The AD5660, a member of the nanoDAC family of devices, is a low power, single, 16-bit buffered voltage-out DAC, guaranteed monotonic by design with an integrated on chip max 5 ppm/°C reference.
The AD5660 operates either from a 3 V single supply featuring an internal reference of 1.25 V and an internal gain of two or a 5 V single supply featuring an internal reference of 2.5 V also with an internal gain of two. The reference is guaranteed to a 20 ppm/°C max temperature coefficient and is also available at the REFOUT pin to be used elsewhere in the system.
The part incorporates a power-on-reset circuit that depending on model ensures that the DAC output powers up to zero volts or midscale and remains there until a valid write takes place. Power consumption is typically 500 µA and the part contains a power-down feature that reduces the current consumption of the device to 1 µA at 5 V with software selectable output loads while in power-down mode.
The AD5660 utilizes a versatile three-wire serial interface that operates at clock rates up to 30 MHz and is compatible with standard SPI™, QSPI™, MICROWIRE™ and DSP interface standards. Its on-chip precision output amplifier allows rail-to rail output swing to be achieved.
