    Pearson Announces Pilot Program Results for New Pearson Test of English

    LONDON, September 24 /PRNewswire/ --

    Pearson today announced that it has successfully completed the final stage of the worldwide pilot program for its new computer-based international academic English language test, Pearson Test of English (PTE).

    Pilot testing enabled Pearson to gather information about the technical functioning of the test administration hardware and software. Pearson received valuable feedback about the full range of innovative and integrated item types and obtained direct feedback on test takers' experience and perceptions of the test.

    U.S. Appeals Court Affirms Jury Verdict That Qualcomm Infringes Two Broadcom Patents

    IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Broadcom Corporation , a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, announced that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit today upheld a unanimous jury verdict that Qualcomm Incorporated cellular chips and software infringe two Broadcom(R) patents, and upheld the injunction entered by the district court on those two patents. The appeals court also rejected Qualcomm's request for a new trial. The court ruled that a third patent was invalid.

    "The appeals court's decision is a major victory for Broadcom in our ongoing effort to protect our intellectual property," said David Rosmann, Broadcom Vice President, Intellectual Property Litigation.

    Broadcom filed the infringement case in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana, Calif., in May 2005. On May 29, 2007, a unanimous jury returned a verdict finding that Qualcomm infringed three Broadcom patents and awarded past damages to Broadcom. Late last year, U.S. District Court Judge James V. Selna issued an injunction against Qualcomm designed to stop the company from continuing its infringement of the three Broadcom patents.

    In August 2008, Judge Selna found Qualcomm in contempt of his injunction by, among other things, failing to pay royalties to Broadcom on infringing QChat(R) products. Citing the "egregiousness" of Qualcomm's conduct, the court ordered Qualcomm to pay Broadcom the gross profits Qualcomm has earned on its infringing QChat(R) products. Judge Selna further ordered Qualcomm to pay Broadcom's attorneys fees in connection with the contempt proceedings.

    The two patents that the appeals court upheld are U.S. Patent No. 5,657,317, which the jury found infringed by Qualcomm's EV-DO technology, and U.S. Patent No. 6,389,010, which the jury found infringed by Qualcomm's QChat chips and software. The third patent, held invalid, is U.S. Patent No. 6,847,686, which relates to video processing technology.

    The Santa Ana case is one of several cases in which Broadcom continues to pursue claims against Qualcomm regarding patent infringement, anti-competitive behavior and fraud issues. Qualcomm has either lost or withdrawn all of the patent infringement cases it brought against Broadcom.

    In August of 2008, the Company announced the negotiations for its first acquisition as well as a Letter-of-Intent to purchase a recurring-revenue contract in the "Quadruple-Play" market-space.

    Interact Holdings Group, Inc. is in continued discussions with the potential acquisition candidate. The Company does not anticipate the finalization of terms and closing of the acquisition until the 1st Quarter of 2009. The potential acquisition is a leader in the "Quadruple-Play" market-space and would add $9 million in annual revenues to Interact Holdings Group, Inc. in 2009.

    The Company has rescinded its offer to purchase the recurring-revenue contract announced on August 26th, 2008. In completing its due-diligence, the purchase price of the contract would have not have provided a sufficient return-on-investment in years one through four. The Company is currently performing due-diligence on other contracts which provide the same service, but would allow the Company to realize a return-on-investment within 12 months.     Pearson Announces Pilot Program Results for New Pearson Test of English

    LONDON, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Pearson today announced that it has successfully completed the final stage of the worldwide pilot program for its new computer-based international academic English language test, Pearson Test of English (PTE).

    Pilot testing enabled Pearson to gather information about the technical functioning of the test administration hardware and software. Pearson received valuable feedback about the full range of innovative and integrated item types and obtained direct feedback on test takers' experience and perceptions of the test.

    The NAVIKNOT 600 series of products, which are being marketed under the Sperry Marine brand, are based on a new satellite speed sensor that yields dual axis speed over ground.

    The satellite speed log can serve as a standalone device or be integrated with a single-axis electromagnetic or Doppler speed log. The three-way satellite-electromagnetic-Doppler combination provides maximum built-in flexibility and redundancy.

    The NAVIKNOT 600 systems use a twin GPS antenna array to measure the ship's heading, velocity, course and attitude. The unit's processor uses the GPS data, integrated with output from rate gyros, to calculate longitudinal and transverse speed over ground with accuracy of +/- 1 percent or 0.1 knots, whichever is greater. In the docking mode, the display shows a graphic diagram with rate of turn, bow and stern side-to-side speed over ground and other useful data.

    Interplay Launches New Web Site; Adds Chris Taylor to Growing Development Team
