    Sikorsky's UH-60M Upgrade BLACK HAWK Helicopter Achieves First Flight

    WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. today successfully completed the first flight of its UH-60M Upgrade BLACK HAWK helicopter. The UH-60M Upgrade is currently the only fly-by-wire rotary wing aircraft in flight test development within the Department of the Army. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. .

    In a test flight that lasted approximately 60 minutes, Sikorsky Chief Test Pilots Mike Skaggs and Steve Silder maneuvered the aircraft through a variety of exercises including hover, forward flight, and a hover turn. The test flight was conducted at Sikorsky's West Palm Beach facility in Florida.

    Sikorsky President Jeffrey P. Pino said today's milestone represents a major step forward in the company's continuing efforts to provide the U.S. military with superior technology.

    The UH-60M BLACK HAWK has become an integral part of the U.S. Army's command and control system, providing brigade commanders with real time digital situational awareness and command and control options. UH-60M Upgrade crews will benefit from a new standard of protection resulting from reduced pilot workload through the fly-by-wire system, and improved pilot situational awareness and aircraft handling qualities for more precise control in degraded visual environments.

    Among the innovative technologies the UH-60M Upgrade BLACK HAWK helicopter employs are:

    -- Fly-by-wire flight control system that incorporates "active stick" technology and dual channel - triple redundant flight control computers

    -- Glass cockpit which incorporates the Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS)

    -- Fully authorized digital engine control (FADEC)

    Fly-by-wire flight control systems electronically link the controls inside the cockpit with the exterior actuators, the movement of which enable the aircraft to maneuver where and how the pilot intends. Eliminating the traditional mechanical linkage saves weight, reduces maintenance costs, adds capability and improves performance.

    Celebrate Express, Inc. Completes Merger

    KIRKLAND, Wash., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Celebrate Express, Inc. today announced that it has completed the merger with a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation.

    At the special meeting of Celebrate Express shareholders held on August 28, 2008, votes were received for approximately 79% of the eligible shares, and the proposal to adopt the merger agreement and merger received a favorable vote from approximately 79% of the outstanding shares.

    On August 29, 2008, articles of merger were filed with the office of the Secretary of State for Washington, and Celebrate Express became an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation.

    Fans attending Oakland A's home games through August 30, 2008, are invited to donate used wireless phones and accessories to the Verizon Wireless HopeLine(R) program to benefit survivors of domestic violence.     GeoEye to Launch World's Highest Resolution Commercial Earth-Imaging Satellite Sept. 4, 2008GeoEye-1 Satellite Launch to be Broadcast on the Internet

    DULLES, Va., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GeoEye, Inc. , a premier provider of satellite, aerial and geospatial information, announced today the launch of the world's highest resolution, commercial Earth-imaging satellite is scheduled for Sept. 4, 2008, from Space Launch Complex-2 at Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB), California. The planned launch time is 11:50:57 a.m. PDT (2:50:57 p.m. EDT). A Flight Readiness Review was conducted on Aug. 28 and the launch vehicle, launch range, the GeoEye-1 satellite, and all other program elements are ready for launch.

    GeoEye-1 will be lifted into a near-polar orbit by a 12-story-tall United Launch Alliance Delta II 7420-10 configuration launch vehicle. The launch vehicle and associate support services were procured by Boeing Launch Services. The GeoEye-1 satellite is expected to deploy the spacecraft approximately 58 minutes after liftoff and will reach its proper orbit about 90 minutes after launch. In order to achieve the proper orbit, the launch window will only be open for 84 seconds. Once in orbit, GeoEye-1 will undergo system calibration and testing. The company expects to offer imagery and products to customers in the mid- to late-October timeframe.

    The GeoEye-1 Satellite

    GeoEye-1, designed and built by General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, is the world's highest resolution commercial imaging satellite. Designed to take color images of the Earth from 423 miles (681 kilometers) in space and moving at a speed of about four-and-a-half miles (seven kilometers) per second, the satellite will make 15 earth orbits per day and collect imagery with its ITT-built imaging system that can distinguish objects on the Earth's surface as small as 0.41-meters (16 inches) in size in the panchromatic (black and white) mode. The 4,300-pound satellite will also be able to collect multispectral or color imagery at 1.65-meter ground resolution. While the satellite will be able to collect imagery at 0.41-meters, GeoEye's operating license from NOAA requires re-sampling the imagery to half-meter resolution for all customers not explicitly granted a waiver by the U.S. Government.

    The satellite will be able to see an object the size of home plate on a baseball diamond but also map the location of an object that size to within about nine feet (three meters) of its true location on the surface of the Earth without need for ground control points. Together, GeoEye's IKONOS and GeoEye-1 satellites can collect almost one million square kilometers of imagery per day.

    With the ability to revisit any location on the globe every three days, and at lesser resolution more frequently, GeoEye-1 will enable customers to receive imagery updates on a regular basis and is ideal for large-scale mapping projects. This capability will benefit a broad array of industries including national defense and intelligence, online mapping, state and local governments, environmental monitoring and land use management, oil and gas, utilities, disaster management, insurance and others.

The feed will continue until about one hour after launch or until the satellite has successfully separated from the Delta II.

    Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne to Launch Next-Generation of Commercial Satellite to Map, Measure and Monitor the Earth

    CANOGA PARK, Calif., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne, a United Technologies Corp. company, will help scientists map, measure and monitor the environment by boosting the next-generation GeoEye-1 commercial satellite into orbit from Vandenberg Air Force Base on Sept. 4. GeoEye-1 will be onboard a United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket, procured by Boeing Launch Services, which will be powered by Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne's RS-27A engine. It will be the 224th flight boosted by the RS-27 family of engines.

    GeoEye-1 will have .41-meter resolution (in the panchromatic mode), which is the highest resolution of any commercial imaging system in the world. The satellite is designed to map natural and man-made features to within three meters of their actual location on Earth without ground control points. This degree of accuracy has never been achieved in a commercial image system, and may be applied to everything from national and homeland security, to natural resource and environmental monitoring.

    Hitachi Faces Dallas Federal Lawsuit Over HD Television DefectsClass-action could involve tens of thousands of Hitachi TV owners

    DALLAS, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Law Offices of Heygood, Orr, Reyes, Pearson & Bartolomei in Dallas has filed a lawsuit against the American subsidiary of Japanese consumer electronics giant Hitachi over alleged defects in the company's high-definition television sets. According to the lawsuit, tens of thousands of consumers who bought the high-end TVs may be experiencing the same trouble.

    Plaintiff Anthony Partida of Dallas says he and other owners of Hitachi's 50V500A model LCD rear projection television are experiencing a design defect that creates green "blobs," red "blooms," green haze, blue dots, yellow lines and other color anomalies on their TV screens. The lawsuit, which seeks class-action status on behalf of every owner of the 50V500A model, says the defect makes the televisions useless for their intended purpose.

    In the lawsuit against Hitachi America Ltd., filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, attorneys for Mr. Partida say Hitachi has known of the defect since early 2005, but the company has continued to sell the defective sets. Despite the company's knowledge of the problem, the lawsuit continues, Hitachi has been unable or unwilling to develop a solution.

    "Hitachi has been more than willing to take people's money for these TV sets and they should be more than willing to fix them," says attorney Eric D. Pearson of Heygood, Orr, Reyes, Pearson & Bartolomei, who represents Mr. Partida in the case. "In some cases, people paid $3,500 or more for these TVs.     Poll Reveals Fifty Percent of College Students Seek a Plan to Decrease Their Debt- 18-21 year olds cite financial stress, juggle 2-3 credit cards in college -

    ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Even though 84 percent of college students say they are educated about money management and understand the consequences of debt, 50 percent wish they had a plan to help decrease their debt, according to a new poll for Western Union(R) Payment Services conducted by Javelin Research. The poll reveals that personal finance issues, including debt, have a significant impact on college students.

    One in four college students ages 18-21 have two to three credit cards, and nearly one-third (29 percent) say it will be difficult to keep up with expenses at college because they are already in debt. In addition, 15 percent even admit that their grades have suffered as a result of debt they owe.

    Aside from their current financial strain, college students are already anticipating more debt in the future: 42 percent surveyed say they will be at least $10,000 in debt by the time they graduate. This includes 22 percent who say they will be at least $30,000 in debt.

    SRS Labs, Inc. Commences $10 Million Dutch Auction Tender Offer

    SANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SRS Labs, Inc. announced today that it has commenced its previously announced "Dutch auction" tender offer for up to $10 million in value of its common stock at a price within (and including) the range of $5.75 to $6.50 per share, which may allow up to 1,739,130 shares, or approximately 11 percent of the Company's outstanding common stock, to be acquired through the tender offer. On August 28, 2008, the last trading day preceding the commencement of the tender offer, the closing sales price of the Company's common stock was $5.90 per share. The tender offer will expire at 5:00 p.m. New York City time, on September 29, 2008, unless extended by the Company.

    The modified Dutch auction tender offer allows stockholders to indicate how many of their shares and at what price within the $5.75 to $6.50 range they wish to tender. Based on the number of shares tendered and the prices specified by the tendering stockholders, SRS will select the lowest single per share purchase price within the range that will enable it to purchase up to $10 million in value of its common stock, or a lower amount depending on the number of shares that are properly tendered.     P&G Announces Internet Availability of 2008 Annual Meeting Proxy MaterialsAdoption of 'Notice and Access' Model Expected to Deliver Sustainability Benefits and Cost Savings

    CINCINNATI, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Procter & Gamble Company announced today the Internet availability of proxy materials for its 2008 Annual Meeting of Shareholders via the Notice and Access model provided in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proxy rules. Under the Notice and Access model, companies may furnish proxy materials to shareholders by posting them on an Internet website and providing shareholders with notice of the availability of the proxy materials. The proxy materials delivered under this new model include the 2008 Notice of Annual Meeting, the Proxy Statement and the 2008 Annual Report.

    P&G is committed to delivering value for its shareholders and reducing the environmental footprint of its operations. Adopting the SEC's Notice and Access model for delivery of proxy materials supports both of these objectives. This year's online annual report will provide new functionality and multimedia content that make it easier than ever for shareholders to understand P&G's results and capability to sustain growth. P&G expects to reduce the printed copies of the annual report and proxy materials by as much as 80 percent, saving up to 250 million printed pages plus the energy and expense to produce and deliver those materials while also providing enhanced online information.
