IBM Bundles System x Servers with VMware vSphere 4 in New Finance Package

ARMONK, N.Y., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IBM said today it is offering special finance packages through the remainder of 2009 for its System x family of servers that bundle the newly released VMware vSphere(TM) 4 virtualization platform. Qualified customers are eligible for financing on purchases as small as $5,000.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090416/IBMLOGO )

IBM's System x lineup includes BladeCenter servers, System x rack and tower models, and the System x3950 M2 enterprise server, the single-system "reference platform" for the development of VMware vSphere 4 scalability.

For example, an IBM solution configuration on VMware, that would allow customers to virtualize 70 active workloads(1) (onto a single System x3850), would retail for approximately $59,000. With financing, qualified customers could see zero upfront costs and monthly payments of approximately $1,675.00 per month.* Because virtualization reduces the number of systems needed, consolidating 70 active workloads onto a single System x3850 would cut hardware maintenance, capital, installation and utility costs.

The new financing plan is offered by IBM Global Financing, and is in direct response to customer demands for the packaging and financing of total solutions -- hardware, software and service.

All of IBM's System x and BladeCenter servers are currently eligible for the special finance plan, with financing for IBM's iDataPlex servers planned to be available later this year.

Nexicon June 2009 Letter to Shareholders

LOS ANGELES, June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- To our friends and shareholders:

2009 continues to be an exciting and productive year for Nexicon (Pink Sheets: NXCO). During Q2 we followed through and made significant progress on several fronts at both the corporate and operational level. Our MARC(TM) technology platform continues to improve while innovative, brand new applications for our technology present themselves virtually every day. In addition, despite the global economic crisis, the entire market for our technology continues to expand with online piracy growing throughout the world, diverting millions of dollars from legitimate copyright holders. Significantly, recent academic research is also teaching us that online piracy is not only costing copyright holders millions in revenue, but is also facilitating and financing the growth of organized crime and terrorism. As the ties between piracy, crime and ultimately, public safety, continue to strengthen, we believe the value of our technology continues to increase. Overall, we remain confident that our products and solutions have the capability to become an important part of enforcement and protection efforts at both the private (commercial) and public (governmental) levels.

During Q2 2009 we moved forward on several new and exciting initiatives. Given the nature of our business, we're often asked to abide by confidentiality and other similar restrictions, and we vigilantly respect those requests. Nonetheless, I can share a few monthly highlights with you, below. In each case I've chosen an example that, I believe, demonstrates how we've deliberately acted on our plan to validate, monetize, and expand the reach of our platform.

-- In April, we completed a successful pilot of our DataView(TM), DigitalRanger(TM), and Business Intelligence products with one of the 'Big Six' motion picture studios. We tracked in real-time, digital piracy for this worldwide release, and provided the studio with weekly raw data (DataView(TM)) regarding the piracy of the film. The executives at the studio were very pleased with our performance, and we are in discussions as to how we can deploy our products to help this studio in the US as well as in Europe and Asia. -- In May, we announced our partnership with Univer-$ale, an international business advisory and consulting firm that is helping us deploy the MARC platform internationally and with law enforcement agencies. In our first pilot application with Univer-$ale, we provided the Gendarmerie Nationale (French law enforcement authorities) with key information necessary to apprehend pedophiles exchanging child pornography. The information has already resulted in arrests, clearly demonstrating the direct application that our technology has to law enforcement. We believe the implications of this successful deployment are vast and directly applicable to all kinds of similar investigative goals. We are working in earnest at this moment to move to a commercial arrangement. -- In June, we announced that Esmiplaneta, a premier portal for the global Latin community, selected us to track worldwide voting for the upcoming "Batalla de las Americas" reality television show. The reality television show, similar in format to "American Idol", will result in the selection of the newest member of Latin America's newest music super group, XM2, which features three of the former members of Menudo. Having premiered June 28, 2009 the series will be broadcast over 13 weeks in 23 countries throughout Latin America, including MEGA TV in the United States and Puerto Rico. Nexicon's technology will be used to geographically track each and every mobile and Internet vote that is cast. The information will be displayed in a real-time graphic, onscreen, during the show's airing. The relationship is truly ground-breaking for us on several fronts and demonstrates yet another viable commercial application of our technology. I look forward to leveraging the relationship I've built with Roy Sciaccia, producer of Batalla de las Americas, to enhance our sales and marketing efforts in the entertainment space. Together, we have many exciting projects that we are already beginning to put in motion.

During the quarter we also added experienced talent to the Nexicon team. Tony Duckett joined our team in May as vice president of sales and business development. Tony brings to Nexicon more than 12 years of experience with IBM Global Services and Nortel in helping clients realize value through innovative technology solutions. Tony is a consummate professional and could not be a better representative for our company and to our clients. As an interesting side note to Tony, he played in the NBA in Europe for 7 years and counts many current and ex-players as his close friends. Tony will report to me and will be responsible for overseeing all sales efforts, including our growing set of strategic partners. Nexicon has also added Jay Wegert, a highly skilled database administrator, who comes to us from Micron Technology. Jay is an integral member of our team managing the vast amounts of data we collect, and is reporting to Tommy Stiansen, CTO. Mark Ford also joined Nexicon in May, responsible for recruiting and human resources. I've known Mark for more than 15 years and he has played an instrumental role in helping me build out Nexicon's human capital. Bridgette King is now heading up our public relations efforts. She has close to 20 years of experience in public relations and marketing, with a particular focus on the technology industry. She will be leading an aggressive PR campaign as we reach out to the media and our various target markets, showcasing our technology, its applications and implications, as well as our corporate developments. Public relations will become increasingly important to us as we continue to grow and as our company transitions toward reaching "fully reporting" status.

On the corporate level, we have engaged a PCABO registered independent auditor, representing another significant step forward in our plan to have our securities listed for trading on the OTCBB. The firm Kramer Weisman and Associates, LLP is based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and will initially complete the audit of our financial statement for fiscal years 2006, 2007, 2008 and through Q2 2009. We believe that retaining the auditor will not only facilitate our efforts toward obtaining the listing, but will also provide us with an additional level of external credibility.

We anticipate the next several quarters to continue to be a flurry of additional activity as we continue to rapidly grow. For example, in Q3 we're gearing up to launch yet another new product to add to our increasing technology portfolio. The product, code-named "IPCheck", will (in part) allow organizations to quickly identify in real-time when a security breach is happening on their internal networks. The product has extraordinary potential and can be naturally extended to be deployed in the consumer-use context (i.e. box version available at retail). Beta sites for the organizational application have already been selected and testing is planned to start in July. If the testing proceeds smoothly, we intend to launch the product into market with an aggressive public relations push. With the launch of IPCheck and its related solutions, we will have 11 products in our portfolio.

We expect Q3 and Q4 to be filled with additional technological improvements, the development of more innovative strategic partnerships in the commercial and government space, and continued efforts to attract the best and the brightest talent to join our team as we emerge.

In closing, I want to ensure that every shareholder understands that my primary focus is on explosive yet sustainable earnings growth. Every decision and action that I take is driven by this simple objective. I look forward to sharing with you our progress towards this end in the second half of this year.

This has been, and will continue to be, a pivotal year for Nexicon, and as always we appreciate your attention and support.

Very truly yours, Samuel M. Glines President and COO

Blind Mountain Climber Erik Weihenmayer and Actor-Director Eric Close Show Teachers How to Inspire Adventure in the Classroom, Using Verizon's Thinkfinity.orgSession Held at National Education Computing Conference, at Which Verizon Also Unveils New Educational Resources for Thinkfinity.org

WASHINGTON, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Blind mountain climber, adventurer and author Erik Weihenmayer teamed with actor-director Eric Close of the CBS series "Without A Trace" on Tuesday (June 30) to demonstrate how bringing a sense of adventure to the classroom can inspire and engage students to reach their full potential.

Titled "Inspiring the Inner Explorer: Creating a Spirit of Adventure in the Classroom," the session at the 2009 National Educational Computing Conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center here was hosted by the Verizon Foundation.

Weihenmayer, a former teacher, and Close appeared together for the first time in this new initiative, which pairs principles of adventure sports with practical tools like Verizon's Thinkfinity.org, to help teachers move beyond the textbook when teaching. Weihenmayer put that concept into action by inviting Close and several teachers from the audience to take part in a rope team exercise to demonstrate the importance of teamwork on the mountain and in the classroom.

"I would not have reached any of those summits without the right tools or the right team," Weihenmayer told the teachers. "In this time, when you as teachers are expected to do more with less, and the mandate for student achievement is greater than ever, I hope you will leverage Thinkfinity.org as one of the tools that can help you reach the summit in your classroom."

Thinkfinity.org is the Verizon Foundation's free, comprehensive Web site that contains thousands of educational resources including K-12 lesson plans, online educational activities, videos and other materials to enhance teacher effectiveness and improve student achievement.

In addition to the demonstration, the Verizon Foundation unveiled a new feature on Thinkfinity.org that includes a collection of free educational resources designed to inspire adventure and curiosity in the classroom.

Among the resources included in the Thinkfinity.org adventure feature are: -- Blind Mountain Climber on Summiting Everest -- In the fifty years since Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzig Norgay first saw the view from the top of Mount Everest, thousands have tried to reach that lofty vantage point. In this question-and-answer session with Weihenmayer, the only blind person to ever stand on Everest's peak, National Geographic offers a first-hand account of the brutal cold, savage winds and crushing fatigue at 29,000 feet (8,840 meters). http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/07/0730_030730_everest.ht ml -- Blast Off to Learn New Words -- This lesson plan from the National Council of Teachers of English and the International Reading Association's Readwritethink.org, will take students on a virtual trip to the moon to help children become excited about reading and develop new vocabulary skills. For grades K-2. http://www.readwritethink.org/beyondtheclassroom/summer/gradesK_2/NewW ords/ -- On Top of the World -- If you were standing on the top of Mount Everest, how far would you be able to see to the horizon? In this lesson, students will consider two different strategies for finding an answer. The first strategy is algebraic -- using data about the distance to the horizon from various heights to generate a rule. The second strategy is geometric -- using the radius of the Earth and right-triangle relationships to construct a formula. For grades 9-12. http://illuminations.nctm.org/LessonDetail.aspx?id=L711

"Resources such as Verizon's Thinkfinity.org allow students to experience a subject rather than simply hearing about it," said Patrick Gaston, president of the Verizon Foundation. "Whether it's a virtual field trip to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History or an online activity from American Association for the Advancement of Science's NetLinks that teaches about gravity, Thinkfinity.org can help bring learning to life."

The Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, supports the advancement of literacy and K-12 education through its free educational Web site, Thinkfinity.org, and fosters awareness and prevention of domestic violence. In 2008, the Verizon Foundation awarded more than $68 million in grants to nonprofit agencies in the U.S. and abroad. It also matched the charitable donations of Verizon employees and retirees, resulting in an additional $26 million in combined contributions to nonprofits. Through Verizon Volunteers, one of the nation's largest employee volunteer programs, Verizon employees and retirees have volunteered more than 3 million hours of community service since 2000. IBM Keeps the European Horticultural Industry Blooming with Sensor TechnologyNew System to Help Container Centralen Manage 3.5 Million Flower & Pot Plant Trolleys Daily

KONGENS LYNGBY, Denmark, June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IBM and Container Centralen today announced that by February 1, 2010, Danish Container Centralen -- Europe's largest provider of re-usable transport equipment and services -- will use IBM sensor technology to allow participants in the horticultural supply chain to track the progress of shipments as they move from growers to wholesalers and retailers across 40 countries in Europe. The project is the largest of its kind in the horticulture business.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090416/IBMLOGO )

Approximately 80,000 growers, wholesalers, and retailers use Container Centralen's flower and pot plant trolleys to deliver fresh flowers and plants speedily and in the best possible condition. The company's flower and pot plant trolleys -- called CC Containers -- are designed to meet the specific needs of the horticultural industry. The containers are suitable for mechanical handling, and since they are also used as retail display units, the flowers and plants can be transported right from the grower to the consumer in the store with no need for product handling in between -- meaning less damage to goods and reduced overall distribution costs.

In order to meet customer requirements, Container Centralen needs to be able to quickly and easily make the trolleys available to their customers where and when they are needed. And with 3.5 million flower and pot plant trolleys in circulation in the international network known as the "CC Pool System," careful tracking of the trolleys is essential.

Together with IBM, Container Centralen is outfitting each of its flower and pot plant trolleys with intelligent Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, which will allow it to offer an unprecedented level of transparency and security for all the players in the horticultural supply chain. It is expected to help the users reap significant savings through the entire supply chain from growers to wholesalers and retailers due to improved order management.

"After conducting extensive research of RFID technology throughout the past years, we have come to the conclusion that an RFID project is of vital importance for both our -- and our customers' -- logistics as suppliers to the wholesale and retail trade. We were happy to discover that our partners in this project had the same views on the future and RFID. Our overall common aims are to obtain higher efficiency and cost reductions in operations; improve control of the CC Containers circulating in the CC Pool System; and satisfying the future demands of the retailers," says Tonny Vangsgaard Gravesen, CEO, Container Centralen.

In addition to speeding supply chain operations, Container Centralen's RFID initiative will prevent the creation of counterfeit horticultural flower and pot plant trolleys. By putting a stop to the introduction of these inferior containers, Container Centralen can ensure high quality service through the entire supply chain.

Container Centralen's decision to deploy RFID technology across its operations followed a successful pilot in which in the solution was defined. Now, the company plans to equip all its horticultural flower and pot plant trolleys with RFID tags by 2010.

"Through the use of sensor technology, Container Centralen is sowing the seeds for a smarter, more effective horticultural shipping system," said Boy Steiner, business development executive, IBM.

All of the data from the RFID tags Container Centralen is using will be captured and stored by IBM's WebSphere Sensor Events software.

BETHESDA, Md., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Solidifying its position as the lodging industry technology leader, Marriott International is announcing it will offer telepresence technology in its hotels worldwide, using AT&T's fully-managed AT&T Telepresence Solution. Cisco TelePresence(TM) technology will enable Marriott to offer customers the widest array of meeting options, whether in-person, virtual or both.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090217/MARRIOTTINTLLOGO )

Telepresence is a rapidly growing and increasingly popular technology that enables small groups of less than 20 people to meet and collaborate in multiple locations worldwide in real time. By combining high-definition video, crisp, real time audio - no delays - and interior design for telepresence suites, groups feel as if they are actually meeting together in the same room, even if they are thousands of miles apart. (See video demonstration.)

"As the 24/7 world economy becomes more interconnected, the need to hold small global meetings that cross continents and oceans will only grow," said Arne Sorenson, president and COO, Marriott International. "We believe telepresence will create more business meetings because people can travel shorter distances and easily connect with colleagues and clients around the world. The addition of telepresence meeting suites in our hotels will give Marriott a leg up on its competition."

Initially, Marriott plans to locate telepresence meeting suites in 25 global gateway cities, including New York, San Francisco, Washington, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Frankfurt and London, in its Marriott Hotels & Resorts(R), JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts(R) and Renaissance Hotels & Resorts(R) brands. The first telepresence meeting suites are expected to go live at the end of October.

Marriott chose AT&T Telepresence Solution because it combines AT&T's global communications networking capabilities with the Cisco TelePresence technology. The Marriott telepresence suites will also be able to connect to existing private Cisco TelePresence locations throughout the world through the use of the AT&T Telepresence Solution intercompany capabilities.

"Marriott is leading the lodging industry in using advanced technology to help extend the reach of meetings for participants in disparate locations," said Ronald E. Spears, president and CEO of AT&T Business Solutions. "Working closely with Marriott, we are focused on delivering to Marriott hotels throughout the world the premier telepresence experience through the AT&T Telepresence Solution."

Since early 2008, AT&T and Cisco have collaborated to enable the growth and use of Cisco TelePresence technology and services among businesses and organizations throughout the world. AT&T Telepresence Solution leverages the power of Cisco TelePresence to create a unique, "in-person" experience with the simplicity of making a phone call as well as provides a "meet me" feature with a highly-secure PIN code that simplifies intercompany calling. UMass Memorial and Bethesda Health Systems Choose Siemens Health ITTwo additional U.S. health systems successfully launch Soarian in their facilities.

MALVERN, Penn., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- UMass Memorial Health Care and Bethesda Healthcare System have just signed multi-year contracts for Soarian, Siemens' innovative, fully web-based Healthcare Information System (HIS) that helps hospitals facilitate enterprise-wide workflows to more efficiently meet their unique clinical, financial, and administrative challenges.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070904/SIEMENSLOGO)

The new strategic agreement between Siemens and the 1,111-bed UMass Memorial Health Care is a result of the Worcester, Ma.-based health system's strong desire to consolidate its revenue-cycle system, enhance patient-safety initiatives, and achieve quality improvement objectives. The seven-year deal includes implementing Soarian Clinicals, featuring new Plan of Care functionality, Soarian Financials, and Soarian Quality Measures, Siemens' knowledge-driven healthcare data-mining tool that helps hospitals expedite the submission of quality measures through automated chart abstraction. Before inking the contract, UMass Memorial Health Care, which includes an academic medical center and four community hospitals, was able to experience Soarian's features and benefits firsthand through its member facility, HealthAlliance, which already utilizes Soarian and serves as a Soarian National Showcase Account.

South Florida's not-for-profit Bethesda Healthcare System, offering both inpatient and ambulatory services, has just extended its 25-year relationship with Siemens Healthcare through a new contract that includes migration to Soarian Clinicals, Soarian Critical Care, Soarian Emergency Department, Patient Identification Check, and Soarian Quality Measures. The new nine-year partnership impacts some 550 Bethesda Healthcare physicians in over 30 areas of specialty.

"Siemens is proud to be partnering with UMass Memorial Health Care and Bethesda Healthcare System on enterprise-wide healthcare solutions," said Janet Dillione, CEO, health services, Siemens Healthcare. "As the healthcare industry continues to evolve and more attention is focused on realizing the value of well-executed health IT implementations, we are pleased that Soarian is appealing to new customers, as well as those we've partnered with for many years. Multi-year contracts such as these demonstrate Siemens' long-standing commitment to deliver innovative health IT technologies that support our customers' desire to improve quality, reduce cost, and enhance efficiency in the management and delivery of patient care."

    New Soarian Installations

New York-based Sisters of Charity Hospital, part of the comprehensive Catholic Health System (CHS), has just successfully installed Soarian Financials for its St. Joseph Campus. The implementation represents the first New York acute care facility and first of three CHS acute care facilities to take advantage of the next-generation revenue-cycle software. Formed in 1998, all three CHS hospitals have already been successfully using Soarian Clinicals to support their efforts to continually provide care to hundreds of thousands of Western New Yorkers.

In February, University Hospitals (UHHS) in Cleveland, OH, also brought its Richmond Medical Center live on Soarian Financials: the fifth successful Soarian Financials installation at the six-facility community-based health care system, which serves patients throughout Northeastern Ohio.

Earlier this year, Siemens announced that two other U.S. healthcare facilities signed multi-year Soarian contracts, and that an additional facility signed a multi-year contract for both Soarian and MedSeries4(R), Siemens' fully web-based HIS designed to meet the unique needs of community hospitals.

The Siemens Healthcare Sector is one of the world's largest suppliers to the healthcare industry. The company is a renowned medical solutions provider with core competence and innovative strength in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies as well as in knowledge engineering, including information technology and system integration. The new cell site improves Verizon Wireless voice and data coverage in the communities of Karnak, Cypress, Grand Chain, Belknap, and in nearby rural areas of Pulaski, Johnson and Massac counties along Illinois routes 169 and 37.

"Network reliability is the No. 1 reason that customers choose and stay with Verizon Wireless," said Brendan Fallis, president-Kansas/Missouri/Southern Illinois Region, Verizon Wireless. "Getting through on the first try and maintaining a connection are important to our customers. We continue to optimize our network so that it remains the most reliable in the nation."

Reliable service is fundamental to customer loyalty, and Verizon Wireless boasts the highest customer loyalty in the industry, as measured by the company's low percentage of customer turnover.

"The value we offer our customers is closely tied to our industry-leading customer retention," Fallis said. "Wireless consumers today understand that value is not defined by price alone. A major reason our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us is because we offer the nation's most reliable network."

This network improvement is part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, improve capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Illinois and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed -- $5.5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. Leading Analyst Firm Positions EMC Document Sciences a Strong Performer in Document Output for Customer Communications Management MarketReceives Highest Score for Current Offering Overall and Named Only Leader in On-Demand Segment

HOPKINTON, Mass., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- EMC Corporation , the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that Forrester Research has positioned the EMC(R) Document Sciences(R) xPression(R) software suite as a Strong Performer and has been given the highest score for current offering overall in its June 2009 report, "The Forrester Wave(TM): Document Output for Customer Communications Management (DOCCM), Q2 2009." The report states that "xPression is well-positioned for a complete DOCCM enterprise platform, with an open architecture-based on Java and Web Services."

Forrester defines DOCCM as software used to compose, format, personalize and distribute content to support physical and electronic customer communications and improve the customer experience. Examples of customer communications include policies, contracts, correspondence, statements, invoices, personalized marketing materials and welcome kits. The DOCCM market is segmented into structured, interactive and on-demand categories. In the overall DOCCM market, xPression received the highest score for its current offering and the second-highest scores for both strategy and market presence.

xPression was named the only Leader in on-demand output. A segment of DOCCM poised to take off, on-demand output is triggered by multichannel requests from the Web, e-mail and front-end systems, such as ERP and CRM. Forrester said that xPression "leads the on-demand segment due to a strong multichannel strategy combined with a strong services architecture well suited to real-time and straight-through content generation." According to Forrester, today's economic climate puts organizations under even more pressure to move structured output to on-demand and e-transactions because structured output proves expensive, poses environment challenges and allows limited personalization.

xPression was also recognized as a Strong Performer in both interactive and structured output segments, receiving high scores for current offering, strategy and market presence. Forrester defines interactive output as those communications requiring human interaction to match variable customer data with structured forms while structured output is scheduled, consistently formatted and sent as part of a service relationship.

The report also states that "DOCCM has converged with enterprise content management (ECM) to meet emerging demands for interactive and on-demand output. Interactive applications need ECM integration more so than structured applications. Interactive applications requiring versioning, audit trails, check in and check out and they often need human-centric business process management to design, execute and improve the document process."

"When we acquired Document Sciences 15 months ago, EMC envisioned the combination of transactional content management with customer data to help companies deliver a rich, highly personalized customer experience that can build loyalty and ensure customer retention," said Whitney Tidmarsh, Chief Marketing Officer, Content Management and Archiving Division at EMC. "We're pleased that Forrester has recognized EMC's strong position which we believe further validates our strategy and market execution."

comScore and the GSMA Win M.E.F. Award for Business Intelligence in Mobile Media

    LONDON, June 30 /PRNewswire/ --

    - Award Winning Study in Partnership with the U.K. Mobile Operators Brings Greater Clarity to Mobile Media and Advertising Measurement

comScore, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, and the GSMA, the body that represents the worldwide mobile communications industry, today announced that they have received the coveted award for Business Intelligence at the 2009 Meffys Awards, held on May 27 at the Floridita club, London.

The award from the Mobile Entertainment Forum was given to comScore and the GSMA in partnership with all U.K. operators, recognizing technical innovation in the area of mobile media and advertising measurement by using real, anonymised, aggregated mobile audience data. The winning entry was based on the results of a feasibility study, part of the GSMA's Mobile Media Metrics programme, that has created a measurement process for mobile browsing which respects the privacy of mobile users and provides rich planning information for the media and advertising communities.

"comScore is delighted to accept this award in partnership with the GSMA, Telefonica O2 UK, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile International and 3," said Paul Goode, comScore SVP of Mobile Census Solutions. "The Business Intelligence Award recognises the GSMA and the mobile operators' commitment to developing definitive metrics and analytics to support mobile media, thereby enhancing transparency and media accountability to enable increased advertising investment in the medium."

"The GSMA and its membership are committed to delivering a measurement solution that will drive growth in mobile media, to the benefit of consumers and all players in the mobile industry," said Henry Stevens, Director of Media and Entertainment, GSMA. "comScore has been technically innovative in helping us achieve our objectives, through developing a measurement solution that will enable Operators to deliver valuable metrics to the industry while respecting customer privacy through the irreversible anonymisation of all data involved. As important, comScore has delivered at every stage of the project, and we are very pleased to have received joint recognition for this project from the industry."

MEF's Executive Director, Rimma Perelmuter, said: "Congratulations to comScore, the GSMA and all the U.K. operators for advancing audience measurement metrics for the U.K. market, set to have a seminal impact on the industry."

    Mobile Media Metrics Feasibility Study

The results of the study, based on a sample of anonymised data from U.K. mobile operators, revealed that operator sites continued to command the largest audiences in December 2008, with 68 percent of U.K. mobile users visiting operator portals. Google was the top non-operator portal destination and Facebook proved to be the top mobile site by time spent browsing, with other social networking sites also featuring strongly. In total, visitation to more than 167,000 mobile Internet sites was observed during the feasibility study.

    Unified Cross-Platform Audience Reporting

The award comes on the back of comScore's recent unveiling of Media Metrix 360, a new and comprehensive "panel-centric hybrid approach" to online audience measurement that combines person-level measurement with Web site server metrics and will provide visibility into the entire universe of Internet usage, including mobile devices. This capability makes Media Metrix 360 the perfect complement to mobile network-centric census measurement, such as that pioneered by the award-winning feasibility study.

Zilog Introduces Enhanced, Low-Voltage Serial Communications ControllerBased on Popular Zilog(R) Serial Communications Controller, New Solution Is Ideal for Computer Peripherals and Other Applications Requiring Lower Power

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zilog, Inc. a trusted supplier of application specific, embedded system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for industrial and consumer markets, today announced a new enhanced low-voltage serial communications controller (SCC) for a variety of computing applications requiring increased performance and lower power consumption.

The Zilog Z8523L Enhanced SCC (ESCC) builds on Zilog's popular and original discrete SCC, providing a low-power solution that reduces the voltage from 5 to 3.3 volts. The ESCC also features performance improvements that allow applications including computer peripherals, networking equipment and routers to experience faster data rates and increased processor bandwidth.

"Zilog has made significant improvements with our new ESCC that helps our customers bring their high-speed data applications to market quicker, reducing their total cost and extending the life of their applications," said Mike Orr, Zilog vice president and general manager, Microcontroller Business Unit.

Before developing the 3.3 volt ESCC, Zilog customers used a regulator to achieve lower voltage with the original 5 volt Zilog SCC. The Zilog 3.3 volt ESCC has deeper FIFOs and other features that significantly reduce the software overhead for each channel. This allows for more channels per system, faster data rates with more CPU bandwidth and overall lower CPU costs. The ESCC can support multiple channel and multiple protocols that easily interface to 8/16 bit addressable non-multiplexed address/data buses. The ESCC can be configured to satisfy a wide variety of serial communications applications. On-chip features include baud rate generators, digital PLLs and crystal oscillators to reduce external logic. Additional features may include optimized FIFOs to support high speed SDLC transfers using DMA controllers.

The ESCC handles asynchronous formats, synchronous byte-oriented protocols and synchronous bit-oriented protocols. The ESCC can generate and check CRC codes in any synchronous mode and can be programmed to check data integrity in various modes. The ESCC also has facilities for modem controls in both channels. In applications where these controls are not needed, the modem controls can be used for general-purpose I/O.

Zilog ESCC's are designed for use in multiple applications for serial communication needs. One of the key features offered by the ESCC is Extended Read Enable. Write Register values from the WR3, WR4, WR5, WR7, and WR10 can be examined in the ESCC. This feature improves system testability. It is also crucial for SCC/ESCC differentiation and allows generic software structures for all SCC/ESCC devices.

The Zilog Z85230 Enhanced SCC is in production and now available to ship to customers that place orders through distributors. For more information, visit http://www.zilog.com/.

NI Technology Research Updates Outlooks for ADC Telecommunications, Ciena, 3Com, Cisco Systems, Alcatel-Lucent, Altera, and Xilinx

PRINCETON, N.J., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Next Inning Technology Research (http://www.nextinning.com/), an online investment newsletter focused on semiconductor and technology stocks, announced it has updated outlooks for ADC Telecommunications , Ciena , 3Com , Cisco Systems , Alcatel-Lucent , Altera and Xilinx .

Editor Paul McWilliams has helped his subscribers generate huge returns on undervalued tech stocks in 2009. Out of the 80 stocks highlighted in his Undervalued Tech Stocks reports, 21 have produced returns in excess of 70% year to date. All of these were ranked as either good "strategic" or "speculative" buys. The average return for all stocks ranked as either "speculative" or "strategic" buys was 40.7%, better than twice the return of stocks he thought readers should avoid.

McWilliams now turns his attention to his quarterly State of Tech reports. In this exclusive series of reports, McWilliams offers data, charts, and analysis that illustrate important tech paradigms and highlight important trends that will move stocks during the upcoming quarter.

To read McWilliams' State of Tech series that is designed to prepare investors for the July earnings season, please accept our invitation to take a free 21-day, no risk test drive with Next Inning by visiting the following link:

    https://www.nextinning.com/subscribe/index.php?refer=prn841

McWilliams covers these topics and more in his most recent State of Tech report:

-- McWilliams suggested that readers avoid ADC Telecom last December, but after the price dropped 6.5%, he flipped to a positive rating on the company in late March. Since his upgrade, the stock has gone up 85%. Does he think it has reached its fair value and that it's now time to hedge long positions with covered calls? What is his outlook for the stock during the next year?

-- McWilliams ranked Ciena as a good speculative investment last December with an assigned price target of $10+. Now that the stock has posted a 70% gain and hit his target, does he think it's time to take profits or does he see a brighter future for the company?

-- In December, McWilliams encouraged Next Inning readers to buy 3Com stating clearly that he thought the price would soon double. Now that the stock has moved up 125% has he raised his target or does he suggest that investors take their profits?

-- In April, when the fiscal 2009 earnings consensus for Cisco was sitting at $1.25, McWilliams advised readers that Cisco would beat it by a dime. Now that it has moved up to $1.32 is he still holding fast to his $1.35 estimate? What does he forecast for Cisco for its fiscal 2010? Is there a case to be made for Cisco as a value investment?

-- McWiliams advised readers in March that there was one good reason to make a speculative investment in Alcatel-Lucent. Since then, the price of the stock has gone up 40%. What was the reason? What strategy has Alcatel-Lucent been using to seed future demand?

-- What new integrated circuit is scheduled for release by privately held BroadLogic that some pundits are predicting will significantly outperform the incumbent designs currently supported by Altera and Xilinx? Does McWilliams think it will materially impact the business of these two leaders in the programmable logic arena?

Founded in September 2002, Next Inning's model portfolio has returned 174% since its inception versus 2% for the S&P 500.

"We are thrilled to bring FiOS TV, an outstanding alternative for video entertainment, to residents in Groton," said Donna Cupelo, Verizon region president for New England. "Since the launch of FiOS TV in Massachusetts last year, we are continuing our efforts to meet the consumer demand for cable TV choice."

FiOS TV is the company's advanced fiber-optic television service, with superior picture-and-sound quality, innovative and interactive features, more high-definition and on-demand programs, and more reliable service at competitive prices.

"As a result of this new franchise, consumers in Groton will be able to choose their cable provider as easily as they choose their phone company," said Cupelo. "Competition drives innovation, value and service quality, and it puts the consumer in control."

Verizon research indicates 87 percent of Massachusetts residents favor more competition and choice for video services. Independent studies have shown that competition in the video market brings enormous benefits to consumers in the form of reduced prices, better packages and improved service.

Verizon's license agreement with the city of Groton is for 15 years. The agreement contains provisions for the network's future growth; financial support and capacity for educational and government access channels; cable service to government buildings; and other important benefits to the city, including insurance, indemnification and enforcement protections.

"Verizon will compete aggressively for subscribers in Groton with our FiOS services, which are fueled by our lightning-fast fiber-optic network," Cupelo said. Verizon soon will begin its door-to-door sales campaign in Groton, explaining the many advantages of FiOS TV to local consumers.

Verizon is the first company to offer a fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network, connecting homes and businesses directly to fiber optics on a widespread scale.

FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with more than 500 all-digital channels and 15,000 video-on-demand (VOD) titles each month -- 70 percent of which are free. Verizon's industry-leading VOD library also includes more than 1,400 HD titles per month.

Fiber delivers amazingly sharp pictures and sound, and has the capacity to transmit a wide array of high-definition programming that is so clear and intense it seems to leap from the TV screen.

In addition to FiOS TV, Verizon's fiber network also allows the company to offer consumers and businesses high-speed FiOS Internet service at download speeds up to 50 Mbps (megabits per second) and upload speeds up to 20 Mbps.*

    * NOTE: actual (throughput) speeds will vary.

[In Massachusetts, FiOS TV is available in Abington, Acton, Andover, Arlington, Ashland, Bedford, Bellingham, Belmont, Boxborough, Boxford, Braintree, Burlington, Canton, Danvers, Dedham, Dover, Dunstable, Framingham, Franklin, Georgetown, Grafton, Hamilton, Hanover, Hingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Hudson, Ipswich, Lakeville, Lawrence, Leominster, Lexington, Lincoln, Littleton, Lynn, Lynnfield, Malden, Mansfield, Marion, Marlborough, Marblehead, Marshfield, Mattapoisett, Maynard, Medfield, Medway, Melrose, Mendon, Methuen, Middleborough, Middleton, Millbury, Nahant, Natick, Needham, Newton, Norfolk, North Andover, North Reading, Northborough, Norwood, Norwell, Plymouth, Reading, Rochester, Rockland, Rowley, Sherborn, Southborough, Stoneham, Stoughton, Stow, Sudbury, Sutton, Swampscott, Taunton, Tewksbury, Topsfield, Tyngsborough, Wakefield, Walpole, Waltham, Wareham, Wayland, Wellesley, Wenham, West Newbury, Westborough, Weston, Westwood, Wilmington, Winchester and Woburn and will soon be available in Chelmsford, Groton, North Attleborough, and Wrentham.]

Educational Institutions in Midwest Gain Discounts and More Choices for Communications and Collaboration With MHEC and Alcatel-Lucent

MURRAY HILL, N.J., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) opened up new communications opportunities for its members by bringing on Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) as an approved vendor of voice and data networking solutions. By using the MHEC contract, higher education institutions, K-12 districts and schools and education-related nonprofit organizations in a dozen states can more easily and economically advance their communications networks with Alcatel-Lucent communication products, solutions and services.

As an approved vendor, Alcatel-Lucent offers special pricing and packages to educational institutions within MHEC member states. "Being able to reduce costs and still get quality products and services is so important to our states right now," said MHEC President Larry Isaak. "This agreement with Alcatel-Lucent is an opportunity for institutions to take advantage of the capabilities that advanced communications equipment and services can bring to the classroom."

MHEC is the Midwest's largest interstate resource-sharing commission for higher education, one of only four such interstate compacts nationally. The MHEC Technologies Committee promotes technology products and services that support education needs, expands training opportunities, and advocates on behalf of education in new product development. It also leverages the combined volume of education organizations in MHEC member states to negotiate favorable agreements with technology vendors. MHEC serves Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin, reaching over 1,000 universities, with over four million students.

Building on its global expertise in communications network infrastructure and the innovative heritage of Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent offers solutions that enable educational organizations to become more safe, secure, "green" and mobile.

Alcatel-Lucent Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution allows an institution to centralize its main voice switches and extend remote call servers with back up circuits at each campus building to reduce telephony costs. IP networking provides the bandwidth and security needed by students and faculty for on-campus communications and offers industry ranking low-power consumption. And wireless local area network (WLAN) solutions provide students and faculty the ability to gain Internet access anywhere, creating a more interactive learning environment for students.

"Alcatel-Lucent believes educational institutions can be more successful by linking their networks, people and processes to simplify communications, better engage students and secure their campuses," said Helle Kristoffersen, Vice President of Vertical Markets for Alcatel-Lucent. "Fundamentally, it's about connecting knowledge in real time to differentiate the quality of education and the overall quality of the institution. As an approved vendor for MHEC, we are positioned to help our customers such as Missouri's Lincoln University to leverage its investment in communications. The MHEC contract helps us extend the opportunity to additional educational institutions across the United States," she added.

Lincoln University hosts an Alcatel-Lucent network and has rounded out their voice, data and wireless communications for students, faculty and staff through the MHEC contract.

More information about Alcatel-Lucent education, collaboration and safe campus solutions is available online. And for more information on Alcatel-Lucent's MHEC involvement, please see http://www.mhectech.org/alcatel-lucent.

Verizon Wireless Expands 3G Wireless Network in Brooks, MaineInvestment in Waldo County, Maine to Stay Ahead of Rising Demand for Wireless Voice, 3G Multimedia and Internet Access

BROOKS, Maine, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless has expanded its network with a new cell site in Brooks, Maine. The new cell site provides increased wireless voice and 3G coverage along Route 7, Route 203 and Route 139 in Brooks, as well as the surrounding areas.

Verizon Wireless, originally the first wireless provider to offer 3G speeds, today has the largest and most reliable 3G network coverage area in the United States, giving customers with notebook computers or smartphones the ability to:

-- Browse the web faster with quicker page loading times -- Quickly download and play music -- Watch streaming video -- Send emails with attachments -- Download and play 3D games -- Video conference with your contacts -- Rapidly share files

"Verizon Wireless' 3G network coverage across New England is unparalleled," said director for Network System Performance for Verizon Wireless, Richard Enright. "We've invested billions of dollars into New England believing that even the most sophisticated cell phone is only as good as the network it runs on. Our continued aggressive network investments provide customers with a 3G network advantage at home and on vacation."

The company has invested more than $50 billion since its inception to increase the wireless voice and data coverage of its national network and to add new 3G services like Mobile Broadband and V CAST. Regionally the company has invested more than $2.4 billion into its New England network over the past nine years, including $240 million in 2008 alone. As the carrier with America's largest and most reliable wireless network, Verizon Wireless cell sites in New England provide 3G wireless data connectivity.

    Mobile Broadband Internet Access

Verizon Wireless' 3G high-speed wireless broadband network keeps customers connected. With Mobile Broadband from Verizon Wireless, notebook computer users can access email, download files and browse the Internet at broadband speed (average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps). A one megabyte email attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint(R) presentation or a large PDF file -- can be downloaded in about eight seconds and uploaded in less than 13 seconds.

    V CAST: Video and Music

Powered by the company's 3G high-speed network, V CAST multimedia services offer customers the ability to download full song tracks, play cutting-edge 3D games and stream video clips straight to their phones. With content updated daily, customers can watch dozens of on-demand videos, including breaking news, weather, sports highlights and the hottest entertainment clips.

    V CAST Music with Rhapsody

The company's wireless broadband network also powers its V CAST Music with Rhapsody service, which combines Verizon Wireless' world-class, over-the-air mobile music service with Rhapsody's leading desktop solution. V CAST Music with Rhapsody delivers unlimited access to music on up to three Rhapsody-compatible mobile phones and players, and online on multiple PCs and Web browsers. With V CAST Music with Rhapsody, customers who purchase music over-the-air can download the master copy of the songs or albums to their PCs free of digital rights management (DRM) software that restricts how and where music can be played.

    Most Reliable Wireless Network

The company's 'America's most reliable wireless network' reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country. By traversing more than one million miles annually on Interstate, U.S. and state highways, as well as major roads and surface streets in high-population areas -- the equivalent of two roundtrips to the moon or 40 trips around the world -- the test men and women confirm that voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

    About Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless operates the nation's most reliable and largest wireless voice and data network, serving more than 86.6 million customers. Headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J., with more than 86,000 employees nationwide, Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone (NYSE and LSE: VOD).
