PALM DESERT, Calif., May 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Spare Backup (OTC Bulletin Board: SPBU) today announced that it will launch Geek Squad branded online data storage services in the U.K. The service will be offered as an icon on the desktop on all PCs sold and included in a number of their support products. Services will be offered in accordance with the Data Storage Services Agreement with Best Buy Europe Distributions Limited (BBE). The initial launch in the U.K. will be at BBE's partner, The Carphone Warehouse Limited (CPW), which currently operates within nine countries in Europe.
Under the terms of the agreement Spare Backup will provide branded storage services to Geek Squad customers as an inclusive service through a number of Geek Squad support products. Spare Backup will receive an annual payment from CPW when a registered user exceeds 1GB of its online storage. Customers who have not purchased a Geek Squad support product are prompted to increase their storage capacity if they pass their 1GB limit and are provided with the option for a monthly or annual fee. Spare Backup and CPW have agreed to share any revenue derived from the fee based usage agreement on a confidential but mutually beneficial basis.
Spare Backup will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the data and for the administration and operation of the Backup Website and service delivery. Verizon Employees Collect More Than $450,000 Worth of Household Items to Assist Victims of Domestic ViolenceEmployees at 485 Company Locations Collected Items to Support Domestic Violence Shelters; Annual Campaign Has Collected More than $1 Million in Items Since Launch in 2007
NEW YORK, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 1,200 Verizon volunteers across the country took part in a 14-day Shower for the Shelter campaign to collect needed clothing, personal items and household supplies to support shelters that serve survivors of domestic violence. More than $450,000 worth of items were collected, a record-high amount that surpassed last year's total by approximately 10 percent.
The Verizon Foundation partnered with the National Network to End Domestic Violence to organize the recent drive at 485 Verizon, Verizon Business and Verizon Wireless locations across the country to support nearly 200 domestic violence shelters.
"The record-breaking number of items collected will fill vital needs in shelters across the country," said Sue Else, president of the National Network to End Domestic Violence. "Verizon volunteers stepped up to the plate at a critical time. The demand for shelter services is up, and the donations will serve thousands of domestic violence survivors in need. Especially during difficult economic times, we're grateful that Verizon volunteers remain committed to helping their communities."
All the donated items will be distributed later this month to domestic violence shelters in the local communities where the items were collected.
