New Xenos Enterprise Server Makes its Debut
TORONTO, Canada, October 1 /PRNewswire/ --
- After the Past 2 Days it's all About Return on Information
- Xenos ES Enables Organisations to Reduce Reuse Recycle Structured and
Unstructured Electronic Data and Documents
Xenos Group Inc. (TSX: XNS) today announced the launch of the Xenos
Enterprise Server(TM), the product of a 25-year quest for an intelligent
framework for electronic information infrastructure and management in the
complex modern enterprise.
Xenos Enterprise Server(TM) (Xenos ES(TM)) resolves the challenge of
rationalising business information architecture and flow by Streamlining
Enterprise Information Supply Chains(TM) and eliminating redundancies arising
from the storage of the same information in a variety of formats. It is a
server-based infrastructure solution that delivers organisational control
over all requisite resources for data and document transformation from a
centralised location in the enterprise. Xenos ES provides a robust, flexible
solution for consolidating disparate and/or legacy technologies, systems and
data located across the enterprise and readily integrates with the existing
components of an organisation's information supply chains. Xenos Enterprise
Server(TM) delivers a superior Return on Information(TM) by making
information available where, when and how it is needed. This improves
operational efficiency, enhances business processes, reduces risk for
compliance management and increases employee productivity both for the
enterprise and for its customers.
"There are three specific reasons why Xenos Enterprise Server is the
software product right for our times," said Stuart Butts, Chairman and CEO,
Xenos Group Inc. "First, enterprises can use Xenos ES to address the IT
challenges typically associated with divestitures and mergers & acquisitions.
Second, it addresses the strategic challenge of managing the explosive growth
in, and convergence of, structured and unstructured data and documents.
Third, initially conceived as the route to the paperless office, Xenos ES
allows enterprises to achieve efficient and effective communications while
reducing their carbon footprint."
Business information is commonly held or received in a variety of
incompatible formats. This often hampers strategic activities including
mergers, acquisitions, reorganisations or the creation of new information
supply chains driven by new business initiatives. Xenos ES provides a
scalable architectural framework that enables organisations to achieve their
strategic objectives by supporting enterprise information extraction,
transformation, repurposing, personalisation and delivery for both structured
and unstructured data and documents. Xenos ES unlocks strategic information
assets held in incompatible formats and repurposes them to required formats
as and when needed to address changing business needs. In addition, Xenos ES
facilitates the migration of disparate legacy document and image archives
into fewer or a single archive, which can dramatically reduce the costs
associated with unnecessary licenses, maintenance, training and support.
"C-level executives are now recognising the business drivers for managing
information as a strategic asset to improve operational efficiency, promote
transparency and enable business insight. Without an Enterprise Information
Architecture (EIA), information will continue to add cost (increased demands
for storage), complexity (silos), and risk (compliance etc). Proper alignment
into a unified information infrastructure can resolve many of the
challenges," said Debra Logan, VP Distinguished Analyst at Gartner.
Xenos ES is the only solution to provide a highly scalable,
component-based J2EE architecture that supports the extraction,
transformation and repurposing of both structured and unstructured data as an
enterprise service in SOA environments. Xenos ES enables organisations to
access and leverage the business-critical content they require for their
lines-of-business Content-Enabled Vertical Applications (CEVAs) including:
customer and partner-developed or third-party applications that require
ePresentment for electronic statement, report and image archive storage and
retrieval; secure online distribution of banking, brokerage, credit card,
insurance, telco, government, retail and manufacturing statements or
operational reports; 1:1 customer correspondence for personalised
communications; straight-through-processing for insurance policy underwriting
and claims handling; credit card and mortgage loan processing; online
presentment of tax forms for government portals; secure delivery of
healthcare documents; B2B data interchange among trading partners, and more.
As an enterprise-class solution, Xenos ES is built on a fault-tolerant,
server-based J2EE architecture that also provides job scheduling, load
balancing, clustering, monitoring, failover, notification and error-handling,
to ensure reliability. Xenos ES is designed to process millions of
transactions, each with sub-second performance.
"An electronic information system is not inherently green. Its relative
"greenness" depends on how it is designed and used and what it replaces,"
said Mr. Butts. "We believe that the Xenos Enterprise Server will empower our
customers to apply the green mantra "Reduce Reuse Recycle" to information
resources and that the benefits will be enormous from both an environmental
and business perspective."
Xenos Enterprise Server is immediately available from Xenos. Pricing
starts at US$70,000, (pnds stlg)35,000, or (euro) 50,000.
About Xenos Group Inc.
Xenos (TSX:XNS) is the market-leading provider of high-performance
software solutions that deliver a superior Return on Information(TM) by
Streamlining Enterprise Information Supply Chains(TM). The company's
solutions, based on the scalable Xenos Enterprise Server(TM) and its
components, process, extract, transform, repurpose and personalise high
volumes of data and documents for storage, real-time access, ePresentment,
printing and delivery in numerous formats across multiple channels. By
readily repurposing, integrating with and extending the business value of
existing technology, infrastructure and business applications, Xenos
solutions empower organisations to adapt to changing market demands. They
also improve operational efficiency, enhance business processes, reduce risk
for compliance management and increase employee productivity with lowered
total cost of ownership both for the enterprise and for its customers. Xenos

Recycle" information resources.

LOS GATOS, Calif. and ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Netflix, Inc. , the world's largest online movie rental service, and Starz Entertainment, LLC, a premium movie service provider operating in the U.S., today announced an agreement to make movies from Starz, through its "Starz Play" broadband subscription movie service, available to be streamed instantly at Netflix. Access to the Starz Play service at Netflix will be included with Netflix members' current monthly subscription fee.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20081001/AQW018)
The deal adds significantly to a growing library of over 12,000 choices of movies and TV episodes that can be watched instantly at Netflix. Netflix members who have unlimited subscription plans, which start at only $8.99 a month, will have full and unlimited access to approximately 2,500 additional movies and other choices from Starz Play as part of their current monthly subscription. That includes the opportunity to enjoy a live feed of the Starz TV network on their PCs and does not impact the number of DVDs members receive as part of their monthly plans.
The first of the Starz titles -- approximately 1,000 -- are available now at the Netflix Web site, where they are presented in a distinct area accessible by clicking on the "Watch Instantly" tab on the Netflix member home page. More titles will be added in the coming weeks.
Starz Play, Starz' collection of programming content for online distribution, features a wide variety of first-run hit movies, independent films and well-known movie classics, in addition to extreme sports, concerts, anime, Westerns and more. "Spider-Man(TM) 3," "Ratatouille," "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," "Superbad," "No Country for Old Men" and "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert" highlight the movie offerings now available to be watched instantly. Starz Play also features new original content from Starz, including episodes of the upcoming dramatic series "Crash," from the producers of the Academy Award(R)-winning Best Picture "Crash," which remains the most-rented DVD in the history of Netflix.
Beginning today, Netflix and Starz Play will offer a sneak preview of the first full episode of "Crash" in advance of the Starz primetime premiere on October 17 at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific. "Crash" will remain a staple in the Starz Play programming mix and new episodes will debut day-and-date with new episode premieres.
"The coupling of Starz Play with our growing library of streaming content is an important step forward for both companies and for consumer choice," said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix. "Our deal reflects the creative ways we are working with content partners to expand the profile and the number of choices our subscribers can watch instantly over the Internet, in addition to the 100,000 titles we offer on DVD through the mail."
Netflix also said that as part of the deal it will offer a Starz Play-only subscription for $7.99 a month.
Starz Entertainment's president and chief operating officer, Bill Myers, noted that this agreement marks a significant step forward in Starz' efforts to provide consumers with choice and convenience so that they can watch Starz programming wherever and whenever they want. "Netflix has grown to be an innovative leader in the home video space and we are delighted to offer their customers our unique and robust collection of movies on a subscription basis. This agreement is a strong vehicle to promote the Starz brand and showcase Starz' leadership position in the premium movie category."

Swiss Medical Group Selects ILog JRules to Streamline Claims ProcessingBRMS-based System To Reduce Claim Fraud and Costs by 30 Percent
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ILOG(R) today announced that Swiss Medical Group, a leading medical services provider in Argentina, is using ILOG JRules(R) to automate its medical claims processing. With the new Claims Excellence Application(R), Swiss Medical has been able to reduce unnecessary medical treatments, provide faster payments to practitioners, and lower incidents of fraud and abuse. With ILOG JRules as a key part of its new, more efficient system, Swiss Medical is able to automate rules across multiple clinics while reducing costs.
Swiss Medical has grown to over 60,000 practitioners and 730,000 patients in the past 18 years by providing extra services using a personalized plan. With over 2 million claims per month, a laborious and vulnerable paper-based system for claims processing became inefficient. ILOG JRules was incorporated into Swiss Medical's automated system to unify business rules throughout Swiss Medical's entities and to streamline its claims processing. With ILOG JRules, Swiss Medical is automating such functions as fraud detection, claim assignment and adjudication, and payment and settlement.
"ILOG has been instrumental in helping us implement our Claims Excellence Management project," said Luciano Graffi, database administrator, application architecture and operations management, Swiss Medical Group. "This project focused on achieving short- and medium-term monetary gains by incorporating a wide set of rules that span across the claims process. Using ILOG JRules to standardize our claims process, we have reached our goals of becoming paperless, eliminating process silos, and reducing fraud and abuse. In addition, the new system has enabled us to reduce claim costs and fraud by an estimated 30 percent, resulting in significant savings."
Automating the claims process and centrally maintaining and managing the business rules with the utmost of transparency have made a significant impact on improving efficiency. With the previous system, conspiracy to defraud between medical students, practitioners, patients and internal personnel was problematic and difficult to control. Today, deception is avoided by electronically processing claims using ILOG JRules and avoiding long-standing contracts between the claims processor and the practitioner.
Prior to automating the system, fraudulent claims were not easily identified; this resulted in payment for procedures not covered under the government's healthcare plan. Today, false claims are detected with ILOG JRules and are efficiently processed by determining what percentage of each procedure is covered by the government and which portion can be paid for by the Swiss Medical Group plan.
ILOG has consistently built on its history of product innovation to make it one of the industry's leading providers of business rule management systems (BRMS). Forrester Research has recognized ILOG as a resounding leader in Business rules platforms, including the sole leader in rules platforms for .NET, a leader in business rule platforms for Java, for business analysts and for overall feature sets. Customers of ILOG's award-winning BRMS products include eBay, Equifax, Grupo Santander, Travelocity, Visa and many other leading Global 2000 companies and governments worldwide. ILOG's BRMS product line includes ILOG JRules(R), ILOG Rules for .NET(R) and ILOG Rules for Cobol(R) To learn more about ILOG's BRMS products, please visit http://www.ilog.com/products/businessrules.
