FiOS TV is delivered over Verizon's all-fiber-optic network, which brings the power and capacity of fiber optics directly into people's homes and has industry-leading quality and reliability.
To date, Verizon has placed more than 55 million feet of fiber in its Florida service territory. Fiber delivers amazingly sharp pictures and sound, and has the capacity to transmit a wide array of high-definition programming that is so clear and intense it seems to leap from the TV screen. It also delivers Internet download speeds of up to 50 Mbps* (megabits per second) and upload speeds of up to 20 Mbps, as well as high-quality voice services.
FiOS Internet Highlights
Verizon's 50/20 FiOS Internet connection is the fastest available to U.S. consumers, and the company's 20/20 symmetrical service is the first of its kind commercially available to U.S. consumers on a mass scale. Pioneering a new category of broadband for the American consumer, Verizon's symmetrical FiOS provides the ultra-fast, two-way speeds crucial for such burgeoning online activities as video conferencing, social networking and super-fast uploading of electronic photo albums or home videos, as well as multi-player gaming and online work collaboration.
At 50 Mbps, downloading a 5 GB (gigabyte) file, such as 112-minute, high-definition movie purchased online, takes approximately 13.3 minutes, while a 50 MB (megabyte) or 60-minute Web video takes 8 seconds, and a 5 MB MP3 music file takes less than eight-tenths of a second.
Using a 20 Mbps upstream broadband connection, a consumer could upload a 250 megabyte (MB) file of 200 photos in about 90 seconds, instead of the roughly 47 minutes it takes over a 768 kilobit-per-second (Kbps) upstream connection. A 500 MB file, such as 400 digital photos or a medical imaging data file, could be uploaded in less than four minutes, compared with about 90 minutes over a 768 Kbps connection. A 3 gigabyte (GB) file, such as a one-hour family video shot with a high-definition video camera, could be uploaded in around 20 minutes, compared with more than nine hours with 768 Kbps upstream.
FiOS Internet 50/20 Mbps service is available for $139.95 a month with an annual service plan; the 20/20 Mbps service is available for $64.99 a month with an annual service plan. FiOS Internet service is also available as part of a discounted bundle of multiple Verizon services.
Tampa Bay area consumers can check online at http://www.verizon.com/fios for more information or to request that Verizon contact them when FiOS services become available. Customers also can call their local Verizon sales office or 888-GET FiOS (888-438-3467).
In addition to Florida, Verizon currently provides FiOS TV in parts of California, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas and Virginia.
At the end of the second quarter 2008, nearly 2 million Verizon customers received their broadband service over Verizon's all-fiber network, and nearly 1.4 million customers had subscribed to FiOS TV.
* NOTE: actual (throughput) speeds will vary based on factors including computer configuration and network/Internet congestion.

On May 23, 2007, MSGI entered into a sub-contracting and distribution agreement with Apro Media Corp. to provide commercial security services to a Fortune 100 defense contractor. Apro Media Corp. would potentially earn 16 million shares of MSGI over the course of seven years in exchange for the business. On August 22, 2008 MSGI negotiated an acceleration of both sub-contracting agreements with Hirsch Capital Corp., the San Francisco based private equity firm operating Hyundai Syscomm and Apro Media.
Under the accelerated terms, MSGI would ramp up to a platform generating approximately $100 million in annual gross revenue supporting several of the largest commercial businesses in Korea. There will be additional revenue from sales to the Fortune 100 defense contractor as well. As part of this expansion MSGI will become the beneficiary of various technology transfers. These new assets are expected to include Hi-Definition Video Surveillance systems, Hi-Definition DVR systems and emerging RFID Technology. Based upon the binding commitment to expand MSGI to a run rate of $100 million in annual gross revenue, Hirsch Capital will have the right to earn shares of MSGI as indicated in the sub-contracting and distribution agreement referenced above.
MSGI executive staff will be increased to support the new business and technical operations will be relocated to Northern California within the next few months. Subsequent progress reports on the status of this business acceleration will be issued throughout the remainder of the current quarter.

A rapidly growing technology in higher education, interactive student response systems allow educators to go beyond traditional classroom lectures and teaching methods. AT&T's 3G network is the nation's fastest, according to third-party data, and is available today in more than 310 major U.S. metropolitan areas, and by year-end, AT&T expects to offer the service in nearly 350 major metro areas. The AT&T EDGE network is available in more than 13,000 cities and towns and along some 40,000 miles of major highways across the U.S.
"The faculty and IT professionals at Abilene Christian University (ACU) are always looking for tools to enhance the educational and practical use of mobile devices in higher education," said Dr. Kyle Dickson, associate professor of English and scholar in residence in the Adams Center for Teaching and Learning at ACU. "AT&T and Turning Technologies share our commitment in enabling an improved teaching and learning experience using powerful mobile learning technologies."

"AT&T's network and strategic relationships with technology suppliers, such as Turning Technologies, enable delivery of superior applications designed to enhance a learning institution's overall education process as well as secure its network," said Carl Done, vice president of Sales, Education for AT&T. "As federal and state dollars become harder to come by, higher education is looking to technology to play a major role in helping provide the highest-quality learning experience at the lowest possible cost. The interactive response system is the latest example of our commitment to bring innovative technologies into the classroom for practical use by professors, teachers and students."

Jack Henry & Associates Adds 30 Credit Unions to Client Roster During Fiscal Year 2008- Diversity among New Clients Demonstrates Industry-Wide Appeal of Symitar(TM) Solutions -
MONETT, Mo., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jack Henry & Associates, Inc. , a leading provider of integrated technology solutions and data processing services for financial institutions, today announced that its Symitar division added 30 new credit unions to its client roster during its fiscal year 2008, ended June 30.
Twenty-seven credit unions replaced competitive platforms with Symitar's Episys(R) system, a highly customizable IBM(R) Power(TM) System-based solution. Twenty-five of these credit unions chose Episys as an in-house solution and two elected to outsource their information and transaction processing to Symitar. Three credit unions replaced competitive alternatives with Cruise(R), a Windows(R)-based client/server solution for smaller credit unions. Two of these credit unions chose Cruise as an in-house solution and one elected to outsource its data processing to Symitar.
California-based LA Financial Credit Union, which has more than $300 million in assets and approximately 35,000 members, is among the credit unions contracting to replace its core system with Episys. According to Barbara Nall, president and CEO of this credit union, "When we considered system functionality, company reputation, and the strength of the Episys customer base, Symitar became our clear choice. We expect great things from this stable, reliable, widely implemented system and know that Symitar is an ideal cultural fit for our credit union which is extremely important to our day-to-day business relationship."
Western Federal Credit Union, which has more than $1 billion in assets and approximately 119,000 members, is among the credit unions that converted to Episys. Gordon Howe, executive vice president and COO of this credit union, said, "Every aspect of this technically challenging engagement, from project management and programming to hardware support and training, was executed with a high level of professionalism and dedication, and thereby affirmed Western's decision to become a Symitar client."
Kathy Hooker Burress, president of Symitar, said, "Since being acquired by Jack Henry & Associates eight-years ago, we have more than doubled our Episys client base by participating in the competitive technology evaluations conducted by diverse credit unions and building our customer base one win at a time rather than through the acquisition and conversion of competitive customer bases. And during fiscal year 2008, we continued to increase our market share by replacing competitive platforms. We believe the diversity of these 30 credit unions clearly demonstrates the industry-wide appeal of our technology platforms. Episys and Cruise were selected to replace 12 different competitive systems by credit unions that are located in 20 states, with assets ranging from approximately $3 million to more than $1.4 billion, and with member bases ranging from a start-up credit union to one with more than 120,000 members. The credit unions added to our client roster this year also have an average asset size that is more than double the average asset size of the clients added during fiscal year 2007."
According to Jack Prim, CEO of Jack Henry & Associates, "According to data published by the National Credit Union Association, the average net gain in new clients for Symitar's major competitors during our most recent fiscal year was less than one. Episys has replaced every major competitive system and represents the largest organic user base in the industry, which was built through the competitive evaluations conducted by more than 500 individual credit unions rather than through the conversion of acquired client bases. Episys is also recognized as the technology platform-of-choice for more credit unions with assets exceeding $25 million than any other alternative, including more than 30 percent of the 127 credit unions with assets exceeding $1 billion, and six corporate credit unions. Our client retention rate of approximately 99 percent during Symitar's 23-year history also provides a rewarding point of competitive distinction."
About LA Financial Credit Union
Originally chartered as Courts and Records Federal Credit Union, serving employees of the Los Angeles County court system, LA Financial Credit Union converted to a community charter in 2004. The credit union's field of membership now extends to all of Los Angeles County, making it the geographically largest community charter ever granted by the NCUA. Additional information is available at http://www.lafinancial.org/.

(BULLETIN BOARD: SPBU) announced today that the vast majority of its short term debt, due in November, has been extended through August of 2009. This agreement comes as Spare launches additional sales initiatives with DSG and various other previously disclosed partners. The company has paired expenses and sees additional revenue projected to commence in the 4th quarter which should provide positive cash flow from operations.
Spare has initiated cost cutting measures to reduce cash operating expenses by approximately 25%. The cuts will not affect current development initiatives, service or capacity. Management sees revenue ramping as DSG launches a comprehensive program in the fall, and orders are received for its recently deployed enterprise backup solutions.
Commenting on the event, Cery Perle, President and CEO of Spare Backup, Inc., stated, "We are grateful to our note holders for extending their debt until August of next year. Their faith in the growth plans of our company will enable Spare to move forward on more sound financial footing as this greatly reduces our short term cash needs. We are confident that our partnership with DSG and others will ramp significantly in the 4th quarter and have positioned our expenses to achieve sustainable operations based on current and projected sales. We believe these steps will lead our company on a path to profitability in 2009."

Middletown, Connecticut Residents to Benefit from Verizon Wireless Network ExpansionInvesting to Stay Ahead of Growing Demand for Wireless Voice, Multimedia and Internet Access
MIDDLETOWN, Conn., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents in Middletown County, Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site. The new site increases high-speed wireless data coverage and capacity along Route 9, Randolph Road, and South Main Street in Middletown, Connecticut, as well as the surrounding area.
Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services like BroadbandAccess and V CAST. Regionally the company has invested over $2.2 billion into its New England network, including over $100 million during the first six months of 2008. As a result of these investments, every Verizon Wireless cell site in New England provides wireless broadband connectivity.
"We've always believed that even the most advanced cell phone is only as good as the network it runs on," said director for Network Systems Performance for Verizon Wireless, Richard Enright. "We continue to aggressively invest into our wireless networks across New England to increase coverage and capacity for our customers."
BroadbandAccess offers computer users the nation's most reliable high-speed wireless mobile broadband network, operating at average upload speeds between 500 and 800 kbps, and download speeds between 600 kbps and 1.4 mbps over Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess with EV-DO Revision A network. V CAST brings video clips of TV shows, music on demand and other multimedia services to wireless phones.
Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the second quarter of 2008 as the company added 1.5 million net new customers and, for the fifteenth consecutive quarter, reported the lowest customer turnover (highest customer loyalty) rate in the wireless industry.
The company's 'nation's most reliable wireless network' reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the "can you hear me now" national advertising campaign. Nationally, these test men and women drive nearly 100 specially equipped vehicles almost 1,000,000 miles annually on Interstate, U.S. and state highways as well as major roads and surface streets in high-population areas, based upon U.S. Census counts, to confirm that voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

Law Firm Hunton & Williams Selects Open Text to Manage Conflicts and New Business IntakeProduct Functionality and Knowledge of Conflicts Management and Business Intake in Law Firms Key Factors in Decision
GRAPEVINE, TX, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ILTA '08 - Open Text(TM) , a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), today announced that global law firm Hunton & Williams LLP will replace its existing conflicts checking system with LegalKEY(R) Conflicts Management from Open Text. Open Text announced the news at the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Conference '08 underway this week at the Gaylord Texas Resort and Conference Center in Grapevine, Texas.
Hunton & Williams is a U.S. law firm with more than 1,000 attorneys that serve clients from 19 offices around the world. The firm receives high rankings in American Lawyer magazine's AmLaw 100 and Global 100 lists, and maintains its reputation for pro bono work.
The complexity of the task of analyzing potential client conflicts and screening new clients and matters has increased, as has Hunton & Williams' size and client roster. This growth and client expectations required the firm to enhance its ability to quickly identify and resolve potential conflicts. Likewise, this increasingly complex environment led the firm to seek out a replacement for its existing conflicts management system, which was a module of the firm's financial management system.
"It is a fast-paced world in all corners as it relates to our firm and any large law firm. Lawyers are looking for answers, not data, and clients are looking for a quick response," said Ed Hayes, business intake manager for Hunton & Williams.
"The firm has an experienced business intake team. We want them to have the best tools available to help identify and resolve ethical conflicts and sensitive business issues," added Kelly Faglioni, deputy general counsel and litigation partner at Hunton & Williams.
Conflicts checking and business intake systems are integral to lawyers' ethical mandate to avoid conflicts of interest, which contribute to claims and malpractice suits against law firms as well as motions to disqualify. These systems are also crucial to a firm's ability to continuously evaluate and update legal business processes to survive in the global marketplace.
"After thoroughly evaluating the various solutions, we chose Open Text's solution. Based on our research, the program provides the greatest functionality and demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the conflicts and business intake issues facing law firms," said Hayes.
Providing more efficiency in terms of controlling both the report and results output, the LegalKEY Conflicts Management system is expected to enhance client service by streamlining the conflicts clearing process. Attorneys will spend less time looking through stacks of paper and email messages. Instead, they will be able to simply drill down on a results list to identify potential conflicts, leaving more time for them to spend on billable work. In addition, the advanced search functionality of Open Text's solution will make it possible for the firm to quickly evaluate possible conflicts of interest associated with current and potential clients, as well as with new attorneys looking to join the firm.
Hunton & Williams will also use Open Text's Core Services Layer to deliver enhanced value to the firm's business processes. With Core Services Layer, Hunton & Williams will be able to effectively connect to the firm's existing business intake systems and databases to simplify and eliminate redundant data entry associated with multiple user interfaces. This feature will accelerate new business intake and help the firm make faster, more effective decisions by enabling attorneys and support staff to work within an intuitive and familiar environment to carry out tasks associated with new business intake.
"We are pleased to add such a prestigious firm as Hunton & Williams to our client list," said Mohit Thawani, Business Development Manager, Legal Solutions Group at Open Text. "We have a true understanding of the business of conflicts of interest issues and a commitment to providing our law firm customers with solutions that meet the changing needs of this dynamic market."

AT&T Expands International Data Offerings for iPhoneMore Data in More Countries for iPhone Users Traveling Abroad
DALLAS, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. today announced expanded international data offerings to help keep iPhone customers connected around the world. Beginning tomorrow, AT&T will offer two new plans that accommodate iPhone customers' increasing reliance on data services while traveling abroad. The two new plans, which offer 100 megabytes (MB) or 200 MB a month, can potentially save customers hundreds of dollars compared to pay-per-use international data roaming charges.
For discounted international data usage in 67 countries(1), the 100 MB iPhone plan is available for an additional $119.99 a month, while the 200 MB plan costs an additional $199.99 a month(2). These new plans are in addition to existing plans for smartphones, including iPhone, which offer 20 MB and 50 MB in the same countries. There are no long-term commitments required, so customers can add or remove these plans to their existing packages on an as-needed basis.
"AT&T has worked diligently to provide affordable options for international roaming because the feature-rich mobile experience of iPhone is indispensable to users," said Bill Hague, executive vice president of International for AT&T's wireless operations. "With these new international data plans, iPhone users can access more data in more countries for less cost."
With the largest global footprint of any wireless provider, only AT&T customers can make and receive calls in more than 200 countries and send e-mail and browse the Web in more than 150 countries, including more than 60 countries with high speed third-generation (3G) coverage. AT&T also offers voice and data coverage on 120 major cruise ships.
iPhone 3G is one of more than 40 world devices AT&T offers, more than any other U.S. wireless service provider. AT&T customers can take their new iPhone 3G devices around the world, including Japan and South Korea, which require a device that operates on 2100 MHz.
With access to full HTML e-mail, visual voice mail, enhanced Web browsing and other feature-rich applications that can use a significant amount of data, iPhone users may need more than they think while traveling abroad. Just 2 MB of data use at pay-per-use data rates of $0.0195 per kilobyte would cost almost $40, making these new plans very valuable for customers traveling outside the U.S.
iPhone customers can also save money by following some simple tips, including keeping data roaming in the preset off position, using Wi-Fi when possible, turning off automatic checks for e-mail and setting the usage tracker to zero at the beginning of a trip to monitor use.
To help travelers stay connected and manage their wireless costs, AT&T offers a variety of resources. AT&T's Travel Guide (http://www.att.com/travelguide) allows customers to create an itinerary with rate information for up to 10 international destinations as well as review discounted voice and data packages.

Verizon Business Helps EducatorsCompany Offers Tips on How to Get the Most From Technology Budgets
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- From e-mail to E-rate, back-to-school preparations for educators include making the most of their technology dollars.
Today, the educational toolbox includes much more than books and binders or chalk and erasers. Teachers, students and parents alike have embraced laptop computers, mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) -- in and out of the classroom -- all powered by advanced broadband connectivity.
"As technology becomes ever more important for learning, administrators are looking for the best ways to leverage advanced communications in the classroom and beyond," said Alex Coleman, group president for Verizon Business government and education markets. "Achieving top grades for your technology investment starts with good planning.''
Coleman and his team of experts offer these 10 suggestions for making the most of technology in the classroom or on campus:
Fiber is Good for You -- Higher education institutions and school districts should deploy fiber-optic networks to enhance the reach and reliability of network infrastructure. With a solid foundation built on fiber, school districts and institutions of higher education have a strong base to introduce advanced services to serve education needs for years to come.
And Don't Forget Your Greens -- To hold the line on energy costs and meet environmental goals, school district administrators can look for ways to use technology to reduce commuting times or time spent in a vehicle. Virtual field trips can replace bus trips, showing students the world using the power of Internet protocol (IP) and video conferencing while reducing carbon emissions. The California Department of Parks and Recreation, for example, is using IP to implement a program for students and teachers to study state parks online. The curriculum includes a live video conference with a park ranger or viewing live video from distant locations such as the desert or tide pools or parks on the coast. (To view a video on the effort in California, go to: http://www.verizonbusiness.com/resources/1002a3a9-111.xml?urlid=129194 .)
Ethernet Provides a Building Block -- Schools across the nation are upgrading old copper asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks or frame relay networks to fiber-optic-based Ethernet networks. The new networks provide the crucial speed and reliability that enable truly collaborative classrooms. Ethernet provides a high-speed on ramp for students to access the Internet and expand their learning options.
Manage Networks Wirelessly -- Schools and campuses are using wireless technology to quickly and securely extend the reach of local area networks (LANs) within buildings around campus. Verizon Business Managed Wireless LAN (WLAN) Service enables teachers, students or staff members to access networks, applications and data - whether they are at a desk, in a lab or in the cafeteria.
Think of Learning as an Event, not a Place -- Use technology to maximize the time spent in the classroom. Deploy distance learning technology such as video conferencing to expand the reach of the campus beyond school boundaries - either across the state or around the world. For instance, a school district with a shortage of math instructors could use video conferencing technology to enable the teacher to reach a larger virtual classroom or allow students to connect with students in another country to learn about their culture and customs. Many school districts rely on Verizon Business and its relationship with Texas A&M University to work collaboratively to transform existing educational models by developing new distance education applications and supporting research and evaluation as well as professional development, technical assistance and consultation.
Safety First -- While physical security is important, educators must also consider network security. To protect themselves against e hackers or other cyberthreats, educators should consider network-based security solutions to secure the flow of data in and out of the school - whether it is intellectual property, identities or credit card data. (To listen to a podcast on how Adelphi University is helping faculty and students foster collaboration securely go to: http://www.verizonbusiness.com/resources/1002a3a6-111.xml?urlid=129036 .)
Notification Services Are Vital in a Mobile Campus Life -- In the event of unforeseen campus events and disruptions such as snow storms, floods, schedule changes or other issues, universities are turning to emergency notification services to quickly alert thousands of students, faculty and staff members. The capabilities allow the organization to personalize and customize communications to more effectively manage changing conditions; students can be immediately alerted via text or voice messages, e-mail or a combination of these methods. The text-messaging options make this system ideal for students and other highly mobile groups.
Leverage E-Rate Funding to Modernize Infrastructure -- School districts across the nation are looking to leverage the federal E-rate Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) annual discount program as they deploy Internet and voice-over-IP (VoIP) services. Verizon Business is one of the nation's leading participants in the program, with more than 10 years of E-rate experience in working with K-12 clients nationwide.
Thinkfinity.org Helps Make the Grade -- The Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, supports the advancement of literacy and K-12 education through its signature program, Thinkfinity.org. Thinkfinity.org is the Verizon Foundation's comprehensive program and online portal to 55,000 standards-based, grade-specific, K-12 lesson plans and other educational resources provided in partnership with many of the nation's leading educational and literacy organizations.
Partner With the Top of Their Class -- Select vendors with resources and strong track records for rapid deployment of new technology to meet long-term educational goals. Educators and IT administrators can deploy new IP services quickly and efficiently via many Verizon Business existing contract vehicles. Verizon Business is an endorsed provider of MiCTA, a telecommunications nonprofit association that aggregates common IP services for its members at a competitive price. As an endorsed provider, Verizon Business can offer MiCTA members a volume discount in pricing and a simplified contracting process.
Verizon Business is one of the largest providers of advanced communications and information technology services around the world. The company offers local-to-global network capabilities coupled with a broad range of telecommunications products and services -- including advanced Internet protocol (IP) services, managed network services and systems integration -- to all levels of government.
