The demonstration is powered by Broadcom's flagship BCM7445 Ultra HD video decoder system-on-a-chip (SoC) with high efficiency video coding (HEVC) compression. The live broadcast will be made available to World Cup enthusiasts in select venues throughout Brazil, including many installations in customer households where a 4K TV is already available.     This month's live Ultra HD broadcasts of the World Cup represent a significant proof point of Ultra HD adoption, as TV display prices continue to become more affordable and service providers increase delivery of 4K content. According to market information advisory firm DisplaySearch, the 2014 World Cup is expected to boost sales of Ultra HD TVs as football fans look to experience the vivid, lifelike images enabled by Ultra HD.

    Macronix Files Additional Patent Infringement Complaints with USITC Against Spansion and Its Customers, and Seeks Exclusion Order as well as Cease and Desist Orders

    HSINCHU, July 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Macronix International Co., Ltd. and Macronix America, Inc., global leaders in non-volatile memory solutions, announced that they have filed a new patent infringement complaint against Spansion, Inc., Spansion LLC, Spansion (Thailand) Ltd. and certain of their customers with the U.S. International Trade Commission ("ITC") for infringement of four Macronix patents covering separate aspects of non-volatile memory devices, including flash memory. The named respondents include Aerohive Networks, Inc., Allied Telesis, Inc., Ciena Corporation, Delphi Automotive PLC and Delphi Automotive Systems, LLC, Polycom, Inc., Ruckus Wireless, Inc., ShoreTel Inc., Tellabs, Inc. and/or Tellabs North America, Inc., and TiVo Inc. Macronix has taken this step to address Spansion's rampant infringement of Macronix's patent rights as well as the infringement that arises when Spansion's customers import products containing infringing Spansion's devices, including Spansion flash memory devices, into the United States.

    Over the past 25 years, Macronix has invested heavily in the research and development of non-volatile memory technology. As a result of those investments, Macronix has been granted more than 5,400 patents world-wide and more than 2,100 in the United States. In a 2011 analysis conducted by The Patent Board, Macronix ranked 18th worldwide, and first in Taiwan for patent strength in the semiconductor industry.

    The four Macronix patents-in-suit relate to non-volatile memory technology and devices. In its complaint, Macronix requests that the ITC issues an exclusion order barring Spansion's infringing devices or products containing such components from further importation into the United States. Macronix also requests that the ITC issues a general exclusion order to prevent other unidentified parties from importing products containing infringing Spansion devices into the United States. In addition, Macronix is requesting that the ITC issue cease and desist orders prohibiting further commerce in the United States involving infringing Spansion memory devices.

    This additional complaint follows a first ITC complaint, that was filed in December 2013 and that will be determined in January, 2015, in which Macronix asserted three patents against Spansion. In addition, Macronix has a seven-patent infringement litigation pending against Spansion in the United States District Court. Macronix also has pending actions at the U.S. Patent Office to invalidate Spansion's patents asserted in an earlier-filed ITC case. The investigations of the above have been initiated respectively by the courts and/or authorities and the decisions will be available in the early part of 2015. Macronix is confident in those actions and will continue to vigorously defend its valuable intellectual property rights.

    Computer Sciences Corp. Faces Nationwide Overtime Pay Lawsuit, According to Legal Team for System Administrators

    HARTFORD, Conn., July 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A nationwide class action lawsuit filed today accuses Computer Sciences Corp. , a global information technology services company, of violating federal and state employment laws by failing to pay overtime compensation to its System Administrators.

    The lawsuit was filed on behalf of all System Administrators throughout the United States by the law firms of Outten & Golden LLP, Lewis, Feinberg, Lee, Renaker & Jackson P.C., and Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein, LLP in Connecticut federal court. System Administrators install, support, and maintain CSC's clients' computer hardware and software, according to the complaint.

    Named Plaintiff Joseph Strauch said, "We System Administrators have worked long hours for CSC and its clients, contributing to CSC's revenues and success. I hope that this lawsuit will enable my fellow System Administrators to get paid in accordance with the law."

    In performing routine hardware and software installation, maintenance, and support work for CSC's clients throughout the United States, System Administrators often work long hours, including late into the night and on weekends. The plaintiffs allege that CSC has misclassified its System Administrators throughout the United States as exempt from overtime pay under federal and state law, and failed to pay them for all hours actually worked in violation of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA"), as well as Connecticut and California law.

    Such employment law violation allegations are not new to CSC, the law firms said. The company was the defendant in a similar lawsuit, Giannetto v. Computer Sciences Corporation, which was settled in 2005 for $24 million in overtime payments to technical support workers.

    Plaintiffs' counsel Jahan C. Sagafi, of Outten & Golden LLP, said, "This lawsuit seeks fair compensation for the many CSC System Administrators who have poured their hearts into ensuring CSC's success."

    To better cater to members' needs, 100% of the offers are location-based. Meaning that geo-location technology within RetailMeNot's smartphone app will only show offers that are in the immediate vicinity. A benefit of being a member and using the app is that you won't arrive at a chain restaurant in Phoenix with a coupon that's valid only in Dallas.

    Findings from the surveys include:

    --  The vast majority of respondents have eaten at a fast food (87%) or
    fast-casual (67%) restaurant over a month's time frame.
    --  Eating at restaurants will be a big part of summer this year. Survey
    respondents estimate, on average, they will eat out nearly every day of
    the week (six days) and likely nine times a week during vacation.
    --  When it comes to dining out, survey respondents prefer a buy one, get
    one free entree deal (35%) or a discount (such as 10% off) on their
    entire purchase (31%). Fewer see as much value in a free appetizer or
    dessert (7%) or drink specials (6%).
    --  Among 2014 summer vacationers, the top foods that survey respondents
    plan to eat during their summer vacation are burgers (76%), pizza (74%)
    and sandwiches (64%).

    Report Methodology
    The two RetailMeNot surveys were conducted with The Omnibus Company between April 4 and April 11, 2014, and April 22 and April 29, 2014, among 1,075 and 1,009 U.S. residents ages 18 and over, using an email invitation and an online survey. Quotas are set to ensure reliable and accurate representation of the entire U.S. population ages 18 and over. Results of any sample are subject to sampling variation. The magnitude of the variation is measurable and is affected by the number of interviews and the level of the percentages expressing the results. In these particular studies, the chances are 95 in 100 that a survey result does not vary, plus or minus, by more than 3 percentage points for from the result that would be obtained if interviews had been conducted with all persons in the universe represented by the sample. The margin of error for any subgroups will be slightly higher.
