Sikorsky Aircraft Preps for Multiple First Flights as 'Four Pillars' Continue to Pace Rapid Growth
FARNBOROUGH, England, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL AIR SHOW -- With busy production lines and a schedule of first flights for seven programs in 2008, Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. continues to chart a path for future growth after doubling revenues over the last four years, Sikorsky President Jeffrey P. Pino said today at the Farnborough International Air Show. Sikorsky, based in Stratford, Conn., USA, is a business unit of United Technologies Corp. .
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20060403/SIKORSKYLOGO)
Sikorsky Aircraft established "four pillars of growth" as a guide for company progress. Pino first announced the guidelines two years ago at the Farnborough show. They are: growth with margin expansion, excellence in execution, technological leadership, and globalization.
"To say that I am excited at the prospects of growth and industry-changing innovation is an understatement. Sikorsky in 2008 is poised to mark an unprecedented period of milestones and growth," Pino said.
Sikorsky's revenue reached a record $4.8 billion in 2007 and its backlog has grown to $12 billion from $6.9 billion in 2004.
Current U.S. government production programs include the MH-60S and MH-60R helicopters for the U.S. Navy, and the UH-60 BLACK HAWK helicopter for the U.S. Army.
The programs call for 271 and 298 of the Navy's MH-60S and MH-60R helicopters, respectively. Sikorsky is in full-rate production for the U.S. Army's newest BLACK HAWK, the UH-60M. This program is expected to produce more than 1,200 aircraft. "Our H-60 product lines are in a strong growth period as both the Army and Navy continue to replenish their fleets," Pino said.
In addition, Sikorsky is developing the CH-53K heavy lift helicopter for the U.S. Marine Corps under a $3 billion System Development and Demonstration contract. The SDD contract could lead to the production of 156 CH-53K aircraft to replace roughly an equal number of CH-53E SUPER STALLION(TM) helicopters in the Marine Corps' current inventory.
Development money and production quantities for all government programs are determined year-by-year over the life of the program based on funding allocations set by Congress and Pentagon acquisition priorities.
The S-92(R) helicopter and S-76(R) helicopter product lines continue to lead the resurgence in Sikorsky's commercial aircraft business. "The H-92 helicopter, a military version of our S-92 aircraft, is on static display here in Farnborough, and we are preparing to bring it on a world tour beginning in Europe. We at Sikorsky are very optimistic about our future, as we see strong growth across all of our product lines, and the S-92 helicopter and its variants are a key component of that future growth," Pino said.
In May, the S-76 fleet passed 5 million flight hours, and Sikorsky delivered the 700th aircraft in the series earlier this year.
In approximately four years since the start of production deliveries, the S-92 helicopter fleet has accumulated 100,000 flight hours. Offshore oil S-92 helicopter operators are flying between 130 and 170 hours per month, a testament to the aircraft's sturdiness and ease of maintenance.
Sikorsky's global expansion has been another key component of the company's rapid growth these last few years. Among the highlights are:
-- Modernization projects continue at the PZL Mielec facility in Poland, and the first BLACK HAWK helicopter cabins are due to be delivered from there later this year.
-- In China, S-76 helicopters are now being built under a joint venture of Shanghai Sikorsky and AVIC II.
-- Sikorsky's supply base in Turkey continues to grow, and plans to develop regional aviation centers are progressing in the Middle East.
Even with surging production, Sikorsky continues to invest in product development to sustain long-term growth. In addition to the CH-53K helicopter for the Marine Corps, other current development programs include:
-- The International BLACK HAWK helicopter, to be produced at PZL Mielec with deliveries expected to begin in 2011.
-- The H-92 helicopter, the first military variant of the S-92 helicopter, is scheduled to fly in the fourth quarter. Twenty-eight of these militarized S-92 helicopters are scheduled to be built for the Canadian Air Force.
-- The UH-60M Upgrade helicopter is scheduled to fly in the third quarter. This latest version of the BLACK HAWK helicopter is a fly-by-wire aircraft with a Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) cockpit being developed under a $260 million development contract with the U.S. Army. Ultimately, it is expected to lead to initial production of approximately 1,000 aircraft.
-- The X2 TECHNOLOGY(TM) Demonstrator is on the verge of its first flight as well. The prototype represents a new generation of rotorcraft that combines an integrated suite of technologies intended to advance the state-of-the-art, counter-rotating coaxial rotor helicopter. It is designed to demonstrate a helicopter can cruise comfortably at 250 knots, while retaining such desirable helicopter attributes as excellent low speed handling, efficient hovering and autorotation safety, with seamless and simple transition to high speed.
-- The S-76D(TM) helicopter, the latest version of the S-76 helicopter, which includes a new composite rotor blade, Pratt & Whitney 210S engines, Quiet Design Tail Rotor, Active Vibration Control, Rotor Ice Protection System, and Thales advanced avionics. First flight is expected by year-end, and Sikorsky already has about 100 position agreements on the aircraft.
-- The Sikorsky-Schweizer S-434(TM) helicopter, with a four-bladed rotor system based on the existing S-333(TM) helicopter, is slated for its first flight in the fourth quarter.
Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., based in Stratford, Conn., USA, is a world leader in helicopter design, manufacture and service. The company's mission statement reflects its long commitment to safety and innovation: "We pioneer flight solutions that bring people home everywhere ... every time(TM)." United Technologies Corp., based in Hartford, Conn., USA, provides a broad range of high technology products and support services to the aerospace and building systems industries.
This press release contains forward-looking statements concerning future business opportunities. Actual results may differ materially from those projected as a result of certain risks and uncertainties, including but not limited to changes in government procurement priorities and practices or in the number of aircraft to be built; challenges in the design, development, production and support of advanced technologies; as well as other risks and uncertainties, including but not limited to those detailed from time to time in United Technologies Corporation's Securities and Exchange Commission filings.

The momentum Agile is generating in the market has many enterprise IT
executives investigating and implementing Agile practices. However, for
enterprises to realise the full potential benefits of Agile methods, they
need to scale their use of Agile beyond individual projects and teams,
rolling it out in a widespread fashion across the organisation. RADTAC
pioneered enterprise-wide Agile enablement in the 1990s, developing the
PragmaticAgileTM approach to transformation. Having embarked on its own Agile
transformation, Borland understands many of the challenges enterprises face
when adopting more Agile approaches and developed the Borland Management
Solutions to support enterprises through these transitions.
"Smarter organisations seeking to increase their use of Agile often still
need to operate in a wider environment alongside less Agile approaches and
more traditional ways of working," said Les Oliver, Business Development
Director of RADTAC. "Borland's Management Solutions provide a platform that
can support this reality, enabling customers to manage, measure and track the
performance of both Agile and traditional projects. Our real-world experience
and understanding, of integrating and working within these environments have
been key to our success, and we believe Borland shares our philosophy towards
enterprise transformation, and thus is a natural partner for RADTAC."
Borland TeamFocus, one of three products in the Borland Management
Solution, is a project execution environment that supports both Agile and
more traditional delivery approaches. It allows Agile teams to plan and
execute their Agile projects while gathering key progress metrics that give
organisations that are making Agile transitions the ability to monitor and
evaluate the performance of their Agile teams.
"Borland's driving mission is to help transform software delivery into a
managed and predictable process," said Andy Seager, Vice President of
Marketing - EMEA for Borland. "For an increasing number of organisations,
adopting more Agile approaches has become part of their efforts to achieve
this goal. A transformation to Agile on an enterprise scale is not a one size
fits all proposition. RADTAC's enterprise Agile enablement services have
helped hundreds of companies with their organisational transformation, and we
look forward to supporting these programs with the technology solutions that
will support their processes while increasing visibility and control."

Destiny Media Reports Record Revenues for Q3 2008Play MPE Revenues Grow for 11th Consecutive Quarter; 96% Increase Over the Prior Year
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Destiny Media (BULLETIN BOARD: DSNY) , the global leader in the secure distribution of pre-release music to radio and provider of instant play streaming video and audio, is pleased to report record revenues for Q3 which covers the period March - May 2008. Company products include Play MPE(R) and Clipstream(R).
According to Destiny CEO, Steve Vestergaard, this was the quarter where Destiny clearly emerged as the company which will become the global standard in digital delivery of pre-release music. "We've built a foundation where we can confidently say we expect to be profitable by Q1 (Sept. - Nov.). We've reduced expenses by over 20% from the prior quarter and expect costs to continue to decline. We have maintained upward revenue growth while implementing a new system of calculating price per send, which while beneficial to the labels in the short term, should result in higher volumes and revenues in coming months. We expect a revenue spike in the first quarter.
"Our system usage continues to grow. We expect to announce at least one more company wide major label agreement and one major label international agreement in Q4. We also expect to announce significant progress with our expansion into Canada and new industry partnerships."
The company currently has company wide North American agreements in place with Universal Music Group and EMI. In addition, agreements are signed with sub labels of Sony BMG and Warner in North America and with UMG, Warner and Sony BMG in northern Europe. Nova Pushes Optical CD Boundaries With Nova T500(TM) Stand-Alone PlatformThe Nova T500 Features 250WPH Throughput and 30% Improvement in Precision
REHOVOT, Israel, July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd. provider of leading edge stand-alone metrology and the market leader of integrated metrology solutions to the semiconductor process control market, today unveiled its new high throughput high accuracy stand-alone optical CD platform.
The new Nova T500 follows the highly-successful 3090Next metrology tool. It addresses the industry's toughest challenges - increasing metrology sampling, improving metrology precision and reducing metrology cost of ownership.
"We started our penetration of the stand-alone Optical CD market about two years ago based on years of experience with high end Integrated Metrology," said Gabi Seligsohn, President & CEO of Nova. "The technological advantages of our platform helped make the penetration successful, resulting in installations in 13 different fabs. With its record breaking throughput and leading edge accuracy, I see the Nova T500 as key to continuing our strategy of providing a state of the art cost effective alternative to CD-SEM in Lithography and increasing our market share in stand-alone Optical CD."
The Nova T500 provides extremely high throughput of 250WPH (13 measurement sites). Based on Nova's patented Normal Incidence Spectral Reflectometry, the Nova T500 redesigned optics, improve metrology precision by 30% over current generation NovaScan 3090Next. The flexible platform allows up to three Measurement Units to be installed on the same tool, providing an easy and cost effective path to upgrades as well as adding other metrology capabilities as they become available. Combined with NovaMARS(TM), advanced application development software, the Nova T500 has the ability to measure fine profile parameters on complex 3D test structures as well as in the device.
"In the Nova T500 we designed the optics to significantly improve spectral accuracy," said Boaz Brill, VP of Technology at Nova. "The accuracy of the measured spectra is the most dominant factor in allowing the measurement of fine profile parameters as well as the key for best fleet matching. With improved spectral accuracy the Nova T500 provides solution to 32nm demanding Front End of Line applications while maintaining very high Throughput."
About Nova: Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd. develops, produces and markets advanced integrated and stand alone metrology solutions for the semiconductor manufacturing industry. Nova is traded on the NASDAQ & TASE under the symbol NVMI. The Company's website is http://www.nova.co.il/.
The Nova T500 Advantage
Record Breaking Throughput
Semiconductor manufacturers are facing tough process and business challenges. On one hand they are required to increase metrology sampling to cope with shrinking process windows, new materials and new architectures and on the other they are required to reduce cost to maintain profitability. 32nm Double Patterning whether Lithography based or Etch based, dictates higher than before metrology sampling. The Nova T500 throughput of 250WPH (13 sites) offers semiconductor manufacturers significant metrology CoO reduction and enables them to increase metrology sampling.
The flexible Nova T500 platform offers configurable throughput capabilities of 135WPH (13 sites) with one Metrology Unit (MU) and 250WPH (13 sites) with a second MU. For very dense sampling of 40 sites and more per wafer, as is often the case for scanner qualification and monitoring, a third MU can be added.
Industry leading precision and matching
Shrinking process windows dictate better understanding of metrology uncertainty factors. The 2007 International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) replaces the single term precision, representing variability of a single tool over time, with uncertainty, consisting of three different factors: single tool measurement-to-measurement variability, tool-to-tool variability and sample-to-sample variability. Nova's patented Spectral Reflectometry (SR), designed specifically for best Optical CD performance, has already shown excellence on all factors in customer and third party evaluations. The Nova T500 redesigned optics reduce metrology uncertainty by 30% over current generation NovaScan 3090Next meeting ITRS requirements down to 22nm technology node.
Upgradability and Extendibility
The Nova T500 flexible design allows up to three metrology units to be installed on the same tool. In addition to throughput benefits, this design allows easy and cost effective upgradability to future metrology and extendibility to different metrology capabilities as they become available.
3D and In-die Measurements
As process windows shrink the correlation between solid or 2D test structures and the actual device diminishes. The Nova T500 high accuracy and sensitivity to profile parameters, combined with NovaMARS, advanced application development software, provides the ability to measure complex 3D profile parameters on test structures as well as in the device.
New Tool Operating Software
The Nova T500 operating software features modern Graphics User Interface (GUI) conforming to SEMI standard E-95 controlling all tool operations including recipe creation, measurement, results plotting and analysis, troubleshooting, Preventive Maintenance (PM) and more. An error logging, diagnostic, handling and recovery module constantly analyzes the tool's health, handling errors when they occur and increasing Mean Time Between Interrupts (MTBI). The new "rights management" module supports simple as well as complex viewing and editing rights management schemes preventing unwanted recipe change and information leak to unauthorized personnel.

Goodrich Intelligence Reference Library Software Provides Expanded Data to Warfighter
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, July 14 /PRNewswire/ --
- System integrates data from diverse unrelated sources to provide
comprehensive real time battlefield intelligence on a personal computer
(Farnborough International Airshow). Goodrich Corporation's (NYSE: GR)
new personal computer- (PC) based Intelligence Reference Library (IRL)
software has proven its capability to integrate data from a number of
unrelated systems into a comprehensive real time battlefield snapshot, day or
night. The software is produced by Goodrich's ISR Systems team in Malvern,
UK.
IRL's proprietary software simultaneously catalogues and meshes data from
a number of diverse sources such as the Goodrich DB-110 reconnaissance pod as
well as non-Goodrich synthetic aperture radar, full motion video, and other
sensors. As the sensors focus on a mission-specific geographic location, IRL
formulates an extremely accurate "imagery intelligence picture" of actionable
data on a ground-based work station or handheld PC. The system operates over
a relatively narrow communication bandwidth, and provides detailed
information on a wide range of target sets.
Tom Bergeron, President, ISR Systems at Goodrich, said, "Recent testing
of our IRL in combination with new ground station display technology has
proved that this integrated system can provide our troops with the complete
information they need to be successful, day and night, in combat operations
worldwide. This low-risk solution works with fixed or mobile ground stations,
and is designed for maximum flexibility at an affordable price."
Goodrich will display IRL's capabilities at the 2008 Farnborough Air
Show.

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company Debuts Russia's First Paperless Aircraft Using Siemens PLM Software's Teamcenter Collaboration SolutionTeamcenter Provides the Product Data Management Platform, Including Digital Mock-ups, to Enable the Internationally Designed and Manufactured Sukhoi Superjet 100 to Complete Maiden Flight in May
PLANO, Texas and FARNBOROUGH, England, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that its Teamcenter(R) software suite enabled the production of Russia's first internationally-designed and manufactured, paperless aircraft. Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company's Superjet 100 (SSJ100), marked its maiden flight on May 19, 2008.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070904/SIEMENSLOGO )
Russia's new entry into the competitive and rapidly growing global regional jet market involved an international team of international partners and world-class aircraft systems suppliers throughout Western Europe and the United States. The goal for SCAC was to bring all system suppliers into a virtual enterprise on a global platform, implementing the latest design and manufacturing technology. The end result is an aircraft that consumes 10 percent less fuel than its nearest competitor, has a 10 percent lower overall cost of ownership and has the lowest price in its class. The SSJ100 also offers unprecedented passenger comfort in the regional jet category, with wider seats, wider aisles and larger storage bins.
To create this industry-leading aircraft, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company and its partners worked within a single master data warehouse enabled with Teamcenter that included all 3D models and related data to completely define and digitally mock up any aspect of the SSJ100. This warehouse, or platform, enabled the company to create Russia's first aircraft from a paperless design process.
Siemens PLM Software's Teamcenter software suite, the world's most widely-used PLM portfolio, was central to SCAC upgrade effort and was among key factors in achieving first flight in a fast-paced development program for the SSJ100 regional airliner.
Teamcenter helped coordinate the efforts of approximately 1,700 engineers and manufacturing specialists in more than eight locations with a world-class team of partners across the globe.
"We set out with an aggressive plan and succeeded because of our collaboration with partners and suppliers powered by Teamcenter," said Viktor Soubbotin, President, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company. "The collaborative technology played a central role in bringing the SSJ100 into the air faster and at lower cost."
"Teamcenter gave SCAC a single synchronized knowledge platform for designing and manufacturing," said Paul Vogel, senior vice president and managing director for Europe, Middle East & Africa, Siemens PLM Software. "In large, geographically distributed projects, like SSJ100, everyone should work with a single source of data to keep the control over all design changes during production. Watching and working with Sukhoi over the course of the design process has been inspiring. We, in a sense, provide the paint brush and palette, but the designers at SCAC and their partners around the world are the artists. And they truly have created a masterpiece in their first global effort and they've done it in record time."

U-verse Voice is a next-generation digital voice service that brings more control and functionality to your home phone. Unlike many Voice over IP (VoIP) providers that offer best-effort digital phone services over the public Internet, U-verse Voice is a managed IP-based service that is delivered over AT&T's fiber-rich network. This allows U-verse Voice customers to enjoy great sound quality and reliability, as well as unmatched calling features that combine with your AT&T U-verse TV, broadband and AT&T wireless services, including:
-- Combined AT&T U-verse Voice and AT&T wireless voice mail with U-verse
Messaging, which provides a single voice mailbox that can be accessed
from any phone line or PC.
-- U-verse Central, an online management portal that gives you the option
to easily and conveniently manage your call preferences, voice mail,
contacts, call history and more from any PC, in addition to the ability
to control call preferences from your home phone.
-- An online voice mailbox to check, manage and forward voice mail from
the online portal, much like an e-mail inbox.
-- Call History, which enables you to view your most recent incoming and
outgoing calls online or to view your most recent incoming calls on
your AT&T U-verse TV screen.
-- Click to Call, which will initiate a call from your home phone to any
number in your Call History with one click of a mouse or the U-verse TV
remote control.
-- An online Address Book that is accessible from any PC and allows you to
Click to Call from your home phone, to create and share contact groups
with other U-verse Voice customers or to set up distribution lists for
voice messages.
-- Locate Me, a feature that provides simultaneous ringing on up to four
wireless or landline numbers so you never miss an important incoming
call.
-- Traditional calling features, such as Call Screening, Call Blocking, Do
Not Disturb and privacy settings.
All U-verse Voice customers will have 911 service. Where available via the local 911 network, U-verse Voice customers will have Enhanced 911 (E911) service.
U-verse TV customers can choose from two flexible U-verse Voice calling plans. U-verse Voice Unlimited includes unlimited local and nationwide minutes to any location in the U.S., Canada or U.S. territories for $40 a month, and U-verse Voice 1000 includes 1,000 Call Anywhere minutes to any location in the U.S. or U.S. territories for $30 a month. A second phone line, which shares the primary line's calling plan, can be added for $20 a month, and each plan features competitive international rates with no recurring monthly charge.
AT&T's wireless customers who subscribe to an AT&T Unity(SM) plan can call any AT&T U-verse Voice number from their mobile phone as part of the nation's largest free calling community without using any wireless Anytime Minutes.
AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet for Consumers and Small Businesses
AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet offers more bandwidth and faster available speeds to meet the needs of every consumer or small business broadband user, including four package options:
-- Max: Downstream speeds up to 10.0 Mbps, upstream speeds up to 1.5 Mbps
-- Elite: Downstream speeds up to 6.0 Mbps, upstream speeds up to 1.0 Mbps
-- Pro: Downstream speeds up to 3.0 Mbps, upstream speeds up to 1.0 Mbps
-- Express: Downstream speeds up to 1.5 Mbps, upstream speeds up to 1.0
Mbps
All AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet packages include wireless home or office networking at no extra cost, giving customers the freedom to access online photos, receive and send large data files, view streaming video and access other high-bandwidth applications from a wireless-enabled laptop or other device. Subscribers also receive virtually unlimited e-mail storage, powerful anti-virus and anti-spam software and access to the nation's largest Wi-Fi network with free unlimited connectivity at more than 17,000 hot spot locations.
AT&T is deploying next-generation AT&T U-verse services as part of its mission to connect people with their world, everywhere they live and work, and do it better than anyone else. Through AT&T U-verse and the company's 100 percent IP platform, consumers will benefit from integrated AT&T services across the three screens they value most: the TV, the PC and the wireless phone.
