Oracle Extends Capabilities of Oracle(R) Identity ManagerNew Features Deliver Enhanced Compliance and User Provisioning

    REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --

News Facts -- To help enterprises significantly improve compliance and reduce potential for fraud, Oracle today announced enhanced capabilities for Oracle(R) Identity Manager. -- The enhancements to Oracle Identity Manager, Oracle's industry leading user provisioning and identity administration solution, allow enterprises to enforce more granular Segregation of Duties (SoD) in enterprise applications, including the Oracle E-Business Suite , Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise and SAP ERP applications. Enterprises can automate user provisioning and centrally manage, monitor and report on SoD-compliant user access in real-time at a fine-grained entitlements level. -- Oracle Identity Manager includes a new SoD integration architecture that provides complete, hot-pluggable support for all leading SoD engines including Oracle Applications Access Controls Governor and SAP Business Objects Access Controls. -- Real-time monitoring and enforcement of SoD policies enables enterprises to significantly reduce security risk from fraudulent activities, comply with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). Highlights of Enhanced Oracle Identity Manager Capabilities -- With the enhanced capabilities of Oracle Identity Manager, SoD policy enforcement becomes an integral part of the provisioning and account request approval processes, enabling enterprises to: -- Significantly reduce security risks from error-prone manual provisioning and apply consistent access policies across all applications and systems to achieve a sustainable, cost-effective control practice. -- Leverage domain expertise, validation policies, workflows and comprehensive SoD libraries within SoD engines to lower TCO, shorten time-to-value and enforce preventive controls to proactively identify potential fraudulent activity. -- Maintain a complete audit trail, including SoD conflicts, across multiple applications and IT systems to support regulatory compliance. -- Oracle is also shipping the new Oracle Identity Manager connector for SAP that, , is uniquely integrated with the enterprise process for user and role administration. Specifically: -- SoD conflict check is always performed, whether the privilege was requested directly or indirectly through a role and can be configured to be done before or after any approval workflows -- An SoD conflict is always recorded in the identity management audit trail and can result in new exception workflow for special approvals -- Additionally, Oracle is now shipping the new Oracle Identity Manager Connector for the Oracle E-Business Suite that: -- Comes pre-configured with Oracle Applications Access Controls Governor, providing real-time SoD validations for granular, responsibility level user provisioning in the Oracle E-Business Suite applications. -- Makes Oracle Identity Manager the central source of identity management data across all user directories and Oracle EBS user stores eliminating the need for point to point integrations.

    * The Oracle Identity Manager Connector for the Oracle E-Business Suite is certified with both Oracle EBS R11 and R12 and helps further reduce cost of ownership by simplifying user management and ensuring an un-fragmented, centralized audit trail.

Supporting Quote -- "SoD policy enforcement is a critical component of user provisioning, but without support for heterogeneous IT environments it can become a cumbersome, costly and error-prone process," said Amit Jasuja, vice president, Oracle Identity Management. "With the enhancements to Oracle Identity Manager, we believe we have greatly simplified the process. By automating and integrating SoD policy enforcement with disparate IT systems and applications, Oracle is furthering its commitment to help customers reduce security risks, comply with industry regulations and lower cost of ownership." AT&T Reduces Environmental Impact and Delivers Savings of More Than US$100,000 by Hosting Regional Customer Meeting Via TelepresenceAT&T Demonstrates Practical Benefits of Immersive 'face to face' Video Collaboration Systems

HONG KONG, June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T* today announced that by conducting its meeting of a customer Regional Advisory Council (RAC) by Telepresence rather than face-to-face reduced emissions by an equivalent to more than 62 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2e)** and saved participants more than US$100,000.

Twice each year, AT&T Asia Pacific Group meets with approximately 20 of its regional and global customers who make up the advisory council to discuss a wide range of issues from service quality and support to new products and investment plans for emerging markets.

"These meetings are critical in terms of getting direct feedback from some of our biggest customers," said Bernard Yee, vice president AT&T Asia Pacific. "While we don't intend to do away with face-to-face meetings entirely, we felt that hosting this meeting by telepresence was not only the responsible thing to do in the current economic climate, but also a great opportunity to showcase how efficient and cost-effective this solution can be for our customers."

Previous RAC meetings have been held in Beijing, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Delhi and Singapore with customers generally devoting 3-4 full days including travel time. AT&T takes responsibility for the meeting and hospitality costs while customers pay their own travel and accommodation expenses, with total costs for each meeting exceeding US$100,000 on average.

Will Thomas Customer Chairman of the AT&T Asia Pacific RAC, said that the experience had clearly demonstrated how effectively group meetings could be conducted remotely, via tools and services that enable a truly lifelike, in person virtual experience.

"These meetings are all about open, honest exchanges of views and opinions from both sides," Mr. Thomas said. "We not only managed to achieve our key meeting objectives in about four hours, we also had the chance to thoroughly test the technology by involving so many people in multiple locations."

"Aside from the cost savings we achieved by meeting in this way, we were able to be more productive and improve our work life balance by avoiding the need to travel, as well as reduce the impact on the environment," Mr. Thomas added.

Using Cisco TelePresence suites, the meeting involved 21 customers from 15 companies including Air Products, Intel, Cargill, Tata Consultancy Services and DuPont along with 15 AT&T staff in ten locations -- Dallas, Chicago and New Jersey in the US, London, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Mumbai and Bangalore.

"AT&T and Cisco are actively using the Cisco TelePresence technology and changing the way organizations do business by collaborating in an entirely new way," said Mark Weidick, vice president and general manager of the TelePresence Exchange business unit at Cisco. "The AT&T Regional Advisory Council meeting is just one example of how intercompany Cisco TelePresence capabilities and service can enable real-time collaboration, deliver travel-cost savings and promote other efficiencies."

AT&T recently announced the availability of the AT&T Telepresence Solution in China in collaboration with local partners, as well as a new interoperability feature that will allow companies to connect their existing videoconferencing systems to the AT&T Telepresence Solution.

By the end of second quarter of 2009, companies will be able to connect their existing H.323 compatible legacy videoconferencing systems with their AT&T Telepresence Solution rooms, offering a cost-effective solution to leverage historically under-utilized systems. With this new feature for intra-company collaboration, existing SD (standard definition) or Internet Protocol-based videoconferencing systems will be able to participate as an end-point when a telepresence meeting begins. AT&T also recently announced 2009 plans to double the number of its own AT&T Telepresence Solution rooms worldwide to 50.

*AT&T products and services are provided or offered by subsidiaries and affiliates of AT&T Inc. under the AT&T brand and not by AT&T Inc.

**Carbon calculations were derived by Cisco's IBSG, which uses the TRX Airline Carbon Emissions Calculator (http://carbon.trx.com/Home.asp) for the impact of air travel avoidance, along with a standard calculation for the impact of ground transportation avoided to and from the meeting and airport, less the impact of energy usage for the Telepresence application and carbon start up and disposal. Note: Ground transportation to and from the Telepresence location and airport were assumed equivalent to participants' normal daily commutes, and thus, offset each other.

MIPS Technologies Announces Availability of Android Platform on MIPS(R) ArchitectureEcosystem Rallies behind Initiative to Drive Android beyond Mobile Handsets

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and TAIPEI, Taiwan, June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MIPS Technologies, Inc. , a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for home entertainment, communications, networking and portable multimedia markets, today announced availability of the Android(TM) platform on its industry-standard MIPS(R) architecture. The company also announced it will make the MIPS-optimized source code publicly available within 60 days. This move, backed by several ecosystem partners--with more to come--brings Android to the vast MIPS development community across the world, which can now begin using this revolutionary platform for consumer devices such as DTVs, mobile internet devices (MIDs), digital picture frames (DPFs) and set-top boxes.

Separately today, MIPS announced that its licensees are demonstrating Android running on MIPS-Based(TM) products at COMPUTEX TAIPEI. Additionally, the company announced it has joined the Open Embedded Software Foundation (OESF), an organization focused on standardization and development of Android platforms for embedded devices beyond mobile handsets.

Android provides a common framework across devices to leverage the large number of software application developers that are writing applications for the Android market. Initially finding success in the mobile phone market, Android is now set to move into other digital consumer devices. With MIPS Technologies' leadership position in the digital home, this announcement lays the groundwork to enable Android for these products. Android's ready-to-use software stack provides a device-agnostic application development platform, and a common framework for the industry. With Android and the dynamic open source development community around it, developers can easily and quickly create new applications and OEMs can leverage the growing set of applications for their devices. With the MIPS ecosystem around Android, OEMs will be able to quickly optimize Android for their specific platforms.

"In the future, almost every consumer device will be connected to the Internet and its wide array of content, delivering a wealth of applications for a richer user experience," said Rich Wawrzyniak, senior analyst, ASIC and SoC, Semico Research Corporation. "Leveraging Android to quickly and easily bring new and innovative applications and user interfaces to devices beyond the mobile phone is a very appealing proposition for consumers. Android also removes applications from their ties to specific hardware systems and opens the market for companies like MIPS Technologies to move into new market segments. I can understand why MIPS' partners and licensees are excited about Android on MIPS. It is a potential game changer."

"MIPS is excited to enable Android for the consumer electronics markets where we are traditionally strong, and also to proliferate MIPS into new markets - such as the emerging MID segment," said Art Swift, vice president of marketing, MIPS Technologies. "The heightened multimedia and software requirements of these next-generation connected devices demand high performance. As Android extends into these new markets, the processing power of MIPS can really be a powerful differentiator."

    MIPS Ecosystem Rallies behind Initiative

To further development efforts around Android on the MIPS architecture, members of the MIPS ecosystem are rallying behind the effort. MIPS Technologies is establishing development tools and system integration partnerships with service providers to help its licensees with porting, integration, and testing. Partnerships initially include those with Embedded Alley and Viosoft Corporation.

Embedded Alley, a leading provider of embedded Linux solutions, is offering support for SoC implementations from MIPS Technologies' licensees. The Embedded Alley Development System for Android-based Devices includes processor and board support as well as a version of the Android Dalvik virtual machine (VM) optimized for the MIPS instruction set and CPU cores; extending the Android bionic library, linker and other software infrastructure for the MIPS architecture; and providing integration and testing board support industry-specific device drivers, CODECs and other middleware. Embedded Alley is already enabling Android on devices built with the Alchemy Processor family from RMI--providing an Android-ready Linux kernel for RMI Au1250 and the Embedded Alley Development System for Alchemy reference platforms.

"Embedded Alley and MIPS Technologies have been working closely to deliver value to our mutual customers," said Matthew Locke, COO, Embedded Alley. "Following the success of Android in the mobile phone market, many companies have been looking at the potential of Android beyond mobile handsets, but it just wasn't clear how to make Android a reality for other types of devices. Embedded Alley, together with MIPS -- a strong leader in the digital home marketplace -- has determined what it will take, and we are making it happen. We are enabling OEMs and developers to create new Android-based designs."

Viosoft Corporation, a pioneer of fully integrated embedded Linux software solutions, is a key partner for MIPS based software development tools. Viosoft's Arriba tools deliver comprehensive support for single and multi-core platforms. The tools support Android, and are available today.

"The MIPS architecture has consistently delivered high-performance Linux platforms with low power consumption, making it ideal for VM-based environments such as Android," said Art Lee, vice president of business development, Viosoft Corporation. "To enable the porting, debugging and deployment of the Android platform on MIPS, Viosoft provides a set of unique and very powerful tools that dramatically reduce development time, risk and costs. Working closely with MIPS Technologies, we are focused on helping OEMs quickly and easily bring their Android platforms to market."

"With the rich ecosystem we are assembling and the work we have done to support the Android platform on the MIPS architecture, we believe that production-ready Android devices will come to market quickly," said Udi Kalekin, vice president of software engineering at MIPS. "To make porting easy for our customers, we are releasing our code to open source and the large community of Android developers. This will give all MIPS customers, partners, and developers access to the platform to quickly and easily build compelling next-generation devices."

    (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090601/NY24576 )

The DMP-B15 includes all the technology found in its stand-alone counterparts, the DMP-BD60, DMP-BD80 and the VHS-Blu-ray dual player DMP-BD70V. Image quality is of the highest level, thanks to PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus technology, developed in collaboration with Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory.

The PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus is a high quality image-processing technology that precisely processes each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc(TM) video signal in the vertical direction. It reproduces color data with twice the accuracy of conventional systems, resulting in faithful and sharp colors.

"As a pioneer in the development of DVD and Blu-ray expertise, Panasonic has always been at the forefront in developing cutting-edge, consumer friendly technology. Panasonic was the first company to bring to market a portable DVD player and stand- alone Blu-ray players to feature Bonus View and BD Live; and with the B15 we continue that tradition of being first to market with unique technology," said Richard Simone, Director, Entertainment Group, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. "The B15 is a unique and versatile High Definition player that gives the consumer the ultimate entertainment experience, whether traveling or in the home as either an additional Blu-ray player or the primary source for 1080p viewing. Because it also features the VIERA CAST functionality, the B15 can transform any TV into an IPTV with the capability to access select web sites. At a time when many families own multiple TVs, the B15 provides a number of entertainment options, giving them the ability to enjoy HD video in any room where there is an HDTV."

Like Panasonic's three stand-alone Blu-ray players, the DMP-B15 includes VIERA CAST functionality. This distinctive application gives the consumer access to select Web sites, including Amazon Video-on-Demand, a streaming video service that gives the consumer access to more than 40,000 titles; YouTube(TM); Google Picasa Web Album(TM); Bloomberg and a weather channel. The Amazon VOD will be available in late June. VIERA CAST does not require an external set-top box, nor is there a fee for the service. And, as additional web sites are added to the service, they will automatically appear. Viera CAST and BD-Live features require an Internet connection via the LAN port.

Ease of use is an important element in Panasonic's products and the DMP-B15, with a 2.5 hour rechargeable battery, is designed with that in mind. In addition to its use as a portable player, the consumer can connect it to an HDTV via HDMI cable, and use it as a stand-alone Blu-ray Disc player. The player can also be connected to an HD-Audio compatible AV receiver with a home theater speaker system, enabling the consumer to enjoy movies with outstanding surround sound. To accommodate the traveler, the DMP-B15 offers an optional headrest mounting bracket for in-car use. Like all Panasonic Blu-ray players, the B15 features an SD Memory Card slot that allows the consumer to view and share digital photos, as well as HD video recorded on a SD card.

Telefonica O2 Ireland Calls on EMC to Retain Call Detail Records for the EU Data Retention DirectiveJoint EMC and SenSage Solution Enables Telefonica O2 Ireland To Meet Irish Law Enforcement Requests In Minutes Rather Than Days

HOPKINTON, Mass., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- EMC Corporation , the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that Telefonica O2 Ireland has implemented an EMC Centera(R) and SenSage, Inc. solution to extend compliance with the EU Data Retention Directive to capture and retain Call Detail Records (CDRs) and make them accessible for rapid evidential analysis by law enforcement authorities. Telefonica O2 Ireland, a leading provider of mobile services and communications solutions in Ireland, can now meet Irish Law Enforcement requirements across a broader set of parameters in minutes rather than days.

"We received a high volume of requests per month from law enforcement agencies in 2008," said Denise Murphy, Fraud and Security Manager for Telefonica O2 Ireland. "The EMC Centera/SenSage solution allows us to deploy a system quickly to our users facing increasing demands from the Irish Law Enforcement authorities. Additionally, we readily gained acceptance from the users who saw a vast improvement in their capabilities to meet the requests passed into the operator. Turnaround times have been reduced from days to minutes while operational costs remain within acceptable limits."

According to Economist Intelligence Unit's recent survey titled, The Future of Enterprise Information Governance, nearly two-thirds of respondents indicated their companies had no formal information governance program in place, a concerning trend that may leave many corporations unprepared for new compliance mandates and open to preventable risks to sensitive information. Under the EU Data Retention Directive, telecommunications companies must now retain CDRs for all answered and unanswered calls from six months to two years, which could result in millions of wireless and wireline phone CDRs per day and billions of records that must be stored, maintained and accessible.

To comply with the Directive, Telefonica O2 Ireland chose the EMC Centera/SenSage Solution for Communications Service Providers. SenSage's Event Data Warehouse solution enables billions of records to be scanned and analyzed in a short period of time, creating actionable results at a fraction of the cost of traditional data warehouse solutions. The call and IP event data records are then securely archived and readily accessible from an EMC Centera content addressed storage (CAS) repository for as long as necessary. Additionally, as an existing EMC customer, Telefonica O2 Ireland has expanded its EMC information infrastructure beyond just compliance to meet the performance and availability requirements from its day-to-day business.

"Having a system which is both flexible and scalable is critical to our needs," said Owen Connolly, Principal Security Specialist at Telefonica O2 Ireland. "The EMC Centera/SenSage solution gives us just that while remaining at a relatively low cost compared to traditional alternatives. The synergistic combination of technology allows us to significantly improve our reaction to Law Enforcement requests and offers great scope to expand into other areas of the business such as Compliance and Revenue Assurance."

SenSage, Inc. offers patented event data warehouse solutions that provide actionable results from massive amounts of log and event data. More than 400 customers have deployed SenSage solutions to reduce security, fraud and compliance risks at a fraction of the cost of traditional data warehouses and log management solutions.

CA Extends its Leadership in Leveraging the Power of IBM zIIP Processors with Newest Release of CA Datacom Relational DatabaseOptimized Use of Mainframe Specialty Processors Enables Customers to Scale Capacity and Performance While Controlling IT Costs

ISLANDIA, N.Y., June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA today announced CA Datacom(R) r12, a new version of its high-performance/high-availability relational database management system that helps customers cost-effectively scale capacity and performance by exploiting IBM's System z(R) Integrated Information Processor (zIIP) specialty processor.

The new version, which also takes advantage of CA's Mainframe 2.0 technology, brings to 14 the number of CA mainframe solutions that make optimum use of the zIIP specialty processor to support greater workloads without consuming additional general-purpose processing capacity.

These solutions include CA IDMS(TM), CA Vtape Virtual Tape System, CA Tape Encryption, and CA NetMaster(R) Network Management. CA also helps customers more effectively utilize their zIIP processors by providing visibility into zIIP operations through management solutions such as CA SYSVIEW(R) Performance Management, CA MICS(R) Resource Management, and CA Insight Performance Monitor for DB2 for z/OS.

CA is leading the industry by empowering customers to take advantage of the low-cost capacity provided by zIIP processors for core business workloads.

"As a result of ongoing investments by CA and IBM, the mainframe has regained its position as the most compelling platform for the delivery of reliable, secure, high-performance IT services," said Mark Combs, senior vice president of CA's Mainframe Business Unit. "With its cost-saving use of zIIP capacity and its incorporation of Mainframe 2.0's ownership-easing functionality, CA Datacom r12 provides one more example of how CA is leading the mainframe software market and enhancing the overall value proposition of the IBM z/OS(R) platform."

Both CA Datacom r12 and CA IDMS r17 allow customers to shift all types of production database workloads--including those generated by online transaction systems, batch processing jobs and distributed platform requests--to zIIP specialty processors. CA's approach is in marked contrast to DBMS solutions from other vendors that either limit the types of workloads that can be offloaded from general purpose processors -- or that fail to utilize zIIP altogether.

"CA Datacom's zIIP capability will enable us to reap greater returns on our existing mainframe infrastructure by giving us more capacity without more cost," said Phil Frankford, database administrator at SC Data Center, Inc. "The ability to add workloads to our existing mainframe infrastructure is especially attractive to us because of the centralized management and security the mainframe provides for business-critical applications."

CA Datacom r12 also includes many other performance and productivity features, including a Multi-Dataset Index for advanced index processing and new AutoScope Performance Metric Tools for improved performance monitoring and tuning.

    Mainframe 2.0 support

CA Datacom r12 leverages key components of CA's Mainframe 2.0 initiative including CA Mainframe Software Manager, which automates CA Datacom product acquisition and installation and shields IT staff from underlying SMP/E complexities, and a Best Practices Guide that shortens the learning curve for IT staff by providing comprehensive information about CA Datacom installation, configuration, and deployment.

Mainframe 2.0 is being rapidly rolled out across CA's entire mainframe solutions portfolio, so that customers can take full advantage of the mainframe's unique scalability, reliability, security, performance, and cost-efficiency -- and so that a new generation of IT professionals can successfully manage enterprise mainframe environments as the industry loses a growing number of more experienced mainframe managers to retirement.

The Company was co-founded by David Sidransky, M.D. who with Manny Hidalgo, M.D., Ph.D. developed the Company's Preclinical Platform; a novel approach based upon the implantation of primary human tumors in immune deficient mice followed by propagation of the resulting engraftments (Biomerk Tumorgrafts(TM)) in a manner that preserves the biological characteristics of the original human tumor. ORLANDO, Fla., June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- At the 2009 Rational Software Conference, IBM today announced new products and services to help organizations more effectively align their business strategies with their investments in software. The new offerings are designed to help clients lower costs and reduce risks by providing increased visibility into the status of software projects and the ability to monitor and improve the performance of these investments. Additionally, IBM will be previewing several of its software delivery products in a cloud environment, giving clients an early look at how they can minimize costs while freeing up resources for investments in new projects.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090416/IBMLOGO )

With the Jazz technology platform serving as the basis for implementing today's new products and enhancements, IBM continues to help clients deploy flexible business processes to improve cross-organizational collaboration.

Improving Collaboration to Achieve Desired Business Outcomes, Powered by Jazz

In challenging economic times, making uninformed decisions can lead to costly mistakes that businesses can't afford to fix. Yet 77% of managers continue to be aware of bad decisions being made due to a lack of access to accurate information.* To prevent this from continuing, organizations need to view their investments in software as strategic business assets, and therefore make better informed decisions based on the current status of these software projects and the evolving needs of their businesses.

With these client needs in mind, IBM today is introducing IBM Rational Insight, a new investment and project management solution designed to help business leaders measure and manage team performance and project results across an entire organization. Built using IBM Cognos software, Rational Insight provides metrics and dashboards that help businesses quickly find and focus on cross-organizational issues that delay or derail software and systems projects, ensure the right people are collaborating, and then take real-time action to continuously improve results.

However, having measurable and manageable capabilities means nothing if organizations can't apply improved visibility and governance to turn insights into actionable results. Today, 59% of business projects fail to achieve one cost, time or scope objective, or fail entirely.** In an effort to help organizations better deliver desired business outcomes, IBM is introducing a beta program for IBM Rational Focal Point for Project Management, a new solution designed to reduce the delays and mistakes that hinder software projects from meeting the needs of the business. With Jazz serving as the underlying platform, Rational Focal Point for Project Management can improve business outcomes and manage changing priorities by enabling communications, workflow and collaboration across geographical and organizational boundaries.

According to a recent survey, only 22% of executives felt that their IT and business strategies were tightly integrated.*** Organizations must enable their IT and product development teams to more effectively execute against strategic plans at lower cost and risk to their business so they are better able to satisfy stakeholders. Through new enhancements and integrations to IBM Rational Focal Point for Product and Portfolio Management, IBM Rational Requirements Composer, IBM Rational Team Concert, and IBM Rational System Architect, IBM is helping a broad set of constituents -- from business leaders to software delivery teams -- prioritize projects and related IT investments. New upgrades to IBM Rational Team Concert also help an organization efficiently execute on their improved plans, regardless of the organizational and geographical boundaries of its team.

Additionally, with IBM's new Measured Capability Improvement Framework (MCIF), organizations can also take actions to continuously improve on results by learning from past experiences. Through MCIF, IBM provides organizations with an end-to-end framework that enables them to measure results and manage projects so they can incrementally improve their software delivery capability.

"In today's economic climate, businesses are looking for new ways to derive greater value from their investments in software," said Dr. Daniel Sabbah, general manager, IBM Rational Software. "Up until this point, organizations have been lax in measuring the business value and discipline of the processes they use to deliver software assets. Classic metrics in software engineering largely ignore the importance of actual business outcomes. Our clients are now beginning to realize that the software they build or assemble must be treated as a strategic business asset. IBM is committed to helping them make the right decisions and improve the successful outcomes of this newly emerging business process discipline."

Delivering Rational Services in the Cloud Designed to Free up Resources

As IBM expands its cloud computing capabilities, it will also be previewing a new set of Rational services that help design, test and deploy software assets into the cloud. IBM Rational Software Delivery Services for the Cloud will provide all the benefits of software as a service, including lower total cost of ownership, instant scalability, faster deployment, and increased productivity, with the added benefit of Cloud virtualization and flexible pricing. Several demonstrations of these new services will be shown at the Rational Software Conference, with formal technology previews planned for late June.

Business Partners Extend Value of New IBM Products

Also extending the value of these new offerings, Business Partners in the Ready for IBM Rational program, including CAST Software, QSM and Galorath, will be introducing new integrations for Rational Insight and Rational Focal Point for Project Management.

In related news, Rational System Architect and Rational Focal Point for Product and Portfolio Management will also be available for IBM System z customers.

Platts Launches New India Oil Price AssessmentsFast Growth in Oil Refining Raises Industry Need for a Benchmark

SINGAPORE, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Platts, a leading global energy and metals information provider and a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies , launched a series of new oil price benchmarks for the Indian oil markets on June 1. The Mean of Platts West India Netbacks, or MOPWIN, will help meet a critical need for reliable and transparent price information for oil products being exported from India to world markets.

The MOPWIN assessments for jet kerosene, 95 octane gasoline, and three grades of gasoil (10 parts per million (ppm) sulfur, 500 ppm sulfur and 2500 ppm sulfur), are derived by deducting freight costs from the assessments for those products in Singapore. MOPWIN naphtha is derived by deducting shipping costs from Japan's benchmark cargo market.

India has been aggressively boosting its oil refining capacity since a government decision in 2005 to turn the country into a products export hub. Refiners in both the public and private sector have embarked on projects to set up new refineries and expand existing facilities, with an eye on supplying markets in Europe, Africa, the U.S. and Asia.

"More refined oil products are flowing from India to global markets than ever before, and current industry forecasts suggest that volume of exports will grow substantially again in the years to come as refinery expansions continue," said Dan Tanz, Vice President of News & Pricing at Platts. "These new reference prices will provide a critical valuation of the oil as it is exported from India. Early feedback tells us clearly that these prices are just as important to our readers within India, as in the rest of the world."

The MOPWIN price assessments will be published on a daily basis. Visit http://www.platts.com/elqNow/elqRedir.htm?ref=../Oil/Resources/Methodology%20% 26%20Specifications/asiaoilproductspecs.pdf?S=n for more information on the benchmark assessments. For more information on oil and other energy or metals sectors, visit the Platts website http://www.platts.com/ .
