Verizon Wireless to Celebrate Grand Opening of Newest Communications Store in WestfieldFeaturing Family Fun and a Chance to Win N.Y. Giants Pre-Season Tickets
WESTFIELD, N.J., Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the growing demand for the company's voice and data products and services, Verizon Wireless will celebrate the grand opening of its newest Communications Store in South Plainfield next weekend.
The new store, located at 109 North Avenue West, is the fourth Verizon Wireless store in New Jersey to incorporate a new interactive retail design inviting consumers to experience wireless voice, data, music and video services in a sleek, full-service environment. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The store phone number is 908-789-1201.
Grand-opening festivities begin on Thursday, August 14, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a presentation of a $1,000 HopeLine(R) donation to the YWCA of Eastern Union County's Project Protect, which offers a range of services to survivors of domestic violence and their children.
On Saturday, August 16, the celebration will continue with refreshments, family fun activities and a chance to win N.Y. Giants pre-season tickets from noon to 4:00 p.m. Family fun activities will continue on Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m.
A recognized corporate leader for its commitment to preventing domestic violence and raising awareness of the issue, the Verizon Wireless donation was made possible through the company's HopeLine(R) phone recycling program.
"We are pleased to welcome Verizon Wireless to the Westfield community and thank them for their generous support," said Maria Tsitsiragos, treasurer of the board of directors of the YWCA of Eastern Union County. "In addition to financial support, the HopeLine program provides us with a unique opportunity to raise community awareness about the devastating impact of domestic violence."
Verizon Wireless' national HopeLine(R) phone recycling program collects used cell phones of any make or model, from any wireless carrier. Phones are recycled or sold and the proceeds are donated in the form of cash grants and pre-paid wireless handsets to advocacy groups for use by battered women.
Store Manager Pedro Valentin encourages local residents to stop by the store, join in the festivities and drop off their old, no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories.
"This small act can make a huge difference in the lives of women and children affected by violence in the home," he said. "HopeLine is an innovative approach that not only helps protect women and families at risk, but also protects the environment by keeping electronic waste out of our landfills."
Verizon Wireless was the first wireless carrier in the nation to collect and recycle old cell phones and has done so since January 1999, first in New Jersey and then across the U.S. Nationally, the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program has given more than $5 million in cash grants and more than 60,000 phones with airtime to domestic violence prevention organizations. Locally, HopeLine's direct and in-kind donations total nearly $1 million.
The new store features over 3,000 square feet of retail, technical support and customer service space and is staffed by knowledgeable wireless professionals. Verizon Wireless offers a broad range of equipment and service options including a new line-up of devices that combine V CAST music capabilities, mobile TV and full access to the Internet and VZ Navigator(Version 4.0) which adds traffic and gas station information to audible turn-by-turn directions.
The Westfield Communications Store is the sixth to open in Union County and one of more than 140 Verizon Wireless interactive retail locations in the New York Metro area. HopeLine phone donations are accepted at all Verizon Wireless Communications Stores in New Jersey and across the nation. For store locations and additional information, visit http://www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline.

Frederick County, VA Residents to Benefit from Verizon Wireless Network ExpansionInvesting to Stay Ahead of Growing Demand for Wireless Calling, Data Access and Music
LAUREL, Md., Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for residents and visitors in Frederick County, Va., Verizon Wireless has expanded its network with a new cell site. The new cell site provides coverage along Route 7 and surrounding area including Blossom Drive, Triple J Road, Senseny Road, Greenwood Road, Burnt Factory Road, Woods Mill Road, Jordan Springs Road, Valley Mill Road, Hunter Run Road, and portions of Crum's Church Road and Sulphur Springs Road.
The network expansion is part of an aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless' voice and data services. The company spent $300 million to enhance services and coverage throughout Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland in 2007, bringing total network investment in the region to more than $1.8 billion since 2000.
Nationally, the company has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed -- $5.5 billion on average every year -- to offer customers the most reliable service available, including wireless data services such as picture messaging, text messaging, and the company's exclusive V CAST service. V CAST brings video clips of TV shows, music on demand and other multimedia services to wireless phones over Verizon Wireless' high-speed EV-DO network. Verizon Wireless' high-speed third generation wireless broadband network has been enhanced with EV-DO Rev. A technology.
This enhancement allows customers who use the company's flagship business data service, BroadbandAccess, to interact with Web-based applications, download music over-the-air, access to e-mail, everyday corporate data, the Internet, and more at speeds that are eight to nine times faster than before. For example, BroadbandAccess customers with Rev. A compatible devices can now expect average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps, which means customers can download a 1 megabyte e-mail attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint(R) presentation or a large PDF file -- in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds.
Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the second quarter of 2008 as the company added 1.5 million net new customers. For the 15th consecutive quarter, Verizon Wireless also led the wireless industry in customer loyalty. The company posted a churn (customer turnover) rate of just 1.12%, below the rate reported by the other major wireless carriers.
Verizon Wireless tests its network and those of its competitors to ensure the Verizon Wireless network remains the nation's most reliable. Nationally, Verizon Wireless' real-life test men and women drive 91 specially equipped vehicles almost 1,000,000 miles annually on Interstate, U.S. and state highways, as well as major roads and surface streets in high-population areas, based upon U.S. Census counts, to determine if voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

Verizon Wireless's high-speed third generation wireless broadband network has been enhanced with EV-DO Rev.

POUR LE TRIMESTRE CLOS LE 30 JUIN 2008
--------------------------------

pouvoir >>, << sera >>, << probable >>, << s'attendre à >>, << anticiper >>,
<< croire >>, << avoir l'intention >>, << projeter >>, << estimer >>, <<
perte fiscale, d'autres expositions fiscales potentielles, des difficultés
