Verizon Wireless Continues Rollout of Wireless Broadband Network in Western and Central IowaHigh-Speed Network Gives Verizon Wireless Customers Access to Fast Wireless Internet, E-mail, Mobile Music, Videos, and More

SIOUX CITY, Iowa, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless announced today that it has expanded the national rollout of its high-speed wireless data network to Sioux City and portions of western and central Iowa.

Coverage in the Sioux City area extends north to Hinton, south to Salix, east to Correctionville, and west to South Sioux City, Neb. Other communities covered in this network rollout are Le Mars, Denison, Carroll, Harlan, Atlantic, Fort Dodge, and Webster City. In addition the high-speed network is now available in communities where Verizon Wireless has service in the counties of Adair, Audubon, Cass, Guthrie, Madison, Crawford, Harrison, Monona, Shelby, Woodbury, Calhoun, Carroll, Greene, Ida, Sac, Cherokee, Plymouth, Hamilton, Humboldt, Webster, and Wright.

"These Iowa communities represent vital markets with dynamic, tech-savvy business people, residents and students who want to stay connected," said Nancy B. Clark, president -- Great Plains region, Verizon Wireless. "The launch of our broadband network to greater portions of Iowa provides our customers with access to the very latest wireless technology."

With the wireless broadband network, Verizon Wireless customers in the area now enjoy two prime services:

-- BroadbandAccess, the enhanced high-speed wireless service that equips Verizon Wireless' business customers with a truly untethered mobile office experience, enabling them to wirelessly access their calendars, the Internet, e-mail and critical business information residing behind their companies' firewalls; and

-- V CAST, a consumer-oriented multimedia service that gives customers access to the most comprehensive selection of downloadable music, high-quality videos and the coolest 3D games found anywhere.

    BroadbandAccess

Based on Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) network technology, BroadbandAccess provides mobile workers with the ability to access their corporate information as if they were attached to this data via a high-speed wired connection but with the freedom of true mobility. Developed with a range of users in mind, the service enables large enterprises, small- to medium-sized businesses and mobile professionals to conduct business anytime, anywhere in the BroadbandAccess coverage area via a secure, true high-speed data connection.

With BroadbandAccess, business customers, residents and visitors to these areas of Iowa can expect average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. That means they can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint(R) presentation or a large PDF file -- in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds.

"Our enhanced BroadbandAccess service gives our customers three key advantages in wireless communication -- speed, mobility and security," Clark said. "With these advantages comes an increase in productivity and bottom-line business benefits."

    V CAST: Video and Music

Verizon Wireless' wireless broadband network also enables its V CAST multimedia services, which offer customers the ability to download full-song tracks, play cutting-edge 3D games and stream video clips straight to their handsets with top transmission speeds. With content updated daily, customers can watch dozens of on demand videos, including breaking news, weather updates, sports highlights, and the hottest entertainment clips.

    Investment

This multi-million dollar data network expansion includes the installation of high-tech wireless hardware and software in wireless transmission sites throughout western and central Iowa. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed -- more than $5.5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $202 million of this investment was spent in Iowa over the past seven years on network improvements.

Verizon Wireless was the first national wireless provider to commercially launch a high-speed wireless broadband network in the United States. Previously the company announced high-speed service in Council Bluffs, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque, Iowa City, and Davenport.

Verizon Wireless Turns on 5,500 Square Miles of Network for South Georgians On the GoCompany's Largest Expansion in Georgia History Launches High-Speed Network in Valdosta and Waycross Areas

ALPHARETTA, Ga., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless is widening its wireless "fast lane" to cover the Valdosta and Waycross areas. After investing over $90 million across the state this year to date, the company has turned on 100 new cell towers since New Year's Eve 2007, to bring the Valdosta and Waycross markets onto the nation's most reliable wireless network. Verizon Wireless also plans to open 13 new stores and kiosks across the area including the company's direct retail locations, exclusive authorized dealers and national retailers, which will all offer the full array of Verizon Wireless devices, accessories and services. The company will employ over 100 full-time employees across the two markets.

Starting today, 5,500 square miles of network expansion now covers residents from the eastern edge of Thomas County, northeast through Bacon County, southeast through Coffee and Camden Counties, including all major thoroughfares, towns and cities in between. Customers of Verizon Wireless in these areas now have access to the latest high-speed business and entertainment services offered on their phones, laptop computers and other wireless devices.

With the enhanced network, South Georgians now have access to Verizon Wireless' two prime services: BroadbandAccess and V CAST. With BroadbandAccess, customers can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint(R) presentation or a large PDF file -- in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds. The company's V CAST multimedia services offer customers the ability to download full-song tracks, play cutting-edge 3D games and stream video clips straight to their phones.

"We are very excited to introduce the people of south Georgia to the Verizon Wireless experience of unparalleled products and services combined with unbeatable customer service," said Jeff Mango, president -- Georgia/Alabama region, Verizon Wireless. "A major reason our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us is because we offer the nation's most reliable wireless network, and Georgians' expectations are no exception. The demand for Verizon Wireless in south Georgia is now being met."

The company is planning ribbon cutting ceremonies officially opening the first stores in the area, in Waycross and Valdosta, on August 13. The new stores' cutting-edge evolutionary design offer consumers a high-tech and hands-on experience with wireless voice, data, music and video services. The store features a bright new design and integrates a number of innovative systems and operational enhancements designed to streamline the sales process and enhance the customer experience. Additional information about grand opening events coming soon.

"Providing a modern and interactive approach to our retail environment will enhance our customers' experience far beyond the initial purchase of a phone and accessories and will give them the experience they have come to expect from Verizon Wireless," said Mango.

To date in 2008, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $90 million in the expansion and enhancement of its network in Georgia. The company has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed -- $5.5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. Other examples of company leadership include being first to offer nationwide plans with unlimited calling and the only provider to offer a 30-day network Test Drive pledge that pays for calls if a customer isn't satisfied and switches to another carrier.

Verizon Wireless' reputation as the nation's most reliable wireless network is supported by industry-leading redundancy and maintenance measures. This has proven particularly valuable during natural disasters and other emergencies across the country. Standard Verizon Wireless network-reliability features include battery back-up power at all facilities as well as generators installed at all switching facilities and many cell site locations.

Digital Ally, Inc. to Report Ninth Consecutive Quarter of Record RevenuesCompany Announces Authorization of Stock Repurchase Plan

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Digital Ally, Inc. , which develops, manufactures and markets advanced video surveillance products for law enforcement, homeland security and commercial security applications, today announced that it expects to report its operating results for the second quarter of 2008 towards the end of July.

"We expect to report that the Company achieved its ninth consecutive quarter of record revenues during the quarter that ends today," stated Stanton E. Ross, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Ally, Inc. "The Company began shipping its advanced digital surveillance products to customers in March 2006, and revenues in each quarter since that time have exceeded the revenues recorded in the preceding quarter. While our growth to date has been driven primarily by the DVM-500 In-Car Digital Video Rearview Mirror System's rapid increase in its share of the market for in-car video systems within the domestic and international law enforcement community, we expect new products and new markets to play an expanding role in our future sales gains. An increasing number of law enforcement agencies are testing our Digital Video Flashlight, and our recently announced DVM-250 Pro will be the first in a series of professional-quality event recorders being developed for the transportation industry."

"As we have stated before, management expects Digital Ally's revenues for the year ending December 31, 2008 to increase over 100% from last year, to approximately $40 million, and operating margins for the full year should at least approximate the 29% reported in the first quarter of 2008," continued Ross. "While it is too early to issue any specific guidance for 2009, we are optimistic that next year will again witness strong growth in sales and earnings for the Company."

The Company also announced that its Board of Directors has approved a program that authorizes the repurchase of up to $10 million of the Company's common stock in the open market, or in privately negotiated transactions, through July 1, 2010. The repurchases, if and when made, will be subject to market conditions, applicable rules of the Securities and Exchange Commission and other factors. Purchases may be commenced, suspended or discontinued at any time. The repurchase program will be funded using a portion of available cash and cash equivalent balances, along with "free" cash flows being generated from operations

"We are currently earning interest on our growing cash balances at an annualized rate of less than 2%. Meanwhile, our Company's after-tax net income during the first quarter of 2008 was equivalent to an annualized return on December 31, 2007 shareholders' equity of more than 73%. From a long-term perspective, we believe the investment of some of our cash in DGLY common stock when we deem it to be undervalued represents a prudent and attractive alternative to the currently low interest rates that we are earning on our cash equivalent investments," concluded Ross.

As of June 29, 2008, Digital Ally, Inc. had 15,646,243 shares of common stock outstanding.

DOHA Securities Market Boosts IT Flexibility and Performance With TIBCO SoftwareLeading Middle East Securities Exchange Increases Transaction Processing Tenfold and Ensures Delivery of High-Quality Services with SOA

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TIBCO Software Inc. today announced the successful enterprise-wide deployment of the first composite application based on TIBCO's SOA software at Qatar-based Doha Securities Market (DSM). This first application provides DSM investors a portal with a single, personalised access point to information and services for increased transparency.

"Effective use of advanced IT infrastructure has long been a key component of DSM's IT strategy, and the implementation of an Enterprise Portal supported by TIBCO's SOA infrastructure is a logical progression," said Mohsin Mujtaba, consultant, Markets Integration and Technology at DSM. "We are in a unique position in the regional securities market, and TIBCO's technology allows us to provide high-quality exchange services and manage high volumes. The use of web services through the portal allowed us to handle 10 times more transactions in the clearing settlement and depository system during a recent GCC-wide listing. We are providing a real-time streaming stock quote service to our end-users through the web, with unrivalled speed and delivery in the region."

With TIBCO software, DSM is able to minimise risk and improve productivity by automating complex business processes and procedures to help ensure the execution of transactions with greater speed and accuracy. The recent deployment delivers an infrastructure that supports DSM's need to achieve straight-through processing. Often a mix of processes and applications impedes efficiency. TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks(TM), TIBCO PortalBuilder(TM) and TIBCO Enterprise Messaging(TM) software make it faster and easier for DSM to realise the benefits of integrated applications and reusable services in a service-oriented environment. DSM can easily add, configure or modify composite applications based on the changing needs of their customers.

DSM required a web-based, enterprise-wide portal solution to support an environment for business-to-business, business-to-customer, business-to-employee and business-to-government activities. Using TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks and TIBCO PortalBuilder, DSM seamlessly integrated its back-end infrastructure applications including Electronic Trading Platform & C/SDR systems, with its front-end transaction systems to create a personalised e-Marketplace with multiple channels. This new portal forms the basis for delivering e-Commerce services and products to its users. DSM also provides easy access to brokers and banks with virtual transaction and settlements services, live stock quotes, market trends and analytics.

"Any factor that favourably differentiates one company from another is vital to promoting customer loyalty and long-term success," said Fabio Pulidori, senior vice president for EMEA at TIBCO. "TIBCO worked closely with DSM to help support its rapid growth and change with SOA. The result was increased business performance and agility from the automation of business processes, simplified access to information, and the ability to more quickly implement and change applications."

CCID Consulting: Constructing New Generation Operation Support Systems

BEIJING, June 30 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- CCID Consulting, China's leading research, consulting and IT outsourcing service provider, and the first Chinese consulting firm listed in Hong Kong (Hong Kong: 8235.HK), recently released its article on constructing new generation operation support systems.

On June 24, 2008, CCID Consulting hosted the 2008 Summit Forum on China's Telecom Operations New Management in Beijing. This forum attracts government officials, experts and scholars, carrier representatives, and major manufacturers, such as AsiaInfo, Amdocs, USTC E-business Technology, IBM, Bright Oceans Corporation and ZTEsoft. The theme of the conference was constructing new generation operation support systems, and the background of the conference was convergence, full service operations and 3G era. CCID Consulting released its Research Report on China's Telecom Operation Support System, which reviews and forecasts the road of China's telecom operation management system.

    I. Full Services Operating Challenges to Operation Support System

Because of networks' increasing complexity, businesses' increasing diversity and user numbers' rapid growth, the major carriers have strengthened their investment to operation support systems since 2002. With gradual improvement of construction management and planning level, carriers have started to systematically plan and construct operation support systems, and telecom carriers' inner has improved cognition of operation support system's importance. By the end of 2007, the size of China's telecom operation support system has reached 6.37 billion, among which, the market share of BSS systems is 53.6%, the market share of OSS systems is 29.8% and the market share of MSS is 16.6%.

Figure 1. Size and Growth Rate of China's Operation Support System Market, 2004-2007

With carriers' restructuring nearing completion in 2008, China's telecom operation has entered its full service era. Full service operations will break through the existing telecom operation competition pattern, and the competition will heat up. It is important for carriers to now integrate fixed network and mobiles.

As for existing operation support system, after many years' investment, carriers have gradually improved the support capability of existing business, formed the operation support system which is suitable for their business characteristics, business process, network structure, and cultivated operation support system suppliers who could grasp carriers' demands in the fields of accounting and network management.

China Telecom China Telecom's business support system businesses realizes centralized processing and the support of telecom's existing businesses China Mobile China Mobile's support system considers BOSS its core, which realizes the supports to centralized mobile voice business and mobile data service. China Unicom China Unicom's support system realizes centralized processing and the support to existing integrated services (including integrated C network, G network, VOIP, toll, data link, Internet) China Netcom China Netcom's support system has completed centralized processing and support to existing integrated businesses China Railcom China Railcom's support system is center construction, which considers TBSS its core and realizes the support to existing businesses Source: CCID Consulting, June 2008

Traditional mobile carriers and fixed network carriers have different demands for support systems. Mobile carriers emphasize accounting real-time, users' credit monitor and partners' management. Fixed network carriers are emphasized in process's automatic management and combined business marketing. Thus, the carriers' existing operation support system emphasis are different, and carriers face different requirements and challenges in the evolution of full service support systems.

Not only carriers, but also operation support system providers face the questions on how to realize the convergence of different operation support systems after restructuring and how to satisfy fixed network demands and mobile service demands in an integrated network.

II. Full Service Support System Construction's Effect to System Providers

CCID Consulting's data shows that the size of China's OSS system market in 2007 reached 1.898 billion Yuan. The major providers are Bright Ocean Corporation, MetarNet and Datang Software. The size of BSS market reaches 3.414 billion Yuan. The market share of AsiaInfo and Amdocs is over 50%, and the market shares of other manufacturers such as ZTEsoft and Linkage are growing rapidly.

Figure 3. Brand Structure of China's OSS Market in 2007 http://www.ccidconsulting.com/upload/13312.jpg Source: CCID Consulting, June 2008 Figure 4. Brand Structure of China's BSS Market in 2007 http://www.ccidconsulting.com/upload/13314.jpg Source: CCID Consulting, June 2008

Because China's major operation support system providers only focus on certain parts of the system or are only familiar with single network structures and characteristics, they don't have successful experience in the aspect of full service support system construction. Because of the full service support system, existing system providers are in the same score, which is beneficial to improve their business structure, enlarge their influence, and improve their industrial position. Currently, major manufacturers such as AsiaInfo and Amdocs could provide products which could support fixed network and mobile services.

M&As are a common occurrence in the operation support system area recently. In early 2007, Amdocs acquired SigValue, an accounting, customer relationship management, and service control platform provider with $54 million. In June 2007, Ericsson acquired LHS, a Germany accounting enterprise with 0.31 billion Eurodollars, which enables Ericsson to have comprehensive accounting and billing solutions. In early 2008, Oracle acquired BEA, by which Oracle owns full set products from basic software and database middleware to business application software (CRM/Billing), promoting competitiveness greatly in the BOSS field. Obviously, the operation support system industry is trying to provide integrated full business operation support solutions.

III. Road to Full Business Support Systems

Different operators will encounter different problems towards full business support systems as each operator has different operation support systems due to different business demands, network features, construction ideas and system frameworks. For example, fixed network operators have to improve abilities such as system marketing, channel management, partner management, signaling control, real time billing, and real time service opening to support full business. On the other hand, mobile network operators should enhance abilities such as flow management, comprehensive business processing, composite business supporting, and individualized business supporting.

However, operators need time to establish a successful full business support system. In the construction of new support systems, operators should pay more attention to system modeling, business supporting, system functional emphasis and other problems.

CCID Consulting believes that new China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom should consider comprehensively on business development, user information, convergence business demand, and system construction risks when building new operation support systems. CCID Consulting believes foreground system integration is the first step to provide uniform experiences to users. Then convergence will go to background systems to realize full business support. Finally, management flow will be integrated to support full business support.

Metro Police Department in Kansas Selects ICOP for Fleet Deployment of Digital In-Car Video

LENEXA, Kan., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ICOP Digital, Inc. , an industry-leading company engaged in advancing digital surveillance solutions, today announced that a metropolitan police department in Kansas has awarded ICOP a 12-month contract to begin equipping its patrol fleet with ICOP Model 20/20(R)-W digital in-car video systems.

Pursuant to an initial purchase order valued at approximately $76,000, the Company has shipped ICOP Model 20/20-W's to the department for immediate installation, and plans to equip the rest of the department's 180-car patrol fleet as funding is secured by the agency.

This important customer win for ICOP followed a competitive bidding process that began in the fall of 2007 and factored, among other considerations, comparative system features and functionality, customer service and support, and officer feedback collected in field trials conducted by the department. Thirty-four vendors originally were invited to participate in the original Request for Proposal. The ICOP Model 20/20-W was chosen due to "ease of installation, less drain on car batteries, and lowest proposed cost along with their qualifications, competence and capacity to provide the most beneficial solution for the police department."

According to Dave Owen, ICOP Chairman and CEO, "Thanks to ICOP's determination to deliver only high performance, superior quality digital surveillance products, backed by unparalleled customer service and attention, our Company is being rewarded with hard won major new customer wins. When viewed cumulatively, these new fleet-wide deployments represent pronounced exponential sales potential for ICOP, helping to fuel our year-end growth expectations. It is also important to note that we continue to see Requests for Proposals being issued by an increasing number of mid- to large-sized agencies -- a relatively new industry trend that has gained considerably since mid- to late-2007. Moreover, we are very pleased to find that many of these newly issued RFP's are being written to product specifications found only in the ICOP Model 20/20-W."

Rhapsody Launches 'Music Without Limits' Initiative Across Web, Social Networks and MobileNew Rhapsody MP3 Store Opens Virtual Doors with 100,000 Album GiveawayRhapsody to Power Full-Song Playback and MP3 Sales for iLike, MTV Networks' Music Group Sites and Yahoo!Rhapsody and Verizon Wireless Launch Much Anticipated Service

SEATTLE, June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Rhapsody(R), the leading digital music service from RealNetworks(R), Inc. and MTV Networks, today launched its "Music Without Limits" initiative. This strategy is designed to turbocharge the digital music industry in three ways, by:

    -- Accelerating the move away from proprietary Digital Rights Formats by making music from all major labels available in the DRM-free and interoperable MP3 format;

    -- Empowering music fans to conveniently stream full-length songs, and buy MP3s, anywhere they want including the most popular music sites and social networks on the Web;

-- Integrating digital music directly with mobile phones through a deep partnership between Rhapsody and Verizon Wireless.

"Until now, legal digital music has suffered from severe limitations on where consumers could buy it and how they could use it," said Rob Glaser, chairman and CEO of RealNetworks. "'Music Without Limits,' fixes those problems and will make digital music easier and more valuable for consumers. Rhapsody is proud to be partnering with some of the most innovative companies of our time, including: iLike, Yahoo!, MTV Networks, and Verizon Wireless, to connect consumers with digital music wherever they are and however they want it."

New MP3 Store with Full-Length Song Playback

Beginning today, consumers can purchase MP3 music from Rhapsody and its partners that is free of the digital rights management (DRM) software that restricts how and where people can play their music. Any song or album purchased at http://www.rhapsody.com/mp3 can be played on any MP3 player, even an Apple iPod.

Visitors to the Rhapsody MP3 Store can enjoy a complete discovery experience by listening to full-length songs instead of the 30-second samples found on other sites. And purchased tracks and albums can be seamlessly downloaded into Rhapsody, RealPlayer or iTunes.

The Rhapsody MP3 catalogue will include more than 5 million songs from all four major music labels -- Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and EMI -- and an extensive number of independent labels. The Rhapsody MP3 Store places a strong emphasis on the digital album with merchandising centers for "new album releases," "old favorites," and "who's on tour." Most albums will sell for $9.99 and tracks for $.99.

Leveraging the marketing power of Rhapsody's relationship with MTV Networks, Rhapsody is launching today a "Music Without Limits" advertising campaign that includes broadcast, online and print advertising. Rhapsody anticipates using media worth more than $50 Million in the next year and worth more than $15 million in the third quarter alone. As part of this campaign, Rhapsody is giving away a free album to the first 100,000 people who sign up for the new store until July 4th. See separate press release on the Rhapsody promotion for more details or http://offer.rhapsody.com/mp3/promo/album.

Sample and Purchase Music on Most Popular Music Sites and Social Networks

Because many consumers would prefer to sample and purchase music directly where it is discovered, Rhapsody has joined forces with some of the most important and influential music companies on the Web, including iLike, Yahoo! and MTV Networks to enhance people's listening experience and give them the ability to conveniently purchase the music they've just discovered.

Beginning in the weeks ahead, consumers will be able to enjoy full-song playback (up to 25 songs per month per person) whether they are on Yahoo! Music or MTV.com, CMT.com or VH1.com, and they will have the ability to seamlessly go from playing a song on those sites to purchasing a DRM-free version of that music.

"MTV.com, VH1.com and CMT.com are destinations for some 25 million music fans every month who are seeking the latest music and music news across a range of genres, from pop to hip-hop, alternative to rock and country," said Courtney Holt, executive vice president of digital music and media for MTV Networks' Music Group. "With the Rhapsody MP3 Store, we're giving our audience the means to load up on all the music they love while they're on our sites -- yet another way in which we're weaving Rhapsody into the fabric of all of our programming across all of our screens."

"Yahoo! Music has a long history of supporting scalable solutions that provide music consumers with what they want: the ability to play their music on any portable device," said Michael Spiegelman, senior director of music, Yahoo! "This partnership accomplishes just that by putting Rhapsody's MP3 store in front of Yahoo! Music's 20 million monthly users."

Rhapsody and iLike, the leading social music discovery service, have created a new model that will monetize music consumption on the top social networks for labels and artists. To give iLike's enormous audience a taste of the popular Rhapsody Unlimited subscription service, Rhapsody will power free, full-song playback across iLike.com and iLike's leading music applications on the Web's most popular social platforms, including: Facebook(R), MySpace, hi5, Orkut, and Bebo. Full-song streaming will be available for free to iLike users until a monthly threshold of 25 plays is reached, at which time iLike users can choose to sign up for a Rhapsody account or enjoy 30 second song samples until the end of the month.

Artists and labels will be paid royalties each time their music is played via Rhapsody's existing agreements. This will be the first widespread implementation of a scalable model to monetize the enormous potential for music consumption across social networks. iLike's more than 28 million registered users will enjoy free full-length song playback. Additionally, Rhapsody's MP3 store will also be added as an option to the iLike "buy" button.

"With this announcement, iLike is expanding from being the leading social music discovery service to becoming a powerful social music consumption solution," said Ali Partovi CEO of iLike. "In collaboration with Rhapsody, we're empowering artists and labels to make money every time their music is played on iLike and across the Web's major social networks."

    Music Wherever You Are

Rhapsody and Verizon Wireless today announced the availability of their much anticipated joint service, V CAST Music with Rhapsody, that gives customers the benefits of unlimited access to music on a growing number of V CAST enabled mobile handsets that support subscriptions.

Verizon Wireless customers -- subscribers to the unlimited V CAST Music with Rhapsody service or not -- can purchase music directly from their phones and have the songs delivered over the air to their handsets. Unlike any other mobile music service, any tracks purchased over the air will be also downloaded -- in DRM-free MP3 format -- to the customer's PC.

"The Verizon Wireless partnership with Rhapsody brings an incredible cutting-edge service to American music fans," said John Harrobin, senior vice president of digital media and marketing for Verizon. "Whether you want your music over-the-air directly to your handset, direct to your PC and side-load DRM-Free MP3s to your phone, or access unlimited songs for about the price of a CD through our new subscription service, the clear choice is V CAST Music with Rhapsody." Please see Verizon Wireless news release for additional details.

Rhapsody delivers more than five million songs a day to music lovers through more consumer touch points than any other service. Through partnerships with industry leaders like TiVo, Philips, SanDisk, Logitech and Sonos, Rhapsody has created a complete digital music experience on the PC, throughout the home and on the go. Rhapsody offers consumers unlimited access to millions of songs, professionally programmed music channels and exclusive content from MTV Networks' premier MTV, VH1 and CMT music brands.

Silicon Image Introduces New Generation of Port Processors With Unique Features for DTV ApplicationsNew Devices Dramatically Accelerate HDMI Port Switching in DTVs To Under One Second and Offer HD Mobile Device Connectivity Through InstaPort and MHL Technologies

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. , a leader in semiconductors and intellectual property for the secure storage, distribution and presentation of high-definition content, today introduced a new generation of port processors, the Silicon Image SiI9285 and SiI9287 devices, incorporating Silicon Image's InstaPort(TM) and MHL(TM) technologies.

Silicon Image believes port processors are the natural evolution of its HDMI(TM) receiver products by providing new connectivity features for the DTV with minimal additional software required of the DTV's main processor. The SiI9287 port processor supports InstaPort technology to dramatically reduce switching times between HDMI source devices such as digital video recorders (DVRs), Blu-Ray players, game consoles and set-top boxes (STBs). Previous-generation HDMI switching solutions often required long delays -- usually up to four to seven seconds. Silicon Image's 9287 port processors with InstaPort technology can reduce HDMI switching times to under a second. With the number of HDMI source devices growing, television manufacturers understand that today's consumers want seamless and instantaneous switching between devices.

The SiI9285 and SiI9287 port processors also support Silicon Image's MHL technology, a low-pin-count serial link technology that enables mobile devices such as cameras, mobile phones and portable media devices to connect and display standard and high-definition content to DTVs.

"High definition mobile and broadband entertainment devices of all kinds continue to emerge and consumers want more ways to connect these devices," said Lew Paceley, DTV marketing director at Silicon Image. "Consumers expect to access content on these new devices as fast as they can change channels on their DTVs and would like the flexibility to transfer their multimedia and high-definition content from their mobile to their HDTV device. Silicon Image's InstaPort and MHL technologies make this possible."

Silicon Image's new port processor family will be sampling in July to global manufacturers. More information on the company's DTV solutions can be found at http://www.siliconimage.com/.

National Semiconductor Enters Photovoltaic Market With Technology That Maximizes Solar Energy ProductionNational's SolarMagic Technology Enables Today's Solar Technology to Extract Significantly More Energy in Variable Light Conditions; Customer Field Trials Begin

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Building on its leadership in power management and energy-efficient products, National Semiconductor Corp. today announced that it has entered the photovoltaic market with new technology designed to increase the overall energy output of solar electric power generating systems. National's SolarMagic(TM) technology extracts the maximum power efficiency of each photovoltaic panel, even when some panels in the array are compromised by shading, debris or inherent panel-to-panel mismatch.

    (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080630/AQM048)

Today's solar installations are disproportionately impacted by non-uniformities, caused by shading, panel mismatches or dirt accumulation. For example, a small amount of shading in the array can cut the energy harvest of a system in half. This significantly limits the energy output, design and location of typical residential solar installations. Shading conditions can even invalidate local utility and governmental incentives, making certain installations cost-prohibitive. National's SolarMagic technology recoups up to 50 percent of the lost energy thereby minimizing the economic impact of shading and other real-world conditions.

"National's entry into the photovoltaic market is a natural extension of our focus on energy efficient systems," said Brian L. Halla, National's chairman and CEO. "Our technologists solved this real-world problem and are enabling consumers to produce more energy under adverse conditions and reduce the payback time of their investment with an environmentally friendly source of power."

SolarMagic technology is a per-panel electronics solution that maximizes power output of multi-panel installations. It is compatible with today's solar architectures regardless of the underlying solar cell technology.

National has entered field trials with its SolarMagic technology. REgrid Power, Inc., one of the largest solar installers in California, has begun system testing of National's SolarMagic technology.

"We are impressed with National's SolarMagic technology in our field trials and have seen a significant performance improvement in our solar installation," said Tom McCalmont, president and chief executive officer of REgrid Power, Inc. and founder and executive chairman of SolarTech, a Silicon Valley consortium. "We have observed energy output improvements of up to 44 percent during shaded conditions and 12 percent overall versus the same system running without SolarMagic technology."

Several additional solar companies are slated to join the field trials over the next several months, and National will expand field trials to include installers in other countries with high adoption rates of solar. Later this year, National plans to introduce SolarMagic products for solar installers and system providers to include in their installations. For more information, please visit http://www.national.com/solarmagic.

China Fire Joins Russell 3000 Index and Russell Microcap Index

BEIJING, June 30 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- China Fire & Security Group, Inc. ("China Fire" or "the Company"), a leading industrial fire protection product and solution provider in China, announced today that its common stock has been added to Russell 3000 Index and Russell Microcap Index when Russell Investments reconstituted its indexes on June 27, 2008.

The Russell family of U.S. indexes is designed to be a comprehensive representation of the investable U.S. equity market. These indexes are value-weighted and include only common stocks belonging to corporations incorporated in the United States and its territories. The Russell 3000 Index measures the performance of the 3,000 largest U.S. companies based on total market capitalization, which represents approximately 98% of the investable U.S. equity market and will remain in place for one year. Russell Microcap Index measures performance of the microcap segment, representing less than 3% of the U.S. equity market.

Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for investment strategies. These investment tools originated from Russell's multi-manager investment business in the early 1980s when the company saw the need for a more objective, market-driven set of benchmarks in order to evaluate outside investment managers. Trading activities of asset managers or funds are influenced by index component changes. As a result, being added to or deleted from the Russell Indexes, as well as variations in the weightings in the indexes, affect the market demand for the stocks of the component companies.

"We are very pleased to be included in the Russell 3000 and Microcap Indexes in the latest reconstitution. Our inclusion in the Russell Indexes will expand our visibility to the investment community as we continue to grow in the future," commented Mr. Brian Lin, Chief Executive Officer of China Fire.

WaferGen's SmartChip(TM) Real-Time PCR System to Begin Alpha Testing at University of Pittsburgh Medical SchoolCompany Sends Final Alpha System and Key Oncology Gene Panel Assays to Collaborators at University of Pittsburgh Medical School

FREMONT, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WaferGen Biosystems, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: WGBS) , a leading developer of state-of-the-art gene expression, genotyping, cell biology and stem cell research systems, today announced that it has shipped the alpha version of its SmartChip(TM) Real-Time PCR System, as well as proprietary oncology gene panel assays to be used with the system, to the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. This milestone will allow researchers at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School to initiate the alpha testing program for the system and panels as part of the group's alpha testing and research collaboration with WaferGen. The SmartChip Real-Time PCR System is designed as the first whole genome, high throughput gene expression real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) platform and promises to deliver significant speed and cost advantages to researchers in the gene expression and genotyping markets.

The SmartChip Real-Time PCR System has the capacity to conduct 30,000 assays on a single chip. Comparatively, today's standard real-time PCR technologies are only able to run 384 assays on a single plate. Additionally, each of the system's wells is designed to support a real-time PCR reaction of 100 nanoliters. This represents a 1,000 fold decrease in the amount of reagent and sample required by today's standard real-time PCR technologies. The result is the ability to conduct gene expression research at a fraction of the time and cost associated with current technologies.

Under terms of WaferGen's collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, researchers will leverage the high-throughput real-time PCR capabilities of WaferGen's SmartChip Real-Time PCR System to support their identification of therapeutically-relevant biomarkers in the areas of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and lung cancer. This research may lead to the discovery of specific genes responsible for causing these diseases and conditions. In turn, this critical genetic information may ultimately provide physicians with new tools for determining accurate disease prognosis in patients, while also potentially providing drug developers with information necessary for the creation of targeted therapeutics for patients with COPD, IPF and lung cancer. WaferGen expects the alpha testing program will demonstrate significant cost and speed advantages for the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System as compared to other commercialized platforms. These experiments will be overseen by Steven D. Shapiro, M.D., Jack D. Myers Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at University of Pittsburgh and Naftali Kaminski, M.D., Director of the Dorothy P. and Richard P. Simmons Center for Interstitial Lung Disease.

"The shipment of the alpha version of the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System to the University of Pittsburgh Medical School is a significant milestone for WaferGen as we work to rapidly bring this innovative product to the market," said Alnoor Shivji, WaferGen's chairman and chief executive officer. "We are eager to follow the progress of Dr. Shapiro and his research team as they advance the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System through alpha testing. The feedback that they will be able to provide WaferGen will be invaluable as we continue to pursue our mission of providing researchers around the world with access to the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System."

Dr. Shapiro is a world-renowned expert in identifying and understanding the underlying biological contributors to pulmonary diseases such as COPD, IPF, and lung cancer. His laboratory has played a leading role in guiding the path of cutting-edge COPD research including key discoveries related to the biological and pathological function of proteinases. With the goal of uncovering novel and effective pulmonary disease therapeutics, Dr. Shapiro and his team employ a multidisciplinary research approach which the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System is expected to strengthen.

WaferGen is presently continuing its work on the development of additional proprietary assays for the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System, including those focused in the area of toxicology. At the same time, the company is also developing an enhanced version of the system that will enable users to conduct 100,000 assays on a single chip. This will provide the opportunity for researchers to use one chip to conduct whole genome gene expression in triplicate.

About the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System

The SmartChip Real-Time PCR System(TM) is designed as the first whole genome, high-throughput gene expression real-time PCR platform and promises to deliver significant speed and cost advantages to researchers in the gene expression and genotyping markets. It is estimated that the genetic analysis market alone (comprised of gene expression and genotyping analysis) had approximately $2.4 billion in worldwide revenues in 2006 ($1.74 billion for gene expression and $650 million for genotyping). Total global revenue for this market is estimated to reach approximately $5.0 billion by 2012.

WaferGen believes the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System will be the first platform to combine the high-throughput capability and cost efficiencies of existing microarrays, with the sensitivity and accuracy of real-time PCR. Specifically, the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System's high density, rapid cycling configuration is expected to provide industry-leading throughput levels, while offering discovery and validation capabilities in a single step. The result will be the ability to conduct gene expression research at a fraction of the time and cost currently produced by existing instrument systems. For example, the company anticipates that whole genome assay time may be significantly reduced with the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System as compared to several days or months with microarrays or real-time PCR, respectively. This decrease in research time has broad economic implications across the drug development industry, particularly for pharmaceutical companies seeking avenues for reducing time to market for its therapeutics. Further, the company believes such throughput will dramatically impact the cost of such assays.

Beyond the significant time and cost advantages, the simplicity of the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System is unparalleled. The system will provide a number of key ease-of-use features including content-ready, high-density chips containing 30,000 - 100,000 nano-wells with gene panels optimized for cancer, toxicology and whole genome. The user-friendly SmartChip Real-Time PCR System will be preloaded with some of the reaction components. At the same time, the system will only require a very small sample size as compared to other technologies and platforms and will offer real-time detection and sophisticated read-out options while assuring detection sensitivity and temperature uniformity across chips.

As we evolved the technology we developed during the project's first phase into the next stage, our deep technical capability and extensive experience in high power applications was critical to our customer's confidence in and commitment to Technipower as the project progressed. This next phase requires much higher energy density than the initial project and is typical of the growing number of kilowatt class applications that Technipower is uniquely qualified to fulfill."

Mr. DeVecchis added, "Leveraging our high power capability and military experience provides an expanded platform for Technipower's continued growth in these unique applications and adds depth and breadth to our corporate focus in the renewable and alternative energy markets where high power, rugged and highly reliable products are mandatory."

The new initiative will increase launch trajectory accuracy, replacing a decades old system on one of the military's primary light mobile bombardment platforms. Technipower's proposal not only provided a robust, innovative power system, but also was responsive to the contractor's need for a highly manufacturable, cost effective solution. This second system is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of this year. If the military selects the new system for future field deployment the production contract could be substantial over a number of years.
