Breakthrough Technology Transforms Direct Internet To TV Broadcasting, Creates The New Last MilePotent Catalyst in Industry's Transition to Global IPTV
MIAMI, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Utilities Ventures, Inc. (Pink Sheets: DUTV), an innovator in over the web video transport systems, announced today that it had successfully tested and is launching its breakthrough Direct Internet to TV Broadcasting System.
Called The New Last Mile, it uses an Internet based platform to deliver its TV programming. All the viewer needs is a broadband connection, either fiber or Wi-Fi, to the Internet to tap into the Digital Utilities Network. Then, acting as a virtual cable company, it piggybacks on the existing broadband connection to stream live programs of broadcast quality from anywhere in the world over the Internet directly to TV audiences and Cell Phone subscribers without having to build out proprietary fiber optic lines to homes...and it can do this using under 1 megabit of the Internet as the backbone to the television set or cell phone.
"This new network technology is a scaleable, server-based system that can be integrated into a wireless or wireline environment, said Digital Utilities' President, Garry McHenry. "The advantages to telecoms and cable operators are significant:
-- They can dramatically increase their customer reach by eliminating the
requirement of a total network build out, including a last mile link
to the consumer, while
-- Improving profitability and customer retention by offering subscribers
a full range of digital communications services coupled with unlimited
content access."
The IPTV World Forum - The Company successfully demonstrated its technology at the IPTV World Forum in March of 2008 in London and is in discussions with leading communications companies such as SingTel, Asia's largest communications group with operations and investments in more than 20 countries and territories around the world. SingTel recently submitted its bid to the government of Singapore to design, build and operate the active infrastructure of Singapore's Next Generation National Broadband Network.

ATK and NASA Unveil Ares I First Stage Five-Segment Solid Rocket BoosterAres I First Stage will be Tested August 25 at ATK's Facility
PROMONTORY, Utah, July 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NASA and Alliant Techsystems marked a major milestone on the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the moon, signifying the next steps in space travel to the moon and beyond, as they unveiled the first completed Ares I first stage five-segment solid rocket booster.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090720/CG48910)
The unveiling commenced as the movable structure that houses the booster was rolled off to reveal the Ares I first stage motor. The completed rocket was installed horizontally in a test stand that was modified from the space shuttle's four-segment configuration to fit the new five-segment Ares I booster. Instrumentation will be installed over the next month in preparation for the first major ground test of the NASA Constellation program August 25.
"As we reflect back 40 years to when man first stepped on the moon, we also look forward to continuing America's heritage of space exploration," said Mike Kahn, executive vice president, ATK Space Systems. "The booster we've unveiled today brings us a step closer to continuing that legacy."
The Ares I first stage has been under development since 2005. Based on the design of the space shuttle's four-segment booster, the first stage differs from its predecessor in a few ways. These include the addition of a fifth-segment, changes to the propellant grain, a larger nozzle opening and upgraded insulation and liner.
The propellant and cases remain the same as those used for more than three decades on the Space Shuttle Program. In fact, the cases used in this Ares I first stage ground test have collectively flown on 48 previous shuttle missions, including STS-1, the very first flight.
"Because we are using shuttle boosters in the design of the Ares I first stage, we are able to leverage decades of ground tests and shuttle flight processes," said Kahn. "Our streamlined processes, quality and infrastructure, combined with the knowledge and lessons learned that have been transferred to the Ares I first stage program, go a long way to ensure mission success for the human spaceflight program."
NASA's Ares I launch vehicle will launch the Orion crew exploration vehicle for missions to the International Space Station and the Moon. ATK is the prime contractor for the first stage five-segment solid rocket booster. The upcoming test will provide data to better understand how Ares I will perform.

iSource Networks Partners with inVentiv Health to Develop New Technology Platform for Reaching Healthcare Consumers
NEWPORT, R.I., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- iSource Networks, a company focused on improving patient-driven self-care, announced today that it will partner with inVentiv Health, the leading provider of commercialization solutions to the healthcare industry, to develop an innovative new technology platform that will connect people with the resources and information they need to better manage their health. The platform will be designed to empower consumers to access individualized health information in an on-demand setting, while protecting their privacy.
"Medical and health-related topics are consistently among the most searched subjects on the Internet," said Janet Johnson Smith, CEO of iSource Networks. "Yet, when presented with an opportunity to request information from a healthcare source by registering online, 70 percent of users will opt out rather than share their personal information. iSource Networks is intently focused on developing a solution to fulfill the need for truly personalized health information, while still providing the anonymity that consumers crave. We are thrilled to have inVentiv Health as our exclusive partner in this effort because they bring unparalleled experience in communicating with healthcare providers and consumers."
"The technology platform that iSource is developing is more than simply a new approach for connecting with and engaging consumers on health issues," said Tammy Fischer, President of GSW Worldwide - New York, the inVentiv Health company that is leading the partnership with iSource. "It is an asset that will advance the self management of healthcare and, ultimately, support better patient outcomes and lower healthcare costs. We are very excited to be supporting this innovative endeavor."
As part of the agreement, inVentiv Health will collaborate with iSource to develop content for the platform. The company also will manage client programs for healthcare businesses that want to use these tools to build stronger relationships with customers.
The iSource initiative will be fueled by the insights of Dr. Clotaire Rapaille, internationally known marketing and behavioral science expert and author of the nationally bestselling book, The Culture Code. Using a unique blend of biology, cultural anthropology, psychology, and learning theories, Dr. Rapaille delivers "archetype discoveries" that reveal why people behave the way they do. More than 50 of the Fortune 100 companies, including Procter & Gamble, Kellogg Company, Pepsi, Unilever, L'Oreal, Boeing and IBM have engaged Dr. Rapaille to provide critical insights on their products and marketing strategies. Additionally, Dr. Rapaille is an expert in media and new media, including decoding the global collective unconscious created by the Internet and how mobile digital technology impacts behaviors and creates new mental codes.
For iSource, Dr. Rapaille will explore the underlying factors that motivate people to pursue healthy behaviors. Dr. Rapaille said, "I deeply believe that iSource has created a new media which will transform all health issues in the future."
A prototype of the iSource platform is in development and is expected to be piloted by the end of the year. To learn more, contact Wick Rudd, EVP of Business Development at 401-619-2834 or wickrudd@isourcenetworks.com.

Verizon Calls On Developers: Create Innovative Applications For More Than 80 Million CustomersVerizon Takes Its First Developer Community Conference to Heart of Silicon Valley on July 28
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon is hosting its first-ever Verizon Developer Community (VDC) Conference on July 28 in Silicon Valley, focused entirely on fostering the development of new mobile applications.
Verizon will webcast the day's presentations, featuring executives from Verizon, Research In Motion (RIM) and Softbank Mobile, among others, to accommodate developer interest and demand. Several hundred developers have already requested registration for the applications conference to be held at The Fairmont San Jose.
Lowell McAdam, chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless, said the conference is an important "coming out" for Verizon with the application development community, building on the open development conference that focused on devices, which the company held in March last year. McAdam said, "Even going it alone, Verizon has become the largest and most successful mobile multimedia service provider in the nation. But despite that success, we have learned an important lesson: The wireless future will be built on partnerships and collaboration."
John Stratton, Verizon's chief marketing officer, said application developers can expect to participate in discussions about accessing Verizon Wireless' customer base through a host of devices and operating environments.
"Conference speakers will detail how developers can take advantage of new tools and resources, including Verizon Wireless APIs, to build applications and get them in front of more than 80 million customers," Stratton said. "This conference is a direct result of feedback we received from our development partners to streamline our processes. The model that we'll share at the conference is singular in its focus: To make working with Verizon Wireless more compelling, lucrative and, above all, simple for developers."
Path to Applications Development and the Mobile Future
The VDC Conference will provide mobile applications developers with an overview of the company's overall strategy around applications; information on a new developer portal; and the process of submitting, launching and revenue sharing for applications on Verizon Wireless devices as well as the upcoming launch of an applications store. Technical, marketing and network information will be addressed by Verizon Wireless leaders and other partners.
This conference is yet another marker in Verizon's efforts to encourage innovation, give customers new wireless choices, and quickly address opportunities to expand the wireless market. Through its open development program, Verizon Wireless has certified more than 50 devices for use on its network. Earlier this year, Verizon Wireless offered developers technical specifications for devices that will run on recently-acquired 700 MHz C-block spectrum where its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network will operate.
Watch the Conference via Webcast
The morning sessions featuring speakers from Verizon, RIM, Softbank Mobile, and several developer partners will be webcast live beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT / 12:30 p.m. ET. Afternoon deep-dive sessions will be videotaped and available for viewing on the Web site shortly after the conference concludes. For information about the webcast, visit http://www.vdc2009.com/ and click on the WEBCAST tab. Developers can find all VDC Conference information, including the agenda and other details, at http://www.vdc2009.com/.

New Lockheed Martin-Built Military Communications Satellite Completes Environmental Testing
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The first of a new generation of military communications satellites built by Lockheed Martin for the U.S. Air Force has successfully completed final thermal vacuum testing at the company's Sunnyvale, Calif. facilities.
Known as the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) program, the system will provide global, highly secure, protected, survivable communications for all warfighters serving under the U.S. Department of Defense. The AEHF constellation will also serve international partners including Canada, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Final thermal vacuum testing of the first AEHF satellite was conducted between June 7 and July 13, and is one of several critical environmental test phases that validate the overall satellite design, quality of workmanship and survivability during space vehicle launching and on-orbit operations.
The successful test demonstrated spacecraft performance and functionality in a complete test-like-you-fly environment where the satellite was stressed at the extreme hot and cold temperatures it will experience in space throughout its 14-year design life.
"Our highly successful test and analysis gives us high confidence that we have a robust spacecraft that will meet all performance requirements once on-orbit," said John Miyamoto, Lockheed Martin's AEHF vice president. "We look forward to our continued progress on this vitally important program that will usher in a new era of high-speed, protected communications to aid our military personnel and allies worldwide."
With the completion of spacecraft thermal vacuum testing, the team of Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Sunnyvale, Calif., the AEHF prime contractor, and Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, Redondo Beach, Calif., the payload supplier, will now perform final integrated spacecraft and system test activities necessary to prepare the vehicle for flight.
The first spacecraft is planned for delivery to the Air Force in 2010 in preparation for launch aboard an Atlas V launch vehicle. The second and third AEHF satellites are also progressing through final integration and test activities and are on track for launch in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
A single AEHF satellite will provide greater total capacity than the entire Milstar constellation currently on-orbit. Individual user data rates can be up to five times higher than Milstar's highest speed. The higher data rates will permit transmission of tactical military communications, such as higher-quality real-time video and faster access to battlefield maps and targeting data. In addition to its tactical mission, AEHF will also provide the critical survivable, protected, and endurable communications to the National Command Authority including presidential conferencing in all levels of conflict.
Lockheed Martin is currently under contract to provide three AEHF satellites and the Mission Control Segment to its customer, the Military Satellite Communications Systems Wing, located at the Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif. The program is in the early stages of adding a fourth spacecraft to the planned constellation.
Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 146,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The corporation reported 2008 sales of $42.7 billion.

SHANGHAI, July 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- China Cablecom Holdings, Ltd. ("China Cablecom" or the "Company") , announced that the Company has approved an internal transfer of funds in the amount of RMB 65 million from Heze Cablecom Network Technology Company Ltd., a subsidiary of China Cablecom, to an account maintained by Jinan Youxiantong Network Technology Co., Ltd. and controlled by China Cablecom's management team.
In May 2009, the Company announced that the funds had been segregated into a separate account on behalf of the holders of the promissory notes, and is now being transferred at the request of its joint venture partner in Hubei province as part of China Cablecom's negotiations regarding the Hubei operations. These discussions involve the restructuring of the Company's debt and assets and obligations of its joint venture partners with Hubei Chutian Broadcasting and Television Network Company.
"The transfer of funds into our Hubei joint venture account moves us one step closer to our goal of restructuring China Cablecom as we continue on-going negotiations with our Hubei SOEs," states China Cablecom's Chief Executive Officer, Pu Yue. "This progress will allow us to continue our focus on growing our Hubei cable assets."
About China Cablecom
China Cablecom is a joint-venture provider of cable television services in the People's Republic of China, operating in partnership with a local state-owned enterprise ("SOE") authorized by the PRC government to control the distribution of cable TV services through the deployment of analog and digital cable services. In June 2008, China Cablecom consummated an agreement to acquire a 60 percent economic interest in a cable network in Hubei province with paying subscribers exceeding 800,000. The Company originally acquired operating rights of the Binzhou Broadcasting network in Binzhou, Shandong Province in September 2007 by entering into a series of asset purchase and services agreements with a company organized by SOEs, owned directly or indirectly by local branches of State Administration of Radio, Film and Television in five different municipalities to serve as a holding company of the relevant businesses. China Cablecom now operates 28 cable networks with over 1.4 million paying subscribers. China Cablecom's strategy is to replicate the acquisitions by operating partnership models in other municipalities and provinces in the PRC and then introducing operating efficiencies and increasing service offerings in the networks in which it operates.

Verizon Wireless' Enhanced Network Coverage Along RAGBRAI Route Includes Portable Cell SitesVerizon Wireless' Portable Cell Sites and Capacity Adds Will Boost Network Coverage in Greenfield, Indianola and Ottumwa
DES MOINES, Iowa, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless, the company with the nation's largest and most reliable wireless voice and data network, will boost network capacity at three cities along this year's route for the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI ) July 19-25.
The company announced it will bring a Cell on Wheels (COW) to the Greenfield tour stop and it will activate a Cell on Light Truck (COLT) for the tour stop in Indianola. These temporary cell sites are equivalent to the highest capacity stationary site presently in Iowa and are able to process thousands of calls every hour. In addition, network capacity at existing cell sites has been increased to handle nearly three times the normal call volume in the Ottumwa area.
"As the official wireless provider for RAGBRAI, we are committed to serving our customers as well as the ride organizers along this year's route," said Nancy B. Clark, president - Great Plains Region, Verizon Wireless. "Based on our research, we anticipate each of these Iowa communities will experience more than double the usage during the ride's tour stop than would occur during an average summer day," Clark said.
Heading into its 37th year, RAGBRAI is the longest, largest and oldest touring bicycle ride in the world. RAGBRAI's 10,000 riders will attract an estimated 10,000 viewers at most stops along the route.
Verizon Wireless' fleet of COLTS and COWS provides service at special events, such as RAGBRAI, that demand additional network capacity. They also are designed for use when natural disasters or other unplanned events interrupt wireless voice and data service. For example, the company deployed a COLT this past Spring to assist with Red River flooding recovery efforts in the Fargo, N.D. area.
Verizon Wireless continues to increase capacity and augment the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Iowa and across the country. The company has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed -- more than $5.5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. More than $239 million of this investment was spent in Iowa from January 2001 through June 30 of this year on network improvements.

RiT Technologies Announces One-for-Eight Reverse Share Split
TEL AVIV, Israel, July 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RiT Technologies today announced that its Board of Directors has approved a one-for-eight reverse split of the Company's outstanding ordinary shares, to become effective during August 2009.
As previously reported, in December 2007, RiT received a NASDAQ Staff Deficiency Letter indicating that it did not satisfy NASDAQ's minimum bid price requirement of $1.00 per share. In light of a general temporary suspension by NASDAQ of such requirement, RiT currently has until September 21, 2009 to regain compliance with such requirement. In August 2008, the shareholders of RiT authorized the Board of Directors to implement a reverse share split at a ratio not to exceed one-for-eight. RiT believes the reverse share split will enable it to regain compliance with the minimum bid price requirement and therefore allow the Company to continue to be listed on the NASDAQ Capital Market. The decision to implement the reverse share split was made after careful consideration by RiT's Board of Directors of various factors, including the belief that continued listing on the NASDAQ Capital Market will enable the Company to have greater access to public capital markets and will afford the Company's shareholders greater liquidity with respect to their shareholdings in the Company.
RiT will provide additional details regarding the reverse share split, including the final effective date thereof, once available.

NI Technology Previews Earnings for Texas Instruments, Advanced Micro Devices, Linear Technology and QLogic
PRINCETON, N.J., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Next Inning Technology Research (http://www.nextinning.com/), an online investment newsletter focused on semiconductor and technology stocks, announced it has updated outlooks for Texas Instruments , Advanced Micro Devices , Linear Technology , and QLogic .
Editor Paul McWilliams has helped his subscribers generate huge returns on undervalued tech stocks in 2009. Out of the 80 stocks highlighted in his Undervalued Tech Stocks reports, 21 have produced returns in excess of 70% year to date. All of these were ranked as either good "strategic" or "speculative" buys. The average return for all stocks ranked as either "speculative" or "strategic" buys was 40.7%, better than twice the return of stocks he thought readers should avoid.
McWilliams now turns his attention to earnings season. In an exclusive series of reports, McWilliams offers data, charts, and analysis that illustrate important tech paradigms and highlight important trends that will move stocks during the upcoming quarter.
To read McWilliams' reports that are designed to prepare investors for the July earnings season, please accept our invitation to take a free 21-day, no risk test drive with Next Inning by visiting the following link:
https://www.nextinning.com/subscribe/index.php?refer=prn850
McWilliams covers these topics and more in his recent reports:
-- McWilliams advised readers that Texas Instruments would increase its guidance a full week before the company announced this during its mid-quarter review. What was the basis for this prediction and why didn't Wall Street see it coming?
-- How does McWilliams think Texas Instruments will perform in the short-term? What does he see as the company's major challenges going forward? Does he think there are any specific acquisition targets Texas Instruments should consider? What semiconductor stock does he think investors should pair with a long position in Texas Instruments?
-- McWilliams advised Next Inning readers earlier this month when Advanced Micro Devices was trading at $3.40 to expect a short-term upswing in the price of the stock. Does he think it makes sense to hold the stock for the long term or should investors take profits?
-- Does McWilliams expect Linear Tech to report calendar Q2 earnings above its guidance range and to forecast calendar Q3 earnings above analysts' current consensus estimates? What does he think Linear Tech is doing right and what does he see as the company's primary challenges?
-- In which two critical areas is QLogic an industry leader? Does McWilliams think they are important enough to warrant buying shares of QLogic at the current price?
Founded in September 2002, Next Inning's model portfolio has returned 185% since its inception versus 5% for the S&P 500.

Verizon Wireless Investing Nearly $198 Million More in Michigan Network in 2009, Including 43 New Cell SitesNational Deployment of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) Network Scheduled to begin in 2010
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless today announced that it has activated 12 new cell sites in Michigan in the first half of the year and is on target to build a total of 43 new cell sites in 2009, while spending nearly $198 million on its wireless voice and data network in the state this year.
The 43 new cell sites will expand network coverage and increase capacity, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones to make calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
Where possible, Verizon Wireless will be installing permanent generators at its new cell sites, ensuring its customers can continue to communicate during power outages, tornados, flooding and other disasters.
"A wireless phone is only as good as the network that it operates on," said Greg Haller, president-Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky Region, Verizon Wireless. "Our customers depend on us to maintain a reliable network so that, when they press send, their calls go through and stay connected. Every year, we continue to invest millions of dollars in our Michigan network because network reliability is our top priority and the No. 1 reason why customers choose Verizon Wireless."
Moving Forward with 4G
Verizon Wireless is also working this year on building the underlying infrastructure that will enable it to become the first wireless company to offer commercial 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE)-based service in the United States, starting in 2010.
"LTE enables us to continue to meet business customer demands for a higher bandwidth, low latency service that works broadly in the United States and globally, while helping us to meet consumer demand for mobilizing the many applications they frequently use when tethered to high bandwidth wired networks," said Haller. "We look forward to bringing a new, enhanced mobile broadband experience for consumers and enterprises throughout the United States."
Verizon Wireless has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed - $5.5 billion on average every year - to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. Since the company was formed in 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested $1.3 billion on improvements to its network in Michigan.
