Campus MovieFest and AT&T Launch 2008-2009 World TourLargest Student Film Festival Provides Moviemaking Opportunity to More Than 750,000 College Students at Campuses Nationwide Using AT&T Products and Services

ATLANTA and DALLAS, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Campus MovieFest (CMF), the world's largest student film festival, and AT&T Inc. announced today the launch of CMF's 2008-2009 World Tour, beginning in Berkeley, Calif. Presented by AT&T, CMF has provided more than 150,000 young filmmakers with free resources since the festival began in 2000, allowing aspiring students to share their short films with a worldwide audience. This year, CMF will bring more schools, prizes, industry opportunities and exposure to the festival, as well as a new focus on music as the program travels to more than 50 colleges and universities and four countries. The festival will culminate in June 2009 at the CMF International Grand Finale in Los Angeles, where the best films from Los Angeles to New York and Scotland to Cannes will be showcased.

Campus MovieFest began at Emory University in Atlanta when four students teamed up to create an event with the goal of helping fellow students tell their unique stories. CMF has spread to more than 24 cities, including Atlanta; San Francisco; San Jose, Calif.; Sonoma, Calif.; Palo Alto, Calif.; Davis, Calif.; Los Angeles; Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Athens, Ga.; Orlando, Fla.; Tampa, Fla.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Boston; New York; St Andrews, Scotland; Rosarito, Mexico; and Cannes, France.

This year, the tour will extend to include Seattle; Austin, Texas; Irvine, Calif.; Durham, N.C.; Birmingham, Ala.; Chicago; Washington, D.C., and more. CMF will reach more than 750,000 students on participating campuses and will provide the opportunity to create movies to more than 50,000 students, many of whom are first-time filmmakers.

Student teams participating in Campus MovieFest can use the latest AT&T and Apple products and services for one week at no charge. AT&T is equipping student teams with video-enabled 3G phones and encouraging them to use some of AT&T's newest products and applications, such as Video Share(SM), JuiceCaster and location-based mobile GPS services, within the films through the "AT&T Best Use of Mobile" category. The winners will receive prizes including new AT&T video phones and $250 AT&T gift cards for team leaders.

Additionally, as the official wireless sponsor of CMF, AT&T will exclusively showcase content from the festival, including the top film winners, on its CV mobile video platform and through Video Downloads on the AT&T MEdia Mall -- a unique way for the student films to reach a greater audience of AT&T's 73 million wireless customers. AT&T has even teamed up with Guitar Hero(R) III to bring the mobile version of the game to participating CMF campuses. Contestants can battle students across the country for a chance to win prizes like a Nintendo Wii with Guitar Hero. Students can text GH3 to 386 to get the game on their AT&T phone.

Students will also be able to use the latest Apple laptops equipped with Final Cut Studio and iMovie '08 software in addition to digital video camcorders and accessories. Teams will be allotted one week at each campus with 24/7 support to write, film and edit their films. The judges will then determine the top movies to be shown at red carpet finales, with the winners from each school moving on to the CMF Regional Grand Finales in San Francisco, Atlanta and New York, followed by the CMF International Grand Finale in Hollywood. Prizes will include more than $400,000 in Apple laptops, software, iPods, AT&T gift cards, cash and trips for the students to meet industry executives for a chance to pursue their dreams in filmmaking.

"We couldn't be more fortunate to have the chance to empower so many talented and creative young people worldwide, while connecting them with the tools and people who can help them follow their passions," said David Roemer, co-founder of Campus MovieFest. "Someday we'll get a real job; until then, CMF continues to grow beyond our wildest dreams."

Patrick Burns, executive director of National Marketing for AT&T's wireless unit, said: "CMF provides us with an outstanding opportunity to connect these students with some of the best products and services we offer -- from our applications like AT&T Video Share and JuiceCaster to our latest handsets. We think it will provide an extraordinary experience for these students. It's a chance to show how our unique offerings can empower people to tell their stories, flex their talents and achieve their goals."

Additionally, Virgin America, the official airline of Campus MovieFest, showcases top short CMF movies at 35,000 feet on Red, its industry-leading in-flight entertainment system. All CMF movies are showcased online at http://www.campusmoviefest.com/, as well as through partner sites. Top CMF movies have been viewed more than 15 million times with coverage from "The Today Show," Diane Sawyer and CNN.

CMF will announce winners in the Best Picture, Best Comedy, Best Drama and Best Use of Mobile categories, and it is especially proud to offer the Elfenworks Social Justice Award, which delivers cash grants from The Elfenworks Foundation to top teams that address solutions for domestic poverty. Additionally, AT&T-powered text voting at each finale determines CMF Audience Choice Award winners. CMF will once again award its coveted CMF Golden Tripod Award to industry leaders.

After having ignited moviemaking revolutions at college campuses worldwide, Campus MovieFest is now expanding to create similar impacts for student musicians through Campus MusicFest. With a successful pilot program in New York in spring 2008, the nationwide launch of Campus MusicFest in September provides students with the opportunity to create their own music, win exceptional prizes and gain exposure in the music industry. AT&T is enabling selected Campus MusicFest participants to have their original music turned into ringtones that can be purchased on AT&T MEdia Mall. About Campus MovieFest

Like a story from a classic Hollywood film, Campus MovieFest (CMF) came from humble beginnings before becoming the world's largest student film festival and the premier outlet for today's greatest student filmmakers. In 2000, four friends attending Emory University set out to make a difference by providing Apple laptops, camcorders, and a week for students to translate their stories onto film. More than 150,000 students around the world have since participated, receiving all the necessary technology and training for free, thanks to corporate partners. The 2008 - 2009 CMF Tour includes over 50 events worldwide featuring 50,000 student movie-makers, red carpet finales and over $400,000 in prizes. Z Trim Lightens the Menu Labeling Legislation Issue at Mid-Atlantic Food Expo, September 17 & 18Joins with Students from Baltimore's NAF High School to Demonstrate How Z Trim Can Improve the Nutritional Profiles and Tastes of Sauces and Desserts in Booth #165

MUNDELEIN, Ill., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Z Trim Holdings, Inc. announced today that it will partner with students from the Hospitality and Tourism Academy of Baltimore's National Academy Foundation (NAF) High School to demonstrate its multifunctional fiber food ingredient at the Mid-Atlantic Food, Beverage, and Lodging Expo, the largest trade show on the East Coast, attracting thousands of attendees and hundreds of exhibitors from New York to Florida.

As the prospect of menu labeling legislation continues to loom in local pockets throughout the nation, Z Trim's brand equity is resonating louder with young people beginning careers in the food industry, as well as with established restaurant chefs, owners and vendors.

"I use Z Trim in X and Y because it is taste neutral and enables me to replace fat with natural dietary fiber while providing the essential textures that my customer's love," said Chef Drew Rosen, President of Fresh Foods Cafe in Long Beach, California. "Good tasting foods that are fresh and nutritious are the crux of our business, so Z Trim is essential to many of my recipes," he said. "Before long, I'm sure restaurants throughout the nation will discover how Z Trim can be easily incorporated into the most successful menu items they make from scratch, or as an ingredient in finished foods from their preferred vendors," he added.

Z Trim gives restaurants the flexibility to improve the nutritional profiles of a host of successful menu items across categories, according to Phil Versten, VP of Marketing and Communications for Z Trim Holdings, Inc. "The issue concerning menu legislation and ingredient bans is mostly about fat and calories," he said. "Regardless what legislation passes here or is defeated there, the continuing introduction of such bills speaks to a larger social concern that happens to be politically expedient," he added. "Many in the food manufacturing and foodservice industries view our multifunctional fiber ingredients as a way to get past the issue because we can easily, naturally, and economically improve the nutritional profiles of the menu items that built their businesses, without impacting taste. With full taste and better nutrition, the issue fades."

A host of food manufacturing companies have begun rolling out finished products containing Z Trim to both retail and foodservice. For example, the Salad Bar line of dressings manufactured by Ken's Foods will be on display as well at the Z Trim booth. Ken's created the line using Z Trim multifunctional fiber in place of certain oils and gums, thereby maintaining a clean label without sacrificing taste and texture. The line was originally created for use in specific school districts. For many people, the significantly reduced fat dressings with Z Trim are indistinguishable from their full fat counterparts.

Although Z Trim has been showcasing Z Trim-enhanced products from a variety of large and small food manufacturers at food shows of late, Z Trim has opted to work with the Restaurant Association of Maryland's Hospitality Education Foundation (MHEF) for this show.

"We heard that Z Trim was an innovative company that might be receptive to working with our ProStart program," said LaDeana Litchfield, Director of Workforce Development for the Restaurant Association of Maryland's Hospitality Education Foundation (MHEF). "We applaud Z Trim for recognizing that the future of the industry is with these ProStart students," she added. "It's a great opportunity for our students to work with a healthy product like Z Trim."

Z Trim is thrilled with the opportunity. "We want to respond to young, creative people interested in bringing sensible and innovative solutions into the field with them as they graduate," Versten said. "We're happy to introduce the ProStart participants to the versatility and attributes of our multifunctional ingredient."

ProStart is a national program whose curriculum is written by the NRA. The MHEF ProStart program has recruited students from Baltimore's National Academy Foundation (NAF) High School to prepare a cheese sauce Queso dip with substantially reduced fat. Their preparation will take place on the demo stage on Wednesday September 17th at 3:15pm on the Nation's Restaurant News Chef Demo Stage under the guidance of Chef/Instructor Steve Hinnant. As well, the students will make mini pumpkin muffins that Z Trim will sample at booth #165.

Shamong, N.J., Residents to Benefit from Verizon Wireless Network ExpansionInvesting to Stay Ahead of Growing Demand for Wireless Calling, Data Access, and Music

SHAMONG, N.J., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for residents in Shamong, Verizon Wireless has expanded its network with a new cell site. The new site increases coverage and capacity along Route 206 and Atsion Road.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services like BroadbandAccess and V CAST. The company spent more than $235 million in 2007 to enhance services and coverage in the Philadelphia Tri-State Region, bringing the total network investment in the region to more than $1.5 billion since 2000.

Verizon Wireless's high-speed third generation wireless broadband network has been enhanced with EV-DO Rev. A technology. This enhancement allows customers who use the company's flagship business data service, BroadbandAccess, to interact with Web-based applications, download music over-the-air, and access to e-mail and the Internet at speeds that are eight to nine times faster than before. BroadbandAccess customers with Rev. A compatible devices can now expect average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. V CAST brings video clips of TV shows, music on demand and other multimedia services to wireless phones over Verizon Wireless' high-speed EV-DO network.

Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the second quarter of 2008 as the company added 1.5 million net new customers and, for the 15th consecutive quarter, led the wireless industry in customer loyalty. The company posted a churn (customer turnover) rate of just 1.1 percent, setting an industry and company record.

Verizon Wireless tests its network and those of its competitors to ensure its network remains the nation's most reliable. Nationally, the company's real-life test men and women drive 98 specially equipped vehicles almost one million miles annually on Interstate, U.S. and state highways as well as major roads and surface streets in high-population areas, based upon U.S. Census counts, to determine if voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

POTSDAM, N.Y., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents in St. Lawrence County, Verizon Wireless has expanded its network with a new cell site in Louisville. The new site improves coverage and capacity north of Waddington along Route 37 to Patterson Road.

This network expansion is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless' voice and data services. The company has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services.

Services include wireless data services such as picture messaging, text messaging, V CAST and V CAST Music with Rhapsody, ESPN MVP and BroadbandAccess, the company's high-speed wireless broadband network geared toward mobile professionals and business customers. It provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second, and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.

Verizon Wireless, the wireless company with the highest customer loyalty, reported the lowest customer turnover (highest customer loyalty) rate in the industry -- 1.1 percent in the second quarter -- for the 15th consecutive quarter.

The company's nation's most reliable wireless network reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country. These engineers drive 90 specially equipped vehicles almost 1 million miles annually on Interstate, U.S. and state highways, as well as major roads and surface streets. Test vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than 3 million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

Last year, Verizon Wireless introduced its 30-day Test Drive, an industry first that lets customers experience its network virtually risk-free for 30 days. If customers are not satisfied with their experience and take their number to another carrier, Verizon Wireless will refund their money for calls, equipment, activation fee and taxes. TI launches Kilby Labs to deliver breakthrough semiconductor technologyNew innovation center builds on Jack Kilby's legacy of invention

DALLAS, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) announced its new "Kilby Labs" today, a center of innovation designed to foster creative ideas for breakthrough semiconductor technology. Launched on September 12, the 50th anniversary of the integrated circuit, the new labs will build on IC inventor Jack Kilby's legacy of revolutionizing our lives through chip innovation.

Kilby Labs will be located on TI's Dallas North Campus and is inspired by the original TI lab, where Kilby first designed the chip that opened the door to 3G cell phones, portable ultrasound machines and automotive antilock braking systems. The new facility, though, will bring together university researchers and leading TI engineers to discover life-changing opportunities for semiconductor technology. From creating new ways to make health care more mobile to harnessing new power sources to enabling more fuel-efficient vehicles, researchers at the Kilby Labs will focus on developing chip advances that make a difference.

"All of us at TI believe that technologies that significantly impact our lives are the right technologies for our business," said Rich Templeton, Chairman and CEO of TI, at the launch celebration held at the Semiconductor Building on TI's North Campus. "The power to help make the world healthier, safer, greener and more fun is what gets us excited about chip innovation, and why we come to work every day at TI. It's what motivated Jack Kilby to build the first IC and why he was able to transform the world through his ideas and inventions."

"Our vision for Kilby Labs," said Gregg Lowe, TI senior vice president and the project's executive sponsor, "is that it will combine TI's experience in developing new chip technologies and our understanding of customer needs with the dreams of a new generation of innovators. Technology springs from imagination, and we want to create an environment where people can both imagine a better world and help build it. The best way we can celebrate Jack's contributions is by providing people with the opportunity to carry on his work and find new ways for a tiny chip to dramatically improve millions of lives around the world."

TI has named Ajith Amerasekera as director of its new Kilby Labs. Ajith, who is a TI Fellow, joined the company in 1991 and holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Physics. FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. has announced a planned investment of nearly $50 million in the Massachusetts wireless network in 2008.

As part of the 2008 investment plan, AT&T will bring its 3G mobile broadband network to more cities and towns in Massachusetts -- giving consumers and businesses significantly enhanced in-building coverage, mobile broadband-like wireless data speeds and access to the latest interactive voice, video and data applications. By year end, the company will add 3G technology to 214 cell sites in the state.

Even prior to this year's expansion, the company's 3G network already covered a large portion of the state -- including most of the metropolitan areas such as greater Boston and along the Route 128 belt, on Route 495 through the North Attleboro area and up towards Marlborough, and to the west in Worcester and Springfield as well as on Cape Cod and the Islands. This year's investment represents a 35% year-over-year increase in AT&T's Massachusetts 3G coverage.

In addition to expanding its 3G network, AT&T plans to add six new cell sites in Massachusetts this year. Several sites have already gone live, including those in South Natick, Andover and Hampden. New coverage will also be added in Quincy near Marina Bay, in Grafton along Route 140 as well as in the town of Swampscott.

"AT&T is reaffirming its commitment to Massachusetts and continues to deliver significant benefits to consumers and businesses across the state -- a direct result of the company's efforts to expand and enhance its network operations and the synergies that come from being part of the world's leading communications company," said Michelle Consalvo, vice president of external affairs for AT&T in Massachusetts. "Our 2008 technology investment is a tangible measure of our desire to provide our customers with unsurpassed service and delivers on our promise to further innovation that will help grow the state's overall economic well being."

"It is our goal to ensure that AT&T customers in Massachusetts and all over the country have the very best wireless experience possible -- which includes great coverage and quality of service," said Steve Krom, vice president and general manager for AT&T's wireless operations in New England. "Our ongoing investment in the Massachusetts network provides our customers with the benefits of a state-of-the-art mobile voice and data network, along with cutting-edge wireless devices."

These faster network speeds let customers download a 5 MB file in 25 seconds and a three minute song (about 3MB) in 15 seconds. AT&T operates the nation's fastest 3G network, according to data compiled by leading independent wireless research firms.

AT&T 3G network is now available in 320 U.S. major metropolitan areas. The company will deliver 3G service to nearly 350 leading U.S. markets by the end of 2008.
