    AMETEK CLOSES $700 MILLION REVOLVING CREDIT FACILITY

    BERWYN, Pa., Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AMETEK, Inc. announced that it has closed a new five-year, $700 million Revolving Credit Facility, which provides AMETEK with a larger financing capacity and greater flexibility. This new facility replaces an existing $450 million facility due to expire in June 2012.

    Multicable Selects CodecSys(TM) to Launch Over-the-Top (OTT) ServiceService to stream multiple profiles to mobile devices

    MEXICO CITY, Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadcast International (BCST.OB), announced today that Multicable, a leading cable and Internet Service Provider in Mexico, has selected CodecSys from Broadcast International as the core platform to launch its Over-the-Top Video Programming Service.

    Document Security Systems, Inc. Teams with Relyco to Offer Latest Effective Check Security Technology to Combat Soaring Check FraudDSS Incorporates New Patent Protected Scanning and Copy Deterrent Technology into Paper Checks

    ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Document Security Systems, Inc. , a world-wide developer and manufacturer of security and authentication solutions which prevent counterfeiting and brand fraud announced today that it has teamed with New Hampshire based, Relyco(R), a leading provider of value-added business printing and payment solutions, to produce a Bank Check which contains the most effective counterfeit prevention technologies in the industry. In addition, this check meets or exceeds all Federal mandated requirements including "Check 21".

    According to American Banker Magazine, more than 1.2 million fraudulent checks are written each day which equates to more than 13 per second.

    A 2009 American Bankers Association study estimates there were 760,955 cases of check fraud in 2008 with actual losses estimated at $1.024 billion, compared to 561,306 cases and $969 million in 2005 (2006 ABA Study) and 616,469 cases and $677 million in 2002 (2003 ABA).

    Key findings of the 2011 American Financial Professionals Payments Fraud and Control Survey published by JP Morgan include:

    --  80% of business-to-business transactions are made by check; that number
    is expected to decrease only minimally in the coming years.
    

    --  Seventy-one percent of organizations experienced attempted or actual
    payments fraud in 2010.
    

    --  Large organizations were significantly more likely to have experienced
    payments fraud than were smaller ones. Eighty-two percent of
    organizations with annual revenues over $1 billion were victims of
    payments fraud in 2010 compared with 58 percent of organizations with
    annual revenues under $1 billion.
    

    --  Twenty-nine percent of survey respondents report that incidents of fraud
    increased in 2010 compared to 2009.
    

    --  Checks were the dominant payment form targeted by fraudsters, with 93
    percent of affected organizations reporting that their checks had been
    targeted.
    

    According to the U.S. Secret Service's 2010 Annual report, forensic examinations of counterfeit currency has revealed that 63% of all counterfeits are made using scanning and digital imaging equipment. DSS's technologies, which prevent accurate image capturing by these devices, are therefore extremely valuable tools in the fight against counterfeiting.

    Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne Continues Tests on Department of Defense, NASA Engines

    CANOGA PARK, Calif., Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In an impressive display of power and technology, Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne successfully completed a series of hot-fire tests on the certified RS-68A engine, the world's most powerful hydrogen-fueled engine. The tests demonstrated the capability of the engine to operate for 4,800 seconds of cumulative run time - four times the design life of the engine and more than 10 times what's needed to boost a United Launch Alliance heavy-lift rocket into space. The tests took place at John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne is a United Technologies Corp. company.

    The RS-68A is a liquid-hydrogen/liquid-oxygen booster engine designed to provide increased thrust and improved fuel efficiency for the Delta IV family of launch vehicles. It evolved from the RS-68 engine, which was developed and certified for commercial use entirely on private company funds. Each RS-68A will provide 702,000 pounds of lift-off thrust, or 39,000 more pounds of thrust than the RS-68 engine, with increased combustion efficiency as well.

    In addition to the successful margin demonstration testing of the RS-68A engine, Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne, together with NASA, has begun testing on the upper-stage J-2X engine. To date, five hot-fire tests have been conducted on the J-2X, which could be used to boost humans beyond low-Earth orbit.

    Eutelsat Communications announces that its ATLANTIC BIRD(TM) 7 satellite is set for launch on Saturday September 24. The satellite will be delivered into orbit by a Zenit-3SL rocket operated by Sea Launch AG from the ocean-based Odyssey Launch Platform in international waters of the Pacific Ocean. Lift-off is planned for 13:18 pm Pacific Daylight Time (20:18 GMT, 22:18 CET), at the opening of a 74-minute launch window.

    Built for Eutelsat by Astrium, the 4.6 tonne ATLANTIC BIRD(TM) 7 satellite will replace ATLANTIC BIRD(TM) 4A at 7 degrees West and deliver additional capacity for further expansion of services. Up to 50 Ku-band transponders will be connected to two beams giving superior coverage of the Middle East, North Africa and North-West Africa for digital broadcasting services.

    ICSA Labs Launches Quarterly Testing Program for Network Intrusion Prevention SystemsTesting Evaluates How Well Products Protect Enterprise Networks From the Latest Attacks

    MECHANICSBURG, Pa., Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- To help organizations better protect their networks from malicious software and other attacks, ICSA Labs is launching a quarterly testing program for network intrusion prevention systems.

    The new program is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of intrusion prevention systems (IPS) in protecting against the most recently discovered network vulnerabilities. The quarterly testing, which is available to all IPS manufacturers, is also an enhancement to ICSA Labs' certification program, which conducts similar rigorous testing once a year on intrusion protection systems.

    "ICSA Labs' network IPS quarterly testing will evaluate how well these products detect and stop attacks - in the short and long run," said Brian Monkman, technology programs manager, ICSA Labs. "The goal is to determine the effectiveness of these products against both emerging and existing security threats to enterprise networks."

    Each quarter, ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon, will test network IPS products against the most relevant and severe security vulnerabilities. A report containing the results of each quarterly test, including individual vendor scores, will be posted on ICSA Labs' Quarterly Network IPS Vulnerability Testing page.

    In the first test, five products were evaluated, including Sourcefire 3D4500, Stonesoft StoneGate IPS-1205, HP TippingPoint S660N and HP TippingPoint S330.

    Each product was tested against several vulnerabilities that were less than three months old. After the initial test, the companies were able to review the results and improve their products. A second test was then conducted.

    The results from the second test showed strong overall improvement over the first test's results, with an effectiveness rating ranging from 81.3 percent to 90.6 percent and an average score of 86.2 percent. The effectiveness rating in the first test ranged from 59.4 percent to 78.1 percent, and the average score was 69.4 percent.

    Quarterly Testing to Enable Vendors to Update and Improve Vulnerability Coverage

    For subsequent quarterly tests, two sets of vulnerabilities will be used. The first set will feature vulnerabilities that are less than three months old. The second will feature the vulnerabilities that were tested in the previous quarter. This will enable vendors to update and improve their vulnerability coverage against new and existing threats.

    Companies can submit their network IPS products for quarterly testing regardless of whether the products have been certified by ICSA Labs. A full list of certified network IPS products is available here.

    Fifty-Three Percent of Shoppers Will Spend $50 or Less on a Halloween Costume in 2011, According to PriceGrabber(R) SurveyPriceGrabber launches Halloween Shopping Guide for shoppers with any budget

    LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The season of jack-o'-lanterns and ghosts is almost upon us, and savvy consumers are gearing up to make the most out of Halloween 2011. PriceGrabber(R), a part of Experian, just released the results of its Halloween shopping survey, revealing that 53 percent of consumers will spend $50 or less on a costume this year. Twenty percent indicated that they will spend $50 or more, and 17 percent said they will not spend anything on a costume. Conducted from Aug. 30 to Sept. 7, 2011, the survey includes responses from 2,030 U.S. online consumers who indicated that they celebrate Halloween.

    Latest costumes and decorations are still a must for consumers

    Despite an increasingly tumultuous economic climate, consumers' fervor for a show-stopping Halloween has not waned. PriceGrabber's survey found that 48 percent of respondents with children will purchase their child a brand-new costume this year. Twenty-four percent said they planned to make a costume, and 11 percent plan to borrow or recycle an outfit. Even pets will partake in the festivities this year, as 18 percent plan to dress up their furry friends.

    Of the overwhelming 72 percent of respondents who said they planned to decorate their homes this year, 70 percent will purchase their festive decor, compared with 30 percent who will make it themselves. However, they plan to stay on budget, with 73 percent indicating that they will spend $50 or less and only 27 percent planning to spend $50 or more.

    Consumers will buy Halloween items both in brick-and-mortar stores and online

    When asked whether they plan to shop in stores or online for Halloween costumes and/or decorations, 55 percent of consumers indicated that they will shop at a combination of brick-and-mortar and online retailers. Thirty-five percent of respondents said they will only shop in stores, and 11 percent plan to shop online.

    "According to our survey data, consumers still want what's hot for Halloween and are willing to employ some sensible strategies to get the best deal out there," stated Graham Jones, general manager of PriceGrabber. "Shopping both online and in brick-and-mortar stores increases consumers' chances of finding what they want for the best price.     Entertainment- and pop culture-related costumes are likely to fly off shelves this year

According to PriceGrabber internal Web analytics based on keyword searches from Sept. 7-12, 2011, Halloween shoppers are once again smitten with Lady Gaga(TM), Snooki(TM) and Disney(TM). The top costume themes so far this year fall into the category of movies, television and entertainment and include clothing and accessories related to Lady Gaga(TM), Jersey Shore(TM), Harry Potter(TM), Star Wars(TM), Tangled(TM), Toy Story(TM), Mickey and Minnie Mouse(TM), Pirates of the Caribbean(TM), Captain America(TM), Batman(TM), Hannah Montana(TM) and the Smurfs(TM), among others.
