safety and minimize or safely postpone the costs of repairing or replacing these valuable assets. Extending the life of transformers is an important strategy for utilities to sustain reliable energy delivery in the face of lead-times as long as 2 years to replace failed transformers. The cost of purchasing new power transformers can range from about $500,000 to more than $10 million each. The net result is that catastrophic transformer fires may one day be a thing of the past, not only for APS, but for the entire electric industry.

The APS (TOAN) system -- an automated method of monitoring transformer "health" in near-real time -- can make a significant contribution to electric utility reliability and productivity while reducing overall electric utility infrastructure costs by billions of dollars within a decade.

"Arizona Public Service has utilized our on-line transformer monitors to create a significant advancement in power transformer condition assessment and management," said Keith Schaefer, BPLG's Chief Executive Officer. "We congratulate them on winning the industry's highest honor, the Edison Award from EEI, and receiving well-deserved recognition for their commitment to innovation."

In the past APS, like many utilities, has relied on manual sampling of transformer oil at intervals of one to several months. Employee time, cost and data constraints seriously limit the frequency and accuracy of oil sampling and analysis. The old techniques are simply too slow, too labor intensive and, given workforce changes, too impractical to protect APS' large and crucial investment in transmission infrastructure.

The TOAN project created the first automated system in the nation to combine on-line monitoring of transformer dissolved gases with analysis and notification of abnormal conditions. Faults are detected with high confidence using artificial intelligence-based software. TOAN is twice as accurate (greater than 93 percent) as industry-standard diagnostic techniques.

"APS is committed to investing in technologies that benefit our customers, and our TOAN system is at the forefront of this effort," said Don Brandt, APS President and Chief Executive Officer. "We have more than 100 transformer monitors from BPL Global helping protect our major transformers today, and the monitors provide critical transformer health data analyzed by our TOAN software. Our partnership with BPL Global has been a valuable contributor to the success of our TOAN system. The implications of this project are enormous -- both from a reliability and a cost perspective -- for the entire industry."

With TOAN, APS has demonstrated (1) innovation by making a quantum leap in the accuracy standard for monitoring and protecting transformers, (2) leadership by being the first utility to adopt these novel technologies and procedures, and (3) a significant contribution to the electric utility industry's future by improving reliability, increasing productivity and protecting huge capital assets with unprecedented confidence.

In addition to APS, more than 30 other major electric utilities worldwide are committed to new voluntary transformer-monitoring standards to help prevent transformer failures. BPL Global markets its advanced dissolved gas analysis transformer monitoring technology to electric utilities, and other power generation, transmission and distribution organizations in the U.S. and around the world.

AT&T Small Business Customer Links of London Joins Jet SetAT&T Exclusively Business Sweepstakes Winner Receives Complimentary Marquis Jet Card(SM) and Other Big Business Perks That Will Take It to New Heights

SAN ANTONIO, and NEW YORK, June 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Links of London is a small business that is flying high -- literally. AT&T Inc. and Marquis Jet(SM) today announced that Links of London, a dynamic international jewelry brand, is the winner of a 10-hour Marquis Jet Card; fleet by NetJets(R) in the AT&T "Exclusively Business" sweepstakes for small businesses.

Links of London, which has its U.S. headquarters in New York, was one of 5,400 small businesses to enter the sweepstakes, which was conducted to mark the launch of AT&T's Exclusively Business program for wireless small business customers. The AT&T Exclusively Business program provides valuable benefits that are specifically for small businesses, such as exclusive savings and dedicated support.

Andrew Marshall, managing director of Links of London, was presented with a Marquis Jet Card, which gives the company access, with as little as 10-hours notice, to a NetJets Citation V Ultra jet for travel within North America for up to seven people.

"We were very flattered to be chosen as the winner of the AT&T Exclusively Business sweepstakes," Marshall said. "We certainly will put our prize to good use. Beyond New York, Links of London has stores across North America, including Toronto, Las Vegas and San Francisco, and we plan to use the Marquis Jet Card to save valuable time and increase our productivity when we make visits to those properties."

Links of London executives use BlackBerry(R) Curve(TM) smartphones from AT&T to stay connected to important information when away from the office. Among the reasons Links of London chose AT&T as its wireless provider was because of AT&T's broad domestic and international coverage, Marshall said. The ability to access e-mail and take or make a phone call when abroad is particularly important because of the executives' frequent travel between the U.S. and Links of London's global headquarters in the United Kingdom. AT&T has the broadest international wireless footprint of any U.S. carrier, with voice coverage in more than 200 countries and data coverage in more than 145 countries.

"We use our BlackBerry smartphones primarily when traveling to stay in touch with e-mail and respond while we are on the go," Marshall said. "My experience has been that the AT&T coverage is very good both in the U.S. and abroad, and that coupled with our BlackBerry service, they are an incredibly useful resource when we are traveling through several different time zones."

As an AT&T small business customer, Links of London gets benefits that go well beyond industry-leading domestic and international wireless coverage and access to world-class services such as BlackBerry. AT&T small business wireless customers have access to dedicated sales and 24/7 customer care teams and Web portal, as well as small business-specific solutions such as AT&T BusinessTalk(R) and BlackBerry Professional Software.

"Links of London is a great example of an AT&T small business customer that is realizing big business benefits," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Business Marketing and Operations, for AT&T's wireless operation. "AT&T's philosophy is a simple one: provide small business customers with the same dedicated focus we have given the enterprise segment and offer wireless programs that are built specifically for small businesses and backed by world-class sales and support teams that are in place only to serve them. And we're pleased that Links of London is able to enjoy an added benefit from AT&T that is traditionally associated with big businesses -- private air travel -- by virtue of the AT&T Exclusively Business sweepstakes."

Marquis Jet, the leader in private jet cards, provides the convenience, quality and safety of NetJets, the world's premier fractional aircraft ownership program, 25 hours at a time. For winning the AT&T Exclusively Business sweepstakes, Links of London executives will have access to the Citation V Ultra -- one of 14 aircraft types available in NetJets U.S. fractional fleet. NetJets, a Berkshire Hathaway Inc. company, is the worldwide leader in private aviation with over 750 aircraft managed globally through its affiliated companies.

"We are honored to have been selected by AT&T to participate in the Exclusively Business sweepstakes for small businesses," said Ken Austin, executive vice president and chief marketing and business development officer at Marquis Jet. "The Marquis Jet Card is the ultimate efficiency tool for business or personal travelers, allowing you to control your own schedule, save many hours per trip and avoid the stress that is common with commercial travel today. The Marquis Jet Card is the overwhelming choice in the Jet Card space based on the true value we deliver and the safety and service only NetJets can provide."

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- This summer, Verizon Wireless is challenging church choirs from coast to coast to show off their pipes in the company's first nationwide How Sweet The Sound(TM) competition. "We recognize music unites communities and is often a cornerstone element of how people celebrate life," said Mike Lanman, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. "How Sweet The Sound is much more than a singing competition -- it is an opportunity to celebrate the unique ways that music connects people within the community. It is also an opportunity for Verizon Wireless to support the work that churches and other religious organizations do in their communities every day and to give back in a way that will help them expand their ministries."

Verizon Wireless' How Sweet Sound tour will host regional performances in the following U.S. cities:

    -- September 13: St. Louis -- Scottrade Center -- September 15: Atlanta -- Philips Arena -- September 18: New York -- Prudential Center -- September 20: Detroit -- Cobo Arena -- September 23: Philadelphia -- Wachovia Center -- September 26: Washington, D.C. -- Verizon Center -- September 29: Chicago -- United Center -- October 2: Memphis, Tenn. -- FedEx Forum -- October 6: Houston -- Toyota Center -- October 10: Oakland, Calif. -- Oracle Arena -- October 13: Los Angeles -- LA Sports Arena

How Sweet The Sound invites choirs affiliated with a church or other church organization (as defined by the organization's tax-exempt ID number) within one of the 11 regions to enter. There are two categories for entry -- Small/Medium Choirs, consisting of 6 to 35 participants, and Large Choirs, consisting of 36 to 100 participants.

    Entry and Selection Process

Choirs interested in a chance to perform on-stage in their cities must submit an application and a five-minute performance audition video either online at http://www.howsweetthesound.com/ or by mail no later than July 25. Audition videos will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will select up to 16 choirs from each region. The 16 choirs will be posted on http://www.howsweetthesound.com/ where people can vote for their favorite choir in each of the two categories.

The four choirs in each category per region who receive the highest number of votes will be invited to participate on stage at the event in their community. The choirs will compete in front of local celebrity judges, who will then vote to determine the finalist choirs that will be awarded the $10,000 cash prize. There will be two finalists -- one from each category. The two winning choirs from each region will then head to the grand finale to compete against choirs from across the country for the $25,000 prize in November.

Within certain distance limits, charges will be waived to connect off-net buildings to the AboveNet network.

Customers can meet their high-bandwidth, reliability needs by choosing from a complete suite of complementary AboveNet products and services. Customers can have low latency, high-bandwidth connectivity solutions installed cost-effectively. This suite of point-to-point Ethernet offerings can be implemented at 100MB, full 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit speeds. The promotion is available in 12 U.S. metro markets, not including New York or New Jersey.

The promotion offers enterprises a low-risk way to benefit from employing fiber optic connectivity solutions, while working with a premier provider.

Now more customers can take advantage of a scalable, fiber-based network infrastructure focused on the needs of high-bandwidth users, without traditional CO-based architecture, which can degrade latency performance. Customers can leverage these features across AboveNet's significant, major-metro fiber footprint.

"The favorable reaction to this promotion has encouraged us to expand the offer to include off-net building locations. I believe there is no better investment that AboveNet can make than to bring new high-bandwidth customers onto our world-class private network. Extending our network to connect off-net locations is a win-win situation, for us and our customer, allowing us to offer our broad array of high-bandwidth Ethernet solutions to more locations. This promotion can also help customers accelerate their migration to next generation Ethernet solutions," said Bill LaPerch, AboveNet President and CEO.

Rehoboth, Massachusetts Residents to Benefit from Verizon Wireless Network ExpansionInvesting to Stay Ahead of Growing Demand for Wireless Voice, Multimedia and Internet Access

REHOBOTH, Mass., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents in Bristol County, Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site. The new site increases high-speed wireless data coverage and capacity along Route 118, Martin Street, and Cedar Street in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, and the surrounding area.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services like BroadbandAccess and V CAST. Regionally the company has invested nearly $2.2 billion into its New England network, including over $292 million in 2007 alone. As a result of these investments, every Verizon Wireless cell site in New England offers wireless broadband connectivity.

BroadbandAccess offers computer users the nation's most reliable high-speed wireless mobile broadband network, operating at average upload speeds between 500 and 800 kbps, and download speeds between 600 kbps and 1.4 mbps over Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess with EV-DO Revision A network. V CAST brings video clips of TV shows, music on demand and other multimedia services to wireless phones.

Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the first quarter of 2008 as the company added 1.5 million net new customers and, for the fourteenth consecutive quarter, reported the lowest customer turnover (highest customer loyalty) rate in the wireless industry.

The company's 'nation's most reliable wireless network' reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the "can you hear me now" national advertising campaign. Nationally, these test men and women drive nearly 100 specially equipped vehicles almost 1,000,000 miles annually on Interstate, U.S. and state highways as well as major roads and surface streets in high-population areas, based upon U.S. Census counts, to confirm that voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

    About Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless operates the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, serving 67.2 million customers. Voltran WEG Selects Siemens PLM Software to Increase Growth OpportunitiesProvider of Power Transformers Obtains Solid Edge and Teamcenter Solutions to Meet Increasing Demands From Growing Exporting Activity

PLANO, Texas and MEXICO CITY, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that Voltran WEG, a power transformer manufacturer in Latin America and Mexico, has selected Solid Edge(R) software and Teamcenter(R) software as the key solutions to expedite order processing and increase efficiency in its engineering department, and ultimately, its overall production process.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070904/SIEMENSLOGO)

Voltran WEG was created as a result of a 2006 joint venture between Voltran, a Mexican company servicing the power industry since 1980 and WEG, a Brazilian supplier in the same sector. The joint venture has resulted in a significant increase in manufacturing capabilities at the Voltran WEG plant in Tizayuca, Mexico. With combined manufacturing and management resources, Voltran WEG has expanded its reach to service clients from all over the world.

With the emergence of these new business opportunities, the engineering department needed to revamp its operation process and adopt tools to enhance collaboration, expedite processes and enable an overall more efficient system in order to respond faster to new product orders.

"After our company leaders and end-users conducted an in-depth evaluation of technical offering, business value and IT support available, we were convinced that Siemens PLM Software was by far the best available option in the market," said Roberto Alonso, chief of the Engineering Department, Voltran WEG.

Solid Edge offers Voltran WEG users a three-dimensional capacity to develop models and design digital prototypes integrated with the administration of the design, allowing for the sharing of application processes and workshop plans for production. It also offers precision when correcting the dimensions of preliminary designs and to verify pieces do not overlap prior to moving to production during the virtual assembly process.

By using Teamcenter as a single source of knowledge, Voltran WEG can now save time in design reviews and gather and share the necessary information, including all 3D models, in a simpler and faster process. This allows the engineers to do less paperwork and more creative design work.

"Siemens PLM Software develops solutions that enable companies to connect their processes into a cohesive system that enhances efficiency and improves management visibility throughout the product lifecycle. Voltran WEG's decision to acquire our products exemplifies how great solutions backed by an excellent team make the difference in this industry," said Alfredo Trevino, vice president of Operations for Mesoamerica of Siemens PLM Software.

    About Voltran WEG

Voltran WEG, one of the Power and Process Leaders in Mexico, has a customer portfolio that includes: Mexico's Government, Caterpillar, ABB, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Electricite de France, Pemex, Areva, GE Supply, Iberdrola, Toyo Engineering, Nissan, Ford and Procter & Gamble. CVS Caremark and Microsoft Team-up to Help People Manage Their HealthConsumers will be able to track prescription medications and health records online using Microsoft HealthVault.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. and REDMOND, Wash., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- CVS Caremark and Microsoft Corp. announced plans to collaborate to offer consumer health care solutions to help people manage their health and wellness, and control their health information using Microsoft HealthVault.

Through this collaboration, consumers will be able to download a comprehensive list of prescriptions filled at CVS/pharmacy or through CVS Caremark by mail as well as save copies of their health records, including laboratory tests, from visits to MinuteClinic, the retail-based health clinic subsidiary of CVS Caremark, into their individual HealthVault record. It will also be possible to upload personal health data, such as blood pressure or glucometer readings, from HealthVault into CVS Caremark applications for use by pharmacists or nurse practitioners in providing care. These services are expected to be available to consumers beginning in the fall of 2008.

"We believe that tools such as Microsoft HealthVault should better enable consumers to manage their health care information in an environment that is often fragmented and paper-based," said Helena Foulkes, Senior Vice President, Health Services at CVS Caremark. Dot Hill Systems Corp. Updates Guidance for Second Quarter of 2008

CARLSBAD, Calif., June 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dot Hill Systems Corp. announced today that it has updated its earnings guidance for the second quarter of 2008.

For the second quarter of 2008, the company is targeting revenue in the range of $66 to $70 million. This is in line with the revenue guidance the company issued on May 8, 2008. The company has adjusted its targeted second quarter 2008 net loss to a net loss per fully diluted share in the range of $0.12 to $0.16 on a non-GAAP basis which excludes share-based compensation expense, foreign currency gains or losses, severance and restructuring expenses. This compares to the guidance the company issued on May 8, 2008 for a targeted non-GAAP net loss per fully diluted share in the range of $0.07 to $0.10. The company attributes the downward adjustment in its net loss per share guidance primarily to actual versus projected shifts in product and customer mix resulting in lower than expected product margins, higher than expected expenses associated with the ramp of production for its newest Tier-1 OEM customer and increased freight charges.

Additionally, the company is projecting cash and cash equivalents as of June 30, 2008 to be in the range of $61 to $65 million, as compared to cash and cash equivalents of $77.4 million as of March 31, 2008. The decrease in cash is largely attributed to higher than expected working capital requirements associated with the ramp of production for the company's newest Tier-1 OEM customer and projected second quarter 2008 operating losses.

Dot Hill's second quarter 2008 financial results conference call is scheduled to take place on August 6, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. ET.

    About Non-GAAP Financial Measures

This press release contains expected financial results that exclude the effects of a tax charge, and are not in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The company believes that this non-GAAP financial measure provides meaningful supplemental information to both management and investors that is indicative of the company's core operating results and facilitates comparison of operating results across reporting periods. The company used this non-GAAP measure when evaluating its financial results as well as for internal resource management, planning and forecasting purposes. Autodesk Enhances Sustainable Design Capabilities With Acquisitions of Ecotect and Green Building Studio Analysis ToolsAutodesk Completes Acquisition of Assets of Square One Research and Green Building Studio

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., June 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As part of its on-going commitment to support the practice of sustainable design and green building in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industries, Autodesk, Inc. today announced two acquisitions to improve building performance analysis in the building information modeling (BIM) process. Autodesk announced that it has completed the acquisition of substantially all the assets related to the Ecotect software tools for conceptual building performance analysis from both Square One Research Ltd. and Dr. Andrew Marsh. Autodesk also announced that it has completed the acquisition of substantially all the assets of Green Building Studio, Inc., a provider of web-based whole building energy, water and carbon-emission analysis software. Terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

"Buildings are a leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, so to combat climate change it is critical for the building industry to rapidly adopt sustainable design practices that will lead to buildings which are appreciably more efficient and eventually carbon neutral," said Jay Bhatt, senior vice president, Autodesk AEC solutions. "The addition of these tools to our technology portfolio will help make it easier for architects, engineers and designers to understand the impact of their design decisions on building performance earlier in the design process so they can optimize for reduced environmental impact."

The acquisitions of Ecotect and the Green Building Studio assets will support Autodesk's vision to deliver software that enables architects and engineers to design more sustainable projects. With improved building performance analysis capabilities, Autodesk will be uniquely positioned to offer a comprehensive suite of software solutions for sustainable design and analysis, enabling a BIM process that can facilitate cost-effective design and delivery of high-performing, resource-efficient buildings and infrastructure.

Square One Research, Ltd. and Dr. Andrew Marsh, creator of the Ecotect environmental design and analysis tools, are based in Isle of Man. The Ecotect tools can measure how fundamental criteria, such as solar, thermal, shading, lighting, and airflow, will affect building performance in the conceptual and detailed phases of design. Their capability to forecast building performance over time better equips architects and engineers to deliver more energy efficient and sustainable building designs.

"Square One Research and Autodesk share a commitment to using technology to make the design and construction of sustainable, high-performance buildings easier and more efficient," said Dr. Andrew J. Marsh, Co-Founder and Head of Research & Development, Square One Research. "We are pleased to join Autodesk and look forward to helping develop and deliver simple and effective building performance analysis to architects and engineers around the world."

The Autodesk Green Building Studio analysis tools, now available at http://www.autodesk.com/greenbuildingstudio, provide improved design insight through whole building energy, water and carbon-emission analysis, helping architects and designers to maximize building economic and environmental performance. The tools are compatible with Autodesk design software as well as software from other industry providers through the Green Building XML (gbXML) schema and can now be directly accessed from within the Revit platform for BIM with a new plug-in now available for download. Green Building Studio Inc. launched the Green Building Studio web service in 2004.
