SAE J1708 Data Interface Cable
Model 1708CAB9
Make the connection to J1708 data bus systems using the popular 9-pin Deutsch connector with the 1708CAB9 interface cable. This 1.8 meter (6 feet) long, 18 AWG shielded cable is terminated with a 9-contact circular socket. The Data A, Data B, and ground conductors are stripped and tinned at the opposite end for easy connection to Model 232SAER or J1708P1 which converts J1708 data to the RS-232 Standard. The remaining four connections are included in the cable, but cut flush with the insulation. Vehicles may provide a voltage on Pin B (orange wire) of the connector. Note that, if this wire is connected to the +12V power input on the Model 232SAER or J1708P1, the voltage must not exceed 16 volts otherwise the 232SAER or J1708P1 will be damaged.
