More Cable TV Choice for Consumers in Bellingham, Mass.Thousands More Consumers, Small Businesses now can Order Verizon's FiOS TV, the Only TV Service Delivered over the Nation's Most Advanced Fiber-Optic Network Straight to ConsumersNew FiOS TV Residential Customers Eligible for a Free High-Def DVR for 12 Months and Free Month of HBO and Cinemax
BELLINGHAM, Mass., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning today, consumers and small businesses in Bellingham have more choice in cable TV providers now that Verizon has introduced FiOS TV, making a broad range of programming choices and superior picture quality available to thousands more Bay Staters.
Bellingham is among 80 Massachusetts communities (see list below) where the company's new television service is offered - the only TV service delivered over the nation's most advanced all-fiber network directly connecting to millions of individual homes and businesses.
Recently, Verizon announced that it has added 75 more channels, including 55 more high-definition (HD) channels, to its FiOS TV lineup in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. As a result, FiOS TV now offers more than 400 channels - including 85 HD channels, more than any local cable TV company, including Comcast.
Verizon is currently negotiating with several other communities in Massachusetts to obtain additional franchises. For more information on the Verizon franchise process in the state, visit http://www.verizon.com/ma.
"FiOS TV gives consumers in Bellingham an outstanding, superior alternative for their video entertainment," said Donna Cupelo, Verizon region president for Massachusetts and Rhode Island. "Customers in Bellingham who liked what FiOS did for their Internet connection will love what it does for their TV. We've harnessed the vast capacity of our advanced fiber-optic network to deliver a revolutionary, new entertainment experience."
Massachusetts residents who are FiOS TV-eligible now have the option to trim their monthly bills by bundling FiOS TV service, FiOS Internet service and the Verizon Freedom Essentials unlimited calling plan, for as little as $99.99 a month. They also can add a Verizon Wireless calling plan for a Grand Slam of communications and entertainment services.
In addition, new residential customers who subscribe to FiOS TV by Oct. 31 will receive their choice of a year's free use of either an HD digital video recorder (DVR) or an HD Home Media DVR. Verizon is also offering new FiOS TV customers, or existing customers who upgrade to a bundled package, one free month of HBO and Cinemax, which includes the latest hit movies, documentaries and original programming from more than 25 premium channels and access to hundreds of titles on video on demand (VOD). New customers who take advantage of this offer will save between $200 and $260 the first year, depending upon the DVR customers choose.
Bellingham consumers can check online at http://www.verizon.com/fios for more information or to request that Verizon contact them when FiOS services become available. Customers also can call their local Verizon sales office or 888-GET-FiOS (888-438-3467).
Small and medium-sized businesses interested in business-grade FiOS services can visit http://www.verizon.com/bizfiostv to see online rebate offers of up to $409 depending on the services selected, or call 877-FiOS-BIZ (877-346-7249) for more information.

entertainment, sports, news, shopping, movies and family, making it
easy for audiences to find their favorite programming.
-- A total of 85 HD channels for Massachusetts customers, with
extraordinary clarity and theater-quality sound. The company plans to
offer all available major HD programming by year-end.
-- An industry-leading library of more than 11,000 video-on-demand (VOD)
titles each month, 70 percent of which are free. In addition, the VOD
library includes an increasing number of HD titles, and Verizon plans
to offer 1,000 HD VOD titles per month by year-end.

VOD content and the optional digital video recorder along with
broadcast television into a seamless user experience.

viewings of recorded programs without requiring customers to set up a
complex home network or buy extra equipment. The recorder is bundled
with Media Manager, which lets customers easily access photos and
music from their personal computer and play them on their
entertainment center where they look and sound the best.
-- FiOS TV Widgets, a free interactive feature that provides local
weather and traffic information.
Programming choices for Hispanic, African-American, Asian, Russian and other multicultural audiences are available in every market, making FiOS TV an outlet for emerging and independent networks to showcase their diverse programming.
FiOS TV is designed to be a formidable competitor to cable and satellite. Verizon's fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network, the largest of its kind in the country, is currently under construction in more than half the states where the company offers landline communications services, including almost 100 Massachusetts communities.
The network brings the power and capacity of fiber optics directly into people's homes and has industry-leading quality and reliability. Fiber delivers amazingly sharp pictures and sound, and has the capacity to transmit a wide array of high-definition programming that is so clear and intense it seems to leap from the TV screen. It also delivers Internet download speeds of up to 50 Mbps* (megabits per second) and upload speeds of up to 20 Mbps as well as high-quality voice services.
(More information about FiOS TV and fiber optics is available in Verizon's online News Center at http://www.verizon.com/news.)
The value of FiOS TV extends to the installation and customer support. Specially trained Verizon technicians will install the service and acquaint subscribers with FiOS TV features and services. Verizon is waiving the installation fee for up to three existing TV outlets, and there is no charge to install a needed optical network terminal at the subscriber's home. Charges for other installation services, such as additional outlets, may apply. Verizon provides 24 x 7 technical assistance by phone from its Fiber Solutions Centers in Providence, R.I., and other cities.
[In Massachusetts, FiOS TV is available in Abington, Acton, Andover, Arlington, Ashland, Bellingham, Bedford, Belmont, Boxborough, Boxford, Braintree, Burlington, Canton, Dedham, Dunstable, Framingham, Franklin, Georgetown, Hamilton, Hingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Ipswich, Lakeville, Lawrence, Lincoln, Littleton, Lexington, Lynn, Lynnfield, Malden, Marion, Marlborough, Marshfield, Mattapoisett, Medfield, Medway, Melrose, Methuen, Middleborough, Millbury, Nahant, Natick, Needham, Newton, Norfolk, North Andover, North Reading, Northborough, Norwood, Plymouth, Reading, Rochester, Rockland, Rowley, Sherborn, Southborough, Stoneham, Stoughton, Stow, Sudbury, Sutton, Swampscott, Taunton, Tewksbury, Topsfield, Tyngsborough, Wakefield, Walpole, Waltham, Wareham, Wayland, Wellesley, Wenham, West Newbury, Westborough, Westwood, Wilmington, Winchester and Woburn. Plexus Systems, Inc. Announces Availability of 2008 ERP in the Mid-Market StudyCost Reductions, Customer Service Drive the Manufacturing Enterprise, Researchers Conclude
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Plexus Systems, Inc., providers of Plexus Online on-demand software for the manufacturing enterprise, today announced the availability of the newly published "2008 ERP in the Mid-Market Benchmark Report" from industry analysts Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company . Plexus Systems sponsored the report now available as a free download for a limited time at http://www.plex.com/.
(LOGO: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070627/CLW071LOGO )
In the face of rising energy costs and a fear of a global economic downturn, reducing costs is a top priority for today's mid-size companies as they develop their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) strategies. Yet, in order to preserve revenue streams and market share, cost reductions cannot come at the expense of customer service. This report explores feedback from over 500 mid-size companies, and aims to serve as a roadmap to those that desire to reduce costs, and improve accuracy and delivery performance.
A free copy of the report is available until October 31, 2008 at http://www.plex.com/knowledgecenter/whitepapers.asp
"This timely research demonstrates the results of effective ERP implementations in today's volatile marketplace," said Mark Symonds, President and CEO Plexus Systems, Inc. "Our focus with Plexus Online Software as a Service is to offer manufacturing companies unparalleled levels of visibility, connectivity and integration -- all vital for success in today's competitive manufacturing sector."
Standardized implementation of ERP and standardized business processes that support internal company collaboration will ultimately result in a better customer experience. "The hallmark of a Best-in-Class implementation is standardization of both processes and master data such as charts of account, customers, suppliers and products," says Cindy Jutras, VP and Group Director, Aberdeen. "A majority (69%) of Best-in-Class companies have a standardized implementation of ERP across a potentially distributed and global environment. Whether this has resulted from developing and implementing standards up front or from a consolidation effort, this is a recommended state for any company." The research offers details on how to improve business performance through ERP investment and implementation strategies.
Plexus Online builds on the "software as a service" (SaaS) model with over 350 functional modules, providing companies instant access to vital information and management functions using a simple web browser. The on-demand solution features enterprise resource planning (ERP) functions such as accounting and finance modules, customer relationship management (CRM) features such as order entry and tracking, manufacturing execution systems (MES) functions such as production scheduling and machine integration, and supply chain management (SCM) functions such as supplier quality and traceability.

AT&T North Carolina Opens New Goldsboro Call Center, Bringing 400 New Jobs to Eastern North CarolinaTechnical Support Center to Assist Residential High Speed Internet Customers
GOLDSBORO, N.C., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. announced today that it has officially opened a new call center in Goldsboro to provide technical support for broadband customers in the southeastern United States.
Randall Stephenson, AT&T's chairman and chief executive officer, joined North Carolina Speaker of the House Joe Hackney, U.S. Representatives G.K. Butterfield and Walter Jones, AT&T North Carolina President Cynthia Marshall, state legislators and local officials in cutting the ribbon on the facility, which will employ 400 people by the end of the year with an expected payroll of $9 million.
"AT&T is committed to bringing jobs back into the U.S., and this new center is an example of that commitment and how the merger is benefiting consumers and the communities in which we work and live," Stephenson said. "The business-friendly climate in the states we serve makes it possible for us to invest and expand our operations. North Carolina's visionary leaders make this state attractive for investments and a good place to do business."
The Goldsboro jobs are part of an AT&T initiative to bring back in-house some 5,000 jobs that had previously been outsourced, many of them overseas.
"So many companies like AT&T are bringing their jobs to our state because we have a top-ranked business climate and a great quality of life for our citizens," said Gov. Mike Easley. "But most importantly, we have built a world-class education system that produces a workforce with the knowledge, talent and skill industries in the global economy need to succeed."
Speaker of the House Joe Hackney said, "I am pleased to see a major corporation making investments in North Carolina and especially in our rural areas. Clean, environmentally friendly, technology jobs such as these reflect the shift of our state's economy and the importance of advanced communications technologies. "
Stephenson said, "The Goldsboro center is one more example of how we're working together with our union to add jobs in growing parts of our company."
When the new center was announced in December 2007, the company had anticipated 350 jobs. However, it revised its plans soon after staffing began because of the quality and capabilities of the local workforce.
"It is exciting to see AT&T investing in bringing jobs home to our communities," said Larry Cohen, president of the Communications Workers of America. "North Carolinians have always had a strong belief in providing outstanding service, and I'm confident the CWA members in this new call center will carry on that proud tradition."
"Our city should take great pride in seeing a company such as AT&T expanding its operations and growing jobs right here in our community," said Goldsboro Mayor Al King. "We compete strongly for these kinds of opportunities, and it is always good to see Goldsboro come out on top."
Marshall said: "Although AT&T operates globally, we are a local company. We care about the communities and people we serve. That is why today we presented 7,500 calling cards for use by the service personnel at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Those men and women not only serve our country but are a vital part of the Goldsboro community. The calling cards are a way we can support and honor them and keep them connected to their families."
With more than 14.7 million broadband lines, AT&T is the premier provider of broadband service and the largest Wi-Fi provider in the U.S., making it a leader in delivering Internet Protocol-based services to residential and small business customers.
"A major part of our leadership as a broadband provider stems from having customer-friendly options that are in tune with the digital lifestyle our customers enjoy," said Stephenson. "This center is part of our commitment to make sure that the customer experience is the best that it can be."

Alcatel-Lucent Reaffirms Its Leadership in the Global WiMAX Rev-e Market at WiMAX World Event
CHICAGO, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- At the WiMAX World Americas 2008 trade show and exhibition today Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) is reaffirming its leadership in the worldwide market for WiMAX 802.16e (Rev-e) wireless broadband infrastructure, having secured more commercial agreements than any other vendor. Alcatel-Lucent comes into the marquee event with strong worldwide commercial momentum, having secured five new contract wins since mid-year -- including VTEL in Georgia and Delta Telecom in Azerbaijan -- bringing its industry-leading tally of commercial deployment agreements to 30.
Of these Rev-e network deployments, four are already in commercial service, and that number is expected to double by year-end.
"Alcatel-Lucent has now shipped nearly 9,000 Rev-e base stations and already has enough equipment in service to support more than half a million wireless broadband subscribers on five continents," said Karim El Naggar, Vice President and head of Alcatel-Lucent's WiMAX activities. "Rev-e technology has moved into a new phase of commercial maturity, with our customers realizing revenue from services supported by stable, industrialized Wave 2-ready mobile WiMAX infrastructure."
The event comes as Alcatel-Lucent's leadership in the fast-solidifying Mobile WiMAX sector garners wide industry recognition. Infonetics Research published a report in September noting that Alcatel-Lucent was in the top tier of Mobile WiMAX vendors and pulling away from the rest of the pack, confirming earlier analyses by industry analysts at Current Analysis and IDC. "The big WiMAX story of the quarter is the huge ramp-up in mobile WiMAX equipment revenues by Alcatel-Lucent, which more than doubled its revenue in 2Q08," said the report authored by Infonetics analyst Richard Webb.
As a result of its strong market position, Alcatel-Lucent also has established itself as a key driver of the development of the WiMAX ecosystem, with its Open Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) Program becoming one of the industry's premiere showcases and test-beds for WiMAX terminals from many of the world's leading WiMAX device vendors.
To further enrich the WiMAX eco-system, Alcatel-Lucent today announced the new Alcatel-Lucent Seal of Interoperability Acceptance for Commercial Services (SIACS), a stamp of approval for terminal devices successfully completing Alcatel-Lucent's rigorous interoperability testing regime. Devices featuring both MIMO and beam forming from Accton, Quanta, Siemens and ZyXEL have all received the Alcatel-Lucent SIACS.
Alcatel-Lucent at WiMAX World
At its booth on the WiMAX World exhibition floor, Alcatel-Lucent is leveraging live Mobile WiMAX connections to showcase commercial services its customers have launched. Through videoconferences with customers in the Netherlands (Worldmax), Malaysia (PacketOne) and the Dominican Republic (ONEMAX), visitors will be able to learn from these operators' experiences with radio deployment, end-to-end network architectures, and putting together a compelling retail offer. The booth also highlights the rapid expansion of Alcatel-Lucent's Open CPE Program as a whole, providing a close-up look at the latest devices from 30 partners worldwide -- as well as a direct connection to Alcatel-Lucent's Interoperability Testing Center in Taipei.
About Alcatel-Lucent
Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) provides solutions that enable service providers, enterprise and governments worldwide, to deliver voice, data and video communication services to end-users. Verizon Wireless Invests $9 Million to Expand Network to Beckley, WV and Surrounding AreasCompany to Contribute $15,000 to Women's Resource Center to Launch HopeLine Phone Recycling Program Boosting Domestic Violence Awareness
BECKLEY, W.Va., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless has invested approximately $9 million this year to expand its nationwide voice and data network into the Beckley, West Virginia area. On October 1, 2008, Verizon Wireless will add portions of Greenbrier, Raleigh and Summers Counties to its coverage area in the Mountain State, joining Mercer and Bland Counties, where the company has provided service since October 2006.
The new signal coverage follows I-77 from Pax into Mercer County, and follows I-64 from Beckley to White Sulphur Springs. Additional network expansion in Summers County is planned for 2008 and into 2009.
Verizon Wireless also announced today it has expanded coverage in Charleston and Huntington as well as in portions of Kanawha, Putnam, Mason, Wayne and Cabell Counties.
The new technology will let Beckley area Verizon Wireless customers make and receive calls on the nation's most reliable network and take advantage of the company's high-speed wireless Internet service, BroadBandAccess. BroadBandAccess service provides customers access to the Internet, e-mail, everyday corporate data, and more via their phones, PDAs or laptop computers. The company's advanced network also lets customers get turn-by-turn GPS-based directions, download music over-the-air, stream videos, play 3D games and more.
Verizon Wireless has been working with authorized retailer RT Wireless to prepare to serve customers from the agent's stores in Bluefield, Lewisburg, Mercer Mall, Princeton, Tazewell and White Sulphur Springs, and from two new locations:
-- RT Wireless, 119 Rural Acres Drive, Beckley, WV 25801
-- RT Wireless, Crossroads Mall, 5475 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Bradley, WV
25818
"We're excited to bring Verizon Wireless' branded service to even more of West Virginia," said Mike Maiorana, Verizon Wireless regional president. "Once residents and travelers try us out, we're confident they'll want to be on the nation's most reliable wireless network."
Along with the network expansion, Verizon Wireless is launching its HopeLine phone recycling program in the area with $15,000 in support for the Women's Resource Center, a domestic violence prevention organization based in Beckley. The Center will receive a donation of 12 wireless phones, valued at $3,500 with prepaid airtime for emergency use by clients, along with an $11,500 grant.
The HopeLine program collects no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any service provider at the company's stores nationwide. Phones are refurbished or recycled in an environmentally friendly way. Proceeds are used to provide wireless phones, airtime and cash grants to
organizations that focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness. Local residents may recycle phones through HopeLine at RT Wireless locations.
Verizon Wireless recently dispatched one of its real life test men to drive-test and fine-tune its network in the Beckley area, a process the company repeats regularly. Nationally, the company has nearly 100 test men and women who drive specially equipped vehicles almost 1,000,000 miles each year on major and secondary highways, roads and streets to determine if voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Each test vehicle uses computers to make or receive more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers. The test men and women are the inspiration for the company's memorable "can you hear me now" national advertising campaign.
This network expansion is part of the company's aggressive, annual multi-billion dollar investment program to add network capacity, coverage and new technology nationwide. In 2007, Verizon Wireless spent $300 million to enhance services and coverage in Southeastern West Virginia, Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland, bringing total network investment in the region to more than $1.8 billion since 2000. Nationally, the company has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed in 2000 to offer customers the most reliable service available.

CSC Unveils End-to-End Java Technology-based Solution for Property and Casualty InsurersCompany Teams with Sun to Deliver POINT IN J for Carriers Seeking a Full-featured, Platform-flexible Policy Administration System
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- CSC today introduced a Java Platform Enterprise Edition (Java EE) compatible solution for policy administration that provides platform and database flexibility. The company is offering the new software, POINT IN J, to property and casualty (P&C) insurers that want an integrated, open systems platform to improve efficiency and help speed new products to market.
Scott McNealy, chairman and co-founder of Sun Microsystems, and Ray August, president of CSC's Property & Casualty Insurance Division, unveiled the system today to nearly 1,000 insurance carriers, industry analysts, and technology and business executives at CSC's Connect 2008 Conference in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
"Sun, a leading innovator that introduced Java technology in 1995, continues to be one of CSC's most strategic teammates as we serve financial services clients who are looking for ways to advance and streamline their businesses now more than ever," said Jim Cook, president of CSC's Financial Services Sector.
CSC developed POINT IN J in Java, one of the most popular programming languages, and teamed with Sun to certify the new solution on the Sun Solaris Operating System. POINT IN J will be available for deployment by the end of the year.
"While many smaller vendors have made the move to modern platforms, CSC's decision to build one of the most widely used policy administration systems ever sold on Java technology underscores the demand for legacy migration," said Chad Hersh, principal, Insurance, Novarica. "The availability of a modern, end-to-end solution from a vendor like CSC will certainly catch the attention of carriers."
The POINT IN J and POINT IN policy administration systems support end-to-end P&C insurance processing for all U.S. states and all lines of coverage. CSC will continue to support and maintain both versions through its Continuous Delivery software upgrades, which give insurers incremental updates as soon as they become available. In addition, POINT IN's integrated components are compatible with POINT IN J.
"With the broadest portfolio of software for the P&C insurance industry, CSC has continued to invest quietly and strategically in leading technologies to deliver greater choice to the marketplace," said August. "CSC's investment in new solutions is steered by our focus on delivering the right technology at the right time to address ever-changing requirements."

"Since a new datacenter was too costly, we engaged EMC Global Services in a multi-staged initiative to retool our infrastructure and deliver more value and efficiency. We've saved millions of dollars, energy consumption is down and we're safeguarding our data better. And we even have room to grow and offer enhanced services to the university community."
ECU's initiatives have included consolidating their stand-alone file servers with EMC Celerra(R), virtualizing with VMware software, and converting servers to an EMC CLARiiON(R) boot-to-storage area network (SAN) model. With these changes, ECU was able to eliminate 156 servers and enable $1.8 million in savings -- more than 18 percent of ECU's budget -- in reduced equipment overhead and cost avoidance. Power consumption was decreased by 660 megawatts per year.
ECU also has taken steps to improve IT efficiency with enhanced backup, recovery and archiving solutions. For example, the university's Joyner Library needed long-term storage for its collection of newly digitized historical North Carolina documents. ECU's IT organization used the EMC Rainfinity(R) File Management Appliance to archive the scanned historical documents from EMC Celerra NS80G network-attached storage (NAS) gateway to EMC Centera(R) content-addressed storage.
Brent Zimmer, Assistant Director of Enterprise Storage Technologies, East Carolina University, said, "With 450 terabytes of storage and new applications coming on board, we always have an eye on shrinking our backup windows. We've used Rainfinity to archive thousands of historical documents from production to EMC Centera, which reduced backups from 10 hours to a couple of minutes. Because of the success of the library collections project, we plan to use Rainfinity to archive other types of data, such as medical images that take up huge amounts of space on our production systems, to Centera."
The pressure on growing backup operations has been also alleviated as a result of archiving other applications. ECU uses EMC DiskXtender(R) software to move document images that are inactive for 24 hours from CLARiiON fibre channel disk to less costly ATA disk on the Celerra. Additionally, ECU archives Microsoft Exchange emails older than 90 days from CLARiiON to Centera to comply with email retention regulations. Altogether, ECU has saved eight terabytes of production storage through archiving to Centera. To further streamline backup and restore processes, ECU is now backing up its enterprise servers to EMC CLARiiON CX-80 disk rather than tape.
"As our Exchange users grew to 50,000 strong, nightly tape backups of Exchange were taking four to five hours and retrieving a specific email from tape for legal discovery could take 60 hours," said Zimmer. "With archiving, we've reduced the production Exchange database from two terabytes to just one terabyte, which has contributed to faster backups, and perform legal email discovery in less than an hour."
ECU's information infrastructure is also critical for storing large video files from the university police department's 30 continuous-feed video cameras across campus. Rather than having individual storage units for each camera, the university has allocated thirty terabytes of EMC Celerra NAS to store the footage centrally.
"EMC Celerra is a secure and high-performance repository for these videos, allowing our security staff to view them immediately if there are any incidents on campus," said Zimmer. "We know the videos will be there, making the campus a safer place."
ECU leveraged the RSA Data Loss Prevention RiskAdvisor service, scanning more than 50 servers and 1500 desktops across their infrastructure to identify and protect sensitive data, such as social security and credit card numbers or private medical details. This service takes advantage of innovative technologies from RSA, the Security Division of EMC, and generates a detailed report that identified the systems that contained sensitive information, the users who owned the information, and the level of risk associated with those systems so that ECU's IT organization could ensure the management of this data complied with privacy and security regulations.

TIANJIN, China, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Southern Sauce Company, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: SOSA) (the "Company") (Southern Sauce Company, Inc. and Tianjin Shengkai Industrial Technology Development Co., Ltd., the entity through which the Company operates its business, are herein referred to as "Shengkai"), a market leader in the design, manufacturing and sales of ceramic valves, the manufacturing and sales of high-tech ceramic materials, technical consultation and services, and the import and export of ceramic valves and related technologies, announced annual 2008 financial results ended June 30, 2008.
Year Ending June 30, 2008 Financial Results
Revenue for the year ended June 30, 2008 was $32,355,693, an increase of $9,230,945 or 39.9% from $23,124,748 for the comparable period in 2007. The increase was primarily attributable to customer base expansion. Similar to the last two fiscal years, majority of revenue in fiscal year 2008 came from customers in the electric power, petrochemical and chemical and metallurgy industries.
Gross profit for the year ended June 30, 2008 was $19,144,085, an increase of $5,263,929 or 37.9% compared to $13,880,156 for the comparable period in 2007. The gross profit margin for the year ended June 30, 2008 decreased slightly to 59.2% from 60.0% for the comparable period in 2007. This was primarily attributable to costs related to the provision of sample products and promotional discounts to new customers to increase their confidence in Shengkai's products, as well as to increases in raw material costs.
Selling expenses for the year ended June 30, 2008 was $2,951,888, an increase of $312,639, or 11.8%, from $2,639,249 for the comparable period in 2007. The major selling expense was commission paid to the agents for introducing new customers to Shengkai which was approximately $2.6 million in the year ended June 30, 2008, an increase of approximately $0.4 million or 18.2% from approximately $2.2 million in the year ended June 30, 2007. Another major selling expense was traveling expense which was $76,907 in the year ended June 30, 2008, an increase of $35,346 from $41,561 in the year ended June 30, 2007. This increase was mainly attributable to more frequent travel to meet new local and oversea customers.
Income tax for the year ended June 30, 2008 was $4,138,860, an increase of 26% or $854,031 from $3,284,829 for the comparable period in 2007. The increase was primarily attributable to the increase in sales. The PRC government decreased the income tax rate on enterprises from 33% to 25% since January 1, 2008, which reduced income tax expenses by nearly $0.6 million from those expenses that would have been incurred if the previous tax rate was applied.
The Company had approximately $21.3 million in cash and cash equivalents on June 30, 2008. Stockholders' equity was approximately $37.2 million, with total assets of approximately $39.8 million and total liabilities of approximately $2.6 million. For the fiscal year of 2008, the Company generated approximately $9.9 million in cash from operations.

Top Gaining Site Categories for August 2008
Several travel-related categories experienced gains in August, as vacationers planned their trips and sought vacation deals.
