The MtH2470Dual is a dual Single-Pair HDSL/SDSL system on chip. It includes two 2B1Q HDSL/SDSL DSPs, two feature extended HDSL/SDSL framers, and a system interface unit. It enables the implementation of high concentration, dual Single-Pair HDSL systems both transmitting at 2,320 Kbps, and multirate SDSL systems for transmission of up to 2,320 Kbps.

The MtH2470Dual has five different operation modes:

Dual Single Loop System for transmission of up to 2,320 Kbps. Both DSPs operational with internal DCXO and PLL. Both Framers operational with additional functionality and interfaces Single Loop System for transmis sion of up to 2,320 Kbps. DSP 1 operational with internal DCXO and PLL. Framer 1 operational with addi tional functionality and interfaces. DSP 2 & Framer 2 are not operational and do not consume power Dual DSP Device for transmission of up to 2,320 Kbps . DSP 1 and DSP 2 are operational with inter nal DCXO and PLL. Both Framers are not operational and do not consume power Dual Framer Device. Framer 1 & Framer 2 are operational with additional functionality and inter faces. Both DSPs are not operational, and do not consume power Two-Pair HDSL System (including Repeater functionality). Both DSPs opera tional with internal DCXO and PLL. Framer 1 is operational with additional functionality and interfaces. Framer 2 is not operational and does not consume power.

Ideal for mixed voice and data transmission systems
Metalink added new interfaces to the MtH2470Dual in order to enable simplified transport of a mix of data and digitized voice transmissions. The MtH2470Dual includes a dedicated PCM interface for glueless connectivity with legacy "S" ISDN chips as defined in the ETSI HDSL standard. The MtH2470Dual also allows for the transport of voice communications through a glueless PCM interface to up to three CODECs or SLACs.

Ideal for high-concentration HDSL or SDSL designs thanks to:
Enhanced Multi-port Support The MtH2470Dual includes an internal elastic buffer on the data PCM interface for transmit and receive synchronization. This enables the simplified multiplexing of the data of a number of MtH2470Dual devices on the line card. It is also possible to connect the ISDN or POTS-CODECS PCM interfaces and Z-bits interfaces of up to four MtH2470Dual chips (up to 8 HDSL/SDSL trunks) to one PCM bus. Small Surface Mount Area Thanks to its advanced level of functionality integration, the surface mount area of HDSL or SDSL designs based on the MtH2470Dual is reduced to a minimum unmatched in the industry. The total chipset solution surface mount area of a dual HDSL/SDSL system operating at up to 2,320 Kbps (including two MtH2443 AFEs) is of an unmatched 488 sq. mm. (244 sq. mm. per port). Extremely low power consumption Furthermore, the MtH2470Dual consumes extremely low power. The combination of the MtH2470Dual with two MtH2443 AFEs requires a maximum 940mW per port when transmitting at 2,320 Kbps. Reduced BOM cost The clock synthesizer and DCXO functionality enables both DSL trunks of the MtH2470Dual to operate independently at multiple data rates with only one crystal or XO as clock source.

M tH2443 Analog Front End
General Description: Metalink's Analog Front End provides all of the active analog circuitry needed to connect a digital signal processor to an external compromise hybrid and line transformer. The transmit and receive filter responses automatically change with clock frequency ­ allowing the MtH2443 to operate over a wide range of data rates. Functionally, this unit consists of transmit and Features:

receive sections. The transmit section generates analog signals from 2 bit digital symbol data and filters the analog signals to create 2B1Q symbols. The on board differential line driver provides a 13.5dBm signal to the telephone line. The receive section filters and digitizes the symbol data received on the telephone line. Available in a very small 28-pin SSOP package.
