White Electronic Designs Board Realigns Company as Defense Electronics SupplierDisplay Systems Division to be Disposed; Board of Directors Reviewing Strategic Alternatives

PHOENIX, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- White Electronic Designs Corporation announced today that its Board of Directors has authorized the disposal of the Company's Display Systems Division ("DSD"). Located in Hillsboro, Oregon, DSD is a supplier of enhanced flat panel display systems. The Company will now operate exclusively as a defense electronics manufacturer and supplier.

DSD will join the Interface Electronic Division ("IED") and the commercial microelectronic product lines of the Company in discontinued operations. IED and the commercial microelectronic product lines were moved into discontinued operations in March 2008. The Company expects to complete the disposal of each of these discontinued operations within 12 months of their designation as such.

"White Electronic Designs is well-established as bringing superior technical knowledge, specialized manufacturing capabilities and an on-going commitment to research and development to the defense electronics market," said Dan Tarantine, executive vice president - Corporate Strategic Development and a member of the interim Office of the President. "We believe these attributes translate into a competitive advantage. This action will allow us to redeploy our resources, personnel and expertise to more efficiently supply the mission critical technology that supports our national security efforts."

Roger Derse, chief financial officer and a member of the interim Office of the President, said, "The discontinuation of DSD completes our strategic plan to focus our operations in the defense electronics market. We believe we will now have a more efficient operating structure that will result in improved operating margins and financial performance. Our full dedication to the defense electronics market will ensure that our expertise and engineering capabilities will continue to develop advanced military technology at higher levels of operating efficiencies and profitability."

The Company will record charges and costs related to the discontinued operations of DSD in the three-month period ended September 27, 2008. The Company is in the process of determining these charges and is unable to make an estimate at this time.

The Board of Directors also announced today further details regarding the formation of the Special Committee to review its strategic alternatives, previously announced in a press release dated August 28, 2008. This committee is comprised of two of the Company's independent directors, Paul Quadros and Thomas Toy.

To assist in this process, the Special Committee has retained Jefferies Quarterdeck, a division of Jefferies & Company, Inc., a leading investment bank in the defense electronics industry, as well as Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati as its special legal counsel. Jefferies will manage the process which will be comprised of a review of strategic alternatives, including White Electronic Designs Corporation continuing as an independent public company, merging with or acquiring another public or private defense electronics company, or being acquired by a strategic or financial investor.

The Special Committee expects the process to be thorough and deliberate. White Electronic Designs Corporation has no debt, positive cash flow, and substantial cash reserves, which the Company believes will allow it flexibility as it explores its options. At the conclusion of this process, the Special Committee will make a recommendation to the full board of White Electronic Designs Corporation. Investors are cautioned that the consideration of these various strategic alternatives by the Special Committee may not lead to any transaction or other action by the Company.

NeXplore Releases Updated Search EngineUser Feedback, Cloud-computing Technologies Drive Innovation, On-demand Scalability; Updated NeXplore Search Delivers Smoother Navigation, Faster Results, Social Sharing

FRISCO, Texas, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NeXplore Corporation (Pink Sheets: NXPC) today announced the release of an updated version of NeXplore Search (http://www.nexplore.com/), the company's innovative Web 2.0 search engine optimized for a superior end-user experience, rich-media display and social network integration.

According to Edward Mandel, NeXplore Corporation CEO, changes to NeXplore Search revealed in the updated version now available are the direct result of feedback received from NeXplore Search users and center on improving the search engine's performance and enhancing NeXplore's distinct, visually engaging user interface.

Mandel said, "With this update we focused on areas most important to our users; namely, ease-of-use and overall usefulness. The modifications we've made to the backend and user interface of NeXplore Search make it easier to quickly navigate through NeXplore's visually rich search results. Our mission is to provide the most engaging, enjoyable and productive Internet search experience available. This updated release of NeXplore Search attests to the unwavering commitment of the entire NeXplore team to achieve this goal."

NeXplore Search's ability to successfully handle steep traffic growth and rapidly roll out a steady stream of performance-enhancing features is made possible by leveraging cutting-edge cloud-computing technologies, according to NeXplore Corporation CTO Dion Hinchcliffe.

Said Hinchcliffe, "Our Web 2.0 application model uses innovative cloud-computing techniques to create a highly effective distributed search engine that easily scales to meet volume demands without compromising performance. We've combined this backend with a social overlay to fine tune and share results and a user interface built with advanced RIA technologies to create a compelling, highly productive user experience. NeXplore Search is poised for growth as users seek more effective and enjoyable ways to find the information they need."

    Enhancements to NeXplore Search:

-- Smoother navigation. Following feedback and suggestions provided by NeXplore Search users, several modifications made to the NeXplore Search results page make navigation smoother and more intuitive.

Notable changes to the NeXplore Search results page include giving users the option to collapse the 'Pop Search' and 'Wiki Search' boxes; resizing and repositioning the 'Preview,' 'Save' and 'Trash' icons for better visibility and ease of use; and the introduction of a floating preview screen that provides searchers with an immediate view of the website associated with whichever search result or advertisement they direct their cursor to. The new NeXplore preview screen helps to eliminate unproductive and aggravating drill down and increases search speed and success. Lastly, cleaner, crisper icon designs, bolder colors and sharper contrasts bolster the aesthetic appeal of NeXplore Search.

-- Faster results. Presenting video, photography, thumbnails, Pop Search, Wiki Search and other rich-media displays with every NeXplore search requires considerable back-end computational work. To speed up download times and deliver faster search results, NeXplore engineers leverage advanced cloud-computing techniques that provide instant scalability and the power needed to serve up NeXplore's robust content.

-- Social Sharing. Also added to NeXplore Search is a unique, patent-pending social sharing feature that enables NeXplore Search users to easily book mark and share search results with others across the Web. Making it simple for users to book mark and share NeXplore Search results increases affinity and stickiness among existing users and serves well as a viral mechanism for driving NeXplore's continued growth and popularity.

Said Bob Byron, director of engineering for NeXplore Corporation, "We're very proud of what we've accomplished in building NeXplore Search, but ultimately, the user is king in the Web 2.0 world. The feedback we receive from NeXplore Search users is invaluable. We listen very closely. The end result is a truly unique and enjoyable search experience that lessens reliance on static text, does away with fruitless drill down, and provides a refreshing, media-rich environment that is both visually appealing and productive."

Since its public beta launch in January 2008, NeXplore Search has steadily grown its user base, surpassing one million unique visitors in both May and June according to web-analytics company Compete.com. For its meteoric growth in traffic rank, NeXplore Search ranked 7th for the week of September 15th on the Movers & Shakers list compiled by Web information company Alexa.

Panama Canal Documents Historic Expansion With Advanced Streaming Technology from ViewCastViewCast Solutions to Stream Video from Massive Construction Project and Enable Training, Richer Employee Communication

PLANO, Texas, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As the Panama Canal Authority (Autoridad del Canal de Panama, or ACP) proceeds with its $5.25 billion, seven-year canal expansion project, solutions from ViewCast Corporation (BULLETIN BOARD: VCST) will play an important role in historical documentation and public information. The ACP has chosen ViewCast's Niagara(R) 7224 video encoding system to enable Web streaming of a wide variety of live and on-demand programming related to the expansion project, and to provide training for the ACP's 9,000-plus employees.

"Technology has come a long way since the building of the original canal, when we were only left with still photography and a small amount of film footage to document the event," said Edwin Reina, chief information officer for the ACP. "Thanks to the advanced streaming technology provided by ViewCast, we'll be able to deliver a wealth of content to our Web site to keep the public updated on the progress of the project, and to ensure that this monumental and historical event is recorded for posterity."

The ACP is a longtime user of ViewCast products. For a number of years, the organization has used ViewCast Osprey(R)-100 video capture cards to capture webcam images of vessels traveling through the Canal's three sets of locks. Still in use, the system provides updated images to the ACP Web site every 10 seconds.

Now, the ACP has implemented the ViewCast Niagara 7224 video encoding solution to deliver educational programming on the progress of the expansion project to the Canal Web site, including streaming live video from multiple construction sites. Since the Niagara 7224 provides eight separate channels, Canal personnel will also be able to use the system for a variety of other streaming applications, such as webcast training programs for ACP employees working throughout the Isthmus of Panama. The system will also be used for webcasting presentations from the ACP CEO, and to stream a television program providing weekly information updates on the Panama Canal to the ACP Web site.

"Based on our previous experience with ViewCast streaming equipment, we knew the Niagara 7224 would provide the reliability and high performance we needed -- and the system's multi-channel configuration makes it extremely versatile for a wide range of uses," said Reina. "Right at the beginning, the system showed off its ease-of-use by enabling us to stream a CEO presentation at the last minute, quickly and easily."

"As the ACP has shown, streaming technology can go a long way towards increasing public knowledge and building enthusiasm for large-scale public works projects and facilitating general communications," said Dave Stoner, president and chief executive officer of ViewCast. "We're excited that the Niagara 7224 and our Osprey cards are playing such a key role in this historic, world-changing event."

NetSuite Helps Wrigleyville Sports Meet Demand for Hot-Selling Cubs CollectiblesLeader in Chicago Cubs Merchandise Quadrupled Sales Without Hiring Additional Staff or Extra IT SpendingNetSuite's Ecommerce Levels the Playing Field with Other Major Sports Retailers

CHICAGO and SAN MATEO, Calif., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NetSuite Inc. , a leading vendor of on-demand, integrated business software suites, today announced that Wrigleyville Sports, a leading retailer of Chicago Cubs baseball merchandise and collectibles, is meeting the demands of high-volume sales with NetSuite's powerful Ecommerce engine. Thanks to NetSuite's integration of Ecommerce capabilities like automated order processing, inventory management and integrated UPS shipping, Wrigleyville Sports has quadrupled its businesses in the past two years and is saving thousands of dollars in labor and IT costs. The company is running its core business operations on NetSuite, including customer relationship management (CRM), inventory management, order processing and ecommerce. And with NetSuite, Wrigleyville Sports is able to compete nationally on the same playing field as other major sports franchise retailers. For more information about how Wrigleyville Sports uses NetSuite, please visit http://www.netsuite.com/wrigleyville.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20021024/SFTH024LOGO)

Wrigleyville Sports has been serving Cubs fans since opening its first location in 1990 on 959 W. Addison Street in Chicago, across from Wrigley Field. Since then, the company has been riding the highs and lows of baseball on Chicago's North Side. As the company grew to include a dedicated warehouse, a satellite department store location in Chicago's downtown, and a Pittsburgh branch catering to the local Pirates and Steelers (http://www.thepittsburghfan.com/), the limitations of its business software, including Retail Star for Ecommerce, began to show. On the fulfillment side, all of Wrigleyville's orders had to be billed manually, and there was no integration with its shipping carriers. The company had to keep five people working on billing and shipping processes all day just to keep up with order volume.

After looking at various options in 2007, including Microsoft Great Plains and Sage ACCPAC, Wrigleyville Sports chose NetSuite for enterprise resource planning (ERP) / accounting, CRM and Ecommerce, integrated with OnSite for point-of-sale functionality. That decision came none too soon, as the 2008 regular season success of the Cubs brought fans to the Wrigleyville retail and Web store in unprecedented numbers. As a result, daily order volumes have as much as quadrupled on a year-over-year basis. NetSuite has handled the mounting order volume smoothly.

Wrigleyville Sports found in NetSuite a real-time, multi-site environment to manage its expanding order volume in an all-in-one approach that could be quickly deployed. NetSuite also offered appealing, easily customized templates for Wrigleyville's Web store that had all the needed functionality, helping the company avoid the expense of hiring full-time IT professionals to design and maintain such a system. Wrigleyville is now able to better target its marketing efforts with instant, real-time campaign tracking.

"Instead of just knowing on an intuitive basis how our promotions are doing, I can see exactly what goes out the door because of an e-mail campaign," said Trey Carlstrom, Co-Owner, Wrigleyville Sports. "Thirty seconds after I send the campaign the orders start, and I can see if they bought what we promoted in the campaign, or chose to click through and buy something else."

In need of enterprise-like functionality to run its fast-growing operations, Wrigleyville uses NetSuite business software to help the company make better use of its personnel. "Now that our order processing, inventory management, and UPS shipping processes are so well-integrated and automated, we have been able to take five people off of manual order processing and put them on the phones, assisting customers," said Carlstrom. "Order processing now is as simple as the click of a button. And we're saving tens of thousands of dollars in saved salaries in the process."

Shipping has also become more cost-effective, as the company's old system did not support shipping from multiple locations. Now Wrigleyville Sports can prepare items for shipment from all of the company's warehouse and store locations, both in Chicago and in Pittsburgh.

The company currently plans to use NetSuite's SuiteTalk Web services integration to sell through eBay, Amazon, and other popular marketplaces without introducing additional IT overhead in the near future. NetSuite hopes to help Wrigleyville Sports expand its business, without requiring the company to hire more staff or to chain managers to their desks.

Cable Operators Get Serious About Advanced Advertising, Report FindsCable network operators have taken measures to set themselves apart from key advertisers in the cable industry, says Light Reading's Cable Industry Insider

NEW YORK, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- As telcos make inroads into their core video territory, cable network operators are intensifying their evaluation of technologies that allow for a full range of advanced advertising services to better differentiate themselves with key advertisers, according to the latest report published by Light Reading's Cable Industry Insider (http://www.lightreading.com/cable), a subscription research service from TechWeb's Light Reading (http://www.lightreading.com/).

Telcos Beware: Cable Takes Aim at Targeted Advertising examines the prospects for advanced advertising deployment by cable operators in North America. It identifies and analyzes the primary options available, and evaluates the key market drivers for deploying advanced advertising systems. The report also profiles and analyzes 12 suppliers with products that specifically enable the creation, delivery, and management of advanced TV advertising.

For a list of companies covered in this report, see: http://img.lightreading.com/cii/pdf/cii1008_companies.pdf .

"For suppliers, the key to entering the market is to understand the full supply chain of cable advertising and find a particular niche that a solution can fulfill. The successful solutions will be those that are open and flexible, yet unique," notes Craig Leddy, research analyst with Light Reading's Cable Industry Insider and author of the report. "The solutions must easily integrate with cable and advertising infrastructures and be able to deliver accurate, measurable results that clearly demonstrate a return on investment and reinforce their value."

Leddy notes that advanced advertising success is, essentially, up to the consumer. However, it is too early in the game to know the outcome. "There will need to be some symmetry in sales practices, operations, methodologies, reporting, and other details of advertising management," he says.

Other key findings of Telcos Beware: Cable Takes Aim at Targeted Advertising include the following:

-- Success in advanced advertising will be determined by how well each supplier carves out a niche in the delivery chain -- For advanced advertising solutions to be successful, they must be open and flexible yet unique enough so other vendors cannot create a similar, cheaper solution -- Supplier opportunities are increasingly marketing ITV, VOD, and ad solutions to operators, networks, and the advertising community

Telcos Beware: Cable Takes Aim at Targeted Advertising provides critical data and analysis for a range of industry participants, including:

-- MSOs seeking independent information on the technologies and vendors available to fulfill their advanced advertising needs -- Technology suppliers needing a clear analysis of the current and projected market opportunity for advanced advertising -- Investors seeking insight into how the advanced advertising sector will develop in the cable industry, and which suppliers are best positioned for success

Telcos Beware: Cable Takes Aim at Targeted Advertising is available as part of an annual subscription (six issues) to Light Reading's Cable Industry Insider, priced at $1,295. Individual reports are available for $900.

Verizon's New International Calling Plan Lets Consumers Call 118 Countries, From Australia to Zimbabwe, and Talk for Hours at Lower RatesInternational Single Rate Plan Offers International Long-Distance Calling for up to 500 Minutes; Rates so Low, They're Comparable to Those of Prepaid Calling Cards

NEW YORK, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon customers who make frequent calls from their home phone to other countries can now add the Verizon International Single Rate plan to their service and get great rates for up to 500 minutes of calling a month.

Customers with a Verizon Freedom voice plan can add the International Single Rate plan for $10 per month for 300 minutes (five hours) or $15 per month for 500 minutes (more than eight hours).* Verizon Freedom Essentials is a common component of Verizon's bundled offerings of voice, broadband Internet and video services.

Customers who do not have a Verizon Freedom voice plan can enroll in the International Single Rate plan for $14.99 per month for 300 minutes or $19.99 per month for 500 minutes.

The International Single Rate plan allows customers in the U.S. to make calls to 118 countries, including those that are called most frequently -- Mexico, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Italy, Germany and Israel. (Unlimited calls to Canada are included in Freedom calling plans.)

"International calling plans are in high demand by our customers who make numerous international calls to keep in touch with family, friends or business associates," said Eddie Googe, director of voice products for Verizon. "With our new plan, customers can make international calls for as little as three cents per minute. It's the lowest international rate we've ever offered, and it's comparable to prepaid calling card rates.

"Best of all, this plan reflects simplicity," Googe said. "Unlike prepaid cards, there are no per-call connection fees, and special codes aren't needed to make calls."

On average, more than 8 million international calls are made per month on Verizon's landline network -- with 99.9 percent reliability. In a recent study conducted by KRC Research for Verizon, nearly 100 percent of respondents said voice quality, audio volume, voice clarity and tone are important reasons why they prefer to place calls from a fixed landline phone.

Customers with the Verizon International Single Rate plan who exceed their minutes, call wireless phone numbers served by a cellular carrier in another country, or call countries not included in the plan will pay additional charges at competitive rates, on a per-minute-of-use basis.

Existing Verizon customers interested in the International Single Rate plan can call their Verizon business office at the number listed on their monthly bill statements. New customers can call 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966). More information and a list of qualifying countries also are available at http://www.verizon.com/internationalrates.

Zix Corporation and Code Green Networks Launch DLP-Based Email EncryptionEmail Encryption Leader Collaborates with Leading DLP Provider to Ensure Powerful Safeguard Against Unauthorized Disclosure

DALLAS and SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(R)), , the leader in hosted services for email encryption and e-prescribing, and Code Green Networks, a leading provider of data loss prevention (DLP) solutions for protecting customer data and safeguarding intellectual property, today announced an integrated DLP-based Email Encryption solution. The integrated solution provides accurate data loss prevention across all network channels together with a policy-based email encryption service to secure the communication of sensitive information in email.

Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Content Monitoring and Filtering and Data Loss Prevention was released in June 2008. The report stated that the "market's total value was an estimated $50 million in 2006, and $120 million in 2007. Gartner believes it will reach $200 million to $250 million in 2008."

DLP prevents the inappropriate dissemination of sensitive information. Moreover, the most efficient communication mechanism is email, and businesses need to be able to communicate certain sensitive information securely. By combining DLP with email encryption, business exchanges of sensitive information can continue while preventing loss or inappropriate access. Based on an organization's needs, Code Green Networks and ZixCorp offer two different tightly integrated solutions for delivering DLP-based email encryption. With both integrated solutions, a Code Green Content Inspection (CI) Appliance is deployed at the organization's Internet gateway to inspect all network traffic and enforce policy-based encryption on outgoing email. The CI-Appliance can either be paired with a ZixCorp email encryption appliance also located at the customer site, or it can be integrated with ZixCorp's Email Encryption Service. With both integrations, the connection between the Code Green CI-Appliance and the ZixCorp network is over a secure channel encrypted with TLS (Transport Layer Security), ensuring secure communication from the point the email leaves the customer network.

"Ensuring privacy of our members and protecting our brand is absolutely critical," said Nancy Stevenson, Vice President of Information Technology for Ascend Federal Credit Union. "Implementing an integrated DLP-based email encryption solution will lower the overall costs and complexity of securing confidential data across all channels."

ZixCorp is the leader in software as a service (SaaS) email encryption for regulatory compliance. ZixCorp hosts the largest email encryption directory in the world, ZixDirectory(TM), with more than 12 million members. ZixDirectory interconnects an influential network of healthcare, government and finance communities that use ZixCorp's Email Encryption Service to send and receive secure email. ZixCorp's hosted Email Encryption Service provides an easy-to-use, cost-effective way to ensure privacy and compliance for corporate email.

Code Green Networks' Content Inspection Appliances provide complete, enterprise class data loss prevention in an affordable, easy-to-deploy and easy-to-manage solution. Code Green's TrueDLP(TM) content detection technology and all-channel network inspection ensure data leaks are accurately detected and prevented.

    About Code Green Networks

Code Green Networks delivers data loss prevention solutions that protect private employee and customer information and safeguard intellectual property across all electronic communications channels. The company's easy-to-deploy, easy-to-manage content inspection appliances rapidly detect and prevent potential data leaks, helping organizations automate compliance and mitigate risks from internal breaches that can result in loss of revenue, financial penalties and irreparable damage to a corporation's image, brand and customer loyalty.
